Delicious food, fresh and tasty. The Yaya's speciality dish of Lamb and Lemon potatoes was the best I have eaten, a great balance of flavours and seasoning the lamb was so soft and melt in your mouth and the potatoes with just the right hint of lemon..... perfection!
Save room for dessert as the Baclava ice-cream is gorgeous, a medley of creamy, nutty, honey goodness. A great way to finish your meal coupled with an authentic greek coffee!
This is definitely a must do destination for Dinner if you are travelling to Cairns. Great service and a welcoming atmosphere from the staff made this a memorable and enjoyable dining experience.
Can't wait to come back!
Best food coma ever , highly recommend, if your visiting Cairns , you must visit this place , it's amazing ❤🍸😁
Fantastic food and the best service we have experienced anywhere whilst on our travels....a must visit when in Cairns.
Amazing Food!!! Very helpful staff, fast friendly service,
A must when visiting cairns!!!!
All wishing we came here the first night so we could come back again and again!!!
Top restaurant! Food is exquisite, drinks are delicious, service is on point very time
Loved it! The staff were great (thanks Lydia!) and the food was well priced and very good. Well worth checking out.
after a day out on the ocean n green island yaya s was the perfect choice to slake our hunger and thirst. we chose the banquet with additional baby octopus thrown in. the mezedes were fantastic and constituted a feast in themselves. this was followed by triple sea food - fried squid, giant prawn, swordfish, all done to perfection. then came the meat course, lamb stiffado n potatoes with souvlaki, truly echoing the greek cuisine of the homeland and islands. they even served a beer from santorini.
both my wife and i were more than satisfied by the end.
for quality and value head to yaya s for a truly sumptious feast
thanks yaya
Well what a fantastic place, the only thing that could improve is ......... Nothing, perfect in every aspect
Best Greek food I have had. It was tasty well presented with very warm & friendly service. Well done guys and good luck with your new venture I'm sure you'll win. Ian from Adelaide
ON the site of the old Casa de Meze, upstairs from Villa Romana.
Had a lovely dinner for 15 of us here.
We chose to do our own banquet selection.
Food was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend the octopus and moussaka.
Great cocktails and lovely warm fresh baked bread and dips.
Christine and Costa are lovely hosts; they will do anything they can to accommodate all tastes and preferences. Lovely to have some truly passionate professionals in Cairns. Skip the usual suspects and take the trip upstairs from Villa Romana.
We ate here twice. Great food and lovely staff.
Beautiful food and people. Highly recommended.
Amazing food, quick service & friendly staff.
Recommend the fried cheese (yum) & loukomades (large serve)!!
Limoncello also a delicious treat to end the night.
Must get the saganaki and the loukoumades! Quick food service and friendly staff in an excellent location made for a great dining experience
Went here on our holiday to cairns. Had the $45 banquet which was so delicious and generous. The staff were super and friendly and accommodating to my 3 kids. Highly recommend.
Great food and service. All staff were very welcoming and warm. I'm from Melbourne and it has some great Greek places and I've been to Greece also, however this restaurant is up there with one of the best. Both of us had lamb cutlets (you get 4), one had chips, salad and tzaziki and the other mash and char grilled vegetables. Unfortunately no room for dessert, but will be back!
Liked the food. But no moussaka come on your a Greek restaurant. Nice location nice inside setting.
And tell people there is salad in the side of the mains so they don't order a extra salad to go with it.
My boyfriend and I had dinner at Yaya's on a Tuesday night. It's tucked away above the Italian restaurant below so be sure to keep your eyes open for the entry. The food, service and atmosphere was great so we returned for dinner the next night and the standards were just as good. We had to wait a while longer for our food on the second night as we ordered just after a table of 30, but we knew the food was worth the wait and didn't bring up our wait time. However, the lady in charge (sorry we didn't catch your name) was onto everyone's wait times after that large table. We didn't have to say anything but she was very gracious about the wait. She was warm, apologetic about us having to wait and more than generous to make up for it. Would highly recommend you climb the stairs to eat here. The savoury food and desserts were all tasty. Special mention of the saganaki, beef rissoles and the baklava ice cream. Even my very picky boyfriend loved everything we tried!!!
