Review Santucci's Cafe - Camberwell

Lovely staff and chill vibe in there! Coffee is always good with delicate latte art! The food is very fresh and nicely presented. There is a spacious outdoor sitting with plenty of seats! The only thing is that the chairs and walls are slightly stained.

We ordered some breakfast, felt like the franchise had new owners. The staff were kind and respectful. The food took some time but it was fresh and delicious.

Was so good. Service was great and they offered to have us sit even though they were closing soon. I got the banana and raspberry bread and my mum got the fig and walnut bread. Great coffee and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate comes with a marshmallow and TINY TEDDIES! yum! Great atmosphere and so cozy

April 2021: Lovely cafe/restaurant. Coffee and cakes are delicious. Friendly service with a smile. Please drop by and say 'hello' to Jen and amazingly attentive crew. Highly recommended.

Fantastic coffee and friendly staff. Can't wait for the time to sit back and chill in the arvo with a drink in this comfy cafe. Unfortunately there's no wifi available which is surprising given the prices and they are still closing early and unreliably. That being said, it's still a great place to relax if you find the time.

A great find, delicious food and friendly, welcoming staff. Had the beef brisket which was juicy and flavoursome, topped with two perfectly poached eggs on a slice of crusty sourdough. Friend had the fried chicken burger - one which he could barely fit in his mouth and thoroughgoing enjoyed (note: comes with chips that he'd managed to devour within minutes) Sorry, started eating before remembering to whip the phone out!

Nice coffee. I used to buy one every morning when I worked nearby. I also like their Reuben sandwich. Very tasty. It's a small place so can feel a little cramped.

You’ll want to become a regular! This place is perfect. It offers outside, courtyard, and cosy indoor dining options. The menu is broad and I can confidently say will cater to all tastes any time of day. We enjoy being greeted like long lost friends and note this is consistent for all customers of this beautifully run family business. Simply cannot fault this little gem for it’s lovingly made fresh food and it’s outstandingly attentive service. And did I mention how good the coffee is?! A visit will not disappoint :)

With all this social isolation and working from homes it had been ages since I had ventured out for a good coffee so today’s takes away coffee tasted absolutely delicious. All the tables were pushed aside but they were still making coffee and had some delicious cakes and slices and banana breads in the cabinet that we grabbed.

My big skinny latte was served nice and hot so still a good heat by the time we got home and KD’s strong almond milk latte packed quite a good hit of caffeine.

We toasted the banana raspberry & banana and blueberry breads at home. A wonderful WFH breakfast.

Priced a sign advertising fresh takeaway dinners available for sale and reheating at home for $15 each and some of the options sounded delicious. Worth considering for the future i think.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Previous Review
The covered courtyard of Santucci’s was rustic and charming and filled with plenty of natural lighting and a giant heater for those colder days. We chose this spot to sit when we visited for Sunday brunch as it was nice a quiet and roomy space.
The menu read well and seemed quite classic with a strong focus on savoury. That’s said there was a delicious sounding french toast that we just had to try.
Coffee and Chai first up. The coffee was nice and hot just like I like and quite smooth and milk well frothed so good for picture art. The chai seemed authentic and wasn’t overly sweet. We also had a nice melons juice which was predominantly watermelon based, always refreshing.
We had the giant corn and sweet potato fritter, the tacos and the French toast for our brunch today.
The corn and sweet potato fritters were pretty as a picture and came with two perfectly poached eggs, a beetroot purée and dots of bright saffron aioli. I really enjoyed this dish.
The tacos mentioned on the specials menu were beef but we received thin crumbed chicken which was equally welcome by us. The coleslaw that accompanied the chicken on these toasted taco shells was flavoursome and juicy too... yum
Owner and chef Kelvin has had
Many years of industry experience working in hotel kitchens and in running other cafes and as such likes to change and flex the specials menu almost weekly here so there is always something new to try on repeat visits.
Our last dish was the French toast and this was exceptionally plated. This brioche french toast came with marshmallow, choc wafer, fruit, custard dots and plenty of maple. It was relatively light for a french toast as brioche wasn’t super thick cut and I liked this fact.
A really great brunch meal and a lot of interesting dishes still on the menu that we didn’t get to try. Thanks so much for inviting us in. Santucci’s is only a hop away from our home in Box Hill South so it’s good to know a great local.
Staff were welcoming and lovely. A freshly squeezed glass of juice, smashed avo and a nice seat in the corridor strip are a winning combination! Hope to come back again soon
I love the eclectic mix of Santucci’s decor - not many cafes like this. The service is friendly and atmosphere is very welcoming. Really enjoyed the food here from the eggs Benny, the brekkie burger, mushrooms as well as the brioche French toast. Will definitely be back for more!
For capsicum lovers, I would definitely recommend the Vietnamese Chicken salad. Ordered this, I was expecting a salad with more of noodle like in Vietnam.
Staff was polite and lovely. I ordered the crispy southern fried chicken waffles and didn't expect the waffle to be much smaller than the portion of chicken. It was also very stale, like it has been sitting out for a few days. The chicken was delicious though. Loved the spicy maple syrup too. Overall a 3/5 for the dish.
We went there for a Zipkick event and got to try their new dishes!! This is a humble cafe that resides in Camberwell, right along side a tram line. We loved visiting the lovely cafe, it offers a quaint and cosy environment. There is a lovely outback area, it’s very country style and a great place to go to meet with friends or get some work done! We loved the food! We ordered the Beef Brisket Hollandaise, the French Toast and the Smashed avo! You can see how beautiful and vibrant the dishes, and the flavour was scrumptious on each one! Highly recommend visiting soon!
