Review Marinades Indian Cuisine Cairns - Cairns

Srinath Holla
We were a huge group (9 families - 34 people) who decided to have our dinner at Bombay Kitchen during our trip to Cairns. Choosing this place was definitely one of the best things we did at Cairns. We got a custom made buffet menu for the group and the food was delicious. The place is also well maintained. The staff are very friendly and the food serving is generous. If you are in Cairns, you should visit this place.

The best Indian restaurant in Cairns, serving the best Indian food I had for a while. The staff is super friendly. Highly recommended!!!

I picked the Bombay Kitchen on a whim for a lunch with my son. We were both so impressed by the food and staff! The servings were generous and the waitresses were attentive and friendly. They made great suggestions for the food. The food was absolutely delicious!! The decor and atmosphere were spot on. Fancy but not stifling.

I love good indian cuisine. This was amazing. I could not suggest a better restuarant (it even beat a fav of mine sorry umesh). The freshness of the cook and the quality of meat and sauces where phenomenal. This a must visit ❤❤, beautiful owners and it has captured my heart and taste buds

Oh my god this place is heavenly! Literally the best Indian place in Cairns. My friends and I come here all the time, and the food wows us every time. Their best item has to definitely be the cheese and garlic naan. We ordered 2 portions but it was so good we ordered 3 more haha. The curries are authentic and the staff are so sweet, definitely recommend.

Amazing experience and lovely service. On special request they made things that were not even on the menu. The food was really amazing and enjoyed the dining experience outside the store.

Today, together with my wife we went to this restaurant for dinner. They were 2 people doing absolutely everything!!! (Cooking, serving, cleaning, making drinks etc.) I am guessing they were understaffed and they still manage to provide greatest service to all customers. The food was absolutely delicious !!! One of the staff member Nancy was so incredible… such a hard working person. She was flying around the tables with the biggest smile you could imagine. The restaurant was pretty much packed with people but we didn’t wait long for the food at all! One of the best places with Indian cuisine in Cairns. I highly recommend this place for great food and professional happy staff. Thank you very much for your hospitality. Love it!!

What a best Indian meal I’ve had at Bombay Kitchen Cairns on last night dinner. We ordered Naan Butter Chicken and Tandoori. None of the dish disappointed. Butter chicken was so best. They took 20 min to bring meal to our table but considering the quality taste and freshness it was worth it. Thank you

Amazing eggplant and potato. Best I've had. Thank you.

Good Service... Great ambience... Best Food!!

We enjoyed a great potato & pea curry here, along with some well prepared naan bread. The bread was filled with a generous amount of cheese & had lovely burnt bits around the edges. Curry was well spiced & we ordered extra hot & it was!

It was a the best indian I've had, staff were friendly and welcoming, it was beautiful and clean inside and had a wonderful atmosphere. Exactly what you want in your dining experience.

Really bad staff. Uninterested and very rude to the customers that had not ordered a lot of food, but serving their hearts out to the ones who had large orders. Food was decent, but definitely not freshly prepared. Had been reheated and served immediately. Would not recommend and would never return.

Such a culinary delight this one is. I visited with my family for dinner and had one of the best Indian meals of my life! I highly recommend the non-veg platter, korma and Goan prawn curry; they were so so delicious. The staff is super friendly and accommodating too. The 3 of us had a ball there and hope to come back soon!

Went with my sister last week to this beautiful restaurant and what an experience we had! The meal was authentic and delightful. The attention we got from the staff was impressive and ambiance was too good. So glad we found Marinades, it is definitely the best Indian restaurant in Cairns!!
PABLO COGOLLOS
Lovely Restaurant and excellent Service. Mandy made our night with her smile and good recommendation of the food. We had a great time 6 of us. And we have been in many Indian restaurants in Cairns. For us is the best one and they have many Vegan options. We strongly recommend this place to anyone in Cairns that wants good healthy Indian food with a good service and a new restaurant with good music and atmosphere. phir milenge. फिर मिलेंगे

Pathetic service and lack of respect for customers, absolutely avoidable place! Food was served to us much delayed and serving staff lacks the basic courtesy of how to respond to customers queries.

Bad place. Pathetic service. Owner is lost. Food is ok but zero responsive. I do not know how such places work. Zero care for the customer. I would never ever come here.

Nice ambience, good food and great service. Quite happy with our dinner tonight, we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, butter naans and it was nice. I am quite picky about Indian food so would definitely recommend!

We've been to Aangan in Melbourne and loved it. As for Cairns?? Glad to say this is really enjoyable too. Loved the flavours and the service was on point. Kids loved it too. Nice atmosphere. Would definitely be back if we were not on holiday and just passing through. Serve sizes were spot on. Deserves more than a 3 but not quite a 4. Pleasent and worth a try.

