Review Prospect Espresso - Camberwell

S Williams
One of my favourite cafes in Melbourne, coffee here is exceptional. It's a cozy place, floor staff are always friendly, they remember your coffee order the second time you visit! The food is great too, I've had magic mushrooms twice and corn fritter once and they have been consistently great. Highly recommended.

cute little spot off the main busy road dishing out specialty coffee and luscious dishes for all your brunching needs! they have gorgeous sweet brunch items on their menu too! perfect spot for catch up with friends with plenty of parking around the corner!

This has become my local coffee haunt in recent weeks. It's a great little place.....good coffee and great snacks. The coffee art is about the best I've seen....not your usual leaf or something. The designs are often too good to destroy by drinking the latte!

The staff are really friendly and will always find a way to engage in genuine conversations with you. I would definitely recommend trying their smoothies or their Mork Chocolate (iced or hot), they’re my personal favourite drinks to have when I go there. You can tell that the chef is also very creative and dishes look absolutely stunning when they are presented to you.

Have had several great coffees and meals here. Staff are always really friendly and I'm a big fan of their beef brisket burger.

Comfortable environment, rich dishes, delicious and really enjoyable.

What an amazing place for brunch. Friendly service great coffees and food. I loved the zucchini and corn fritters which were lightly fried but still had a nice crispy to it. The capsicum delish paired so well with the fritters and the avo was so fresh. As a fan of potatoes, I ordered a side of potato hash which was well made and delicious. Coffees were great and the houjicha latte was so smoothe and aromatic.

Cool little cafe that provides dine in and take away in Camberwell. Friendly staff and was promptly greeted with smiles upon entering. They also adhered to social distancing with the seat plan. Lovely options for breakfast and lunch.

My friend and I got to try their corn and zucchini fritters plus mushroom toastie. The fritters were delicious but they forgot my bacon on the side. It’s still good though. And the mushroom toastie was delish according to my friend.

Lovely little cafe. Wouldn’t mind coming again.

The service was great, the staff was friendly. Food was tasty. I highly recommend the chilli prawn omelette for those craving an asian taste. Sweetness of French toast was just right. Fresh avo smash. Great value and pleasant experience. Enjoyed the coffee, was definitely done right!

Came here over the weekend and it was a delight. Staff were friendly and food was yummy! Everything we ordered was delicious, the corn fritters had the best salsa on the side, the sticky date pudding was truly decadent, the fluffiest cake with the best butterscotch sauce I've ever had!

Decided to have my first brunch out after the lockdown at Prospect, I’m so happy that I’ve made the right choice! I’ve read a lot of positive reviews, and got so excited that Prospect has re-opened its door for dine-in! (while takeaway and delivery via ubereats are also available)

We’re lucky to get a table on a busy Sunday morning. Prospect serves absolute great coffee, and rich, hot mork chocolate (with yummy complimentary marshmallow!). Love the way we were greeted by very friendly and attentive staffs here.

OMG their Hash Stack is a BOMB!!😍 House made potato hash with crispy bacon, grilled halloumi, sourdough and fried egg (requested to change to my fave poached egg🙏🏻). One of the best we’ve had - So crispy on the outside, creamy and smooth on the inside. What a perfect dish!

We also love their new Winter item - Steak Sandwich. Juicy and tender Steak with caramelised onions, spinach, tomato, cheese and fried egg. Be ready to devour this scrumptious sanga and the generous portion of hot chips when they’re still hot!

Last but not the least, If you have a sweet tooth, the French Toast is the one to die for! Perfect balance of sweetness from the bread, vanilla ice cream and maple syrup and a bit of refreshing sourness from the raspberry coulis. Light and soft, not greasy at all. So delicious!

I will definitely be back for more!

Just had the pleasure of dining at Prospect Espresso this morning, their food and coffee was delicious and the staff were attentive and helpful! Highly recommend!

Prospect Espresso boasts a wonderfully casual interior, perfect for lazing away the weekend afternoon and enjoying the simple things in life. We loved the dish corn and zucchini fritters. Think crispy fritters that are fluffy on the inside served with poached egg encasing dripping yolk, smashed avocado, homemade salsa and capsicum puree. For something hearty that is perfect for winter, we recommend the spaghetti bolognese. The sauce is incredibly rich and bursting with flavour.

Monday Labour Day holiday was a beautiful sunny day and enjoyed my breakfast at Prospect Espresso.
This cafe has been around for nearly 7 years and often or not there's always customers queuing in the morning for take-away coffee.

🔆LOCATION🔆

Prospect Espresso Cafe is situated on Prospect Hill Road, near the corner of Burke Road in the Camberwell shopping precinct.

From the exterior it doesnt look like much, but as you walk inside, there is a really nice relaxed atmosphere. The cafe is of a decent size and can seat up to max 30 customers.

🔆SERVICE🔆
Very friendly customer service. It was a busy morning yet staff still maintained smile and good service all round.

🔆MENU/PRICE🔆

Beetroot Latte $5.00
Prospect Hash Stack, $21.00
(potato hash brown with crispy bacon, haloumi, red peppers, fried egg on sourdough)

Note: there is a public holiday surcharge of 10% which was not indicated anywhere on the menu. I shouldn't be surprised as most eateries do have this charge, but it would have been nice to actually have it written somewhere so its not a hidden charge.

🔆VERDICT🔆

The Prospect Hash Stack is one of their signature item on their menu. It's nothing fancy on the plate, presentation is still nice. Once you start unstacking the layers from the fried egg, haloumi cheese, red capsicum, bacon, down to the last hidden item the potato hash brown. It's such a generous size has and deliciously made, very soft and tasty on the inside and light crunch on the outside. All the elements combined with the sourdough was yum! The beetroot latte was light yet flavourful. Had an enjoyable breakfast at Prospect Espresso.

Amazing little cafe! Delicious coffee and food and very friendly staff! I’ll be back! Thank you :)

Small cafe, good location. We planned to go to Legacy but it was packed so this was our second option. The Hash stack was excellent but Red Velvet Hotcake was a bit disappointing. Many reviewers got this dish but I personally didn't like it because it was a bit too dry on the inside. I'm not usually critical on desert items but this one is a bit of a deal breaker despite how nice it looks. Might come back to try toasties and other items when I'm in the area.

We had only been to Prospect Espresso a few times for takeaway coffees so we were both looking forward to trying some of their brunch menu.

Started with coffees followed by two dishes from their brunch menu.

Our caffeine hit was served from a lactose free cappuccino and a latte. Both coffees were smooth, silky and not too hot - the kind of coffees that should be held with two hands while enjoying a novel.

