Review Tipsy Bull - Canberra

Perfect customer service. Waiters knowledgeable, friendly and approachable but not overbearing, a fine art. Food was delicious and everything was beautifully presented. Even tailored the courses and how they brought out the dishes based on what we ordered. Felt like dining from a set menu there was so much thought behind which dish to bring next. The extensive gin menu was a delight to explore and the waiter was helpful in tailoring ones choice. Would definitely return again and again. A must visit.

A little gin bar that is an absolute delight. Such a wonderful idea and a great place for gin. With over 230 gins to choose from it was an such a wild time to selected which gin to drink. Every gin is served with its own botanicals and a tonic that is tailored to your gin selection. Of course dinner has been amazing. Staff were very helpful and delivered great service. Really happy with dinner and food. Highly recommended for everyone to visit. Such a wonderful venue.

Never been to a Gin bar but blew my mind. Any flavor under the sun.....Every sip was different Everytime!!!! One tweak after another was like a mad chemist experience. Something for every palette. The food was all very good and well plated. Will now be seeking these out wherever I am in the world.

This place has become a favourite! Staff are lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. Always up for a chat to discuss the largest range of Gins I think in Canberra!!! The GnT paddles are such fun and you cannot leave without trying multiple. Food is fabulous, tons off options for dietary requirements. If your looking for a catch up, meeting friends or a gathering this is the place for you.

A rare gem of a place. Brilliant service standards, from the moment you walk in they make you feel , they love having you there. Then the drinks arrive and it's brilliant. The choices of cocktails are just an experience on it's own. The food menu is well designed and served in the perfect order. I would drive again soon from Sydney just to enjoy this place.

Turned up to Tipsy Bull absolutely blind. I had no idea what it was or what it was we were eating. All l knew was it was a set meal for the 7 of us. I should start by telling you it is in a part of Canberra with a zillion restaurants and bars, which makes the fact l got a parking spot directly outside the Tipsy Bull a miracle. The Tipsy Bull has one of the most comprehensive Gin collections l have ever seen. I chose one of my Favourite Archie Rose Gins and was not disappointed. I cannot recall a fixed menu of such high calibre since...l don't know when. Without spending paragraphs describing how good each course was, suffice to say everything was amazing!!! Now was thus the cheapest in meal l will eat this year? Not by a long shot...but the quality of the food and the service were both first rate. The service was attentive eithout bring intrusive which is what you want. Savour it as a special night out and you would not be disappointed. For Seven of us it was a shade under $900 for food and drinks and it was worth every cent. An outstanding experience worth the cost. Highly Recommended.

If I could give 7.3 stars I would! Unbelievable service from the get go, the manager even sat down and talked us through our gin section! Great accessibility for a wheel chair users and quality amenities! Keep up the good work legends and keep setting the bar high!

The Tipsy Bull was much more than I expected! We had the Chefs Tasting Menu and nothing was disappointing! Topped it off with their amazing skills with gin! Definitely a place to put on your list when in Canberra.

My 4th visit to this amazing place last night and it just keeps getting better! Awesome and fun staff- Matty(Foxy) excels at matching the gins to your tastes and is very helpful with all components of the menu. The tuna with avocado and a tapioca and squid ink cracker was AMAZING as was the entire meal and experience. I can’t recommend this place enough to everyone I know and it is definitely my first choice for dinner out in Braddon!!

This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in recent times. All the food was absolutely delicious and the drinks list is spectacular. But the service was a real highlight - our waiter was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable of both the food and drink menus. I'll definitely be back!

I don't usually write reviews, but I thought this one was worth a mention. Stop past Tipsy Bull as part of a Pub Crawl on the weekend. I've had a few from various stops previously and needed to slow down since I was driving later. Went to the bar and ordered a soft drink. Don't know if the barman was thinking I was a designated driver and felt sorry for me or other pub crawlers ordered lots. But he didn't charge me for the soft drink (even though the glass was completely filled with ice with a little bit of soft drink, it was the thought that counted). Great service and nice atmosphere would definitely go back and recommend to friends.

I travel around the country and eat from restaurants most days and this is one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Was very surprised with the explosion of flavours in each plate I experienced and the cocktails and service was great. Matt out table attendant was super informative with the drinks and food menu. Will be back here next time I’m in town for sure. Great food, great food and great experience

Excellent food and great service. Our server selected my gin perfectly. Highly recommend the chef selection platters.

