Review The Bean Shak - Caloundra

Was the closest place open to where we were staying. Was pleasantly surprised. Had bacon eggs and mushroom omelette, muffin and coffee. Service was great, staff was friendly food was good and coffee was excellent. Muffin could have been a bit fresher, that’s why only 4/5

Our recent experience was very lovely. The lady serving us asked all the right questions….do you want your meal and coffee served together? She even came with extra plates. She must have known we were sharing the meal. Plus our Omelette was cooked perfectly and ‘twas delicious

Wish i read the reviews before i ordered. The fact other cafes nearby were busy and this one was empty should have been a big hint. Anyway, coffee was good, dessert was stale, mediocre, but mainly the place seems to be operated by tired, struggling staff, trying to do their best even with the minimal customers. A bit like the aging sports star who should have hung up the boots a few years ago. Probably time to sell and let fresh legs and passion move in.

Went in for a coffee and saw nice looking fruit scones so ordered them too. My partner had sat at a timber bench table and had I had a good look at it before I ordered would most certainly have walked out. To get honest with the pandemic I’m surprised that they were able to trade with some of the conditions of the tables. I wiped ours down before we sat. Coffee came out in good time although they weren’t busy but waited and waited for our scone. I walked in and 2 women just chatting and service boy was walking in the kitchen eating. They had forgotten about the scone and when they finally brought it out it was the wrong type of scone. We’d finished our coffee by then so didn’t bother saying anything. They did bring out a fully stamped rewards card for 2 future free coffees but as we found a much better place on the golden beach waterfront afterwards we will be going there from now on. The place needs a total refurbish

I don’t understand stand how ONE slice of tip top raisin toast is $6 - I honestly just feel like I have been robbed not to mention it took 35 minutes. I would of been better of walking 20 meters to spar and getting a whole loaf and toasting it myself. A piece for me, and all the birds would of got a bit too! I wouldn’t feel so robbed and got some enjoyment for my $6. Coffee is average.

Friendly staff member who went out of her way to accommodate our needs with food choice. Best hot chocolate in a while.

4/10 This place was great a few years ago. Something has changed in the backend somewhere... Unhappy staff, average food quality and not very good value for money. We came at 12pm and it felt like everything was rushed because they didn't want to be open (at 12pm!)

Didnt get served as lady serving thought it was more important to have a gossip catchup with the lady in there than taking orders stood at door for five minutes with wife then left. We had previously brought coffee and breakfast there the last 3 mornings with no problems what a difference a poor staff member makes.