Halfway through our coffees, our brunch was served; the French Toast and the Red Velvet Hotcake.

Baked in a juicy sauce, the warm French Toast was a perfect partner for a coffee on a cold winter day. The Toast was topped with plum salt cream, lemon curd, seasonal fruit, honey crumble and a healthy dollop of vanilla ice cream.

The champion of the brunch was easily the Red Velvet Hotcake. A healthy sized hotcake topped with chocolate mousse, fresh berries, dark chocolate sauce, raspberry ice cream and the amazingly sweet pink fairy floss. (A must try if in the mood for something a little naughty and sweet).

Prospect Espresso is a terrific cafe situated in the heart of Camberwell that is ideal for a catch up with friends or a spot for a productive morning/afternoon on your laptop.

Will be back very soon.

Sunday treat done well by Prospect Espresso. The Benedict was spot on even without the hollandaise👌🏽The Big Breakfast was beyond delicious and the Red Velvet Hotcake ... well I think the picture speaks for itself :D it was just as good as it looks!!

What a beautiful way to spend a sunny Sunday
Melbourne morning sitting in @prospectespresso with the sun shining through the window onto my back.

I had the Big Breakfast and shared the Red Velvet Hotcake with @vargabarbie. Highly recommend both!

Friendliest and hardest working barista i’ve ever seen. Thank you Oka!!! Your coffee is the best. It always makes my day when I get the first coffee with a smile :)

I came to Prospect Espresso with a lovely friend of mine to try the brunch menu. I had heard so many lovely things about this famous Cafe in Camberwell and I must say in that it definitely lived up to its name!

Interior: I love that plants are fully featured in this cosy space with exposed brick interiors and snug seating, and that just adds to the charm of the space.

Food: we ordered the prospect hash stack, the red velvet pancakes and the chilli prawns scramble along with some lovely lattes.

The prospect hash was absolutely delicious especially the potato fritters which were very thick and scrumptious and we're big enough to be mistaken for a burger! It came topped off with a fried egg and plenty of aioli which added to the creaminess of the dish.

Complimenting the hash stack was the chilli prawn scrambled eggs which were done just right and were soft and fluffy with an ample amount of prawns in the dish.

The prettiest dish of the bunch was definitely the red velvet pancakes which came topped off with creamy ice cream, chocolate sauce, fairy floss which was Pink and plenty of fresh berries. My friend and I split it and we still couldn't finish it because the portion was generous.

Are coffee paired extremely well with the above food, it was smooth and silky with a robust flavour.

Service: we came in at a time when it was not too busy and the service was friendly and very quick. Thank you for the smiles!🥰

I would definitely come back here again especially since it is so close to the CBD!

Prospect Espresso is located on Prospect Hill Road in Camberwell. It’s a small cafe with a cosy interior with exposed brick & feature tiles around the counter.

We were invited to try the menu & after a very long day we were keen for coffee which was delicious. Aside from the normal brunch dishes they have a killer selection of toasties including some good vegetarian options & we opted for the Guacamole Grilled Cheese. It was an impressive toastie, packed with tasty & cheddar cheese, guacamole & tomato salsa. I’m a big fan of a toastie & this one definitely hit the spot.

We finished with a couple of treats from the cabinet, carrot cake & caramel slice which gave us the much needed sugar hit.

Some interesting dishes on the menu & I’d love to go back to try some of the other dishes. A popular spot with the locals especially take away coffees, thanks so much for having us.
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited back to PE for more deliciousness. I made my own simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, smashed avocado and baked beans. Whilst it was simple flavour wise it was anything but-all the classics done to perfection. Hubs got the prawn chilli omelette which he loved. We are overall just so thoroughly impressed with this place everything we’ve ever tried has been simply flawless

Original review
I was invited to Prospect Espresso today and was unbelievably impressed. All dishes we ordered were stunningly presented and utterly yummy. I’d be very hard pressed to pick a favourite and thoroughly recommend them all.

The red velvet hotcake is their signature and I can certainly see why. It’s just the perfect texture and despite lending itself to sweetness I found it very well balanced for a dessert breakfast. I adored the chocolate mousse and raspberry ice cream that accompanied it. A faultless dish for me

We switched into savoury next with the stellar chicken burger. This was deliciously moist and I personally love the combination of pineapple and chicken. The bun and the chips that went with it were also exceptionally tasty.

Our final dish was on the specials menu but it’s well worth elevation to permanent listing. The French toast was simply heavenly. The pairing of seasonal fruit, lemon curd and plum cream was worked together flawlessly. One of the best I’ve tried and easily the best in the area. My new favourite spot in Camberwell!

This little cozy gem in Camberwell is one of those easy to miss places but also one you wouldn't want to miss out on.

My partner and I first ordered coffees and were very pleasantly surprised with how they turned out, whoever was making them and whichever coffee beans they used, they got it all right.

We then proceeded to order; Potato Hash Stack it was for him, Big Breakkie for me and a Grain Garden Salad for us to share to help kill the lack of veggie guilt.

I loved the toast style Big Breakkie, I personally thought it was better than having everything laid on a plate and the portion was perfect for me (might be a bit small for the big blokes out there), the chorizo however could be approved.

The Prospect Hash Stack surprisingly combined more than three of my partner's favorite things to eat; saganaki, hash brown, crispy bacon and roasted cauliflower, which perfectly balanced the rest of the ingredients.

The queen for me was the Grain Garden salad, apart from the gorgeous plating and cruelty-free factors, the flavors and ingredients had lots of character and were perfectly balanced. Texture wise, the delicious beetroot hummus, quinoa, veggies were simply a symphony in my mouth, make sure you get all of them in every bite.

Would definitely be back for more!
Tinmans Treats
I came here with a friend at the end of a very long road trip. Off Burke Road, the cosy interior is unnoticed with how light filled the cafe is. The exposed brick gives this place a nice homely feel.

We were invited to try their menu. Their toastie game is remarkably strong. I went with their vegetarian option which had guacamole, tomato, cheese and corriander. It was very tasty and I'd be curious with their other options which included mushroom, and the reuben. A nice selection of cakes, pastries and sandwiches to eat in or take away. Coffee was decent.

Great for the locals, or a nice stop off after doing the Camberwell Markets.

Camberwell has many cafes to visit and this is definitely a must! The food is absolutely delicious and highly recommend the prawn chilli scrambled eggs for those who love the seafood twist to their breakfast. French toast is delicious for those who are after something sweet!!