We accidentally stumbled upon the Tipsy Bull on our recent travels through Canberra city. The whole experience was an absolute treasure and it’s with great pleasure that we highly recommend the innovation, flavour appreciation and staff who went above and beyond to serve and inspire us. Going to Canberra? Love GIN? You must put this on your ‘to-do’ list.

I absolutely love the food and the service is always lovely! I come in regularly and the staff are always so accommodating and all the cocktails and food are flawless! Big ups to Matthew for being one of the best waiters in Canberra having that sort of passion and knowledge is incredible!

Underground gin - with botanicals to be added in a flavour experiment - was a great way to appreciate how a proper G&T comes together. Toothfish was amazing, the emulsion really complemented the fish. Beetroot salad was a revelation - I finally get the point of witlof. The Spanish flan was a perfect finisher - along with a Feral Brewing F-15. Great food, knowledgeable, professional and friendly service and a great atmosphere. Will be coming back.

First time there. We will be back. Fantastic night out. Very friendly and helpful from the get go. The food was very flavoursome and value for money. To have the owner come himself and explain the best way to construct a gin and why was appreciated. Great atmosphere and nicely set out. Plenty of staff on deck to attend to all the patrons. Hats off to Mike our server. Thanks for a really enjoyable night.

Tipsy Bull is doing Canberra proud. You will not find a place that creates a gorgeous casual dining atmosphere that is accessible to all whilst providing service that is of the highest standard. The food was smashing and left me planning my next visit. My advice - do not be intimidated by the huge number of Gin’s available. Just speak to Joe and the staff about your taste buds and then sit back and enjoy the gin ceremony. It is good for your soul! Shout out to Jade and Matthew - the most gorgeous members of staff. Mel x

There is an amazing selection of about 140 different gins and lots of good quality alcohol. The food is delicious, especially the crumbed eggplant and the pork belly and the place has a lovely atmosphere.

Had another amazing night at Tipsy Bull last night, which isn’t really a surprise considering how great this joint is. The surprise is the new addition of the Bread and Butter doughnut dessert. Absolute stunner of a dessert, i wont ruin the description with my clumsy words, do yourself a favour and try it!

Stumbled upon it and absolutely loved our evening. 3 adventurous diners, one fussy and we all found something we loved. Shared plates of stunning food, great cocktails and super wine list. Waiter Matt B topped off a lovely experience.

2 girlfriends and I popped in on Wednesday night to have dessert after having dinner elsewhere. We sat outside and it was the perfect dining experience. Food was high quality, yummy and our waiter was lovely! There are apparently two Matt’s however our ‘Matt’ had glasses. So a big shoutout to him (give him a raise!). No request was too big or small and he also acted as our personal photographer to get that perfect shot. I am already planning our next visit to Tipsy Bull. 🙌🏽

Just had the best feed. I don't like oysters but I try them slot and I think with the raspberry dressing on them was the best. Pork belly is always a favourite. Chorizo was great again and the lamb kebabs are to die for. Beer is also good

Very disappointing. We had a group booking organised weeks in advance, got there and had to wait 30mins to be seated at our table. Service was terrible. Lack of communication with the staff. Had to ask 3 different staff just to get a bottle of wine. We ordered share platters for 10 people, waited almost 2 hours and received hardly enough food for 7. Two ladies were coeliac, after eating food we were told was “gluten free” both were violently ill hours after ( including bride to be ) The food we did receive was good, however entire experience was terrible, we all left hungry and disappointed.

Thank you so much for the great food and exceptional service on Saturday night for my sisters hens night. We had the 8 course chef selection and we had more then enough food. It was both quality and quantity. Thanks again, Tiffany Welch

Pre COVID-19 I'd have raved about the food and gin, last week the food was underwhelming and over priced for what was on offer.

Set menu $80 pp

* Warm bread and ricotta - so what?!
* Salmon and avocado with prawn crackers - bland.
*Chicken breast nuggets (more or less) with appleslaw - soooo bland.
* Rare roast beef with mustard - is it 1986? Nothing to rave about.
* Potato chunks fried and served with a tomato sauce. Pub fare really.
* Creme Broulee. It was plain and uninteresting.

I'd expect a bit more for $80 pp.

When compared to Courgette or the Lanterne Rooms which both do similarly priced set menus, Tipsy Bull left much to be desired.

The gin was great... however we went for dinner...not for work drinks

The Gin bar you MUST try! With over 258 Gins in stock from across the world there is bound to be one you haven’t had.