Had the opportunity to try the new menu and it was tasty AF!
I got to try the smashed avo, chia pudding, chilli mushrooms, brekkie burger, beef cheek benedict and smoked salmon open toast.
Each dish was flavoursome and well balanced. Some highlights were the beef cheek benny which was tender and topped with a perfectly poached egg. The brekkie burger had extra crispy bacon and that rosti is a genius addition.
Overall the new menu is exciting and delicious. You won't regret stopping in for a feed.
Santucci’s layout and design is of an older more rustic time incorporating light and delicious foods with an amazing vibrant presentation. Their hallway is almost photographic in the way it’s been laid out. Definitely one for the brunch community
Hello. Imnikki
Santucci's new menu launch took place over the weekend and I was lucky enough to try out some of the new dishes. A perk when you dine in a big group is the crazy amount of dishes you will get to try. Beef Cheek Benny, Smashed Avo, Chilli Mushrooms, French Toast, Chia Pudding, Smoked Salmon Open Sandwich, and Corn and Sweet Potatoes Fritters were the dishes we got to indulged in.
A sweet tooth like me will find it hard to go past the French Toast. Adorning a thick slice of soft and fluffy bread are vanilla ice cream, crushed homemade honeycomb, vanilla custard, assorted fruits and finally drizzled with Mork dark chocolate sauce. The zesty flavours of the fruits, the bittersweet chocolate and the candied undertones from the honeycomb come together to create an explosion of flavours.
The Beef Cheek Benny was a crowd favourite, and it's no surprise why when the 12 hours beef cheek was so incredibly tender, moist and flavourful. The homemade BBQ sauce lent a smoky sweetness to the dish, and whoever had the genius idea to add sweet potatoes chips deserves a medal.
The Smoked Salmon Open Sandwich was something that I would definitely order if I wanted something light and healthy. Fresh, bright and delicate flavours, with a hint of richness from the cheese. Simple yet delightful.
Chilli Mushrooms is a dish that always go down well with anyone because who doesn't like mushies? An assortment of juicy mushies, chilli soy bean sauce, radish pesto and truffle oil, this dish is a surefire hit. A fusion of East meets West flavours that go together hand in hand.
Coffee hit the spot too, as did the dragon fruit smoothie.
The vintage decor of cafe made for a cosy and homely vibe, and the touch of greeneries dotted around added a calming touch to the atmosphere. A lovely cafe that warrants a return visit.
If you want a good coffee this is the place to go. My strong almond latte was absolutely delicious. This cafe checks the coffee quality every 2-3 hours and it works. My latte had some great milk froth and the coffee flavour was some of the best I've had in a while. Yes a big call but true.
Food wise I ordered the corn and cauliflower fritters w a side of crispy bacon. Woo hoo jackpot lol
This consisted of spiced carrot hummus, herb mushrooms, 2 perfectly poached eggs, cherry tomatoes and of course the crispy cauliflower and corn fritters. This was sooo delicious, every mouthful was so tasty! And my side of crispy bacon, OMGosh yes yes yes!! The bacon was just perfect. Crispy, flavoursome and it wasn't burnt! Yay.
My partner ordered the Siracha and maple glazed bacon dish which came with smashed avocado, lemon and coriander on sourdough toast w a perfectly poached egg. Everything was fresh, full of flavour and it was another amazing dish.
To finish I ordered a dragon fruit smoothie and this was definitely the icing on the cake. It was really cold, but not frozen, thick as you'd expect but I didn't need 2 straws or a spoon lol
This drink had so much flavour, and it was a guilty pleasure that I'd definitely have again and again.
This is definitely one of my most memorable brunch experiences in some time. Thanks to the owners for the kind invitation to visit their cafe.
This place is definitely worth a visit.
This place serves great coffee although a tad small in volume. I had their blueberry ricotta cheesecake which was excellent. Using ricotta cheese was a great idea. Their veggie lentil soup was scrumptious and full of all the good stuff. I also tried their fruit muffin which had strawberry jam, apple and kiwi fruit. It was moist and packed with flavour! A great place for a quick bite and recharge.
Got the maple bacon Siracha avo smash, perfect blend of flavours.. a little spicy, sweet and zingy with the lemon. Boyfriend also enjoyed his baked eggs and coffee was pretty good. Quick service, will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Santucci's Cafe is a cute little cafe bursting with big flavour. I had the burger special of the week which was a Crispy Chicken Burger. For $20 it included chips, I left feeling very content. They also do a pretty good coffee.
About time we tried this Camberwell cafe institution! Straight away we were hit with the inviting atmosphere almost a home dining room feel with eclectic comfy wooden chairs and high wooden tables (very different to the light bright Son of Tucci & Mr Tucci)
The food was a delight and exceeded my expectations, beautifully poached eggs and balanced meals were gobbled up by all! The good coffee was appreciated as was the dark hot chocy.
The service was uninspiring, this place could easily be a 5 stars with some focus in this area.
This cosy cafe definitely gets busy! We visited on a Sunday at 9.30am for some brunch. We had the fritters, maple bacon and avo on toast and the smoothie bowl. The highlight was the sirarcha maple bacon! Something unique from the average bacon!
The smoothie bowl was tasty however it tasted more like a yoghurt bowl but it was still good.
The staff were friendly and attentive. We loved the more relaxing courtyard at the back.