Great Food as well as quantity is also good, everyone should definitely try it. Taste is equally good like Indian food in India. Also prices are bery nominal.

I’d give a 5 star rating for the Indian food they serve in cairns! We had chicken tikka masala and also tasted gravies of butter chicken and rogan josh. Butter chicken was the best of them all. Even better than some of the Gurgaon/ Delhi based restaurants!

It was pretty busy for a Wednesday night. Food came out fast and it was tasty. The garlic naan was probably not as fluffy as some other Indian restaurants, it was a bit flat. Butter chicken and lamb vindaloo was flavoursome and very enjoyable. Place was clean and service was good.
Gingerandcoconut
Delicious food and friendly service. They accommodated our dietary requirements with no issues at all. 100% recommend it! Will definitely come back.

Highly recommended ! The best Indian food you can find in Cairns.

A dining place with a nice ambience, excellent Service and authentic flavours. Has a good variety of dishes to offer in the menu.

We ordered tandoori mushroom for starters, for mains it was bagrella baingans and paneer butter masala with lasooni naans and tandoori roti in bread. Our order for the night was flavourful and breads were fresh going along well with the main dishes.

The food is just all right. Did not find anything great.
Service quality is horrible. Waited almost 1hr 15 mins to get the food. Such a waste of our time!!
Not coming back for sure.

A very nice Indian restaraunt with amazingly tasty food and quick service. They were very hospitable. Food was authentic. A definite recommend for anyone looking out for indian food in Cairns.

Terrific food - the lamb vindaloo was spicy and delicious..i am an indian food lover from melbourne and did not expect there is an indian restaurant this good in Cairns!

The last day in Cairns - We were looking for a place for dinner which would be like the icing on the cake after a memorable trip to this great place and glad my wife found this gem.

Lasooni naan - Oh man! Never had such good naans even back in India. Soft and fluffy with right amount of garlic blended in without overpowering the actual taste. A winner!
Aloo Parantha - On the average side. The filling could have been better.
Paneer Butter masala - Just delicious! I have had it in other restaurants where it will either be very sweet or very buttery and creamy. This was just perfect with right amount of ingredients mixed together to create a delicious dish.
Veg biriyani - Can't complain about this one. We were too full by the time we finished half of this and decided to take it away.

At the end of the meal, I was just wishing I could pack this restaurant and take it back with me to Melbourne! Will definitely be the 1st stop when we visit Cairns again.

The ambiance was nice, and warm. Food was really good..the lasooni naan and lamb madrasi reminded of the indian spices coming straight from mom's spice storage! However, the price we paid for the taste, not the quantity.
But just two cues-
The curry quantity was just enough for 4 naans (measuring scale is not 2 people, because i was so excited and hungry that i could've even devoured 6 naans)
We thought of having biriyani. But that was also served in the same sized handis as the curries. That's really not fair :(. I'm sure those who had it, were half-fed. In traditional restos, if you dont have handis or bowls to serve biriyani, simply the biriyani is served on the plate, the meat served on top or side, with little salad to make the plate look fuller.
People who are on diet, or who usually (and always) eat less, will find this place mesmerizing.
For the Great Indian Bhukkad, carry a good balance, or be ready to hunt out for more in the night markets..

The food is authentic Indian, probably the best you would get in Cairns. We had ordered a dal, a butter chicken, palak paneer and a biriyani. The food was good, at par with what you would expect from a good restaurant back home in Delhi.

A lovely surprise; excellent curries and breads, plus a lovely owner who was happy to chat at length about the menu. Wish this place was back home in Melbourne!

Went to this restaurant in December 2013, wen i was on a trip to Australia.
A very good choice to have Indian cuisine in cairns.
Had dum aaloo, dal.makhni n butter naan.
Dum aaloo were exceptionally good.
breads were soft n crispy.
For me it was a perfect place to have indian food in cairns.

Consistently yummy indian food over years of going here. Also well priced for budget conscious people with good portions. Or try the lunch Tali's for a cheap meal and to taste a few things. My vegetarian favourite is the rich and delicious Paneer Mahkani. Also the beautifully textured eggplant dish. In house lime pickle is great. The lamb Biryani has also been consistently good. I am not sure about the other meat dishes. A nice treat for lunch or dinner, we go whenever my family visits from out of town. Usually a warm atmosphere too.
MY REVIEW IS UNBIASED AND NOT DEPENDENT ON MY MOOD AT THE TIME
FOOD QUALITY. ... 4.5 / 5
FOOD QUANTITY. ... 5 / 5
AMBIENCE ............... 3 / 5
SERVICE ................... 2.5 / 5
Our 1st day in cairns and looking for a perfect indian meal .. thank u zomato for bringing us tho this much deserved 4 star place .... true to its pedigree ... we ordered a non veg thali .. which had the right portion of lamb .. chicken .. and vegetables like dal .. subjee .. perfect for an all round indian culinary experience. . We also ordered malaise kofta ... it's traditionally sweet and not as spicy as the one served here . A bit disappointed there .. but the owner was kind enuff to share a fact that local ozzie like it a bit spicy .. so no complaints there . We also called for a papad platter. . Interesting. .
Overall . A good experience ..
I WILL COME BACK .. FOR SURE .