There are many must-visit spots in Camberwell, it could be easy to miss this little hide-away on Prospect Hill Rd. With that said, I'm glad I found it! Prospect has such an ambient, welcoming vibe; the staff are lovely and definitely care great deals about their service. Being that it is a reasonably small venue, you feel really well looked after here.

I'm vegan so I opted for a mix of sides (avo, beans, spinach). I had originally added some mushrooms and hash brown, and was really impressed by the fact the waitress came to double check whether I followed a vegan diet (I hadn't necessarily specified this). She told me the mushrooms and hash brown were cooked in butter. A lot of places might have overlooked that, so I really appreciated her double checking.

The fries here were amazing, as was my miscellaneous dish and my partner really loved the Hash Stack too! Overall, we had such a lovely and pleasant experience. My only concern would be the lack of already-made vegan options on the menu. Other than that, definitely worth a visit here!
Dine And Dash
Prospect Espresso is a small, yet delightful café located in the heart of Camberwell. We were invited here today to sample some of their dishes. Walking in, we were greeting by some very friendly staff who showed us to our table near the window. It was relatively late in the day and so it wasn’t very busy. We ordered the Red Velvet Hotcake, the Wild Mushrooms and the Super Veggie Bowl. For drinks we ordered coffee.

The Wild Mushrooms dish was superb. The dish came with mixed mushrooms, kale, wilted greens, hummus and poached eggs. It was a great meal for a late lunch and it really hit the spot! Simple ingredients but incredible flavours. The Super Veggie Bowl was an awesome dish. The poached egg was cooked well and the avocado was perfectly ripe. The mint yoghurt definitely gave the dish that extra kick. Yummy!

Our favourite dish of the day was definitely the Red Velvet Hotcake! It was such an aesthetically pleasing looking dish (see photo)! Accompanied the hotcakes was chocolate mousse which was nice and creamy, the dark chocolate sauce which was absolutely delectable, and the raspberry ice cream which was tasty and sweet. Overall, the dish was an amazing way to end our lunch. Both coffees were great! Nothing to complain about.

We were very pleased with our dining experience today and cannot thank Prospect Espresso enough for having us! We look forward to returning soon!

Great cafe in a great location! Service is amazing - staff are very attentive and friendly.

Coffee was made really well - and such cute coffee art!

Red Velvet Hotcake was super tasty and we'll presented. Also had the Wild Mushroom with added Chashu Pork Belly. This dish was packed with mushrooms and it went really well with the beetroot hummus.

This cafe is a must visit!will definitely come back for the rest of the menu!

Prospect Espresso is a little gem in the heart of Camberwell. The cafe is small and cosy, yet always bustling with customers. We were so lucky to be invited to try their food, and it definitely exceeded our expectations!

The menu isn’t huge but there’s something for everyone. We had the Bircher Muesli, the Prospect Hash Stack, the Grain Salad, and the Red Velvet Hotcake.

The Bircher Muesli (vegan) was very unique. The combination of oats and sago, soaked in soy milk & coconut milk was a delightful surprise. The fruits and berries added a nice freshness to the overall dish.

The Hash Stack was amazing. The potato hash brown was thick, fluffy, and crispy. The pairing of bacon, saganaki, and roasted cauliflower made it a very hearty, fulfilling dish.

The Grain Salad was healthy and delicious! There was plenty of variety - from mixed grains to nuts to veggies and leaves. The miso dressing was sensational along with the hummus, which binded the salad together.

Lastly, the Red Velvet Hotcakes were a sensational end to our meal, and tasted just as good as it looked! The hotcakes were thick and fluffy, and the colour of them was so vibrant and pretty. It was topped with chocolate mousse, fairy floss and dark chocolate sauce which made it very decadent, as well as fresh berries and raspberry ice cream to cut through the sweetness. It’s definitely a dessert-lover’s dream!

Service was fantastic and all the staff were super sweet and accommodating! I can not recommend this place enough!

Came here for brunch on a lovely Sunday morning. The cafe is quite small and the interior does look a bit run down. However, the staff were incredibly friendly and the menu here has quite a variety!

I got the toasted ham/cheese croissant and a berry panna cotta. Croissant was delicious! Flakey and was toasted well. My berry panna cotta was absolutely to die for! So so yummy!

Great little cafe overall. 😊

Real rating 4.25 ⭐️

We had heard many good reviews on Prospect Espresso and decided to try it out!

French toast - served with seasonal fruits and ice cream (as can be seen from the picture) this was a lovely meal to have! The balance of sweetness from the French toast and the seasonal fruits were done well!

Prospect hash stack - as the name suggests, this was a monster stack served with potato hash brown, crispy bacon, saganaki, roasted cauliflower, red peppers and sriracha mayo! Be warn this is for those who are extremely hungry! I enjoyed this with all the different elements on the plate though I struggled towards the end!

Red velvet hotcake - served with chocolate mousse, fairy floss, fresh berries, dark chocolate sauce and raspberry ice cream! Not only was this a pretty artwork but the taste was just sensational! The fluffiness of the hotcake, the sweetness of the chocolate sauces and sourness of raspberry ice cream made this into an epic treat! Everything just melted in my mouth and it was heaven! This is why it was my fave of the day!

Prospect has a lot to offer and we would love to visit to try the rest of their menu! 😘

sunday well spent at prospect espresso! my cousin ordered the hash stack which was a m a z i n g. i personally like it when my bacon isn’t cooked too crispy, which was exactly how it had been served. i opted for a veggie bowl with an extra poached egg and saganaki to fuel my love for salads! and of course, we got the french toast to share. we couldn’t leave without ordering some takeaway coffees for ourselves - iced chai was 👌🏻

With so many great cafe options in Camberwell, I'm making it my business to get around to all of them. Just off the busy main road, Prospect Espresso is an unassuming little cafe with a lot of heart. With a rustic decor, exposed brick and a great communal area, we instantly felt at ease here.

After ordering the hash stack and red velvet pancake, we almost wanted to move in. The hash stack was abundant with a delicious homemade vegetable rosti on top of toast, with bacon, roasted capsicum, haloumi and a fried egg... this dis was amazingly tasty.

Finishing off with the pancake was an exercise in itself. This thing was huge... delicious and huge. With a cake like consistency, the pancake was accompanied with strawberry icecream, chocolate mousse, fresh berries, chocolate and Persian fairy floss. Surpringly it was less sweet than we expected, which was great, as that much sweet would have been overkill. Pretty in pink, this was a delicious spin on the classic pancake stack.

Overall, with friendly, attentive service and a varied and tasty menu, Prospect Expresso has earned it's place in the busy Camberwell cafe scene.