This restaurant was truly wonderful, lovely staff and the banquet was delicious. So much food for a great price! Will definitely come back next time we are in Cairns
I recommend this place for the fish. We went for dinner and had, among other fishes, a delicious coral trout. I also recommend drinking a bottle (glass) of Retzina. The staff is very welcoming, and the terrace outside very quiet and cozy.
Traditional Greek cuisine, service was excellent as was the food highly recommend this restaurant . We had the moussaka and yayas speciality , both where excellent
Walked into this place - didn't read any of the reviews. Beautiful zucchini chips - flavour flavour flavour. Red coral for mains. Difficult to find great food in Cains and this is one of the spots for it. Delicious.
Absolutely delicious food and fantastic service. The dips, lamb and desserts were just some of the highlights of the banquet. The chef is definitely cooking up authentic Greek food! Will certainly be back the next time we visit Cairns.
Fantastic experience. Had the banquet. So much food but so good! Seafood and meat cooked perfectly. Staff were great, honestly felt so welcomed.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner. The service was good and the food yummy. Great location overlooking the water and Cairns esplanade. We had the octopus, saganaki, then lamb souvlaki. All yummy.
Lamb souvlaki very good. No bread or wrap please note, which is disappointing if you were expecting that...but it is good enough without it. At $26 not cheap so this won't suit the cairns backpackers. But as it's more of a meal than a dirty souva you get from lambs on chapel for eg so worthwhile if you want a high end souva. I had takeaway but dining in looks great- good views and a couple of lounges that would work well for a group.
Had dinner to escape the madness of the packed and average looking places on the street level. We had pots Gyros and Lamb souvlaki.
Service was really nice and warm, nice greeting and attentive service. Nice open kitchen with guys working hard. The owners Being from Melb originally, we expected a lot and the food overall delivered. The meats were well cooked and flavoured, hand cut chips were really nice to see. Home made everything was obvious and delightful to see.
Chef cam out to make sure we were happy etc. nice place. Price was fair also.
We ended up going upstairs to this restaurant as the Italian underneath was full. We had intended to have pizza but were very happy to eat very good Greek food. We managed to get a lovely outdoor table and enjoyed the holiday feel.
The food was excellent, I had the ebst mousaka I have ever eaten and the other twon enjoyed their plates of meat.
We ordered 2 desserts and enjoyed those too.
My husband declared it the best food he had had outside of Greece. We really enjoyed the atmosphere
Good service and excellent food as well as great location. Enjoyed delicious lamb cutlets and slow cooked lamb with fresh tasty salad. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Good to above average food. The grouper special was a generous portion and outstanding. Excellent Baklava. Service very good if not overly friendly.
Quality food. Quality of the food here is top notch authentic Greek. The chicken skewers and lamb full of flavour and bursting with taste. We arrived just on 5pm on opening time and we're greeted very welcoming. The flavour of all the food here is great but the portion size is probably a little down on what most Greek restaurants serve. Only other thing il be critical on is where is the Mythos Beer? Anyways great Greek place will return when back up here.
Some of the best Greek food I've ever had!
My partner and I visited Yayas while on holiday in Cairns and were treated to some absolutely delish food!
As we are from Melbourne, our expectations were high, but Yayas exceeded them. Highly recommend ordering the banquet ($40 per person) for a taste of everything.
Fabulous. I would suggest a balcony seat as it is a special spot and order the $40 a head banquet. Recommend asking for the bread and dips to go as the meal is very filling and hard to finish. The dips and home made bread make for nice lunch the next day :) I loved the saganaki cheese (my new thing) , the swordfish, the calamari, the lamb and potatoes. Just a great feed all round, unbelievable value and a gorgeous location over looking the Esplanade. Service was 9/10 as well.
I ate there as recommended by a local. Beautiful food & lovely spot on the balcony overlooking the esplanade. Will definitely go again when next in Cairns.