First meal made us feel so great after we have been here for two days. Great food and good service. My parents love here after that we got super disappointed by the Chinese restaurant in city. But the marinades made our night. Thank you so much.

Great flavours and authentic gravy. Yummy bread and lots of options for vegetarians. The service was a bit disjointed, but overall this was a good choice for dinner

After a much hyped advertisement me and my partner visited for dinner at this restaurant. As the adverstised in every queensland hotels it says cuisine from various parts of india, malvani , west , east , coastal etc etc. To our surprise there wasnt any of these so called cuisine its like any other indian restaurant u will come across.

Well after the disappointment we ordered the entree one lamb chops and fish tikka both are so simple and quick to cook but arrived on our table after 45 mins !!! I swear am not exaggerating 45 mins for an entree , another hour for our mains i spent $104 on food and drinks but no value for money on the other hand we also witnessed few more guests walking out as the food was taking ages to be served !!

Please avoid this restaurant u will get more better one in cairns

Thanks

Friday night dinner, did book. We had the lamb vindaloo, Goan fish curry and palak paneer, rice & roti. And it was lovely! Have missed good authentic Indian food since moving from west Melb and this place sure did delivery! Service though lacking general friendliness, was fast and efficiently! And meals were generous seizes packed with flavour! Will be back!

Worth visiting when next in Cairns people. Owner friendly and accommodating. Wait staff efficient and friendly also. I loved it and my 5 year old who had Chicken Madras loved it too!! More than enough food served and very reasonable price.

Worth a Visit. This is the only one Indian restaurant I have visited in Cairns, so I cannot compare it with any other Indian restaurants. But The Marinades turned out to be great. Good value for money.

We ordered Mango Lassi, Handi Gosht, Chicken Tikka Masala and Naans. All turned out to be much better than expected. The CTM had a unique gravy that just exploded in your mouth.

The service was courteous and systematic. And unlike the other restaurants on the Esplanade. overrun with tourists, one can have a peaceful meal in relative quiet, with the background music turned down to a realistic volume.

While I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again, I would also like to try the other Indian restaurants the next time I am in Cairns.

Loved the bengali fish curry - tasty and a little spicy. Will definitely be back!

Deep regret. Went for lunch last week only to hear that meena had passed away, what a wonderfully lady, now gone, she will remain in our hearts for ever, always made people so welcome never showing signs of discomfort or illness, as always the food was the best but hard to fully enjoy after the news, Ingrid had George,

We love it!. We've dined for lunch at Marinades many many times, and every single time is a wonderful experience. We generally have the triple garlic naan with lamb saag and chickpea masala with a little rice. The food is always a delight and consistently delicious and fills us up with food left over. We love their service which is always friendly and professional with a beautiful warm smile welcoming us as we enter their establishment. The wine is always nice and only have a suggestion to perhaps make a few changes to the offering and use either gas or a sealant method to keep the wine tasting nice all the way to the end of the bottle. The only disappointment we've ever experienced there is when their not open and we're hungry!
Yum Yum
Ok but not spectacular. Entree Murg bazaari kebab (chicken) was cooked to perfection. Absolute highlight. Butter chicken was watery in the sauce and pretty average. Naan bread pretty thin and I've certainly had better. Nice place and lovely staff. Overall food was ok but not spectacular.

Good flavours! My only grouch was that we had takeaway and the containers were small :(
Vic
Definitely in my top 5 Best Indian restaurants in QLD! Great food, service and atmosphere. Only criticism was the long wait between starters and mains and they were only at about 30% capacity. But it was damn worth the wait!
Helena De Schutter
Incredible flavours. This is quite simply the best Indian restaurant we have ever dined at. Wish this restaurant was located in Adelaide instead!

Really tasty Indian food. It's butter chicken is one of the better ones I've had around Australia. Friendly staff, great service.

One of the few indian resturaunts that when you ask for it "hot" actually make it hot. top food. great service!!

The Bagarela Baigan, an eggplant based dish from Hyderabad was a new one for us and we enjoyed the flavours. The chicken saag and Bengali fish curry were both also good.