This place was absolutely amazing! I went here a few weeks ago, but I recall that the staff was nice, and the food was really good :)- I came a bit late, but that wasn’t anything to worry about.

The one thing I felt awkward about was that everyone was seated so closely together even though there were six customers (inc.me) and we were seated right next to eachother- I’d prefer that we were seated a table apart.

However, the cafe was extremely cute and I ordered the red velvet hotcake, which was both aesthetically pleasing and tasty- as a student on a budget, it was a bit over my budget but I’d definitely say it was worth it (just had to cut back on a few stationary supplies!!)

My friend ordered the chilli prawn scrambled eggs, which smelled so amazing, and her review was along the lines of a great, really filling meal, but would recommend something else instead.

Misssteph_eatdrinkplay

Such a cosy cafe with a lovely environment.
We ordered the scrambled eggs with prawn + potato hash stack.

I haven't ordered scrambled eggs from a cafe in ages but I'm glad I ordered this one because it was mouthwateringly good. Paired with the avo and sourdough toast made it the perfect brekky !- Would defs recommend this dish :)

Yum! I tried the BIRCHER MUESLI!! I love a good Bircher muesli and this one was pretty cool! With soaked oats AND sago, along with crumble and elderflower and wine soaked pear, the flavours and textures were delightful 😝 Love the decor and feel at prospect espresso, and Georgie and the team were so lovely 💖 Thanks for having us!! 🍓

Prospect espresso is a very popular cosy cafe in Camberwell. The coffee here is amazing and service was impeccable. I had the “Hash stack” with added avocado and the “Red Velvet pancakes” which are now added to my favourite list. Price is decent and the staff were so lovely. Would highly recommend coming here trying these two dishes! Thanks for an awesome meal x

Thank you so much for the invite to try out your lovely menu💓The red velvet pancakes was a chocolate fiesta with chocolate mousse, fairy floss, fresh berries and ice cream! If you have a sweet tooth definitely try it out! The French toast was definitely my favourite dish with a hidden custard layer inside the brioche and fresh berries and nuts scattered around it!

Prospect espresso in Camberwell. I had the lunch in the afternoon when it was not that busy. Food was average and coffee was tasty. It was a nice place to dine with friends

Visited with Eat_today_diet_tomorrow for brunch. The place was cute and cosy located in the heart of camber wells brunch scene. We had the French toast which was tasty and had great condiments to complement the toast. The burger with a twist of Korean, having kimchi. And the chilli scramble which had prawns!

Both of us had the Chai iced latte because it sounded too good!

I went Prospecting for gold, but instead discovered another treasure. Red Velvet Hotcakes, with chocolate mousse, fairy floss, and berries!

I did find gold in my coffee though, care of #au79coffee. Their Midas Blend worked a treat as a flat white.

Loved by #tesspresso.

Me and One.hungry.girl10 came here for brunch on Sunday. This little cafe is very cozy and have a relaxing vibe as they have many small plants decorated inside.

We started off with iced chai with almond milk. It came with vanilla ice cream it was really good not too sweet.

Then we had 3 dishes which are Chilli prawn scrambled egg, Chicken Burger, and French Toast. I really enjoyed the chilli scrambled egg as it has sambal in it. The French toast was yummy!

The staff was very friendly !

Such a cute and cosy cafe in Prospect Hill Road off Burke Road in Camberwell. Staff were so friendly and the cafe had a great vibe! We ordered the French Toast, the bircher muesli, the smashed avo! My favourite was the avo as I can never go past smashed avo! Coffee was also delicious. Thanks for having us!
Hello. Imnikki
4.5

Prospect Espresso has been a mainstay in Camberwell's cafe scene for a while now, but a recent change in management means that new life has been injected into the cafe.

The new menu reads like a dream, especially for a sweet tooth like me. Hotcake and French Toast! How was I to decide? I went with the Red Velvet Hotcake, and it was a sight to behold. Bright red fluffy hotcake, pastel pink tarty raspberry ice cream and fairy floss, rich dark chocolate sauce, creamy chocolate mouse and a handful of assorted berries to balance out all the sweetness. Absolutely gorgeous, both in looks and taste.

My partner ordered the Wild Mushrooms with wilted greens, crisped kale, poached eggs and chashu pork belly. He adored his dish as much as I did with mine. The different textures from each component was cleverly thought out to give a well-rounded mouthfeel with each bite, and each one was as flavourful as the next.

Skinny latte and matcha latte were our drinks of choice, and while more subdued in flavours, both were nonetheless pleasantly enjoyable.

The interaction between staffs and customers, especially the regulars, were delightful, and they took great effort in taking care of everyone.

It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to dine at Prospect Espresso, and I must thank Sisi for having us.

We came into prospect espresso the other day just before the Sunday Camberwell market, the café itself is pretty small so it does fill up quite quickly .

We ordered thee prawn chilli scramble, the red velvet hotcakes and also hash stack which we were advised is a signature dish.

The stack was huge and the hash was so crunchy ad delicious, the fried egg on top was perfectly cooked and the flavours going on in this dish was superb! Loved the cauliflower bits and the generous serving of bacon

The chilli prawn chilli scramble was also really good, could do with more chilli but the eggs were really silky and smooth. Loved the prawns inside , very juicy and not over cooked

The pancake was a little too dense for my liking, it looked spectacular on the plate and we loved the chocolate on top and the ice cream that came with it- fair warning this pancake is HUGE

Thanks for having us !

Always a great place for a good cup of coffee and to catch up with friends! Small area and not outdoor seating so don’t alway expect to find a table! But worth visiting!

Staff: 4/5
Food: 3/5
Decor: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Will return? Maybe for coffee but that’s it

Good quality coffee but that’s about it from my experience. Obviously can’t comment on all the food but the Rueben sandwich was rather ordinary and way too buttery which left you feeling extremely greasy and “unwell”. The brisket was quite chewy too.
Flying Forward
Prospect Espresso has been a mainstay in Camberwell for a while, but with a new talented young chef from France, the menu has refreshed for the season.
The cafe itself is still comfortable, with small tables, exposed brick walls and greenage scattered throughout.

* Chilli Prawn Scrambled Eggs - I've had a lot of chilli scrambled eggs and this is in my top 3. It's perfectly folded and just set, so it's still a little oozy. It's actually quite a large serving, I'd estimate maybe 4 eggs used. The chilli component is actually the same type of chilli satay oil you find in Chinese restaurants, which is great because it has a roasted, smokey flavour. Fresh, deseeded chilli is also used and the prawns are nice and bouncy. Great dish.

