Tried to get lunch today. Failed. Twice told that orders are not taken at the counter, take a seat! Table after table after table after table was cleaned. No interest in taking an order at all. Gave up. Went to the cafe by the visitors centre. Lime and pepper calamari, and roast veggies salad. Delivered within ten minutes. Recommend you go to the Visitors Center cafe!

Visited the restaurant and ordered a Thai beef salad, a bruschetta and two iced lattes and cost me $68.50! I thought that they had accidentally overcharged me, but was then told they have a 15% surcharge on weekends. I wouldn’t have minded the price (even though absolutely exorbitant) if the food was actually decent. The salad wasn’t a Thai beef salad at all, it could easily be mistaken for a Woolies packet mix of coleslaw ft celery and a few slices of green capsicum with 2 pieces of chilli and a French whole grain mustard dressing. The bruschetta was alright but again, not worth the $$$ and served on a budget hotdog bun. I questioned whether the feta cheese served on top of the bruschetta was off.
Don’t be fooled by the portion sizes, while they may generous, you’ll just be eating double the amount of bad food.
There are two places to eat in the botanic gardens, highly recommend going to the other place.

Delightful oasis in the botanical gardens.
Seating under cover, away from the hot sun, but open to the rainforest and breezes surrounding the café.
Coffee could have been a bit stronger, but the cheese cake was truely delicious.
Location is fantastic. Walking through the tropical gardens is relaxing and rewarding experience.
Staff very friendly.

Enjoyed visiting the Cairns Botanical Gardens. 🌺🌺🌺 Absolutely a must do when you're visiting Cairo's The place was clean and well maintained . It is packed with beautiful fern, plants, native birds, insects with loads more to discover. Getting close to nature is a great thing to do for mind, body and spirit. A stunning collection of flora all across the country 🦋🦋🦋⭐⭐⭐

The garden surroundings are lovely. The meals were very generous in size. $23 for a chicken Caesar salad is a bit over the top for a cafe. The kitchen staff need to improve their customer service so that patrons feel welcome. We had been sitting for sometime and no one came near us so we assumed we had to order at the counter. We felt reprimanded when one staff member said, it’s table service, sit down. It’s funny now when we think back but please improve your customer service.

I love that staff are majority First Nation. Good reflection of the owners values and being inclusive. All waitstaff were polite and attentive. Food is a tad over priced but good. Would like to see just some toasties on the menu or somthing cheap. A small fruit salad being $9.50 is overpriced. Please review your options and we might be back.

A magnificent botanical garden. Due to the nature of the weather, tropical plants obviously thrive here.

How utterly disappointing. Not even worth one star but can't review otherwise. I chose this cafe as I had been there for Mothers Day this year and lunch one day after this. Today it was appalling. This place should be shut down if they can't improve. I chose to take my brother and his wife visiting from Sydney there. Coffee was lousy, next to cold. My sister in law ordered raisin toast which came out burnt. Who sends out food like that? In hindsight we should have sent it straight back for a new order. Not one staff member bothered with a pleasant greeting or a smile. One staff member looked like she was on the verge of tears and when my brother went to the counter he overheard an argument in the kitchen. A little bit of etiquette for patrons wouldn't go astray with dress sense, one staff member wearing short shorts that revealed a bit too much as she leant over wiping the tables. Feeling so angry and embarrassed that I suggested this place now.