Ordered:
- Tomato Bruschetta with Halloumi
Cute courtyard set up and it definitely left an impression from myself and my girlfriend when we visited the cafe! I ordered the bruschetta which blew my mind; the mixture of ingredients blended nicely and the portions were just right. Service was amazinggggggg and very accommodating. Would definitely come back again!
I have been to Santucci's twice and both time the food was wonderful, filling and delicious! Portion is great and the ingredients are super fresh. I also love the mixed up furniture and style of the restaurant and it also has a covered outdoor seating area behind which adds a lot to the ambience. The few let downs are the service, as staff can be seen talking amongst themselves and not being attentive to the diners/customers to take orders and also the coffee. I work close by and generally prefer coffee elsewhere as they have better roast but that might be just preference. I would pass on their smoothies and iced lattes (which they serve in a hot latte cup?).
Located on Toorak road in Camberwell discover Santucci’s cafe, a friendly cafe loved by it’s locals and customers alike. For some people this cosy cafe maybe a little dark on the inside, but we feel that it just adds to the warm and inviting feel of this cafe. At Santucci’s cafe they serve specialty coffee, a menu packed full of a delicious range of all day brunch options and not forgetting a scrumptious offering of home baked goods that you should definitely try. We love that the menu at Santucci’s cafe in Camberwell really does cover all the bases, from a healthy start to the day, to your classic brunch favourites through to something more substantial that you can really indulge in.
Santucci is a really trendy cafe in the heart of Camberwell, was really convenient to find parking. I absolutely love the decor of this cafe and the food is incredible! My favourite was the Bruschetta and French toast which was beautifully presented and tastes AMAZING. The staff were friendly and provided great recommendations and we felt really welcomed. I would definitely go back to try all the other dishes. Thank you for having us!
Santucci’s is located on Toorak Road in Camberwell. The interior is vintage style & very relaxed with a lovely display of old coffee makers & a packed bookshelf for customers to peruse. A cute little walkway led us out the back to a spacious rear covered courtyard. Such a gorgeous tranquil space, exposed brick & plenty of plants & light. We really loved the handles to the sliding door, recycled coffee portafilters.
We started with iced lattes & ordered a few dishes to share. With an Asian influenced menu, the staff were really helpful in giving us suggestions.
The Santucci green breakfast was a fantastic dish, packed with veggies, beetroot hummus & a delicious crispy halloumi polenta.
The tomato bruschetta with halloumi was a standout dish & the presentation was stunning. Tomato salsa, Yarra Valley feta & haloumi with smashed mint peas on pumpkin toast it was a tasty spin on a classic bruschetta. The flavour of the smashed peas worked brilliantly with the tomatoes & cheese & the pumpkin toast was a nice touch.
We finished with the brioche French toast. The plating of this dish was so pretty & the flavours were divine & not too sweet. Plenty of fresh fruit & a really yummy coconut caramel sauce. The perfect dish to end our brunch.
The staff were super friendly & helpful and we loved the relaxed feel of the back courtyard area. The food at Santucci’s was really impressive & we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thanks so much for having us in.
Santicci’s has been around for such a long time and there is a reason why- It’s superb.
From the time you walk in the front door you’re greeted by all of the staffs smiling faces and it’s really difficult to choose where to sit as there are so many options, all being lovely. If you’re just having a couple of drinks- please sit in the courtyard it’s picturesque.
The food and drinks are works of art with good portion sizes, great value and super tasty!
I’m so glad that I don’t live too far away from this fantastic cafe.
See you guys soon 😊💗☕️
We went for brunch for this wonderful little cafe! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is amazing! We all ordered a different dish and each one of us loved them!
Friendly staff. We went for quick breakfast. We had cheese vegmate toast and apple iced tea and skinny flat white. I though vegmate toast and iced tea was bit expensive but it was actually very nice.Thank you put into take away container as we are bit hurry.
Beautiful dish and good ambience, super friendly service! The French toast I ordered was so delicious! Nice coffee too! Definitely come again!
Good Food Good Mood
I was a guest of Santuccis today, a lovely little rustic retro cafe in Camberwell. The space is quite extensive and we sat in the covered courtyard out the back which was pleasantly dotted with trailing ivy and other greenery.
We chose to order the brioche French toast, corn and sweet potato fritter and the slow cooked beef taco special. I had a chai while we waited which wasn’t in the easiest of jugs to pour and I subsequently spilt it all over the table. I then ordered a fruity watermelon juice but it didn’t materialise until after we had finished eating and only post my enquiry as to its whereabouts.
All dishes were spectacularly presented and very colourful. The eggs were perfectly poached too. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the French toast which allowed the fresh fruit to shine and give it flavour. The fritter was also a very flavoursome dish with a lot going on between the sliced avo, the saffron mayo and beetroot hummus (although the menu did dictate smashed avocado).
The taco dish was the surprise for me as slow cooked beef was replaced by crispy chicken with avocado. I believe the kitchen may have done this believing it would be more photogenic so I assume this wouldn’t happen to a regular customer. Fortunately we don’t have an obscure dietary requirement that is anti poultry because we weren’t asked. Regardless the dish was tasty enough.
I was definitely impressed overall as the menu is quite simple mostly comprised of classics which had incorrectly led me to assume the dishes would be boring but they certainly exceeded expectations
Came to try this place the first time. To be honest,very disappointed on the food. Ordered french toast. However, this colourful plate came, but exo me? where is the thick custard and hazelnut crumble? and where did the oreo and mashmallows come from (did not see them listed in the menu)? Not mentioned to the customer that the menu is lisiting different things to what you are going to see(I dont eat oreo and mashmallows at all)!and i am really not happy to pay $17 for this thin toast (doesnt taste or even look like french toast at all) and just the seasonal fruit. Asked the waitress about it, didnt receive a satisfied answer for it which means I will just have to suck it. will never come back again.