* Hash Stack - The potato hash is made with a buttery potato mash, which has quite a thick and sticky texture. The roasted cauliflower was maybe a little overdone, as it was completely brown, but in the end it is surprisingly nutty. Also love a bit of pan-fried saganaki.

* French Toast - Superb dish, it's probably one of the best French Toasts I've had for a long time. A thick slice of brioche is fried until it's all crispy around the edges and a thick custard is slathered on top. Pavlova favourites are generously scattered on top - diced strawberries, mango, blueberries, raspberries and caramelised banana. Do yourself a favour and get this.

Prospect has found gold in a partnership with Au79 for their coffee beans. The house blend is very smooth with brown sugar and chocolatey notes. After 2 strong lattes I was completely buzzed.

Thanks to Sisi for hosting me today, and special thanks to the young chef. Keep up the good work!

4.4

This small cafe is near the heart of Camberwell junction and boasts an interesting menu of savoury and sweet dishes, as well as eggs how you like them. It is an innovative and new menu put together by a young chef from Paris.

The Bircher muesli is soaked overnight with soya and coconut milk. For the sweet tooth, try the red velvet hotcake; coated with roasted coconut flakes, fresh berries, chocolate mouse and raspberry ice cream.

I had the more healthy Grain Garden Salad today. The bowl was lined with homemade beetroot and chick pea hummus, with perfectly char grilled asparagus and broccoli and a lovely miso dressing. Filling and healthy. Popular with vegans.

My partner had the Rueben sandwich which reminded her of Montreal. A thick filling of corned beef, cheese, sauerkraut, mustard, mayo, etc. It comes with a side of real French fries.

Most meals are between $17 and $22 and are very filling. So arrive hungry for brunch or lunch.
For something lighter, there is an attractive display of cakes, sandwiches and focaccias.

The black coffee was rich and my partner was impressed with a cup of the home made lemonade; fresh, tart and a real palate cleanser.

A small and lively cafe, with interesting food and check the daily specials board.

It’s a lovely cafe that we heartily recommend. Our sincere thanks for the invitation to come here and sample things from the new menu.

Lovely cafe in Camberwell. A thoughtful menu with some of Melbourne’s favourite brunch dishes to choose from. A great selection of coffee and juices to accompany the great dishes. French toast was a highlight as it was a recipe handed down from the French chef’s grandmother.

This is the second time of me visiting this little cosy cafe. I could see the owner has put lots of effort into recreation on their old menu. Food is great as usual, the matcha latte is authentic and the portion is huge which was actually unexpected. We are totally satisfied with all the dishes, except the sour dough in the Benedict is a bit over cooked and made it hard to slice. But overall, this is definitely a 5/5 brunch experience!

Prospect Espresso under new Management! Its always been a well known cafe in Camberwell! Its had a menu facelift and a fresh new chef. The food was well cooked and had some great flavours through it. Generous portion size 👍

Unfortunately the “Reuben sandwich” was very disappointing. Corned beef was wet and fatty, sauerkraut bland and the whole thing overwhelmed by epic amounts of seeded mustard.

My friends’ more breakfast style meals were better.

Not the place it was when it first opened, sadly.

We stopped by for brunch after visiting the Camberwell market. The place was busy, with friendly staff and good food. We got the short rib Benedict and fried chicken burger which was delicious. Only wished they gave more meat in the short rib Benedict!
I had brunch here and it is a great little cafe. I had a strong latte which was really good. I liked the coffee flavour and it wasn’t too hot thank you.

I had a Prospect Hash Stack which consisted of a tasty thick hash brown, crispy bacon, a fried egg, red peppers, roasted cauliflower, picked red onion on sourdough toast.

This was absolutely delicious, and totally moorish. Oh and the side of pork belly was faultless. So yummy lol

My partner had a fried chicken burger w buttermilk marinade crumb on a chicken thigh, pineapple, lettuce and kimchi mayo on a brioche bun.

Hey OMGosh this chicken was moist all the way through and even to the last bite the chicken was still hot! Perfection

And they have a home made lemonade w fresh lemon juice, mint and honey. And the best thing for me was that there was no sugar... yay!! This was sooo good that if it was bottled I’d have brought some!! It was that good lol

This place is definitely worth a visit. Thanks to the owner for the invitation to visit their cafe.

Came here on a Friday, was not hungry to begin with so we only ordered two coffee and one red velvet hot cake to share. We were very pleasantly surprised at what arrived at our table! Not only was it very aesthetically pleasing but the flavours worked and the ice cream cut through the sweetness of the fairy floss and hot cake. Unfortunately I can not recommend this dish for one person as the last couple of bites became quite heavy and dense. Find a pal to share it with and you will be good. Coffee was also on the strong side.

Rating: 4/5 - Will be back if I happen to be in the area and craving a good guilty hotcake.

We came back to Prospect Espresso today to try out the new menu after a change of owners. When I was looking back on the mains I had eaten previously I noticed neither of them were on the current menu which is a great sign of menu rotation. My wife visited last Friday as well so this review reflects food from both visits.

We started with drinks, ordering Homemade lemonade, and an Iced Mocha. The Lemonade was refreshing, not too sweet as only honey was added. It had a delightful hint of mint and was perfect for quenching your thirst in the heat. The iced mocha also very refreshing and the sweetness balance nailed here too.

Today we had the Grain garden salad. This dish was oh so tasty the mix of soft grain, crunchy spiced nut mix, smokey grilled broccoli and asparagus, tangy miso dressing, rocket and the beetroot hommus what a great combination of flavors and textures.

From the specials, we had the French toast. This French Toast was cracking, definitely a 5 out 5 dish and I thought should feature on the main menu. I’ve eaten a quite a few French Toasts in my time but this one stands out, I don’t know how the chef did it but the hidden custard layer inside the brioche is just perfect, mixed with the pralined nuts, fresh berries and lemon curd it was a just a sublime combination. A total winner.

We also had the fried chicken burger, this succulent, tender and oh so juicy chicken was served in a delicious batter with grilled pineapple and morish fries. Yum!!

From the regular menu we tried the red velvet hot cake with chocolate mousse, fairy floss and fresh berries and ice cream. This chocolate fiesta was very sweet and oh so chocolatey, perfect for the chocoholics amongst us.

Lastly I had the Ruben sandwich, which was made up with homemade corned beef with cheese, sauerkraut, mustard seed, capers mayo and dill pickle, served with fries. The seed, pickle and caper combo was the spot on and the fried bread was to die for. I personally found the corned beef a bit too tough for my liking and think it’s cooking needed some refinement. That aside the flavours of this Ruben were very good.

