Awesome dinner with amazing service by our waitress Shannon and staff. Shannon was so professional and listened and assisted when we placed our orders. All the food came to us at the same time. Allergies like mine ( no garlic, no onions no mushrooms) were all catered for without any issue and our table was only cleared after I finished my dinner and my plate was empty. I hate having plates taken away when still eating... so I am super impressed.
Awesome veal Parma, my friend had a shnitzel burger and the ladies had pastas ... all were very nice including the 3 dips we had as a starter with flat bread.

George’s has been a staple in Camberwells eating lifestyle, I can’t remember a Camberwell without it! From going after school or after uni for a coffee or a late night dessert with friends. George is one of Camberwells longest running restaurants and cafes and you’re always in for a decent breaky, lunch or dinner!

Georges has been around for seemingly a very, very long time and I'd never been before up until two weeks ago. Now I've been twice within two weeks and both times were a big hit for me. It's massive inside, yet though there's plenty of space, if you have your heart set on dining here, it might be best to book as they're always busy and it would help avoid disappointment. It's loud, but to the point where you can still hear yourself think and still have a good conversation with people.
Service is good. They show you to your table promptly and hand over the extensive menu. There's a lot to choose from, so if you're wanting pasta or fish or a burger, or a late breakfast, you're bound to find something you're in the mood for.
The first time, I had the chicken and mushroom pasta, but I switched it to gnocchi. They were accomodating with the switch and it came out perfectly. The gnocchi was so soft and fresh and the sauce so cheesy and comforting. When I went the following week, I got the chicken burger and it was equally delicious. The crumbed chicken was tasty (with a hint of a curry to it) and the bun so good and the chips perfect. Everyone I dined with loved their meals too.
Parking may seem tricky because it's in the middle of the Camberwell shopping precinct, but you can either find a space outside (with a ticket) or out the back there's a good parking lot. It's busy there, so there's always someone coming or going. I find the prices on the menu great for what you get and the meals are a good size. The only possible fault I'd have with them is they do have some items around the bar to eat like muffins and other sweets, but the scones are left out in the open and subject to drying out or having a fly on them potentially. This just doesn't look good as you're up there paying for your meal. But otherwise, this is a new favourite of mine and I want to come back for a breakfast one day or a dinner. Even as I write this, I'm salivating at the thought of my burger and can't wait to come back. I highly recommend.
Georges seem to be our main eating joint. They never seem to disappoint and are happy to accommodate dietary requirements when possible.
It reminds me of pub style food but without being in the pub and better quality food.
My brother and I always love going as its always clean and spacious. They are always really friendly and helpful.

Big menu with lots to choose from. I got the salmon and avocado salsa toast and added poached eggs. The portion sizes were generous, the eggs poached nicely. The restaurant is large and spacious but not loud. Friendly staff. Definitely need to come back and try the rest of the menu.
Georges is one of the few places open late on Burke Road and serve up some incredible dishes. If there is one thing I keep coming back for though, it’s their sticky date pudding 🌟
Such a lovely space with food and service to match. This is fancy enough to cater for difficult tastes, but accessible and affordable for all.
The modern Australian cuisine is suitably tasteful without being pretentious.
Whether is be for lunch or for dinner, an easy choice.

