Kept walking past and it and wanting to go on board to try some fresh seafood, so on my last day I did and ordered a half dozen of the best oysters I’ve ever eaten with a glass of wine for only $20!! Staff are lovely and friendly will be going back for the jumbo platter!!
This place is worth a visit the food is amazing and the staff are extremely friendly and can’t do enough for you. Definitely a must 😊
The food was amazing and fresh. The staff were so friendly and couldnt do enough to make us comfortable. Even advised that we sit out of the rain for a while. Would highly recommend and definitely will go back
Don’t walk past this place. Best meal in Cairns in a unique setting on a boat. Truly fresh seafood served by the friendliest staff . My 7 year old son loved it and was kept entertained by all the captains.

My son and I arrived in Cairns on the P&O Pacific Dawn for just 1 day. All the passengers left to go snorkling, sightseeing, skyrailing and train riding. We have already previously enjoyed the wonders of Cairns so we went in search of beautiful fresh oysters. The lovely young lady selling the bus tickets at the wharf recommended the Prawn Star. OMG Thank you!
We had, what started off as one "share" plate of amazing oysters and ended up being two dozen of the freshest oysters and wasabi salmon we have ever had. The beers and wine topped off an unforgettable experience. We returned to the cruise ship so happy and convinced that we had just experienced the best ever "day tour" in Cairns.

Took the kids down for the first time. Seafood was awesome, staff fantastic and the kids loved it. Well worth a visit even in the rain.

Friendly staff. Fresh seafood is pretty much the only thing on the menu. There’s no sides like salad or chips. I would have LOVED some chips. Such a novelty being on a boat - fun times.

We love our seafood, and make a point to indulge whenever we can - especially when travelling/ on holiday!
We are also currently on holiday with a toddler who needs an early bedtime and is not fond of seafood.... but you folks had our back with an amazing, high quality, fresh feast that was perfectly packaged for takeaway. Once our dear little one was down we were free to enjoy a very delicious, romantic and memorable dinner.
It has definitely been Cairns highlight.

The name of the restaurant is really creative but the food and vibe here are just perfect for Cairns! My partner and I never knew that we can have a romantic dinner eating with our hands and licking our fingers. We heard the seafood here is the freshest in Cairns and super fresh seafood is what we had indeed. The yellow lights and calm atmosphere made our jumbo seafood plating extra special.
Without question this is a wonderful experience, sitting on a trawler in a marina, eating seafood.
We had a quick lunch on opening, platter for two of bugs and prawns. The seafood was fresh - the prawns were not the best I’ve ever had, but I think that would all come back to supply and what is available.
We would definitely go back. Friendly quick service. It would e be a fantastic place to go with a group of mates.

My husband & I had jumbo platter for my dinner. The portion was definitely fair. Seafood tasted nice and served cold which I liked.
My only suggestion is serve your home made sauce. It would be much better.
If you are in Cairns and like good seafood Prawn Star is a must go! Just if you are wondering, the restaurant is located on 4 little boats on the E-finger of Cairns Marina.
They have many great seafood plates, including prawns, white tiger, salmon, moreton bay bugs, lobsters and much more. I have been here twice and had both times a half plate of mixed prawns, these are great value!
Drinks (beer, wine, cider) are 7 dollars all day long!

Great way to enjoy fresh seafood on an old boat, just like it had been pulled up from the ocean. Everyone is welcome to this fun vibe location. Staff have great energy to go with music and atmosphere. Went twice on our short stay in Cairns.
Such an amazing vibe (you are literally eating on a boat) and the staff are so nice! One of yhe servers was from Brasil and was awesome! The food is great as well. But be prepared to spend money as it is seafood after all. Also better to book a reservation as it fills up quick. Highly recommend trying their seafood platter as it is out of this world. Also have take away options.
