Review Pho Viet Vietnamese Noodle Bar - Cairns

That place is like you are in a Vietnam street food. All the staff look Vietnamese. All the plates we ordered were delicious and very good amount. Decorate like a Street food. Tables in and out. Good service and quick. Friendly staff.

I was looking for an air conditioned restaurant on a Saturday night. The place was packed, but the food came out really quick. Service could be better, but I understand, it was quite busy. My vermicelli with meat spring rolls was delicious, light and healthy. Vermicelli noodles, cucumber, carrot, bean sprouts, topped of with nuts. The prices for most of the mains were mostly $16,80, which is a really good price, considering my bowl of noodles was really big and I almost couldn't finish it. I will return to try the other dishes.

Wow, Yum, Wow, Yum, wow, Yum!!! Food is best I have had, the service too is great. Place is a little small, so no larger groups are coming here, but I will be back again when I visit Cairns next!

Replicating the electrifying, down-to-earth atmosphere of street side eating, this Vietnamese joint constantly gathers more people outside on the tables than inside the restaurant. Not because they have more takeaway customers than diners, but because they don't have enough room inside. Our order of special beef pho, crispy pork vermicelli and a meal deal which comes with chicken salad and small noodle soup came relatively quickly despite the busyn. A disadvantage with outdoor dining was the uncleanliness with tables yet to be cleared, bits of food stuck to cutlery and faint stains. But if you were to overlook the subpar hygiene, the food definitely meets the standard for comforting Vietnamese cuisine. The special beef pho was served in a gigantic bowl bestowing a rich, reinvigorating broth that melted the frigid night. What makes it the more special is the gigantic slices of tender beef alongside velvety tendon and meatballs. While I appreciate the generous amount of noodle, it was cooked al dente and didn't possess the smoothness essential to slurping and relishing of a delicious pho. I also wished there was bean sprouts as well for extra texture. The crispy pork vermicelli turned out to be crispy pork BELLY to our surprise. I have no complaints though, fatty pieces of meat with an audible crunch is irresistible. In between indulgent bites, the side salad was a refreshing intermission with a striking fish sauce amplifying the nice, cool veggies. The food wasn't knocking my socks off but I'm glad it was able to soothe the winter chills and cravings!

Delicious rice and soup dishes, friendly service and conveniently located next to my hotel. Serving time was a bit slow and pricier than what I'm use to. In fairness, they may be short staffed and there's not much competition for Vietnamese food nearby.

Friendly and helpful staff. The place was packed but the service was fast. The chicken vermicelli I ordered was fantastic and fresh. Thanks for working on Xmas day legends. 🙂

Good Vietnamese noodles I had beef noodle soup, which was good Lunch partners had chicken noodle soup & chilli beef noodle soup, both were enjoyable & the chilli reportedly had a good (strong) heat level The noodles themselves were fresh & well cooked You might want to think about what time to go as we had trouble getting a table at 12:15 on a Friday However, service was good and tables turn over reasonably fast

The foods are quite nice. The broth was tasty and the portion is relatively big. The spring roll is okay. A very crowded place.

A local told me about this place and it did not disappoint food was fantastic. I highly recommend a visit

Best value pork roll in Cairns, would suggest giving it a go if you're a pork roll lover.

I have eaten there (take away) two nights running as the food is so fresh and delicious. I am only in Cairns on business for two nights otherwise it would be more. Great food, reasonable prices and fantastic service

I love all viet food but this place takes the cake the beef pho soup to die for. Better then my local in sydney

The Pho is sensational and the fresh juices are great. Decor is nothing spectacular but the food is wonderful.

Awesome Vietnamese food and hospitality, my go to work lunch

Yummy, good quality Vietnamese food for a really cheap price. I definitely recommend the spring rolls and fried rice. We will definitely be going back.

Really great pho. We had the special beef and spicy beef and pork. The spicy was so tangy it was awesome. Lots of lime, fish sauce and chilli oil. <br/>This place is authentic and cheap! But the inside is date so don’t take your first date there! <br/>Great service also.

Amazing food at amazing prices. After walking around Cairns for the day we wanted something fresh, fast and of course delicious. We had the vegie spring rolls and rice vermicelli and could not reccomend it more!!
Matthew Hawker
Loved the pho. The chilli that comes on the side is super hot and amazing. I don't think they were lying when they said it's the fourth hottest chilli.

Taste the scrumptious Pho in Cairns, Australia only at Pho Viet! <br/>This place offers a neat and clean outdoor seating with fresh as well as good food. Their prices are reasonable. I must say a good value for money. Their sevice is also quick. I admire their garnishing and quantity of food! Consider them while you long for tasty Vietnamese soup. You won't this a bad deal!

Having read the other reviews I was apprehensive but either this place has improved or they were wrong.<br/><br/>Very flavourful stock on both the beef meatball pho and wonton soup. Very tasty food, good service and nice decor. Recommended for a great cheap Vietnamese meal

Quite a nice restaurant. Prices are alright for the portion size. Taste was pretty standard. <br/><br/>'Pho Viet" Vietnamese noodle bar: Chicken stir-fry with vermicilli $13.90 <br/><br/>Vietnamese noodle bar: Sliced beef noodle soup $11.90 (beef noodle soup [pho])

Service: 3/5<br/>Cleanliness: 3/5<br/>Food: 2.5/5<br/><br/>I went there today and ordered the viet meat spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce. $6 for 3 is great value for money... but sadly it was lacking in taste and flavour. It was very bland, I saturated it in sweet and sour sauce just so I could eat it.<br/><br/>I also got the crispy chicken with fried rice... also lacking in flavour. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender in the middle which was great. The fried rice however was rice in soy sauce with veges and meat.<br/><br/>I wouldn't go back there in a hurry.