There was a great selection of cakes in the cabinet and we really enjoyed the feel of the place. Thanks so much for inviting us in.

Espy & KD

Wow this place is a hidden gem. Coffee tonic was perfect and food is exceptional plenty of flavor and insta worthy and the staff are very friendly would highly recommend coming back here

Everything about the experience in this cafe was great!! Since we entered the doors, we were greeted with good service and friendly smiles.
Coffee was good and prices were fairly reasonable.
Highly recommend the red velvet hotcake if you’re up for a sweet start to the day! It was fluffy and not too overwhelmingly sweet 😋 if you’re up for something savory, the chili prawn scramble is to go for!
Definitely would come back and recommend my friends here

the staff were incredibly friendly and the food was delicious to match. my veggie fritters were packed full of flavour with a slight spice kick which helped wake me up. the sesame ice cream accompanying the waffles tasted homemade and perfectly balanced the sweetness of the chocolate and waffle. would highly recommend this small gem of a cafe.

This small and cozy cafe is dishing out some well constructed and comforting dishes that will leave you feeling full and satisfied.

We came here for a late lunch, and after some contemplation we decided to go with the Veggie Fritters and Prospect Hash Stack. I've had a fair few fritter dishes for brunch before, and I found Prospect Espresso's Fritters quite refreshing and light. With a large focus on peas (being its key ingredient), you'll find peas present in the fritters itself mixed with spiced pumpkin, as well as on a bed of smashed peas surrounding the fritters. I don't normally eat this many peas, or enjoy eating that many peas for that matter, however Prospect Espresso did a good job at balancing the flavours and making the dish taste refreshing and healthy. Also couldn't complain about getting 2 perfectly cooked poached eggs, which was a win.

The Prospect Hash Stack certainly stacks up pretty well against other hashes we've had in the past. Along with the potato hash, it comes with red peppers, onion, halloumi, and a fried egg all on top of sourdough toast, making it the ultimate comfort food breakfast dish. My partner thoroughly enjoyed it and demolished it within minutes.

3.5 out of 5
I had a weekday visit to this place and was really pleased with everything.
Very good coffee.
Menu options were a bit disappointing, but the dish I had was very good regarding flavour; perhaps it lacked a bit of finesse, but was yummy nevertheless.
The staff were really sweet and lovely.
Service is friendly and relaxed.
Small premises, intimate and cosy cafe.
Great ambience music.
Relaxed vibe overall.

So this was my first time going to prospect espresso having heard from people that it is good and seeing this review. But having tried it now i can safely say i wont ever recommend this to anyone or go back. I ordered a plate of Eggs Benedict and was served with some cold eggs, only few drips of hollandaise, 2 slice of stale and tough as brick bread. On request for some extra hollandaise (which they kindly gave me), it was COLD and clumpy. Thank goodness bacon was okay.

I had heard great things about Prospect Espresso, I read reviews and stalked instagram, all the usual activities before you head out for brunch. Thomas had been a few times and had said the food was great every time – all great signs. Parking was easy around the back with 1-2 hour parking available, a short walk to the main road and we arrived at Prospect Espresso. Admittedly it was smaller than I was expecting, nothing wrong with a cosy cafe. I could imagine it would get quite busy on the weekends with limited seating, luckily we went on a Friday so getting a seat wasn’t a big ask.

Back to prospect again, was really impressed by the coconut scramble. Nice presentation and taste a bit spicy to warm up in the chilled weather. The coffee was always good. Potato Hash and Chicken BLAT were also good, with loads of chips. The price was very reasonable and the staff there were also friendly. However, this time I didn’t find its signature strawberry laminton on the menu. Really miss it, hope they will get the laminton back soon.

After seeing this cafe on IG and drooling over their dishes, I stumbled upon this place heading to the Sunday market and I’m so glad I did! Coffee strong and hot. Service friendly and fast and the place has a good vibe! The fritters and poached eggs were so full of flavour as well as being presented beautifully. I thought it was reasonably priced too. Highly recommend this place!

Very good coffee. i like my dish, the poached egg cooked perfectly! also tried my friends‘ ,tasted nice as well and the portion is quite big! will definitely come back with my families again!

Finally returned to this cafe after many years!!
It’s very cosy and has an interesting menu. I tried the pumpkin fritters with avocado, goats curd and poached eggs which was super tasty and filling! My friend tried the eggs benedict which she also enjoyed. We also both had a cappuccino which was great.
Keen to return to this cafe to try some of their sweet options.

The cafe is cute but a little small especially on weekends so wouldn't consider going there as a big group on weekends.. Anyway, I was really looking forward trying an almond home made milk latte and I was quite unimpressed by the taste, the coffee was probably too acidic for me, but my overall experience was good! Would definitely recommend it for brunch tho!

Got this one on my list for quite sometimes but hadn’t had the chance to visit until recently, since we’re not local. I held my hope up for this one since Zomato rating is pretty good. Let me down big time. The food didn’t impress me when they hit the table. I ordered the cured salmon and my hubby got himself the beef burger. Both dishes were small in portion and as u can see from the pics, lack of finesse in presentation. Salmon was good flavours wise, but I love to have more of the roasted asparagus and horseradish cream as the rice and seeds were quite bland.
My hubby’s burger let him down, there’re just a few chips and the plate looked half full. Not worth paying $19 for sure. Coffee on the other hand was not too bad.

Not sure what happened to this one as they used to have a lot of good reviews and the past pics of the food look amazing too. Maybe change in management.

Generous servings of halloumi what more can i say!! Very tasty combination within the variety of dishes that I have tried from here. Friendly staff and great coffee.

I've had my eye on this one for a loooonnngggg while. It was about time to get it off the list and to test it out on my taste buds. A tiny spot in Camberwell that's easy to miss in the hustle bustle of the shops but such a serene place to take a chill pill!. Walking in we were served and spoken to quite quickly which was great considering the hustle and bustle of brunch hour. The small and cosy space was filled with light and plants making it a lovely place to spend time in. The menu was pretty standard though with no much else apart from the usual brunch fare.

