Review Rusty's Market - Cairns

Foodie in Brisbane
One of the must-visit markets if you visit Cairns! There’s a huge variety of fruits/vegetables/food and other items priced reasonably. There is parking in-front of the markets and on the surrounding streets although you have to pay a small fee (around $2 an hour if I remember correctly). Would be good to carry some cash as not every stall has card machines 😌

Rusty's Markets in Cairns Visited on 17/7/2022 I am very disappointed when I visit the markets today. I shop for value-for-money, and so cheap price is not my only buying criterion. For the last few days, I shopped at supermarkets for the specials and I am extremely happy to pay a little bit extra. When I say a little bit, I do mean it, because I am a Scrooge when shopping for food is concern. There are several fruit stall holders at the pavement, screaming out to draw passer-bys' attention. When I enter the market, I find it rather disorganised and untidy. Comparing with markets I have visited in different Australian and overseas cities, I feel that Rusty's Markets need a lot of improvement.

Highly recommend. Put this on your to do list. Nothing beats dropping down early to the local market on the weekend grabbing fresh fruit and vegetables for the week ahead and treating yourself to a coffee and a pastry.

Popular market in Cairns. We visit the place multiple times every trip. It’s a lively place. Tips: The middle parking lane is free parking for 3h. The side curb parking lane are ticketed. There is a gated parking in the building free for 2h. Some shops only do cash, make sure you have your change handy. There are fresh fruits 🍎 , veggies🥦 , herbs 🌿, and more. There are also hot food of various cuisine, coffee, and varieties of drinks. Jewellery, bric-a-brac, massage, tools, etc This place has it all 🛒

Honestly my favourite place in cairns. Great, wide selection of fresh fruit and veggies. Tasty, quick, cheap bites to eat there or take away. Good selection of trinkets, jewellery and antique pieces to buy. They only lose a star because they say they’re open until 6pm but most stalls are closed by 3:30

Highly recommend visiting this market. Great selection of fruits and food from various stalls. My favourite is the Samoan food stall. The taro and luau was super delicious. The lovely stall owner introduced me to breadfruit and it was so good.

Lively fresh food market with lots of interesting food vans on offer. We had the best pho, honestly outstanding. We also had a crepe that was light, sweet and delicious! 😚 There were also some other stalls with clothes, jewellery and other trinkets. We enjoyed it.

A must do for any traveller wanting to sample the exotic tropical fruits from the growers in the local area, Vegies also avaiable. A selection of amazing food from different corners of the globe is avaiable, plus a few coffee brewers the best i found was Barista sista located at the food end of the market. I had breakfast at La Creperie an amazing selection of sweet & savoury crepes. Rustys Open Friday to Sunday. You wont regret the experience.

Rusty's Market is so fantastic. I'm a regular to buy my very fresh fruit and veggies, and best eggs, and delicious sourdough bread, and the best cheese in the world. It's wonderful to buy products from new stall-holders too. Organic pork. Organic fruit salad. Love the music, coffee, sugar cane juice, coconuts, clothing, jewellery ~ everything.

Rusty's has always been a great place to shop for fruit & vegies, the smell of fresh produce is unbelievable & would be a great experience for anyone visiting Cairns. Food stores are great & the service is always at a high level. Make sure you treat yourself to browse around & enjoy Rusty's Markets...

An Italian man selling homemade Arancini and Cannolli was such a gentleman and his Arancini was the best I have ever had. However I loved this market, everything was great, great people, fresh fruit and veggies, gret stuff!!

We really enjoy shopping here. The food is always very fresh and plentiful. It is very much worth the drive from Port Douglas for the sights, sounds and cultural experience while stocking up on delicious fresh food.

21 years ago when I first visited Cairns, Rusty's Markets was in the open and a huge tree stood smack in the center. Rain, hail or storm, stall holders turned up to add to the excitement. Later, Gilligans Back Packer & Resort was built giving Rusty's Market a new facelift which allowed all stall holders to be under cover. I love Rusty's Markets, you get to meet so many people from all walks of life. You can even pick up great bargins, visit me at Mungalli Creek Outlet for all your organic dairy products or Jervois Organic meats, have a coffee, buy your veges have a meal and a whole lot more. Enjoy your day.

We are very fortunate to have access to such a wide variety of fresh produce locally brought together in one convenient location at Rustys. Only complaint- parking is difficult (oh, and I always buy too much🤣)

Without any doubt the best of markets hands down. Been coming back every year.

A must visit if you are in Cairns and like fresh fruit and veg. Also some great food stalls for a bite to eat. Only open Friday and weekends.

If there was more parking, and more of a focus on fresh locally grown produce (The locally grown produce is there if you look for it) Rusty's would flourish.

Not what I thought it would be. The fruit & veg while all locally grown just looked a bit tired and not as fresh. Probably need to buy on the Friday to guarantee freshness I reckon. Would love to know where the traditional apple varieties came from though. I don't think they would be local.

Stumbled on this gem and enjoyed a great coffee and some of the best selection of delicious fruit.