Went here recently with my mum! Staff very attentive, friendly and happy to receive and respond to feedback. Vietnamese chicken salad was lovely. Only negative was that it was very cold like it was straight out of the freezer. Will be coming back!!
Val
I had a coconut chicken salad and a lemon ricotta cake. The coconut chicken salad was good, I like the smell and the taste of the fry veggies and the chicken, it’s more like Asian style salad so they don’t serve it as a fresh green salad. The lemon ricotta cake were so nice, very balancing between the sweetness and the sourness. I had their coffee with coconut milk, the staff were actually suggested me best to have their coffee with normal milk and I believe that she was right as the coffee that I had tasted not so great, it’s not their fault tho I should just have it as they said.
I’m disappointed that it took so long to try this place! I came here with a group of 10 one Sunday morning and we loved it. Awesome menu, full of delicious choices. Lovely outside area with fab heaters and the service was wonderful. Will definitely be back - one of the best brunch spots in Melb.
Look, I am not going to waste your time and write a long story here. I ve been here several times in the past and already I lost the count, so you know what I mean & it's got a 5 from me 😉.
Have you seen a more gorgeous dish ?
Corn fritters with eggs, avacodo, beetroot and mustard. Looks better than it tastes, but still pretty good. Juices are quite nice as well.
Definitely worth a try. I might go again !
A nicely decorated little cafe that feels quite cosy with darker feel inside with framed artworks and photos on the dark blue walls. Ordered the 12 hr slow cooked brisket eggs benny and an iced matcha latte. The brisket benny was so so good! The brisket was so tender and rich of flavours. There are chunks of sweet potato fries hiding under the perfectly poached eggs that gave the crunchy texture and adds sweetness and saltiness to the dish. Cut the yolk open and that beautiful yolk oozes over the fries and the brisket layers. YUMM. It was also served with cayenne pepper or paprika flakes on the side which was a nice addition, giving that option to make it slightly spicy if you prefer it. Big Kudos to the chef. If I was only rating the food, i would have given it a 5 out of 5.
Their service however, was a let down. They seem to have forgotten my iced matcha order, then gave me wrong drink (some green mixed juice smoothie). Then the guy who seemed to be the owner took the wrong drink and replaced it. He didn’t let me finished that drink although I already said that it was ok not to give me my original order because I actually enjoyed that faulty drink. Iced matcha latte arrived and the other drink was taken away from me. Iced matcha was bland and could hardly taste the matcha in it. On top of that, it the end, the staff at the cashier said “We actually gave you a 50cents discount on your drink because of our mistake”. I was like, o-kay....then thinking 🤔. Last time I checked on the menu, it was that same price. So no, actually you did not give me any discount at all. I did not feel like arguing over 50cents. As if 50cents would have changed a lot anyway🙄 . I really wish their management (if new owner was in place) would improve their service and customer service, because I would really love to come back for their beautiful food.
Bite The Looks By BHA
The cafe is located close to my home. Im really excited to go here. I’ve been telling my friends to go here since i heard the good rumours about it. We tried the chai latte, french toast, egg pork benedict & salmon brioche. So far, it was lift up to my expectation! The french toast was perfect, the pork benedict was delicious and the salmon brioche is a bit dry for me. The place was nice, but it was a bit packed and crowded. Overall, it was good experience for me! #BHAsFoodDiary
A cute little cafe that has a largely local feel with its rustic, retro furnishings and decor. Great if you live nearby and want somewhere to sip on your coffee and read the paper, or if you're catching up with friends over a tasty meal. They serve all-day breakfast and lunch, along with a selection of sandwiches that are better than average.
Food Coma Survivor
I absolutely loved the sandwiches here, I got the Reuben sandwich (because the sauerkraut caught my eye) and the pork belly one. Everything was so good, the Reuben sandwich was amazing with the mustard and the cheese, and the pork belly skin was crispy and went really well with the apple. We also got the lamb burger (which was a special) and that was also great. Portions were generous, and presentation was spot on. The interiors were adorable, and the shelves displayed trinkets and old coffee brewers. The soy lattes were to die for, and I would definitely come back again.
Took my husband out for breakfast at this cute little restaurant with an even cuter dog out front! Not going to lie, I don't really remember what it was called but I do recall the rosti was superb. All done!
Nestled amongst the hustle and bustle of Burwood Village sits a buzzing yet quaint café with a lot of heart. Walking into Santucci’s, we felt right at home. Greeted almost immediately by a smiling worker, we were led to our table in the cosy indoor seating area and took in our surroundings. The walls were adorned with antiques from shoe moulds to old-school coffee percolators and vintage paintings. Further down, there was a walkway with seating which led to a gorgeous undercover outdoor courtyard with exposed brick and hanging plants- perfect for a warm, sunny Melbourne day.
Greeted by our lovely waitress, Madeline, we scoured the menu and placed our order.
For drinks, we ordered a double-shot extra hot cappuccino with lactose-free milk (that was definitely a mouthful…pardon the pun!) and the RITA- freshly squeezed apple, beetroot, lemon and ginger juice. The coffee was delivered in a perfect-sized cup and was smooth and creamy (though my guest likes the heat to sear her tongue, so it was possibly not hot enough). The juice, whilst slightly warm, was absolutely deelish! The beetroot gave the juice an earthy flavour and texture, whilst the apple and lemon provided the perfect balance of sweetness.
