A quaint little gem! I had to order chicken and jokbal since it's in the restaurant name! Boy oh boy, everything was delicious. Ultimate COMFORT FOOD. Do yourself a favour and try it because it's such a hidden gem.

Best Korean in Melbourne so far. All the food was tasty: pancake, fried chicken, stir fry. I suggest to sit downstairs, better vibes than upstairs.

Yummy! Hidden gem in the area, menu pretty special compared to other Korean restaurants. Review above said they have the K pop room upstairs as well, gotta check out next time :P šŸ˜‹

Wonderfully tasty Korean food. Our kids loves the food. Fried chicken is crispy. Definitely coming back again.

Love this place. The team make you feel like you're family, looking after you really well. Have yet to make it up to the K-Pop room, but that just means I'll have to get a bigger group in

Consistently good jokbal, one of my favourite local restaurants. Very kind and helpful staff.

Highly recommend the sweet chilli chicken with bone! Absolutely delicious! Loved the corn cheese and the pork stew. Best Korean restaurants ever!
Tracey
Friendly service, great food and we will definitely come back.
Gracie
The food was so sad and bland. Had the kimchi pancake and japchae. Pancake was middle of road, japchae has 3 pieces of meat and lack in flavour. No banchan served. Would not come back.

It was a spur of a moment drop in to this Korean eatery in Hawthorn. What a pleasant surprise! It certainly deserves its high rating!
Quick service, many variety, good value for money and most importantly yummy dishes! We will definitely come back for more!!!

Very good service and food. Food was served quickly and the quality was not flawed at all. Waiters were nice and pro active in asking if everything was ok and made us feel at home.

Really good authentic Korean restaurant, central to everywhere in Camberwell. Great place for a feed after a morning at Camberwell markets. Will be back!

I think I have found my new love.

The gamjatang was rich and thick from the bean paste, with the pork meat melting in the mouth (think lamb shank, but softer).

The bulgogi had a flavoursome sauce with tender pork and calamari.

I will definitely be back to try the rest of their offerings

This was our second time there and just like the first time it didnā€™t disappoint. The service was nice and friendly and food was fantastic as well as quick. The first time we have been there the complimentary entrees they brought included bean sprout salad and potato salad, which I was quite disappointed to see have changed. I would have loved to get my hands on that bean sprout salad once again. The prices are very reasonable if not cheap. In between two of us we paid $45. Ambient is absolutely gorgeous, giving a very homey and cheerful vibe. Sadly the restaurant was pretty quiet as everything was perfect consistently the second time around. It should be bustling with that level of quality food and service. All in all, absolutely recommended for a night out.

Always awesome food and super friendly. The space is actually quite big if you add up the upstairs

Weā€™ve been here twice. Great kimchi jigae and wonderful cold noodle soup. The honey soy fried chicken is delicious. The sping onion soy fried chicken tastes like an original fried chicken though. We love the sauce that comes with it - wasabi infused with lemon amongst other ingredients. All dishes are served in generous portions. The ambience is nice and clean. Staff are friendly.

So delicious

This place really has a bit of everything! 10 different flavoured fried chicken and 4 different flavours of Kim Chi pancakes! The food was cooked perfectly. The chicken was so juicy and the jokbal was just fall on the bone. Honestly the best Korean restaurant I've ever been to.

Amazing little korean joint, great food and friendly staff

Ordered sweet chilli KFC and Beef Bulgogi. Food was great and service was excellent. House wine is of a good standard and the tap beer is a perfect match for the KFC

I have been here a few times. It is always great. Especially the chicken!

We ordered a couple of dishes from this place via Ubereats and were surprised by the quality and quantity of the food provided. They really packed our order meticulously and it was a pleasant surprise that the Korean cold noodle was still very cold when it arrived at our door step!

The noodles were delicious. The soup had a fresh and slightly tangy flavour. We also had a vegetarian bibimbap. This was chock full of vegetables which retained their crunchiness.

What a satisfying meal!

Their spicy pork bulgogi tastes amazing! And the place is super cute. The bulgogi sauce was great and very flavorful - went twice in a week because we kept craving it and it's a great place to have both lunch or dinner. Looking forward to trying more things on the menu!

Excellent Korean Fried Chicken. Korean family run restaurant - consistently good authentic Korean food. Clean bright simple surrounds, friendly service. The Sweet chili fried chicken is delicious.

Restaurant located on Riversdale Road, west of Camberwell Junction. Friendly service. We ordered braised pork belly with kimchi, Original Jokbal, Bulgogi tteokbokki... the food was nice with quick service.

ordered uber eats from here and wanted to try as the chicken was yummy . A wide choice of Korean dishes . We ordered the bone original chicken which was the best .