Staff are personable and friendly, and make the experience with their knowledge of Gin. It’s is truly ginsperational. 🍸

Served as a gin degustation, you have to give it a crack! My new FAVOURITE gin hangout!

My best restaurant experience since moving to Canberra last month. Five stars for everything - food, service and decor. I had the risotto and the croquettes and the Moroccan pumpkin salad and they were all delicious. They have a good number of vegetarian dishes.
The gin menu is extensive, as others have noted.
I’ll definitely be back.

Great service, friendly staff, some really nice cocktails with gin brought in from all over the country. The food was also fantastic on the set menu, I especially loved the salmon ceviche.

If you are after playing 20 questions about Gin, this is the place. I don’t know anything about gin don’t think they offer coke either. Staff service was in-your-face. I understand they are trying to create a relaxing atmosphere but please don’t come into my personal space after 2 seconds or meeting each other.... staff’s knowledge of the menu is impressive, at times a show-off. Food nevertheless is excellent and service was great.

If you love gin then Tipsy Bull is the place for you! They have more than 150 gins on their drinks menu, including locally produced gin. The team at Tipsy Bull know their gin. The service I've experienced has always been fantastic and their food is really good. They have a range of small and large shared plates to choose from and are open from midday until they close.

Loves it! Decor Service was excellent and the food was great, the gin wow so unique and delish. I’ll be back to tick off all those delicious gin menu.

Our friend groups go to bar. Who doesnt love a good gin?! And they have them all. I love that they deconstruct the drink and let you do it yourself. They also have so many good cocktails! And not too overly priced. The espresso martini is the best I’ve had.

Had another amazing night at Tipsy Bull last night, which isn’t really a surprise considering how great this joint is. To top off what is a top notch restaurant full of friendly staff, fantastic food and drinks menu, comfortable venue, the new addition of the Bread and Butter doughnut dessert just pushed Tipsy Bull to the top of my Canberra recommendations list. Absolute stunner of a dessert, i wont ruin the description with my clumsy words, do yourself a favour and try it!

Bit disappointed, service was poor. Our waiter wasn't attentive and gave off a blunt and slightly arrogant vibe - when I ordered a gin and tonic he scoffed and asked which of the hundreds of gins on offer I wanted. The DIY G&T thing was fun, the food wasn't bad. The potato was good, the beet salad was okay and the breads were nice. Pricey for what it is. Not the best, definitely room for improvement.

An interesting experience if you love G&T's.

An extensive gin menu from Australian gin to Icelandic gin! Servers are ever willing to suggest gins based on your palate and what tonic to mix it with.

Good food options including yellow fin tuna and crispy eggplant

We had the Tasting Menu, wow super tasty food. Started with the Bread Roll, Kingfish Cerviche, Burratta, Wagyu Carpaccio , Lamb Cutlets, Spanish Salad, Pork Belly and Patatas Bravas. The staff were very attentive and very knowledgable. Could not fault Tipsy Bull. Will be back soon.

Disappointing and waste of money!

Whilst I will acknowledge that we had a completely separate menu from the normal one, it still reflects on the kitchen and management.

My partner and I went for a 6 course set menu Valentines Day dinner. It was all share plates with incredibly small servings. Half a bread roll the size of a person’s fist, two oysters, two scallops the size of 20c pieces, two over-cooked and very small lamb cutlets, and dessert was a chocolate parfait. We left hungry and disappointed.

I had been previously for dinner and drinks and we had a few share plates and it was good servings and decent prices. I’m definitely not going back after the rip-off we experienced, but if you do decide to go just stick to the gin.

Great food with truly unexpected flavours delivered by the most friendly staff. One of the top Gin bars in Australia IMHO. Do try the eggplant, oysters and tuna. Sensational

What a cool bar! Sitting outside in the garden with a gin and tonic in the sun, what a perfect afternoon. Massive gin menu (four pages!) plus a good mixture of beer, wine, cocktails. I chose a gin, which came deconstructed on a board with fruit, tonic water and ice. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable in the gins, service was quick. Rustic and comfy decor, big timber tables with plants and umbrellas. Fun experience and really comfy sitting in the sun with a gin. Very pricey - the gins don’t include tonic water, so they charge you another $3.50 for tonic water. This should be included considering the price of the gins are $10-$20.

Good environment and services. Their home brew beer was amazing and I am actually don't drink much beer. I enjoyed it very much.

The food was more like western with Thai fusion... the crispy eggplant and noodle soup were not very successful....
Anyways it's a nice place to dine in for weekends.