Usually we like to order two completely different dishes and share, but when we looked at the menu, we knew this was a different story.
I’m a huge fan of chili scrambles, and after spending weeks seeing pictures of Santucci’s interpretation, I NEEDED to try it!
*Chilli chorizo scramble with broad bean & edamame salsa, soft herbs, crispy shallots and thyme-buttered mushrooms on pumpkin sourdough with a balsamic glaze.
Oh mah lawwwwd, it was ABSOLUTELY delicious! The scramble was creamy, the chorizo was flavoursome without being overpowering, the mushrooms were perfect and the pumpkin bread was crispy and delicious (whilst still maintaining the ability to cut into it). The broad bean and edamame salsa was a very unique but welcome addition to the dish, and the balsamic glaze was the cherry on top of a delicious meal.
My guest, on the other hand, is a huge fan of anything and everything cheese, especially fetta, so when we saw the other scramble on the menu, it was a no-brainer.
* Yarra Valley scramble with Yarra Valley fetta, potato rosti, roasted Roma tomatoes and avocado on pumpkin sourdough.
The eggs were absolutely delicious! Mixed with the fetta, it was one of the creamiest and most decadent scrambles we’ve ever had. The potato rosti was thick, crispy and full of flavour, and each element on the plate combined to create a tantalising experience for the tastebuds.
Santucci’s is a gorgeous café which paints a picture of authenticity within the sometimes controversial Instagram world of food. Every part of our visit was an absolute pleasure. The service was wonderful- every worker we spoke to was friendly, welcoming and extremely professional. Madeline in particular was warm and bubbly and made our experience just that bit more special. The food was sensational. You could tell that care and love was put into every dish, and we enjoyed every mouthful of deliciousness!
We can’t wait to come back for more!
UPDATE 16/11/2017: Make no mistake. The current high average rating is due to the previous management. Such a shame to see a local favourite decline. I have been a customer for years and spent $thousands at the place. Naturally disappointed with yet another recent poor experience where, after waiting 40 min, I had to ask for the status of my order only to be advised that it was lost. The staff are so self absorbed in their private banter around the coffee machine that you get the impression that the customers are a mild irritation to them. Anyway, no meal for me as I had to go (across the road to the Noodle Box where you are always greeted with a smile and actually get what you ordered). OK, mistakes happen, but that's twice in a row (the last time they got the wrong order) but their proposed resolution really missed the mark: They offered to "only" charge me for the $7 juice but won’t charge for the $3.80 cappuccino. How honourable of them to not charge me for the cheaper drink even though both were meant to come with a meal. That’s not the right way to deal with any customer, let alone one as loyal as I. I paid for both anyway. I wouldn’t want to deprive them of $3.80 when clearly they need $ for training.
If the management care enough to respond to the issue of declining service quality then I'll return and give them another chance. Otherwise, Harvest Blend across the road or Dish & Spoon it is.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: Great coffee and food, with interesting weekly specials. A star lost from my previous review due to the decline in service. Please keep the customers served rather than chit chatting around the coffee machine.
Amazing service, even more amazing food! Sriracha and maple glazed bacon is actually heaven sent, and the atmosphere is quirky and fun. Favourite brunch place in the world.
Santucci’s cleverly creates the feel of both a cosy local cafe, and a buzzing foodie destination. With a medium sized indoor seating area as well as an outdoor undercover courtyard and walkway with seating, there are plenty of options depending on how you’re feeling. We chose the undercover courtyard which was decked out beautifully with hanging plants and I absolutely love the look of the exposed brick.
Food-wise, we were treated to an absolutely stunning brunch.
* We tried the Maple glazed bacon with sriracha, smashed avocado, coriander and lemon on sourdough. I’m not the biggest bacon lover in the world, but even I was converted by that deliciously sweet and smoky flavour. The smashed avo was a cleverly chosen partner to the bacon as it provided that fresh, smooth texture contrast. The sourdough was nicely toasted and I’m always happy when I see a lemon wedge on the plate when there’s avocado involved.
* The other dish that we chose was the brioche french toast with thick cream, seasonal fruits, hazelnut crumb, mascarpone and raspberry coulis. This was a pretty traditional take on the classic French toast dish (and in my opinion when it comes to French toast, traditional is best!) and boy was it the perfect sweet breakfast treat. Everything on the plate worked so well. The texture of the brioche was on point, fresh fruit were lovely and seasonal, hazelnut crumb added interesting texture and my favourite part was that sweet berry coulis.
Our coffees were also great and the staff are absolute superstars! Definitely put Santucci’s on your list of places to try if you haven’t been already, you won’t be disappointed! ✔️✔️✔️✔️
Groovy Smoothy
I don't normally go for sweet brunch's, but this time i was recommended by the waiter, who was really friendly btw, to get the French toast as it was one of there favourites. I wasn't disappointed!! The raspberry coulis i think it was that streaked down the side of the plate was top notch!! But not gonna lie i was salavating over my bfs meal!! He got the siracha bacon burger and it looked yummo as heck!! he kept on saying how good it was.
Was also impressed buy the hipster looking alleyway we sat, kinda felt like we were in the laneways of the CBD.
Been here a fair few times, coffee is always spot on. Food was pretty good to. I guess you can say it's fancy. Lovely owners and friendly staff
Pretty decent vintage place. Got to love and admire the maintenance and the beauty of this place. Worth the price and love the customer service here. The staff was quite friendly and love the way they showed us around the place for us to decide on the seating, as they are used to people entering the cafe to take photos of the place. Try the juices as they are quite different have different combinations.