I've had food from Chicken & Jokbal many times - dine in and takeaway. Our waiter is always very attentive and friendly (and knows so many languages). My favourite dish is the Cold noodle in beef broth, even in winter I still order it. Food and service is both amazing and the atmosphere is nice and cosy. Best Korean restaurant in the area for sure. They also do delivery for orders over $50. Such a lovely authentic family run business, would recommend!

Two of my friends and I met at at Chicken & Jokbal for lunch. The restaurant is an inviting space and we were greeted by the waiter. We ordered gamjatang, tofu kimchi and a jokbal set. The gamjatang hotpot was amazing, tofu kimchi was delicious served on its sizzling hotplate and the jokbal was tender and delectable when dipped in the wasabi sauce. Overall can't fault this restaurant. Five stars!

Had a trial as they are famous for their Jokbal, and it didn't dissapoint, honestly I prefer the Jokbal in another joint in chaddy but this place has the best service ever, had my charity birthday dinner the week after here and the boss and the waiter were very accommodating and super nice by giving complimentary drinks for the children and didn't charge us for the corkage fee in the end. Overall happy with our experience and will definitely go back.

Nice and cosy little place with really amazing food served by a friendly waitress. The greetings she gave and conversations we had with her was very welcoming, made us feel like weā€™ve been here for years. The jokbal is out of this world! Can already see myself coming back here in winter for that homely tender pork dish šŸ˜‹šŸ¤¤

I had:
Vegetable pancake
Spicy jokbal
I liked the jokbal and the complementary lettuce and noodles that came with it. the meat was really tender and the skin and collagen so sticky and satisfying to eat. But the spicy sauce is really quiet spicy and even tasted bitter the more I had. it was too overpowering so I canā€™t taste the flavour of the meat itself.
I didnā€™t like the pancake it wasnā€™t crispy at all tasted like msg it was soft I think it havenā€™t been cooked in enough oil.

Food was very delicious and filling ! Highly recommend this Korean restaurant šŸ˜‹ great place to go with friends! Great and quick service as well.

Greeted by the loveliest young lady.. she set the mood for the whole night! Explains the menu well and gives you good options to pick from. The food itself is on another level.. some of the best Korean food Iā€™ve had. Great portions sizes.. great value for money. We tried the:
fried chicken (must try)- crispy chicken, juicy on the inside and the flavour coated ones we recommend are the sweet chilli or the soy chicken.
Spicy Jokbal- my first time trying it and it was a 10/10. Full of flavour and the meat was just melt in the mouth.
Cannot wait to be back for more!!
Amazing! Server was so amazing, provided great recommendations and was so polite. Food was all made from scratch and made with love. Food was reasonably priced as well. Definitely will be coming back again soon. Would highly recommend.

I love Korean food and my latest obsession/craving is bossam (ė³“ģŒˆ). It is a boiled pork dish where you wrap the meat in napa cabbage or perilla leaves along with radish sala, kimchi and salted shrimp. It has become one of my favourite things to eat alongside kimchi jjigae, mul naengmyeon, jokbal and kfc.

The bossam and jokbal at Chicken & Jokbal was thoroughly enjoyable, the servings were generous and the flavours were very well-balanced. Since I really like bossam, I found the dish really addictive and was a bit sad when I had devoured the whole plate. I have had a number of bossam dishes across Melbourne and everyone has their own way of presenting this dish and I have enjoyed each and everyone one of them in their own unique way.

If I am ever having bossam cravings, I am just really happy that this place is just a 15 minutes drive from my place.
Hello World!
We recently discovered this small restaurant and it surprised us a little. Its taste accomodated to everyone. The spring onions fried chicken pieces were very tender and their wasabi based sauce made them a very interesting combination. The spicy pork w rice in stone pot was good for itā€™s taste. The spicy stir fried rice cakes however had too little content for its price. This was the only let down of the experience. The restaurant was decorated with hand drawings which input the ideology of the shop owner, a happy place to hang out.

Cant praise this place enough, definitely a hidden gem. Portions are generous and all the food is delicious, especially the Jokbal. Very clean home style decor too. Highly recommend.

Quick service, great price, clean place and delicious food. Fried chicken was definitely my favourite. Quite an underrated place that needs more attention!! 5/5 rating :)

Food was scrumptious, authentic with an interesting twist of Korean flavours balanced well to the taste buds. The environment and service was top notch at its level and the owner was superbly attentive and thinks of the needs of his customers even before we knew it.

