Review Papaya Thai Restaurant - Cammeray

The food was ok, nothing crazy... but what disappointed me mostwas that I ordered Veggie and Tofu Pad Khing and it was full of chopped garlic, I didn't find actually the taste of the sauce, TOFU? THERE WERE NO TOFU... Missed? Forgot? No idea but very disappointed. I will be happy if someone contact me, but I dont think I will order again. That sticks? Well, not sure. I'm very dis

Update: they have new menus! Excellent authentic Thai food. Since the change of management the menu has improved remarkably, there is an additional lunch menu of Street food gems. Highly recommended the noodles dishes like Pad See Ew.

Used to be a nice neighbourhood Thai place, but recently the size of their portions shrank to half of what they used to be. Last delivery : received half a container ( no exaggeration there) full for the same price. Both me and my partner where left hungry . I spoke to the girl at the front picking up my next take away and she said this is the portion sizes now. Understand the cost rises and I would be happy to pay few dollars extra for the adult size meal. Sadly it is not an option and we are not eating or ordering from there anymore.

Best Thai Ever. Not the bog standard Thai menu. Such an amazing array of really yummy things. Can recommend the duck fried rolls....papaya salad and pork skewers though once the salad had chilli in it so u can ask for no chilli The coconut rice was incredible.. how can rice be incredible? The roast duck with plum sauce and star anise was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. They also have sticky rice and garlic rice. Second trip and we will be doing the 25 minute drive again no problems. It's amazing.

A wonderful place to hold a function! We had a 70th birthday function at Papaya. We were able to have the whole restaurant, with a beautiful and affordable set menu and byo wine. The owner was so flexible with what we wanted - allowing us to bring in our own decorations and amend the menu. The service was fantastic. The space is so beautiful filled with light, and there's a fantastic space for children to run around in next to the restaurant. It was very private too. Highly recommended!

Delicious Thai food, have never been disappointed. Quick service. Good atmosphere, can sometimes be a bit noisy when busy.

We have been here previously and that is why we returned. One dish last night was not up to standard and they rectified that at checkout. In general very good and tasty food combined with very good service. We will be back

Food is generally very good but check your bill. I have been overcharged a couple of times for takeaway. Crisy skin pork (Kana moo grob) tasty but soggy. Pad se ew and the Kai Satay very good though.

Great food, friendly staff and good value, good for group of friends as they always have room and can split bills.<br/>Also good for families with young kids.

I come here all the time and the staff are ALWAYS friendly. The food is delicious but just each out with the tofu pad Thai you might be missing some veggies so I'd recommend just the regular vegetable pad Thai. The peanut satay is also to die for. <br/>I highly highly recommend this Thai joint, I've tried many in Northbridge/Cammeray and always come back here :)

Good Thai with wide menu. Fresh food with specials that seem to change nightly/weekly. Very quick service of food but not great customer service. BYO which is a bonus too.

Papaya Thai was quite a disappointment tonight. From the beginning the service was quite poor and lack of. We were seated at a table right in front by the very noisy kitchen. We ended up asking to be moved to a quieter table at the back of the restaurant. We ordered the special vegetarian fresh spring rolls - there was little vegetables in these. For mains I had a duck dish which was served with basically no vegetables. Also ordering the barramundi special which was incredibly dry and tasteless.

We arrived a little late for a booking but the staff were friendly and understanding. We had vegetarian curry puffs as an early entree while we waited for another friend to arrive. They were served quickly and were excellent. The mains also arrived quickly and all together, the right temperature and excellent quality. Staff were professional and attentive. Absolutely recommend this place for a relatively cheap night out at very reasonable prices.

Very disappointing experience last night. Service was virtually non existent and appeared quite disorganized. The food serves were small and I think for the first time ever, our group went to another restaurant for dessert because we were just not full! Unfortunately the dishes had little taste and were quite bland! The dishes had little protein and were just padded out with other bits and pieces. There are much better Thai restaurants around. Give it a wide berth!

...would definitely return for the food and I loved the fact that they had an open kitchen where you could see flames rising up from the wok and could almost feel the heat from them.