I found the food here sub-par. Had the pho with rare beef, and thought the beef had an odd taste to it. I also tried the nem nuong (grilled pork meatballs) vermicelli noodle salad and not a fan of the fish sauce concoction they make here - it seemed too sweet and lacked spiciness.

What a great, inexpensive restaurant in Cairns! The food is amazing, the service is fantastic and the vibe of the place is great! My favourite dish was number '21' and the rice paper rolls, number 3, were made on the spot and delicious! Highly recommend a visit when in the Cairns City area!
Cinematic Concepts
Coming from Melbourne and spending a generous amount of time in the likes of Richmond, Springvale and other heavily populated Vietnamese communities as well as Vietnam itself, I was curious to taste the authenticity of Cairns' Vietnamese cuisine and sadly I would have to agree with a number of the previous reviews. Obviously not having the experiences here as locals would at this particular eatery but I understand that when there's the need to add excessive condiments than what you normally would, simply to boost the favours of the phở tái/rare beef pho that I ordered, there's a key element that's seriously lacking: flavour in the broth. As it has been said, the broth in particular seemed to contain too much dilution and I had to fulfil the flavours by adding additional hoisin, chilli and fish sauces. Not that it's too much of an issue to me either but they certainly reduced the bean sprout servings as to what I have experienced. I firmly believe that supply and demand is the key downfall of one of Vietnam's many worldly known dishes and the further it is taken away from its origin the more we will understand this factor. For a first time experience to those of the pho world, they may not be exposed to what differences there are in such a simple dish. I on the other hand have had my fair share of pho dishes and this wasn't one to remember. Each to their own mind you so it all depends on what tickles your taste buds.

great food if you're looking for something tasty, quick and cheap... literally ordered our meal and by the time we sat down they had brought out our first meal. Service was good and efficient, bathroom wasn't hard to find. Nice resturaunt to contrast all the overpriced tourist orientated ones on the esplanade.

Great food and price. So happy to cater for gluten free. Had pork noodles and rice paper rolls. Really great authentic taste. Will be back for sure

Not a very good place. Staff are slow and incompetent and food is very average. I do not recommend. There are many other Asian restaurants in cairns - do not choose this one.

Not nice staff and wait for food for long time. We order for 5 mins then get the first meal,<br/>Other table Oder after Us and when he finished eating and went out, we still haven't got our other two meals.<br/>We talked to staff and they don't care and didn't apologize that we already waited for over 25mins.<br/>And other guest order for one meal that she could get in 5mins.<br/>This restaurant doesn't have good service and the staff attitude is not nice to guest!

Skimpy on leaves and sprouts. No offering for raw beef so my beef was cooked and chewy. Broth is not flavoursome as compared to Sydney offerings.

Very Good Very fast. I had crispy chicken, turned out much better than any kfc.<br/><br/>My mate had the chilli beef. I had a taste, it was an awesome broth. There could have been anything in there and it would have tasted the goods!!!<br/><br/>very recommended!

Come on Cairns!. Shop looks clean. It's typically Vietnamese in that there's no Western please and thank-you's (to be expected). Rice paper rolls were OK but the sauce tasted like watered down peanut butter. Special beef pho came with no side plate (lemon, chilli etc...). Broth tasted like beef stock. Wouldn't go back though it wouldn't take much to fix the shortcumings.

Really good and super quick Vietnamese food.

Viet for group. We were a group of 20 from Melbourne in Cairns (obviously) and wanted something which didn't resemble a pub meal. The food was good (not the best Viet I've had but definitely above average). We booked ahead and the staff at the register were very accommodating. We booked ahead and had no problems. It took a while for everything to come out but we were a big group and they had a small kitchen so fair. Overall: the guy who served us was awesome and the restaurant was very reminiscent of Melbourne style Viet.

Amazing beef pho and spring rolls! As good as Vietnam!

Excellent quick food. My partner and I went here for dinner whilst on holidays in Cairns, and were very impressed. I had Seafood Combo Pho and my partner had Sliced Beef Pho. Both meals were plentiful, fresh and delicious. We also had rice paper rolls, which had prawns and pork in them, they were huge and a bit ordinary - but we were so enthralled with our Pho that we didn't care. Nice variety of Asian drinks - i.e. coconut juice and Asian iced tea/energy drinks. My seafood Pho was one of the best meals I had in Cairns, and we were looking to go back here for our dinner on our last night but it was pouring rain and we didn't feel like walking several blocks to this place - however we went to another Vietnamese restaurant (Pho n Thai), which was quite poor quality compared to this one. We were kicking ourselves that we didn't make the extra few blocks walk in order to get the food we craved. Would definitely come back here. Hopefully more people will rate their experiences here in order to boost their score on Urbanspoon! :)
