Review Cattivo Cafe - Camberwell

Bought a large salad for $12. Got to the office and found out it was only half full. What a ripoff! Save your money and go elsewhere.

Great little cafe. New Chinese owners are maintaining food and coffee standards. BUT - the heating and cooling is broken and they really need to fix it! Edit a week later. They added another floor heater. It made a big difference. Thanks

An admirable selection of delicious dishes for lunch, as well as all day breakfast. Service was pleasant and prompt, and the atmosphere tasteful and not noisy. Overall a great place to go for lunch.

a group of us went for a work lunch & the Caesar salad was tiny, drowned in dressing & the amount if poached chicken was pitiful. I am actually a small eater & will not be going back again for a salad or if I need a meal.

Stuffs are very good and I visited the cafe several times because of their nice welcome. Advise all people working near by to this Cafe and have some fresh foods

Calm and relatively quiet during my visits, Cattivo does coffee well, without costing too much. Seems to have a loyal base of customers as well.

Not as busy as other places, which I like. Coffee was great and food as good as anywhere else. Nice and quiet. Would definitely recommend this place.

I bought a Groupon for this cafe. The food was a wonderful treat, I highly recommend a visit here!

Went here on six people groupon. Service was very friendly and we were all happy with the food which was delicious and presented well. Lovely ambience and great coffee. My son said it was a great experience. We want to come back!.

We came here for lunch and ordered penne bolognaise and my partner ordered corn n zucchini fritters, my partner fritters was okay, but my bolognaise was very bland, its not lack of seasoning bland but lack of herb and spices bland and very watery, so even though i already added salt, it didnt help, asked for ketchup, they dont have and gave tomato relish instead and it was overly sweet, almost when im about to finish my meal, i found a piece of hard plastic, which is probably from containers or food packaging, didnt complain as lazy to do so, as most chinese owned cafe, what will they do anyway? sorry, thats it. Coffee and service were good, thats why i gave them 3 instead of 2.
Overall very underwhelming and wont rush back so soon.

Awesome little cafe with great atmosphere !! Called in for lunch and ordered a chicken burger. The Burger was great, lots of favor and did not disappoint!!! The service was quick and friendly. Great selection of food to choose from and I will certainly call back to try other dishes

Good coffee and a nice looking menu. Didn’t eat there but I’d be happy to back based on the food that was coming out. Milkshakes and juices were made at the counter which was very loud out in the cafe, maybe too loud! Coffees were good and the sweet stuff looked lovely too!

Cute little quaint cafe, with some decent food and friendly service. The fish tacos are strongly recommended, they were better than some I've had at Mexican-specific places. My spaghetti carbonara was fine but a touch bland.

Great variety and a definite well-priced Menu ...

Good location, parking at the back .... quaint, warm ambiance, super pleasant service.

5/10 $16.50 "reheated" Corn, Zucchini and Feta fritter with smashed avocado and slightly overcooked poached egg. Got to make those fritters fresh ... this is Melbourne :-)

9/10 $15.00 three Fish Tacos, just very well made and enjoyable.

Coffee was okay, 6/10 $3.70 small Latte, Dimattina's coffee beans and Wega combination, upgrade needed to be a serious contender in the area. FOOD TRIP
Cattivo is a cute little cafe perfect for a quick lunch or brunch. Food and drinks are decent and prices are reasonable. Green Smoothie with Spinach, Mint, Watermelon, Honeydew, Lemon and Coconut water. Very refreshing and naturally sweet. Easy to drink 8.5/10. Corn, Zucchini and Fetta Fritter topped with Crushed Avocado, Sauteed Mushrooms and Poached Eggs $16.50

I come here office since I've been working at a client site in the area. Coffee is good. I've brought a bunch of people from the office and they've ordered things like sandwiches and been happy with them . I, however, usually just have their meatballs with a salad. Their beetroot and barley is nice though they used to use better feta. Still good though. Ancient grain or the roasted veggies are also nice sides.

Nice convivial little café with small, simple menu. Great coffee and good quality breakfast/lunch food. Their doughnuts are well-known too!

