Review C'est Bon Restaurant Francais - Cairns

Really loved the food- I almost want to move to Cairns just to be able to eat here again. Although pricey, servings were a good size, and desserts were huge. Was surprised by the very quick service as well. Such a wonderful dinner for Christmas Eve!

Authentic French restaurant in town. Well portioned meals that were incredibly tasty. Can recommend the escargot and beef fillet. Plenty of wines to match with, although most are by the bottle. Definitely book ahead.

Excellent food and service. Value of lunch menu (2 or 3 course) cannot be beat. Comfortable, clean and great ambience. Will definitely return on next visit to cairns. A must try.

Not those $$$$ fine dining but good value for the price. Beef tartar, main lamb and beef met Australia standard. Even the canned escargot were prepared well. Recommended place to try something different than seafood a day Thai influenced menu.

IMHO the best restaurant in Cairns. This would be a real good restaurant in France, for Cairns, it's exceptional. It's really lucky that we have a restaurant like this. Prices are surprisingly contained too, for the quality. You should expect to spend under $100 per person including some light drinking.

Rustic French food in the heart of Cairns. Most definitely worth a visit for some hearty Parisian food. The service was on point and the food both tasty and filling.

We booked for romantic dinner and it was! Booking requiered . The atmosphere is nice. The service was good with some recommendations. We didn't wait too long for our meals. The food was delicious and tasty. The blue cheese cake different. My only complaint is the pate... Very small portion and one small piece of bread, overpriced. Great variety on the menu.

Impeccable service from the moment you walk in! Best in Cairns by far. All the staff were friendly and made sure we had everything we wanted at all times, and never went thirsty! The escargot was phenomenal. Highly recommend a stop here.

Ticked all the boxes for us - Great Food ✅ Excellent, attentive Service ✅ Relaxed, welcoming atmosphere ✅ Even catered for kids and were also fine to accommodate a 6 month old in a stroller ✅

Detailed service and friendly staff...best dinning experience I have had in a long time. If you come to Cairns, this one you must not miss out. Excellent food, tasty and well cooked. We came back for another time on the day we leaving, after telling the staff we are a bit tight on time, dishes came much faster. Very good service! Will come back again for sure !! Photo is what I ordered: fish of the day. Nicely cooked and tasty, good portion for me, maybe small or people who regularly devour 1kg ribs for one meal.

The menu contained escargots and that was what enticed me to give the restaurant a try. The service was lovely and both of my waiters were friendly yet professional. I ordered the escargots for entree and berry & basil souffle for dessert and was glad that I didn't order a main because the bread that came with the snails already filled me up. The snails came with garlic parsley butter and it tasted divine! I wish the butter wasn't as salty though because it kind of overpowered the snail taste. The berry & basil souffle was also delicious, risen perfectly and super airy. Might be a bit of a pricey lunch but if you're looking to try snails, this is a good way. Perhaps let the chef know your salt preference.

Nice ambience, pricing would appear to be based on their good reviews, and not value for money, markup on wines is over 100% on retail price which i find offensive and amounts to price gouging. The Apple Tarte Tatin with its crispy base was not the classic I was expecting and lacked that real apple flavour. Would I go there again, NOT while the prices are as inflated as they are.

A great place to indulge in French classics. We had the escargot to share as an entrée, and my main was the eye fillet. Both dishes were delicious and cooked perfectly. Good wine selection. The service was lovely.

It is definitely a good restaurant. Traditional French food, with traditional French sauce. Black truffle is surely a highlight that evening. A little bit salty for the steak, mentioned with their chef. All in all, if u wanna try something purely from France, that's where u wanna go.