Had the Lemon & Chilli Chicken sandwich for $12. It was pretty tasty. I'd give it 4/5. If it was a little cheaper, or ideally a little bigger, it could have snatched a 5/5.
Don't bother ! Pathetic customer service!!! Staff not attentive. Sitting there forever no one cares if you have ordered food or not! Walked pass few times with empty hands but keep using excuses like they were busy or two seconds etc. After few times service call, we gave up. Walked in Cafe across the road. Fantastic customer service and enjoyed nice meal!
Miserable and dark atmosphere, the seats were miniature and uncomfortable. Ordered an orange juice that was warm, not good. The menu was so limited that I didn't even bother ordering. Off to another local cafe to find somewhere they do simple things like French toast. Not recommended
Had the beef brisket benedict, could taste the 5 spice in there. Clever Asian fusion. Pet friendly staff, the backyard was nice. Coffee was average.
I havent came back for a long while, suprise the cafe still keep up a high standard. Coffee is good but i think they change their coffee bean. Food is amazing, new menu, quality and presentation are awesome ! I suspect they change the management, however i still wish they keep original santucci style going forward
Breakkie this morning at Santucci's. The service is excellent, friendly and prompt. There is an eighties / Italian theme running through the café. The latte was very good; they use Ethiopian beans, also available is cold drips with different sets of beans. Had their sriracha and maple glazed bacon... All I can say is.. yummmmy!
The coffee is really good at Santucci's but that's not why I'd be back here - I'm definitely going back for the best cafe breakfast I've ever had - The Sriracha & Maple Glazed Bacon with a poached egg.
It was the perfect breakfast, a little spicy and sweet with all the right amounts of avocado, lemon and coriander (all my faves) so it had really delicious conflicting flavours throughout the meal.
The decor is nice and service was friendly and prompt as well. I highly recommend going here.
This place is absolutely beautiful especially upstairs and it put a smile on my face. The space was beautiful. The food was impressive and you are definitely spoilt for choice. The pizza is so delicious. The staff are friendly and I like the busy atmosphere and the food comes out very quickly.
Cute cafe, tasty food, nice vibes.
The space out the back was great in summer and it's indoors are warm in winter.
Cakes are delicious! Coffee always seems a little burnt though :(
There's a reason why this place has a 4.0 rating. Outstanding breakfast menu with incredibly creative but delicious food! Had the 12 Hour Beef Brisket Benedict and it was fantastic. A creative spin on a classic that was well worth it. In the world of cafe's Santucci's is a real stand out.
Sylvia's POV
Lovely cafe with a very relaxed atmosphere, especially in the seating area at the back of the shop. Staff are very welcoming and cheerful.
Food is reasonably priced, presented beautifully and very filling!
Went here on a Friday afternoon, very good atmosphere and excellent service. We sat in the courtyard which felt private and relaxing. Food was absolutely amazing, I got the French toast with lychee, fruits, mascarpone and salted caramel while my friend got the Sriracha Glazed Bacon. Definitely recommend this cafe as an outstanding brunch place, will come back for more in the future.
love it, best coffee ever,friendly service~ Bring my parrents and they are enjoyed. Highly recommendation! And look forward for new season menu. And the French toast is not too sweet.
I'd read all about the siracha maple glazed eggs and they did not disappoint! The taste was absolutely delicious!! My sister ordered the Vietnamese chicken salad, which was a special, and that also had amazing flavour. We also admired the rustic nature of the place, with lots of different style frames on the walls and tables and cutlery.
Cute little cafe style restaurant. I ordered the chicken thigh schnitzel wrap and wasn't expecting it to be as tasty as it was. All the food here is exceptionally well presented and the Mexican salad was a hit amongst my friends. There isn't a massive variety on the menu but I'd come again to try something new.
Seems like this institution has changed hands and really isn't as good as it use to be. Disappointing. Waiting staff not attentive, food ok but portions smaller.
First off, amazingly delicious mochas here. I usually stick to one coffee at breakfast but t was so good I HAD to order.another.
For breakfast I ordered the Morning Tortilla and am still split on whether I liked it. the flavors were really great but hated that its a plate full of the mushrooms, peppers, cheese and etc and then a separate plate with a single tortilla folded up on the side looking like a napkin. If I'd known assembly was required i would have ordered something else. it just felt like they served it up that way because they couldnt figure out how to serve it all together and keep it pretty. everything tasted good in the tortilla but i wasn't able to fit everything in (and this was without adding poached eggs) and the rest didnt eat as well without another tortilla.
considering it was morning and i wasnt ready for a puzzle i had to put together I'll probably order something else next time. but i would definitely go back.
Nice coffee. Good atmosphere easy to take my kids to as well. New owners in now which is always hard to accept as a long term customer but no problems from me.
I recently had breakfast here and after a while since my last visit was a little disappointed to find that the business has been taken over by Chinese or similar owners. This Cafe used to be about simple, robust Italian/Australian food. It was very Western style cuisine. Imagine my shock to find Sriracha style bacon and other items with Asian influence on the menu.
I live in Box Hill just down the road which is drowning in Chinese restaurants, so finding one of my favourite Western style Cafe's with an Asian influence was disappointing to be honest. The menu had significantly changed and the image of the classic Italian Alfa Romeo on the menu with the new menu was very odd to me.
With all that said, the owners were extremely nice people, coffee was good and the food was of good quality. It's likely I won't be hurrying back anytime soon however. The vibe has changed and the menu is now far too mixed up. I think many of the old regulars might agree as there was only half as many people as compared to the old days at Santucci where it was standing room only and there were 5 or 6 wait staff, all dressed nicely and with big smiles on their face.