Dropped in for a coffee and Nutella donut. Unfortunately no donuts but the fruit scone and banana bread I shared with my husband were warm and delicious. The flat white was heaven and the staff friendly and sufficient will be back one morning for $5 coffee and donut very soon.

Italian with love, I am not usually into it but any cuisine executed well deserves a big hats off. A small menu and a small venue keeps it cosy.

From the communal table, to the funky retro 50's music (sets at an excellent volume), to the waft of fresh ginger as they freshly squeezed our breakfast juice (I ordered orange, pineapple, carrot and ginger), everything was perfect.

Solid local. The coffee is well made by the main barista, but it has been below par when made by others, so it comes down to the execution as to why Cattivo is one of my regulars for coffee. The food is fairly safe, but yummy and nourishing. There are always house-baked goodies on the counter - the scones are always a treat, and there are daily special salads that add a little element of surprise to a visit for lunch. It's a fairly calm, easy and unpretentious place that makes you feel at home.

Excellent food great vibe

Bravo. I'm not usually so much into places that are as conservative as this, but you have to give kudos to a job well done. The coffee and fare is very well executed, and I like the not-too-bigness off the joint.

Great coffee. Coffee has been perfect every time and the bomboloni are to die for. Friendly service and nice relaxed atmosphere too. Can't wait to go back!

Average coffee, super oily muffins, staff showed a bored attitude. I remember food being nice last time I lunched there but not sure if i will be back in a hurry.

No table service, ordered coffee and breakfast for 2 paid before hand. Wanted another coffee would accept pay wave for the extra 7 bucks if they actually did a bill it would have been 50... Crap. Good ok

I have walked past Cattivo almost daily for some time now, and have finally chosen to have lunch here with my next door neighbour. It was so difficult to decide from all the delicious items both on the chalk board and in the cabinet. I ordered the Tuna pasta salad that was just perfect: delicious ratio of pasta, tuna, and vegetables. The stuffed peppers and baked pasta and pizza slices also aroused me and I will be back for them in the future! My neighbour ordered a tomato and bean soup which was so cutely presented in a little croc pot, and was extremely delicious and good quality. The place has subtle music, and a relaxed vibe and feels very good quality all over - like the owners have made an effort to create a sort of European feeling environment. We love it, and definitely will be back! So much so that we are sitting here writing this review now over my cup or earl gray. Thanks Cattivo!

Definitely not kid friendly and long wait for coffee.

Amazing breakfast!. Best breakfast I have ever had! Perfectly seasoned eggs balsamic mushrooms and the GOOD type of bacon! You know the stuff that comes with the yummy crispy fat and all the flavour! Menu tends to change (mostly seasonaly) which is great! Changes things up a little but without being surprised too often. Lunch is also fabulous, love a short but sweet menu! You know your getting good produce and home cooked meals by the chef all made to order. Can't go past the beautiful soft gnocchi if its on the menu. Fresh made bomboloni with a coffee is also a must. Delicious! I miss melbourne's quaint trendy little cafes and Cattivo fits the bill perfectly without being pretentious.

Will be back. Loved it! Staff are so warm and friendly, treat you like you've been going there for years! Finally somewhere to have lunch that is for the most part a hipster free zone. Good soy latte, and the house made NUTELLA FILLED BOMBOLONE (nuttella filled doughnut) is actually delicious. Menu is a proper Italian fare, will definitely be back to eat.
Isabella
Bomboloni fantastico. Nothing beats the warm nutella bomboloni with the best cappacino in Camberwell .. great work Marty!
Rob
Meatballs are amazing! Great casual dining and quick, friendly service.

Bomboloni and a pot of tea for $5.50. I love it here.

Great for lunch. Friendly staff, consistently good coffee and a broad selection of light lunches.

Always visit when in Melbourne. Best coffee around. Great new dinner menu. Can't go past the pork stuffed calamari in spicy peperonata!! Looking forward to a revisit soon!

Cool Camberwell Cafe. The staff are lovely, the meals good value, the coffee is without fault and there are gluten-free options as well. What more could you ask for? Try the frittata with side salad and you won't be disappointed.

I liked my breakfast, my wife didn't. 50/50
