Ordered chicken namban for takeout, was quite nice. I liked the fact that the miso soup was also included in a small container. For $19, I’d definitely be trying out other combinations.
I’m always on the hunt for a good bento box and recently found a local one! Right next to Campsie station, this tiny Japanese restaurant was pushing out ramen, sushi, sashimi, you name it! The seats were full even on a Wednesday night! Ordered this Unagi (eel) bento with rice and miso soup for $22. I’ve ordered their bentos through Uber eats before and I haven’t regretted my decision since 😉.
There is a curious little Japanese restaurant above the Campsie Station called Ishiyama Japanese Dining. I was always interested in trying but if we were ever in Campsie, it was usually quite early in the morning and the restaurant wasn’t even opened yet. One day we were around Campsie a bit later in the afternoon, so I took the chance to try going to the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty small and heavily decorated with Japanese ornaments.
Whenever I am in Campsie, I would pop into Ishiyama for sushi.
Ordered the mix tempura ($11.80) and the salmon paradise platter ($48) The mix tempura was very oily and I didn't enjoy it so I wouldn't order it again. The salmon paradise is one of my favourites and it's worth the wait. It's decently priced for the amount of sushi you get and is big enough for 3-4 people. Salmon is always super fresh but service could be improved. This restaurant doesn't have a toilet available so you have to use the train station toilets which is a bit of an inconvenience.
We stumbled across this place while exploring and what a great find. Authentic Japanese food by a Japanese chef! This is now our favourite local Japanese without having to travel to the city. The restaurant itself is so cute, decked out in Japanese culture, very authentic looking. Regardless that the restaurant was small, it was still full that people had to wait for a table. The food was delicious and we definitely will be returning!
Never dine in before. Only order through Uber twice. Their food portion are always generous. I order lunch set, with unagi & miso soup. The soup still hot upon delivered. They had once missed my "Coke" in the delivery. Overall, value for money.

My family and I come here all the time since it's opening, and it is fair to say that this is our favourite place to get Japanese that never disappoints! The menu has a great array of authentic items to choose from and is very well priced considering their serving size. My favourites from the menu are the Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box, and the Salmon Azuma Don. The ingredients are always fresh (especially their sashimi!!) The staff at Ishiyama are also very attentive and informative. The chef/owner Koji Ishiyama's passion really shines in the great quality food he delivers and the presentation of his restaurant.
Very nice authentic Japanese, one of my favorite local gems, good prices, generous servings, staff service needs to improve though as they need to be more welcoming and friendly. I would really recommend the wagyu udon 👌🏼👌🏼
Very nice atmosphere, and great service. I had sushi and the presentation was lovely on a long wooden palette. I went with my baby and they even gave her some icecream. Would go here again.
Great food, pretty consistent. It's a shame that the same waiter who always serves us doesn't know how to crack a smile or care to inform us if the ramen will be coming out 40mins later and well after the other meal on the table. Hiring someone who looks like he wants to be there would make it a more pleasant experience.
I am always wowed by the decor in Ishiyama, and I daresay it acts as a perfect complement to the food you'll get - a big dollop of Japanese style with a large offering of authentic Japanese eats! I would definitely recommend dropping by and trying out the chicken katsu curry - guaranteed it'll have you leaving while feeling a great deal more warm and fuzzy than when you first came in. Everything about Ishiyama and its food is good vibes and good eats, what more could you want?

Great food! They have lunch specials from $10, though not very filling, it tastes great. Sushi is quite good as well. Very convenient being next to the train station.
First time at this restaurant and it did not disappoint.the manager is very informative and helped us with some menu choices. Fresh sushi, sashimi
and very tasty popcorn prawns! Will be back.

Been to this restaurant trice. Nice ambience, awesome service, fresh and delicious Jap food. Fried stuff yum. I would certainly recommend the daily special sets if you are unsure about what to order.
Occasionally you come across places that are quite inconspicuous but turn out to be unique and out of the ordinary. If you are in the area, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
A nice, efficient little Japanese place. They served the seared sushi on a plate so wide it was touching my neighbor's elbow. Campsie is my new food project and so far it's been a success.