We were greeted warmly and seated immediately on a Saturday morning which was appreciated - although I did note it wasn’t overly busy which I suppose is a warning sign. I’ve dined at this cafe in the past and have had great experiences, however I presume it is now under new management as this experience fell short. My husband asked for a raspberry kombucha but our friendly waitress returned shortly after ordering and explained that the tap was temporarily broken - understandable as it’s not their fault, so easily forgivable. A different server returned after a few minutes to take our food order and she seemed to have trouble not only understanding the menu but also our order. My husband ordered the potato hash dish to which we were told that they were sold out of hash brown. This was a bit frustrating as we weren’t told prior to ordering. They kindly allowed him to substitute the hash for some corn fritters, but our server had difficultly understanding this so the first waitress talked her through it. There was a lot of back and forth for a seemingly simple request. Nevertheless, they allowed the substitution which was nice. I requested the mushroom dish, and asked that my eggs were cooked through as I am pregnant. The server said she understood, but I’m not sure that she processed the request as when our dishes came out (in good time) my eggs were very runny. My mushrooms were stone cold and the beetroot tzadziki that accompanied the dish was very clearly store bought (disappointing for a $18 dish). My husband was also incredibly underwhelmed with his meal. I don’t generally like to make a fuss given I am also in the hospitality industry and I know it can be hard sometimes, however we weren’t asked how our meals were throughout nor when we paid. As I was leaving I told our server that the mushrooms were cold and my eggs were runny to no apology, in fact she seemed quite huffy about it. Needless to say, it was a pretty poor experience - an overall lack of communication, lack of care in the food and lack of ambience within the cafe. Sadly Prospect Espresso has definitely gone downhill and we won’t be returning; $50 for two people is pretty standard in the area but there are definitely some better options in Camberwell. On a brighter note, we got some takeaway coffees on the way out and the coffee isn’t too bad.

Little bit disappointed by Prospect Espresso. Quality has gone down recently since a menu change, I surmise that they may have come under new management as the shop's features, menu and decor have recently undergone a number of changes.
One of my favourite dishes on the menu used to be the Vegan Mac and Cheese Toastie. It had cured onion on the side, which cut through the rich carby-ness of the Mac and Cheese Toastie so beautifully. Please bring it back!!
Consistently good iced lattes and cold brew, no complaints there they are also brought out on cute little coasters, and I have been told the chai lattes are also consistently flavourful and very nice.
On the new menu, there is little that takes my fancy, as there are not many things on the new menu that are truly vegetarian and not overly sweet. For vegetarians that are particular about rennet and gelatin, you may have to opt for the smashed avocado, as my friend and I did. Our dishes were inconsistent with each other, one of us receiving goat's cheese, the other not. The other of us receiving another item, the other not.
Very disappointed that in this sudden change of state, Prospect Espresso has turned from an excellent brunch spot to another brick in the wall in terms of lack-lustre cafes.

Dropped by for an iced chocolate today morning, was pleasantly surprised with how cute the interiors were. The girl at the counter was so friendly. The iced chocolate came with a scoop of ice cream and they handed me a spoon and a straw, loved it, although t could have been sweeter.

Iv heard a lot about this place so I tried it out. On entrance, the cafe is small and cosy. Good service and the menu selection was great so it was difficult to choose. We got the Mac toastie, muesli and siracha benedict burger. Well, we enjoyed all of it! The mac toastie seems like a carb overload but who doesn't love mac and cheese and garlic bread. Such a great combo. Would definitely recommend it for some unique food. Will go back to try the strawberry lamington hot cakes.

Food was better than average and at a decent price. However two of the dishes had yellow bits that looked like crushed nuts sprinkled on them and one of them was served to my friend who is allergic to nuts. After asking the waitress what exactly it was, she claimed ‘there is no nuts in our kitchen’. Just when we were about to dig in, she rushed back from the kitchen and told us it was peanuts. My friend could have ate that dish if the waitress was one second late from the kitchen. It bothers me so much that allergens are not stated on the menu and the waitress don’t know their dishes well enough

Fantastic place for brunch. Greeted by lovely staff & good atmosphere.

I come here few months ago ordered some cereal French toast (which is not on the menu anymore &
Smoked beef brisket ruben! It was so delicious! I cant believe that both dish is gone off the menu. The french toast is crispy and so soft.it dancing in your moth! The beef brisket is oof the HOOK!so good! Perfectly cooked and the flavour was so balanced.

I’ll come back for sure to try another menu!

#BHAsFoodDiary

Extremely bad experience. Selected this place because of the high Zomato rating.
There was only one person in the kitchen and we waited for over one hour for our food. The waitresses kept telling us that our food was coming was coming, but it wasn’t.
When the food finally came, the bread and hush stack was over cooked and burnt, the Bircher was served up as a homemade version (rough scatted), waffle seemed like Coles brand over the counter, strawberry lamination hot cake was serviced up pretty, but when we cut into the hot cake it basically fell apart, we couldn’t use our forks with it, the more we touched it, the more it crumbled on the plate.
When we paid for the food, we didn’t get an apology. We got out of the place quickly and didn’t check our bill, but we were overcharged with 2 extra cups of coffee/drinks which we didn’t order or have had!!!
Angela Qian
Not only waited for 1 hour for our food and service was not good, but also they charged us extra three drinks that we didn’t order. Super dodgy!!!!

Came here because of the food reviews. Disappointed on a Easter with one chef cooking. Food was sub-standard and cold. Took a whole hour for the food. Staff has bad attitude. Stay away!
Carari Lui
We have been waiting for an hour for our food to be served. I understand that we are a group of 6 which might be a big group for you however we noticed that the chef prepared food for people ordered after us. The food served was cold and only the poached eggs were warm. Potato stack was over cooked not to mention decoration was poor. When we pay the bill, the waitress didn’t print out the bill for us to check so I just paid the amount told by the waitress. I asked the waitress for a full receipt after I paid and now I was checking the bill and just found out that they add extra 3 drinks into our bill when we only have 6 people. It was my mistake as well not to check the bill before I pay. Very bad experience.
Melbourne Epicure
Prospect had a really delicious pulled beef dish that’s not on the menu anymore. Sadly. I came here craving that. But had to settle instead for something else. I went with the cured salmon and asparagus dish. The rice pilaf it came with was full of wild rice and crunchy seeds that added a nice texture to the whole thing. Salmon slices were generous and nicely cured. The crème fraiche of sorts was nice and asparagus well seasoned. Coffee was good. I would come back. But I’ll still be missing that pulled beef thing… whatever it was. Coffee is good too.
JW
Came here after reviewing the zomato menu which had 10+ options but came to find only 5 items on the menu (corn fritters, bircher meusli, smashed avacado, cured salmon, +1 other typical breakfast option). There was also one special of French toast. Selection has markedly reduced and not having the strawberry lamington hotcake to choose from was a bit of a downer! Staff asked to clarify our coffee order three times. Seems that maybe management has changed?
All in all our corn fritters and French toast were fresh and tasty, and reasonably priced. Not enough however for a repeat visit, especially given the limited options available.
If you're around the corner, worth a try but if you're making the hike to Camberwell I wouldn't strongly urge you to visit.
AnotherAsianAbroad
Very friendly and quick service.