Good Thai food, delivery was good but small serve.. Ordered food for delivery. Arrived in acceptable time frame. The soft shell crab wrapped in wanton was so so, chilli jam chicken and ginger beef as good as most Thai restaurants. The meat seem small but enough for two. Would order from them again but probably skip the soft shell crab.

Service was Slow<br/>Waited an Hour for our meals<br/>Asked 3 times where our meals were and were told each time that they were on their way - except that that wern't<br/>The restaurant was only half full so its not like they were busy.<br/><br/>Ordered the Lamb Cutlets Paid $20 plus and only got 3<br/>very ordinary cutlets<br/>The salad was so small - not worth the money.<br/>Food overall was quite drab and boring.<br/>Womt be back.

Bad value for money. Order was delivered in reasonable time but the serving sizes were tiny.<br/><br/>Massamum curry was a half height container with 4 tablespoon sized pieces of low quality beef, one half potato and a lone cashew nut in about half a cupful of sauce.<br/>The grilled chicken entree was tasty and good size. <br/>Other dishes were small and underwhelming.<br/>With so many great Thai restaurants and takeaways in the area we will not be coming back in a hurry.

I was surprised at how run of the mill / boring the meals where here ! And the service was like get em in and get em out , terrible and quite rude staff . Will never go back . Huge thumbs down from me !!!!!

Bad Service. We were are large group of 30 people and we had to ask for more food. We were served a salad with one prawn between five people on a small plate. For en tray we were given one bamboo stick with a narrow piece of chicken in a very small bowl. We found the staff unfriendly and they did not set up enough tables for the booked 30 people. We will never go there again.

Terrible!. Booked ahead to celebrate a 70th birthday. We ordered the banquet for 30 people a week ahead yet there was very little food, as an example 1 shrimp between 5 people. The service was very slow and unhelpful. We were seated across 3 tables, which isn't an issue, however the tables being 4, 6 and 20 people was! We were very disappointed as it had come highly recommended. None of our party of 30 will return here!

Excellant Thai. This well established thai serves lovely, healthy, flavoursome food. I use Papaya on a regular basis for both take out and eat in and have always found their food consistently very good. The service is always friendly and helpful. Portions are huge. The best value suburban Thai around. Love you Papaya! 10/10

Tom YUM YUM!!. Been to this place a few times, but more often than not i just get it delivered.<br/><br/>The food is FANTASTIC - delicious flavours, one of the best thai's i have had. On the pricey side for thai but like i said the beautiful flavours make it worth it.<br/><br/>Yum Ped (duck salad) and Tom Yum soup are my staples - i get them every time.<br/><br/>The decor of the place is pretty cool, but its always noisy and cramped on a sat pm. The service is less than excellent, if they would only smile and seem the tiny bit interested then that would be a marked improvement. I have definitely had worse service, its not too bad really but they just seem cold and miserable. For this reason i get delivery - what a shame too, because the fit out of the actual restaurant is pretty modern and funky. <br/><br/>When ever i get delivery is always delivered very quickly! Since Rim Tang in Willoughby closed with no notice, ive had to find a Thai substitute that measures up to Rim Tang, and these guys are pretty close.<br/><br/>7/10 from me. Ill be back again!

In a city swamped with Thai's it's not going to blow your mind. We were there on a busy Saturday night and the service was good. The money bags were delicious and all our other dishes were enjoyable and well presented. It's nice inside. We will go back, I'll give it a 7.

Pity about the service. We came for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was packed! Squeezed so tight you had to circumnavigate the whole floor to get to your seat. The food was visually appealing and reasonably tasty but the service was appalling. They were quite understaffed for the night but the waitstaff needed to be flagged down for service and were quite unfriendly. I ordered the lamb shank massaman which came out cold. <br/><br/>We tried telling a waitress the problem as she was cleaning the table opposite and for our efforts the only response we received was a glare and a wordless walk-off! In the end we had to take it up to the counter to get it sorted (which meant stuck in the microwave for 90 seconds). No apology or discount was offered. <br/><br/>I don't think we'll be back.

Good vibe, nice food, a little pricey for the porportions, but full of flavour.

Nice food but really let down by such slow service especially when you have finished the food.

Top service, very friendly and efficient. Food is well presented and tasty.

We are always happy eating here or getting take away if they are book. Fantastic food and service, love everything I have tried especially the lamb cutlets..... Yum