A place worth frequenting alone or with family and friends.

Will definitely be back!!

With Kopan grill closing we needed to find another unpretentious home style Korean Eatery.
Well here it is.
No fancy decor just good honest very yummy food . Served by great staff. Charming Hanna thank you.
The meals are have great authentic flavours at very reasonable price.
Try the Korean Cocktail šŸŽŠ for a change of beveridge. Lots of tables upstairs as well.
Sandy
Best Korean restaurant in the area! I had the "hangover bone soup" - it was full of flavour, vegetable packed, just the right amount of spicy (I'm usually a "half-seasoning-packet Shin Ramen" person). Fantastic service, staff super friendly. Can't wait to come back and try the soft tofu stew.

Great little suburban Korean restaurant that Camberwell/hawthorn lacks in.

Enjoyed the Army Stew/hot pot on a cold night with Korean Fried Chicken and chestnut rice wine. Service was friendly and attentive with majority of tables fully occupied when we dined there.

My family had enjoyed themselves and left with food babies :)

Please keep up the good work !

Loved Chicken and Jokbal! A fried chicken oasis. The fried chicken was incredible, the spicy and soy were a favourite! Veggie dumplings also were delicious. The service was great, attentive and were accommodating of changing spice levels. Will be heading back to try other things on the menu

Love this Korean restaurant. It is fairly new opened in 2017 but good quality food and tasty and great service too. Ā not too expensive but parking is a problem.

The stand out part of this restaurant is the customer service. The waitress was incredibly friendly and accommodating especially when it came to our kids. She spoke to our kids in a non condescending manner, told them sheā€™d get them special paper cups and kids cutlery. When the kids got restless, she gave them some drinks to pacify my under 5s. The food was good. We had a beef bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi on rice and the beef bulgogi noodles. I loved my pork bulgogi. We will be back again!!

Came to this cozy little restaurant for dinner with my friends. Had so many different types of dishes that you won't be able to find in other Korean restaurants. Not usually a fan of meat, however the jokbal, was no joke, its so delicious! My absolute favourite was the army stew, very tasty and perfect for the cold weather. Everything we ordered came if a good proportion, definitely worth the money (not expensive to begin with). Workers there were really welcoming and provided good customer service. Will definatly Ā recommend this place to everyone! :)

I was with my other Korean friends and one of my friend strongly recommended, so we had dinner here. It's not listed here but it's B.Y.O so we went to Dan Murphy's to grab some beer while we were waiting for the food. It's not so pricey so I did not expected such quality but it was AMAZING! We ordered sweat chilli fried chicken, jokbal and army stew.. it was literally stunning. I not only liked how the food was served but the dishes were so pretty as well. I love korean food :D My new favourite restaurant.
Curry To Go
Went there on Sunday night. A friend of mine recommended the place. A tiny restaurant with less than 10 tables. We ordered a pork bone soup, a bossam, and a fried chicken. The pork bone soup was hearty enough on a cold night. The bossam was top notch. The dish came with some dipping sauce, gutjeori (fresh kimchi) and raddish salad. Probably the best bossam in Melbourne. However, the fried chicken was a bit of disappointment. I wouldn't recommend fried chicken. Overall, we did enjoy dining there, with reasonable price, attentive service and , most importantly, yummy food.

What a find ! This little place has dishes we haven't seen anywhere else in Melbourne (like Jokbal & hangover stew) and also has lots of variety in the popular casual dishes Bibimbap & Korean fried chicken. Plus the colourful and satisfying assortment of side dishes that come with your order. It all combines to finally give me the Korean local restaurant I've been wishing for since my first bibimbap several years ago. A few key words for those on the same hunt : Healthy balanced meals (lots of veggies to balance the meat options on the menu), satisfying portions, tasty, hot stone bibimbap (sizzling hot). Not BYO and no toilets I believe (but didn't check). Convenient opening hours. Definitely returning !!

Update 1 week later :
Yes definitely has a toilet (very important!) Haven't checked about the BYO and frankly don't care yet - focused on testing out the new dishes and the standard of cooking ...very good so far!

Thanks zomato for finally listing this place after multiple requests! Great little spot and friendly staff. Delicious food at reasonable prices.

2nd visit and the service was friendly but really sub par. 3 times we asked for a corkscrew and glasses. We had to get our own plates after the food was served and also had to ask to get kimchi and it was a tiny amount compared to last time we visited!!! Come'on guys this is pretty basic stuff. I've dropped my rating until things improve.