Ordered the Bircher. It was very light in flavour but I much prefer that than having a Bircher which is too sweet.

Also ordered an almond chai which was nice since they made their own almond milk 😁
Curlsaugogo
smallish serves of brekky that are at the upper end of the price bracket but beautifully executed. service here has been efficient and warm despite the constant bustle.

really lovely staff and excellent coffee, ideal for a little breather throughout the day or a catch up with old friends. we hadnt intended to eat but after seeing our neighbouring tables food we decided to grab a quick bite, and were not at all dissappointed. central location and great quality to back itself on the hipster vibe, we will absolutley be back!
Annabelle Zhang
It was a lovely small cafe, their coffee was great and the food was not so bad. But the Asian lady working there was not very nice. When she talked to us, her tone showed she was impatient and even a bit rude. Won't come back anytime soon just because of her!!!!!
Burgers Of Melbourne
Not a bad venue. Pancakes nice and fluffy, Ruben sandwich has some good flavours. The venue is quite small and very impersonal as the tables are very close to together. Beef burger was ok, nothing special.

We were extremely excited to be invited to celebrate the new menu launch at Prospect, such a classic cafe in the Melbourne brunch scene. My first time at Prospect, the interior was smaller than I had imagined, but still garnered many customers throughout the time we were there on a Thursday lunch time. Located in such a convenient location a few seconds away from the Camberwell train station, Prospect Espresso did not fail to impress with its delicious coffees, instagram-worthy presentation of dishes and unique combination of complementing elements.

We came to this small and cozy cafe on a Sunday around lunch time, we had to wait around 15 minutes before we got seated due to the limited number of tables. But when we sat, it took the staff around 10 minutes to give us water and then another 10 before they took our order (and we had to wave them down). The food took at least another 45 minutes to arrive.

We got the Hash Stack, Cured Salmon and the Chicken Burger. The Hash Stack came with a generous serving of bacon and a thick homemade hash brown which was great. The Salmon was light and refreshing, lots of veggies. The Chicken burger came with a side of chips and it was tasty and nice.

Overall, the food and coffee was good but we'd probably come on a weekday next time and won't be back on the weekend due to the wait times.
Brididonato
Been here a couple times, food is excellent, never had a problem until today. The cafe was packed when we got there as expected, we were told to wait 2 minutes outside for a table, ended up waiting for at least 15 minutes. As people were leaving from the cafe, there was then a table free. As we were about to walk in, the waitress let another group of people take the table who just arrived. We were then expect to wait for another table, we decided to leave
EgglessVeggo
Ample of vegetarian options and really good quality and selection of hot drinks.

Food portion was generous and felt prices are quite competitive compared to other cafes located in and around Camberwell..

Will certainly return to try other veggie options in the menu!

Had the ‘Strawberry Lamington Hotcake’ and a double espresso. The espresso was nice and strong with a little bitterness and acidity but it would be great if they could stock up on some espresso cups rather than serving them using standard cappuccino cups. On the plus side they provide a small glass of sparkling water to clear your palate. The ‘Strawberry Lamington Hotcake’ was one giant hotcake with most of the strawberry coulis concentrated in the centre. The hotcake was dusted with fine desiccated coconut and topped with a scoop of vanilla mascarpone, then layered with some sliced strawberries and sprinkled with toasted almonds. Finally there were some white chocolate crumbles on both ends of the plate and a few more sliced strawberries.

The hotcake was soft and moist but slightly crumbly; it breaks into very small pieces with ease so it was a bit of a challenge to eat with a knife and fork that was provided. Might be my clumsiness but eating with a spoon would definitely be much easier. As for the flavour, the intensity of sweetness gets stronger as you approach the centre where the strawberry coulis was (took the photo a bit too early before reaching the middle); it has a tasty concentrated strawberry sweetness but might be a bit too sweet if you just eat the outer part of the hotcake first and saving the middle for last. The actual strawberries were quite sweet and not very tart and the coconut added a secondary layer of flavour to the hotcake; you can taste the essense of the coconut but the flavour was still predominately strawberry. The vanilla mascarpone had a light neutral sweetness and the creaminess mixed well with the soft hotcake. The almonds added a crunchy texture to the bite and the white chocolate crumbs were quite soft and sweet so it didn’t stand out much when you eat it together with the hotcake.

Overall the meal was tasty; the coffee was great despite me nitpicking on the cup and the hotcake looked amazing. The crumbly texture and the desiccated coconut do resemble a lamington and it is all about strawberry; true to its name. Managed to finish the hotcake and enjoyed the flavours but would be even better if there was a little less of the strawberry coulis, though probably wouldn’t be an issue for a sweet tooth.

Nothing particularly exciting about this place except for their coffee + iced coffee which came quickly and was well made. The brunch selections were 'fancy' and certainly 'Asian inspired', however was quite expensive and nothing special. Sadly, my expectations were not met fining here for lunch.

👍🏽: Delicious food and coffee ☕️. The short girl with dark hair in denim shorts that was working this morning was very chirpy and smiley😄. Great service.

👎🏽: Chairs were a little uncomfortable if sat in too long and the table was wobbly

We ate the Hash Stack and Thyme Mushroom.
Highly recommend!

The homely feel of Prospect Espresso and friendly staff made us feel immediately welcome. Located just off the main Burke Rd strip, this quaint cafe provides a pleasant break from the bustling trams and cars.

We ordered the Strawberry Lamington Hotcakes and the Chicken Burger. Despite not being as hot as hoped, the hotcakes was unique dish and very delicious. Prospect took a simple approach towards the Chicken Burger and this was definitely the right move, not straying too far away from the classic chicken burger.

Overall, I would definitely revisit. The food was a reasonable price, tasty and presented exceptionally well. Looking forward to try the coffee when we come back!!!

A lovely and cosy cafe located conveniently just around the corner from the Sunday Camberwell Markets. Hungry from our bargain shopping, we enjoyed a delicious and filling breakfast with excellent service and top notch coffee.

We had the Hash Stack and Citrus/Dill Cured Salmon (both $18.50). The Salmon was beautifully complemented by generous serves of smashed avo and beetroot goat’s cheese curd - a super yum, refreshing yet filling dish. My dining companion really enjoyed the Hash Stack with its generous serve of crispy bacon atop a thick housemade hash brown.
