Food was great. Bar service in the restaurant was great. However, rude service in the sports bar from a guy who made sure you knew he didn't want to be there. BUT you HAVE TO do the scan and order on your phone AND THEN you get hit with a fee for using a system that we didn't want to use in the first place. Will be thinking twice before I go back due to this!

Wouldn't return because of the new ordering system, can't order or pay without a phone, what about the elderly, people who don't own a phone or intellectually disabled. You can't order garlic bread to come out separately and with a party of people it's majorly difficult. Too many other places to eat that offer human contact and service. The place was empty and the staff recommended we do the table review as they did not like the system and stated they had so many complaints about it.

Stopped in for dinner a couple of nights ago, service and food was fantastic as always, but love the new ordering system! Staff were super helpful explaining the ordering system - so convenient, will definitely be back. Thanks Balaclava Hotel for a great night!

The restaurant has no printed menu. They insist you must use your phone or you can't order. It must be cheaper and easier for management i presume. Let me me know when I can peruse your menu and order with my particular tastes and I'll come back.

Very disappointing!!!! Went for dinner last night. Shocked to be greeted with an online app ordering and payment option ONLY.... we were 2 minutes early, so couldn't even view the menu!!!! Also really fun having 6 people try to pick a meal on 1x small phone!!! Really impersonal and horrid!!! Don't forget the fact that we were charged an additional $2.05 for a payment surcharge!!! What a rort!!! Food was expensive and very low quality.... Roast of the day for our senior parent was more like minute steak cooked to an old boot level, Schnitzel parmy had a tiny smear of tomato paste and cold ham/cheese on the top - not even close to being melted..... The only saving grace was the lovely waitress Kate as she was most apologetic and understanding. We will not be back!!! Avoid!!!! Tried to leave a review at the table as per the app request but it was declined as it was negative and wanted us to speak to the manager.... if you can't handle honest feedback there's something wrong!!! All in all the night cost us nearly $150 and nobody was happy with their meal

steak was cooked perfectly how i asked - good stuff. gravy tasted like cardboard. steak and chips could have used more seasoning. annoying to pay extra fee for electronic meal ordering. they don’t give you any other option, you can’t order food in person.

Had dinner with a group of friends. Totally inconsistent meals. 3 friends ordered the King Avo Schnitzel. Each had different amount of Avocado and hollandaise sauce. 2 had Chicken burgers. 1 plate had twice the amount of chips as the other. Complete food envy overload. Tasted overall not bad.

Food was excellent and staff were friendly however the new way of ordering is problematic. I have family who aren’t tech savvy or have smart phones and had been turned away because they were unable to order online. It takes much longer to order and you can’t make changes to suit your taste. Further, an order wasn’t sent to the kitchen and we were unaware it didn’t make it. It’s frustrating not being able to order at the counter. It should be a choice

I've eaten here regularly for ten years. It's my 'go to' place for an inexpensive steak lunch. There's not a scrap of meat left on my plate once I'm finished. And the crunchy chips and freshly made Caesar salad that come with the steak are great as well. Amazing specials for the kids too... I sometimes bring my little boy who spends most of his time ion the play room :) Looking forward to my next steak at Balaclava Hotel... might be today actually.

Went to BALACLAVA HOTEL for lunch on January 5, 2018. We were shown to table 33. After looking at menu we decided on "battered fish and chips" and an Italian salad. We waited and waited and after 45 minutes decided that enough was enough. We were told that "chef was plating up our order"...after another 10 minutes we were served. Chips were "battered"...???! Fish was almost impossible to be cut and the Italian salad was totally covered in masses and masses of raw spinach. Underneath all that spinach there were 4 cut-in-half cherry tomatoes, some big chunks of dried out feta cheese, lots and lots of onion and 5 olives the lot was swimming in a very sour vinegar dressing. Yes we have pictures of this very expensive very sorry meal. Would we visit the restaurant again...definitely NO..would we recommend the restaurant ... definitely NO...it was a shameful and costly event. Had we not paid before receiving our meals we would have left...well before the 55 minutes were over!

There's one of my favourite place!! $10 off all steak and $5 craft beer Thursday night!! I highly recommend steak and pork ribs.

I would love to score based on customer service only as it was great. .however the food was terrible. I have never experienced eating duck which tasted so awful and dry. Sad considering the staff were exceptionally good.

Love it there as always not much of a fan of the new carpet or chairs tho. Besides that, staff are great and friendly and food is always on point! Hence why we are regulars !

Thanks so much for the $200 voucher I was lucky enough to win. Four friends and I had a great lunch today. Great friendly service. Staff without exception went above and beyond. Food was awesome. Great tender steaks and don’t think anyone was able to finish the generous serves. Thanks so much for a very enjoyable afternoon

For the price of the meal the tables should be waited on... And the Big Kids need to stay OUT of the kids club, watch their language, remember there small Kids playing there.....

We had tea there last night and then the staff were lovely enough to pull down a tv screen in a small section of the dining room so my husband and I could watch Essendon vs Crows, as all the other screens were NRL.
