Review An Lac Vegetarian Restaurant - Cabramatta

As a vegan I very much approve of this fine institution. The food is very very good just as it is and also as a mock meat alternative. A bit heavy on the flavours perhaps but seriosuly they're all prepared really well. Aside from being tasty the food is also very cheap and affordable and I cannot wait to come back as this is not my first time :p

Good place to go, always come here for the take away. There sweet and sour soup and lemon grass tofu are the best. They apso have prepaid take away as well if you dont want to wait. Also they sell vegetarian cooking products as well. They only accept cash, no credit cards and Amex. Updated with menu 27/07/2021

Everything was really good and staff were very helpful and friendly. Their sweet and sour pork was just regular tofu though instead of mock pork which was a little disappointing. The fish in the other hand was very delicious and tasted very much like the real thing. Very impressed

This is my favourite place to eat in the area. The food is great, staff are friendly and its so affordable you could eat here everyday. The best part is knowing that no animals suffered for my meal

Still a good place to go but ever since covid they have not opened the dine feature. Would love to go in and eat there again... Food is extremely good to mimic other meat tastes for vegans who dont eat meat for their diet.

Kind and warm staff members. Wasn't too busy when we arrived so we were seated quickly and food came out reasonably also. Food was delicious we got An Lac pot rice and the faux beef pho. Really tasty and light. Happy to come again.

Delicious vegan dishes, especially the Broken Rice and Stir-fried Beef Vermicelli Salad. Been here twice, and always better than expectations. Recommended for vegans.

Whenever I go to Cabramatta, I try one of many vegan restaurants in Cabramatta. This restaurant is in the heart of busiest street. Staff are friendly and food are delicious. One thing I didnt like is the menu book. It was a bit dirty..

One of my favourites dishes to have here is the tom yum vermicelli noodles and all there choice dishes to have with rice. It's probably one of my favourite vegetarian restaurants in Cabramatta!

Had a very interesting meal here and not too sure how I feel about them. But first off, I absolutely love the concept of an all vegetarian Viet restaurant. We were a little confused at the beginning with all the names including nearing but I can confirm that it's all fake meat!

We tried the tomato crab soup and the lemongrass chicken and when both were nice dishes in their own right the "meat" wasn't all too convincing especially for the crab. Aside from that it was a fairly decent meal for a decent price. I've never had the actual meaty version so I can't compare how closely they nailed the flavours but I had fun with it nonetheless.

Would recommend if you have any vegetarian friends who want to try out Viet food!

been going here for 4 years to eat. the food and service is always amazing here. the definitely one of the best vegan restaurants in cabramatta.
an absolute must-try is the hai nam chicken. the chicken is fried instead of steamed but the fragrant ginger rice and sesame dipping sauce is to die for.
i’m never hesitant to order something new each time i visit because i know the food will always be good!

Awesome! We love An Lac so much we make the 40 min drive at least once a month. Food is great and affordable. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

My absolute go to for Vietnamese vegan. Fresh ingredients and always consistent. The must haves are bi cuon, banh canh, bun rieu, bun ca thi la and bun bo hue.

Not surprised this restaurant has been around for ages. I loved the food here! The hainan chicken was really delicious and such a good serving, only wish they had a small soupy thing to come along with as some restaurants do this. But we still had pho with it so it was all good. The vegan pho was heavenly. I've had vegan pho all over Sydney now, and it seems restaurants in Cabramatta always do it better. We also ordered an eggplant and tofu dish and they said it was only $7 if we order the takeaway version (as opposed to $12). It was a good amount of food and the best thing is, it was all under $30. 😭 Why can't it be like this everywhere else too.

Last week i went there to order veggie rice soup but it is actually porridge, there is nothing in the rice soup just a few veggies from can eg corn, carrot. Not worth for money, don't bother going there, rip off customers.

This place is the best place for vegetarian food. Prices are cheap, food is tasty and the service is friendly. I recommend the beef pho, rice paper rolls, tomato noodle soup, hainan chicken rice and the san chow bow. I come here a few times a month with a friend and order pretty much the same dishes every time. I never get sick of the tantalising flavours. Family friendly place.