Santucci's sadly is just another Cafe now that could go by any name. Maybe it will attract a new following, but for me the Santucci's I used to know and love is dead.
If you love bacon.... the maple bacon was out of this world. And I don't usually eat bacon, I had a taste of my friend's. I had the corn cauliflower fritter, it was delicious. The meal is very filling and it was not a stack that I expected, it is one fritter but a big one. The coffee was great, it's buzzing inside, very busy on a Sunday morning as you can imagine. Staff are smiling, lovely place!
Cristian
Sriracha and maple glazed bacon!!!!
Couldn't get enough and was basically licking the plate.
Very cute little place and a lot of room out the back for extra patrons. Stumbled upon it after a business meeting but will definitely be back.
Checkout the menu there's plenty there to suit anyone's tastebuds ❤
I love the food and coffee - highly recommended. I ordered a lamb salad and coffee, the salad was a full size with different vegetables, such as sweet potato, chick peas, beetroots and baby spinaches. The lamb meats was tender and salad was fresh and the dressing was just perfect. I also love the coffee - one of the best coffee that i have ever had. I am sure I will come back again.
Had lunch at Santucci's today, we got a park right outside and were seated immediately. The place had lots of tables and I loved the decor, especially at the back area and bathroom.
Coffee here was quite rich and strong, but lacked the sweetness I personally prefer - 8/10. Coffee and food both came at a reasonably quick pace.
Food was nice, but nothing outstanding. I ordered the corn and cauliflower fritters with beetroot, avo, smoked salmon and poached eggs. The fritters themselves were really nice, but other than that all the other flavors didn't really go too well together. The poached eggs were a bit overcooked, none of the yolk ran into my fritters, it was more like a soft boiled egg. When I informed a staff member (I think the manager) he tried to convince me that's how poached eggs are always like. I told him no, this is a soft boiled egg, definitely not runny enough to be poached. He however did replace my eggs and apologized for it afterwards. My brother ordered the pork belly burger special. Chips and mayo were good, and so was the slice of pork belly inside the burger. However the whole burger itself was underwhelming, it was literally 2 buns, a piece of pork belly, lettuce, tomato, 5 pieces of jalepenos and a sauce I could barely taste. Burger was a bit dry and a bit flat, it really needed something else. Pork belly inside was beautiful and cooked to perfection with its crunchy skin and tender meat.
Staff were not very attentive some of the time, we had empty coffee cups and plates left on our table for a while, and we had to wave someone over a few times to order.
Overall we had a positive experience at Santucci's despite the hiccups, however they might need to step up their game a tad to compete with all the other cafes in the area!
Welcomed with a lovely smile, friendly demeanour, menus provided, order taken and food arrived without the wait. Great food, excellent service. Thank you for looking after us. Cafes shouldn't be just about the food/coffee - they should also be about the service. Perhaps Harvest Blend from across the road could learn a lesson or two from Santucci's!!
I was expecting a little more from this place due to such good ratings/reviews. However, I'm not too sure if my experience was a great one. Firstly, Santucci's a cute and busy cafe, filled with people during brunch hours. My partner and I were seated in the outside area which was nice, in between the two indoor sections next to the kitchen, beautiful but tables were a little too small that the plates barely fit on the table. Food had huge portions, you really get what you paid for, I enjoyed the Sriracha and maple bacon dish, different with a little kick after each bite. Service was okay, staff weren't as attentive and they forgot an order, we had to wait 25 minutes for my dish only to realise they didn't put my partner's rueben sandwich in, so we waited technically 45 mins for sandwich which was quite appalling, which they weren't really apologetic about. My latte however was great!
Lovely place for brunch. It may appear to be quite aged and has poor lighting from outside. It delightfully surprising once you enter to find its sunroom corridor with good natural lighting matched with its rustic decor.
Coffee is standard, not much surprise. Ordered Moroccan Beans and Japanese Grain Salad. The presentation is nice and well balance on flavour wise. Love the ginger, taste a bit different from other places. A nice place to spend the morning with lovely food.
We headed in at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and were immediately given a table. My dining partner said the flat white was acceptable while my Mork hot chocolate was nice and rich - more like a version made for an adult's palate. He had the fritters while I had the maple glazed bacon. My dish was delicious. The bacon was crispy with slight caramelisation of the maple syrup and the smashed avo on the side was a great complement. Will definitely be back as the menu had a few additional dishes I'd love to try.
Sriracha and maple bacon with smashed avocado, toast and a poached egg. Need I see more? How about 2 consistent and lovely soy lattes, and classic but groovy decor. Nice little place, I'd be keen to try it out again.
Selina
Cosy casual cafe. Great Corn & Cauliflower fritters for lunch - light and fresh! Service was quick as well. Coffee is good too! Must try dinner one day!
Take an hour, and forgot my order. Not good enough.
My local cafe - always great to pop in for a coffee in the morning and read the paper.
Cosy and comfortable.
All the food is great - would be great for a menu update though as it hasn't changed in a couple of years.
Definitely a great trusty local.
This place doesn't know the difference between a thick shake and a milk shake. Disappointing small serve of $7 warm sweetened milk. Slightly inattentive staff. Food was pretty good though.
Mellow, older kinda style cafe, but not their coffee .....
Looks like a very busy cafe from the outside .... this review is on their coffee alone.
Not prominently located, in the middle row, not much sunlight and looks dark.
