Review Sushi Zipang - Cairns

Shane J
Good value traditional sushi - not expensive fills the gap. The staff are very friendly and always and happy to help. The belt may look empty at times, but the menu is full and once you place your order it will be served fresh very quickly. If you like your Sushi or Japanese food, then give this place a crack.

Very pleasant restaurant with kind and polite staff. I had a mixed sashimi bowl, which was amazing. Good quality fish. There are a lot of other options, including a sushi train.

I ordered the wakame salad and the hot and spicy ramen. It was nothing too special. I felt there was too much cabbage in the ramen.

Very authentic sushi train with a good variety on the menu. We ordered around 10 plates of sushi from the menu, all were extremely fresh and generous servings. My partner also ordered a noodle soup which he enjoyed. Prices were a little more than other sushi trains (only by about 50c - $1 a plate) though the quality of the food was worth it.

Food is excellent and fresh. The staff is friendly, helpful and amazing. The prices are the average in the market but the quality is extremely good. I enjoyed dining here a lot and I recommend it to anyone who’s craving for sushi and wants to have a good experience while in Cairns.

Am surprised to find such decent and reasonable pricing Japanese Food in Cairns Esplanade. The cooked food is pretty authentic and delicious, while the sashimi is considered rather cheap. Definitely worth a try if you happened to be at the area and craving for some Japanese cuisine. Service is excellent too.

Great Japanese Food in the heart of Esplanade Cairns. We ordered Don and ramen soup for dinner and was really surprised that it’s tasted authentic and delicious. Friendly staff and the food is reasonably priced too. Definitely worth a try.

Order one of the chicken bowls they are delicious and great value for money... and healthy. Usually very fast service and friendly staff. Don't go for the train order off the menu.. fresh is best! Not a fancy venue but always clean and tidy. They offer take away too.

Been going here for years, especially after a good cosplay meetup! They also do take away, which is great while I'm studying like 1 street over I can take my Ramen with me! MUST TRY THE RAMEN <3 (=^_^=) -Also loving the new look, with banners and paint job :3

Best ramen we tried in ages! We had chicken ramen here and it was perfect! Most ramens in Sydney are either too salty or too oily but this place was nothing like that.
A little bit pricier than Sydney but food in Cairns seem generally pricier than those in Sydney. But the portion was huge so that really made up for it!
We also had salmon sashimi which was incredibly fresh and came in thick slices!
My husband loves beef tataki and can be quite picky with them but he approved this one. We highly recommend this place for some good ramen and sashimi!
Slightly overpriced. Went for lunch. Sashimi was adequate would have preferred it sliced more thinly but guess u get more fish? Beef tataki a bit on the tough side. Sushi was not bad but for what you pay some would consider it not worth it. u can get cheaper with competition fierce in cairns but not all places can sit at a table or have a big restaurant setting. Sushi paradise is more value for money but u more or less have to take away.
On my second visit the sashimi was actually much better. Fresh Scallops were really nice. Octopus balls also quite good. Maybe they just need to improve consistency.

This place used to be one of a few in Cairns but now there are many more sushi places to choose from. I was somewhat disappointed at how little was on the 'train' so we had to order everything we liked. It was all ok for a quick lunch but I paid more than I would have liked to for a 'quick' lunch. Because of the 'more expensive' sushi prices I am reluctant to go back here with so many other choices around. Green tea Ice cream was also very expensive, about $7 a serve...needless to say I didn't try it so maybe it would've been worth it?

Food court Japanese meal is even better then this!!!. Ordered a Katudo bowl, beef bowl and ramen. For the Katudo bowl, rice are too wet and the pork chop not even crispy. For beef bowl, rice are so dry and meat overcook!!! Ramen taste okay but meat is so dry and overcook again. It is totally not worth the price. I can get better quality in a food court.

Love it. Been working in the area for a few weeks and can't stay away from the place. Great staff who are very prompt and friendly. Not much on the train but chef makes everything fresh for you. Spicy Ramen is great and the prices are very reasonable. Love the place

Tastey Japanese Sushi Train. Went there two nights in a row while on our holiday in Cairns. Very reasonable prices and great sushi; I just kept eating and eating!
The Japanese staff were great, makes me wish we had a place like this in Perth.

They claim 'ichiban ramen' out the front, but this was downright the worst ramen I've had in any establishment in any city in Australia. The tonkotsu broth was bland and tasteless, the charshu was thick and tough, and the noodles looked like they had come from cup ramen. The sushi train was also missing some basic items from the menu like squid nigiri.

Loved it. Great food and kids enjoyed the conveyor belt so they could pick up whatever they fancied. Beautiful fresh, authentic and well priced!

Very fresh seafood. Had the tuna don and the sashimi don. At $19 each. Seems expensive but large serves. Service friendly, cheerful and prompt. Very popular with locals who go for the sushi train.

Super fresh. Great service. Great value. Thanks urbanspoon buddies for pointing me in the direction of this one.

This place is awesome, we try to go there at least each month for dinner, it has great service, friendly staff and the food is a great price and is delicious.

A much better option than Sushi Train which is only a block away. Make your way to Sushi Zipang instead. If there's a queue, don't worry, it's worth the wait.

There is something so comforting about eating in an ethnic restaurant where not only is it filled with customers of that region, but also run by staff who don't speak English. It just feels so authentic. So although I battled through a conversation for wa