This is a great little place.....a little piece of French sophistication in Cairns. The dining experience is great. A little more training and attention to detail for the non owner wait staff would polish off the experience. The kitchen delivers and when served by the owners an exceptional experience

Great food can very easily be undermined by bad service. Whilst at C'est Bon last night with my wife and 2 year old daughter, we experienced probably the best example of restaurant service in a very long time. It was a very busy evening and you could tell the staff were working overtime yet they were genuinely aware that it was taking longer than normal to bring our meals (sometimes that's all you want). When my rib eye arrived, I noticed that it was more medium than medium rare and although it was quite tasty, I mentioned it to the waiter and within 5 minutes he had another plate with a medium-rare eye filet for me. By the end of the evening, our daughter was getting restless so we had to unfortunately give dessert a miss and asked for our bill which arrived 3 mins later with a chocolate mouse on the house for us to eat quickly whilst they processed our payment.

So whilst great food can easily be undermined by bad service, it is also true that great service can easily overcome minor mistakes. This is definitely a restaurant worth visiting and justifiably the best in Cairns.l
Good value business lunch, and an excellent location for a catchup with colleagues with cheap 2 or 3 course options. Attention to detail I plating is amazing! Portions are a little on the small side, but flavours are delicious. Nice French styling in restaurant too.

The best restaurant in Cairns! The service is second to none and the owner is one of the most passionate about his food philosophy that you will meet. It's a must

The pastry on my entree was light and delicious. As a main, I ordered the beef cheeks which absolutely fell to pieces under the slightest pressure from my fork. To have used a knife on the beef cheeks would have been offensive to how well it was cooked and completely unnecessary! While I did not get the set 3 course menu, it appeared delicious and good value for money. The majority of staff that I spoke to were French, which added to the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Would definitely recommend it!

French cooking at its best, a fresh menu with wide range of options and flavours. Outstanding service, always! Great ambiance and atmosphere! My favourite restaurant!!

Classic French. Staff are friendly with French accents to match the music. Apart from a la carte, a price fix menu has a few choices of bread, entree, mains and desert (including a wine choice alternative to desert) for $55 - good value compared to separate choices. Australian and French wine is available by the bottle or glass for most varieties. Of note are the Riesling and Chardonnay options as well as the so common thesedays Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. Red wine is fine but there is no straight Cabernet by the glass, except a house Cabernet Shiraz. A good range of beers and other options round out the drinks and the coffee is quite good and smooth on the palate. Dishes tried included the Liver and Pork Belly that presented and tasted well with crisp vegetables and typical French sauces. A limited range of deserts (including Creme Brulee and pistachio flavoured biscuits) are also there as well as superior desert wines (Noble One for a reasonable $9 a glass). Although not that full, my wait time for entree was 40 minutes, followed by 30 minutes till Mains - much longer than usual. Overall, if you are not rushed, a place to savour the delights of French cuisine.

Unbeatable - fantastic food, flavours and respectful service. We dine regularly here. Their set menu offers value for money, three courses and the food is simply the best.
Love their soup of the day, with the pastry crust on top. A great looking dish, and the soup is simply wonderful.
Recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We went here for NYE, they had a Moulin Rouge theme - 6 course menu, sparkling on arrival, movie playing in the background, can can dancers, free photos with dancers, candle lit and decorations, and all for a reasonable price. The service was fantastic, great ambience and absolutely delicious food. Highly recommended.

Overall, I had a good impression at this restaurant. After going with some friends, we found the service to be good and the food tasty. Three of us started with the French Onion Soup, which tasted great, and our other friend had snails, with a delicious garlic sauce.

The main course was also good. I had a perfectly cooked filet mignon, whilst two of my friends enjoyed their duck leg, though one commented on the duck being slightly too salty. Unfortunately, the turkey log our other friend ordered was undercooked, but the staff were very helpful and took it back immediately to rectify the problem.

Dessert was where this place really shone. Their trio of crème brûlée tasted fantastic, their chocolate mousse was rich, and the soufflé tasted great.

As you would expect from a French restaurant there was a large wine selection, though slightly disappointingly, not many choices from France, instead choosing local Australian wines.