Prompt Serivce . Well presented and professional. Ordered the signature beef burger and southern friend Chicken burger .
Good serve of salad came with beef burger which was above average and full with all you want. The patty was not as juicy but still quite good.
Chicken burger is crunchy and good just need to be slightly more tender and marinate longer .
This place has been here for ages in the Centre of Camberwell shopping area. Lots of seats and space inside perfect for small or big gatherings.
Mushroom and cheese toasties are perfect for either a decent snack or light lunch.
Pumpkin and spinach risotto is a big mean meal, very filling.
Zucchini with holoumi fritters, avo and salad is also another great vego choice.
Soy chai latte and hot choc are delicious.
Service can be quite slow during meal times.
Waiting staff aren't as friendly and inviting as other cafes in the area.
We had their mushroom soup and pollo bianco pasta and they were absolutely tasty! Another casual family atmosphere restaurant with good service around camberwell, dont try their coffee though
The food here is lovely! came here with my mum and ordered the seafood risotto and a seafood salad and it was perfect. My risotto was cooked perfectly and the scallops, prawns and calamari was tender and fresh. The wait staff are also very proficient and friendly.
The food is over priced for the size of the portions and quality. The venue is large and spacious with staff being reasonably attentive. It was a relatively ordinary experience and I doubt I would go back for seconds..
We went today out for Christmas shopping bought a new tree etc. after that we decide to go too Georges. For me was it the first, my partner had functions before there. We had some chips and drinks. Lovely and fast staff.
Iconic restaurant that has been there for many years!
Staff are very attentive and are always willing to accommodate where necessary.
Food is also a big plus, my friends and I have tried many dishes, from steak to salads to french toasts and big breakfast and we highly recommend them. Nothing too oily or too sweet.
Coffee is also always perfectly made :)
Good food, good service, good drinks, nice atmosphere, good lighting, good value, relatively quiet. Would definitely return and recommend.
There are some restaurants that look the business and some that are. Georges falls into the latter category.
Great service, just had coffee today but the staff was very attentive. Would come again if looking for a place to have coffee at 6pm. The venue aims to be very classy so would be interesting to see if the food lives up to the ambience and deco of the place.
I'm surprised at the rating of this place, I came here for lunch around 1.30pm and had a great dining experience. I ordered the smoked salmon, whipped ricotta and avocado salsa on toast whilst my friend ordered the chicken risotto. Both meals tasted great and for $16.50 I found my salmon toast quite worth it. When we went to pay up we were totally immature fighting over which card to use but the register attendant was so lovely he didn't mind our antics and gave us two cookies! Awesome place :)
There aren’t any large signage outside the restaurant to tell you that you’ve reached the right place. It is only when you are about to enter that you see the lone small ‘Georges’ decal on the door. The restaurant has a very open seating plan with a private upstairs dining section available for bookings.
A busy, bustling casual restaurant offering OK Italian/Modern Australian food. Service is spotty and the meals are perhaps a bit overpriced considering the quality. An OK choice for quick meal in Camberwell, but certainly nothing to write home about.
Georges No 1. Had a lovely Easter Sunday dinner there last night.My partner thought the steak was amazing.I had the chicken parmigiana and it was the best parma I've had in a restaurant.Will definetly go back.
I used to live around the area, and loved their kids menus, but I hadn't been back in a while. I was glad to see that they still had excellent service and lovely presentation.

Great function, good food and delightful staff. I attended a large function upstairs at Georges yesterday, with a rowdy crowd that moved seats a lot, but not an especially demanding group, that still could have challenged a lot of restaurant staff. Georges waiting staff did a terrific job, remained pleasant, attentive and efficient throughout a very long event - very impressive! The food was lovely, nicely presented, timely service despite a crowd: shared entree plates worked very well, and the main meals (salmon or chicken dishes) were tasty, with salad and chips provided to share. Generous portions of mini cakes for desserts were delicious and coffee also good.
Thank you, Georges, for a lovely day, nice meal and gracious service. Recommended, especially for a group booking as it isn't easy to find a decent restaurant that will cope well with around 70-100 guests!

Finest food and great service - perfect venue!. Sunday evening (30 March 2014) we celebrated my grandmother's 80th birthday at Georges Restaurant, upstairs in the private function room. While we have dined at Georges many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and always enjoyed the food and thought the service was great, all our expectations were exceeded last night. Our 45 guests were not just suitably impressed by the presentation of the table and elegant room décor, but no one could stop talking about the quality, presentation and of course, the taste, of the food. The abundance of courses was incredible value for money particularly given the quality, and the delicious flavours left us wanting more (best tiramisu in Melbourne!)! Combined with the friendly and attentive staff managing the evening, it was a night we will all remember for years to come. Thank you to all the Georges staff and management for making our grandmothers birthday unforgettable!
Just moved into the camberwell area and thought we would try George's for some lunch, we weren't really expecting much considering the current reviews but woah, George's is AMA zing! We were greeted by a lovely waitress who escorted us to our table, and even though it was busy our drinks came out quickly and the waitress even poured them! We both had the wagyu burger and it was delicious. Service was excellent despite it being quite busy, we'll definitely be back
It was our second choice after walking out of another place. Great service, lovely brunch and very clean. Would definitely return.

Surprisingly good experience. My first impression of George's was that it is a huge generic and bland looking restaurant with an overpriced, bland menu to match. Since my first forgettable visit I have walked past so many times vowing never to return. I decided to try it again simply because there is nowhere mid price range on the high street in Camberwell that has an extensive menu as well as being kid friendly. I feel like I should mention that the food whilst still being a bit over priced was actually really good. We ordered the bruschetta for starters which has got to be the tastiest I have ever had. My husband had the steak which he says was on a par with the Meat and Wine Co which is hard to beat. I had the calamari which was tasty and not too greasy. My son had the chicken strips and chips which were not over salted. The food came out at a reasonable time, too and the service was good. True our water was not topped up but I am sure if I had asked the staff would have obliged. For us, all though it does lack atmosphere it has booth seats which are perfect for kids. Also in that large groups of parties seem to favour this place, it works for us when our son decides to throw a tantrum as it's so loud already no one bats an eyelid. I would definitely go back but perhaps not for a romantic date.