Once inside, no loud music, older demographic customers and the dark theme continues, "vintage" set up; recycled Colonial and Art Deco furniture, Very clever "vintage" remake Colonial twist styling of the Espresso Coffee Bench & Cake display cabinet using Plywood.
Didn't get to try their food Menu nor sweet this afternoon, will make an effort to come back, however I did enjoyed their $4.20 Soy Latte.
No wonder it's busy, apart from the good set up, the cafe is operated well, well done guys.
What I love about this cafe is that it is on a not too busy suburban shopping strip. So easy to find parking and It is quiet and non-pretentious ✔️. There are no qeues or loud doof doof music✔️. The crowd is mostly families and older couples which is reflective of the suburb's demographic.
Yet Importantly the food and coffee are perfect and cool. The menu is very inspiring, proper filling man food! I didn't know which dish to order (as each dish sounded DELISH). Well presented, scrumptious generous dishes all at a reasonable price. And not a quinoa or kale in site!! ✔️✔️
I was expecting goods things from this coffee shop. We came on a weekend and sat in the back area. The coffee was pretty average but the big disappointment was the food. We had breakfast. I had scrambled eggs and it was tasteless so were the other meals on our table. The only good thing on the table was the bacon. Bit sad!!! Service was nothing to write home about. Very true about no smiles from staff.
Kate
Edit: It appears this place has gone downhill in the 2 years since I wrote this review. Sigh. Oh well.
28/8/2016
LOVE ❤️ LOVE ❤️ LOVE! I come here every weekend. The coffee and food is consistently fantastic, I have never been less than fully satisfied after a trip to Santucci's. Don't change a thing.
The Whippeteers
Santucci's, or as we call it - "The No Smile Cafe." Not a smile from the Wait Staff, the Barista, NO SMILE - FOR YOU?!!?
Do The Whippeteers care? NOT AT ALL. It was early. Busy. Too nice and sometimes this Whippeteer gets uncomfortable. So all good.
But...how was the Coffee? VERY GOOD. Strong.
Ps The Cafe is SO NICE, it has a CALMING EFFECT. All the wood, probably. They have a lovely back area to take a DOG etc. Also, lots of people with dogs on Toorak Rd was fun for Wasabi 'the super pup.'
Darrell Yap
This is a great place to visit because of its seasonal menu and bustling atmosphere. Decorated with warm wood furniture, the space feels warm and inviting. The staff are attentive without being intrusive. The Winter Salad with lamb is ace, as is the Corn and Cauliflower fritters - try it before the menu changes!
My dear friend took me here for my birthday last year and I really fell in-love with this hidden gem.
I have always been a sucker for a cute, vintage styled cafe with a uniqueness about them and this place exceeded my expectations of a great cafe design. We sat in the courtyard and something about it provoked a stereotypical paris cafe vibe.
We ordered a coffee alongside their hand-cut chips and a sandwich. Their coffee was sensational - one of the best coffee's I've had and the food was fresh, crisp and incredibly tasty!
Definitely recommend this gem for a quiet, low-key one-on-one catch up!
Although small in size, it's heart is very big. Friendly service and prompt. At least we didn't have to wait long for our coffee to arrive which was exceptional. This place is innovative in their food and the communication about their coffee flavours out of sight. Will be having our weekly office meetings here from now on. Thanks to the place HB, across the road for not looking after us we found somewhere better to spend our money..
Yum!!! So delicious. Have been here for lunch twice. Had the special burger on both occasions and it was very tasty. Then there's the shakes - wow!!! Needed a long walk afterwards, but worth it!
Went here spontaneously with mum the other day. Was very pleasantly surprised. Nice range on the menu without being too extensive. I got the potato Rosti with all the good stuff (scrambled eggs, avo, roast tomatoes, goats cheese and I added mushrooms). Eggs were lovely and fluffy, everything was cooked beautifully and seasoned very nicely. Was great because there wasn't any bread and it was super filling without being too heavy. And loaded with veggies, always a plus. Service was friendly and relatively quick. Mum had a veggie burger with polenta chips. Was creative and she really enjoyed it.
One of the best breakfast meals I've ever had. Their Sriracha and Maple glazed bacon with smashed avocado and poached eggs is a great twist on a classic breakfast dish. Highly recommended!
Love this place! I just read a review below which suggested changing up the menu. I beg you, please don't! There are three items which i struggle to chose between each time i go and if one disappeared i would be genuinely devastated. Maple & Sriracha bacon, Pea & Zucchini Fritters with Smoked Salmon, and the Chicken Thigh with eggplant sandwich never fail. Coffee is good and i've never had bad service there. I wish more people new how good it was, but i'm happy we can always get a table!
Elima Pozenel
Coffee is good but doesn't make up for the fact we were sitting outside and had to put up with a swarm of wasps because there was food left on all the other outside tables attracting them. They also have a $15 minimum for using eftpos so if you want to pay by card and just get drinks for two you're going to have to pay a surcharge for the privilege. When I told the girl at the counter about the wasp problem she was fully aware and didn't seem to care - maybe when someone gets stung repeatedly they might start deciding to clean the tables?!
Dkaylah
Came here for breakfast took a long time to get any type of service. Ordered a hot chocolate which tasted foul because it was extremely strong couldn't drink it. Then ordered poached eggs on multigrain bread with avo, spinach & mushrooms. Everyone has there own preferences but I prefer my meal to come out stacked already so avo spread then spinach, mushrooms & eggs etc or in wotever order on top not all put to the side, this is a big hate of mine at cafe's but I don't come across it too much thank goodness. Food tasted terrible only luke warm won't be returning here.