I love it when I find a local suburban joint which serves great authentic cuisine, with reasonable prices at a a good quality and has decent serving sizes. Ishiyama is one of these places. Located just above the train station in Campsie, Ishiyama is a relatively new Japanese restaurant serving great tasting Japanese food. They have an extensive menu covering the range of udons, curries, sushi, sashimi and other bento boxes. The restaurant itself is quite small, probably only seating around 20 people, so if you have a big group, I suggest going early. The decor is is reminiscent of a back alley izakaya in Tokyo. The staff is friendly, service quick and they have some sort of loyalty card system where after 10 visits you get $10 off your next bill. We arrived at lunch time so it wasn't too hard to get a seat. At lunch they have a special lunchtime menu where certain meals are discounted and they also have some daily specials where you can get a dish free with your purchase e.g. free seaweed salad on Wednesdays etc. Ginger pork bento box- $14 - This bento box also came with some a small bowl of miso soup. As you can seen in the photo, there are a number of compartments to this box. Starting from the top, the main dish is the ginger pork. Thin slices of pork fried with a hint of ginger and a smattering of vegetables. To the right is a small garden salad followed by some tempura options including 1 x prawn and 1 x pumpkin slice among others. Down the bottom is the egg and mashed potato and also some jellyfish which you might be able to just make out. The 2 balls in the middle are not takoyaki as I originally thought, but balls of fried potato - similar texture to takoyaki and just as delicious. Kaarage chicken rice and mini curry udon meal - $10 - This is a dead-set bargain of a meal. Chunks of succulent deep fried chicken with that tantalising (Kewpie maybe?) mayo drizzled on top. It's so cute how they put it on this wooden stand thing but the tables are quite small so it actually does become a nuisance.
I haven't been to Campsie in forever so I wasn't even sure of what restaurants were around but we stumbled across this pretty authentic little japanese place. I love the decorations. Interior It's so empty because we basically walked in at 5:30 which I think is pretty early for dinner for most people. Spicy Tuna and Avocado Roll Chicken Curry Udon I didn't expect it to be such a big bowl. It was actually my first time having curry udon and I must say I'm definitely having that again, it was so good. Assorted Nigiri Perhaps my favourite dish of the night. The seared scallops were so good. Spicy Softshell Crab Roll Decent but no wows here. Excellent hidden gem. Right near Campsie. You'd expect to find quality in the city not hidden in Campsie. Quality and well priced. Lovely decor and polite staff.i had the salmon bento box. All flavours and textures were yuummm. Included rice and soup under $15. Will return for sure.
Recently visited Ishiyama and was surprised how good the food is. The dishes served in decent sized bowls, plates and boards but quite expensive compared to Manmaruya across the road. If you’re a hungry person like me bento plus half a eel donburi will set you back just under $50. The food is cooked deliciously and well presented especially the assorted sashimi sushi served on a long wooden board looks like something to share on the table but pricey to eat by yourself. The restaurant is tiny and narrow but can easily seat about 50 people. The restaurant ordering system uses touch screen technology which makes ordering a breeze.

Ordered delivery from here last night. Chicken karage bento and Kimchi with pork bento. Alot of side dishes including a few pieces of Salmon sashimi, potato salad, radishes, cabbage salad, 4 pieces of tempura 1 of them is prawn. Generous amount of main and rice. The karage is not crunchy but still tasty. The sauce from the Kimchi with pork was yum.
All I've heard are good things about Ishiyama. It lived up to what I heard - being both affordable and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended! They have a large selection of dishes, making it so hard to choose from all the tasty options.
The sashimi tasted fresh and was well presented. The ramen was quite filling and the roasted chashu (pork) was the best park about it. The smoky flavour from the chashu just completed the dish for me.
I had ramen and my friend had a lunch Bento. Food was spectacular (as always) and it was very inexpensive.
Service is via touchscreen which is a bit unusual but works well once you have an account set up