This is a really lovely place, with nice staff and tasty food. Also very fairly priced and a great place for any vegan/vegetarians. I always leave with a full stomach and a warm heart, very lovely Vietnamese owner :)
Food : 😁 Great
Service : 😊 Good

This is one of my favourite vegan eat outs. I love Asian food and people say it's hard to make Asian food vegan and still taste good. The flavour of the dishes here are still pretty good. The salad sauces and soups are very tasty. Even if you're not vegan, you can still enjoy the food here.

With six vego restaurants in Cabra, this one survived for 3 decades with good reason. Punters flock to the "wrap at the table" mock fish and an incredibly realistic mock fermented fish sauce.

Not only does this place deserve a round of applause for quality and quantity, the affordable nature is the bonus. I highly recommend everyone wether carnivore or omnivore to try this place. The Pho soups are just spectacular here !

Although its a vegan restaurant they have meat options on the menu. I ordered tofu and lemongrass expected stirfry style but instead it was deep fried crunch tofu with fried lemongrass. Not the healthiest dinner but it was salty and tasty. I would come back and try other dishes next time!

An Lac is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Cabramatta, going strong for well over two decades. It began as a business venture of Phuoc Hue temple to make vegetarian food accessible for local Vietnamese, at the same time, raising funds for the temple. Nuns used to supervise and most workers were Buddhist lay people. Back then it was a humble, honest and unpretentious eatery conveniently located on the main street.

Phuoc Hue has since sold and these days An Lac is a little more glamorous. The new An Lac has had a make-over, lime green and yolk coloured walls, fancy light fixtures, heck, even metal chopticks. At the front is a bain-marie showcasing around twenty mouth-watering vegetarian versions of popular Vietnamese standards; bitter melon soup, curries, braised pork and more.

Are you sick of getting stuck with the token vegetarian dish on a menu? Take a seat, then, buddy, cos you’re about to go weak at the knees. At An Lac, you can bask in an entire menu of options that will create a foreign sensation known as menu indecision – yep, that’s 60 different Vietnamese dishes to choose from, and not a vegetable stack to be seen.

Great service and fantastic food. This is the best vegetarian restaurants I have eaten at. The food was fantastic!!! VERY generous sizes and absolutely delicious. The service was efficient and fast and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good food.

Lyf. Last night I finally got round to trying this Vietnamese vegestarian restaurant as it has been an establshment at Cabramatta for quite some time. Wow was I impressed. Top notch vietnamese/vegetarian cuisine cooked in a homely way. Some of the mock meat products could have even fooled a meat eater. I dined with 2 non vegetarians and they also loved it. Healthy, genuinely tasty and honest food with most mains of generous servings costing between $10-12.

Awesome Vegetarain in Cabramatta. Great Vietnamese-vegetarian food! Friendly and efficient service. We loved the Bánh hỏi (roll your own) with mock fried fish, salad greens and great sauces. Our tea jug was replenished without having to ask and a doggy-bag packed securely and with a smile. A starter and two mains set us back $35. Awesome!

Fresh Rice Paper Spring Rolls (Goi Cuon), Spicy Vermicelli Soup with Lemongrass (Bun Hue) & Tomato Soup (Bun Riu). The best vegetarian food in Cabramatta & friendly staff.
It's been a while since I've been here. It's still busy and still a little quishy inside

Rice paper rolls were better than expected

I tried the broken rice combination, vege style! It doesn't taste anything like the real thing. But it's nice in its own way. The pork strips was nice, the pork patty was strange and the pork chop part was a soy based patty which I've eaten at plenty of other places. There was also this egg which wasn't a real egg,I liked this! The outer white part of the egg was Crispy,it's like a wanton egg

My mum had the hainan chicken which was not like the real thing and was fried. It was a little burnt and hard to eat

The missus had this rice dish, not much taste to it but still ok. Prices are resasonable, food came out at reasonable rate

It looks like what you order is how you will enjoy your experience here

2011
One of the better vegetarian places ive eaten. The place is almost hidden on the popular street of Johns Street with his unspectacular outside and inside setting. But the food is nice and cheap and one of the better vegetarian places I've eaten at.
