Ordered three pieces of chicken and chips as a late lunch, loved it. Great food, great price, generous portion. Spice mix on the chips was delicious but a touch too salty. Fast, friendly service. I'd definitely recommend the place and it looks like they have some great weekly specials too
Easily the best burger joint in Canberra. Orgasmic burgers and chips, excellent service, great vibe. Never any hour-long waits for a burger, unlike a certain over-hyped Canberra burger shop which will not be named.
Great place to take the family for dinner.
Service was quick and easy.
Burgers & chips were awesome, would highly recommend.
Having coeliac disease, I always get a little anxious going to new places. Grease Monkey definitely didn’t disappoint. When I ordered my burger with gluten free bun, I was asked if I was intolerant or coeliac. They went on to tell me the relish and fries weren’t considered safe for me, and gave me a side of coleslaw instead. Always a good sign that they know what they’re doing. After eating, I feel great, and the food was amazing! Thank you for being so knowledgeable about the food and serving up amazingly tasty (and safe) treats!
Grease Monkey is my absolute burger joint. Their burgers are frickin delicious and I can’t get enough of the truffle Parmesan fries!
Oh that Dirty bird and Double deluxe burgers nom nom nom.. pity you only sell 'hipster horse piss', but the apple cider goes well with the burgers - cheers!
The burgers are to die for....the Crankshaft IPA was chilled just right and the atmosphere was amazing....loved it and will be back next time I'm in Canberra
We (four of us) had dinner here whilst on holiday from Queensland and it was excellent. The burgers are great and the $20 cocktail jugs (on Sundays) make for an even better night.
We had the beef burger. The beef patty was so good. And they had plenty of sauce on the burger.
The best gluten free pizza that I’ve had in Australia. The tomato sauce topping it was fabulous, way better than the standard pizza sauces and the gf base was brilliant. Very filling as well.
I love their fried snacks! Jalapeño poppers, mac and cheese bites, sweet potato chips, mozzarella sticks. Even better than the popular burgers.
Limited vegan options available here, but the vegan burger was well worth the visit!!
Using the Beyond Meat patty, the complementing flavours made this burger the real deal!
Great atmosphere and vibe for a burger and beer and also have a vegan pizza available too.
To reach that next level they really need to expand their vegan options.
Excellent beef burgers and chicken burgers, I recommend the loaded cheese fries too! Friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere, great range of drinks at the bar. You can either dine in or take-away.
In the top tier of burger places in Canberra. It is equal with the likes of Brod and beef and barley. Greasy burger is damn good. It is a bit expensive and can be a hassle to get a good seat here but thems the breaks. If you have the time and cash, it's worth the splurg.
Great atmosphere and good beer.
Yummy burgers. Chips were well seasoned but could have spent longer in the deep fryer. All up I think the food, while good, was a bit overpriced ($11 would be a fairer cost for the greaseys burger and fries) - but that's Canberra for you.
From the get go, the service was top notch. These guys are really friendly and warm. They were kind to accommodate us and I'm really happy with the whole culture out here.
The burgers are good sized with a lot of fries on the side. What stole the show was the fried chicken- the best I've ever had. and their summer ale was nice too. Good job guys.
Do yourself a favour and head to Grease Monkey for fantastic fried chicken and burgers. Grungy atmosphere combined with fast service and tasty food.
Friendly staff, large eating area but not inside. Burgers are great, juice and tasty in good quality. Will definitely go again! I reckon need to try different one next time.
Great everytime I go! Truffle Mac and cheese bites are delicious. Fish burger is excellent. Great vibes in the restaurant, and fast service.
Service was impressive. There wasn’t enough seating for my little family so we were seated next door at the fish and chips joint. We were pleased - my little one could run around and wasn’t overwhelmed by the loud music.
We ordered
🍔Grease burger- a little small but DELICIOUS
🐔Fried chicken- crispy and tasty
🍗6 pcs of chicken- moist and crunchy ( best fried chicken I’ve had )
🥃 lemon lime and bitters- perfectly well balanced drink.
All in all YUMMMMM
Great American style burgers and milkshakes, it’s the new trend it seems every town has a hipster burger joint. Best one in Canberra so far. Give it a go!
I came here to eat with my friend’s parents that happen to be visiting. The food is quite good and filling and I would come back here to eat again.
Just like the #canberramarathon was my toughest one to date, this was my most gluttonous burger yet.
The “Triple Deluxe” from @greasemonkeycanberra - a triple cheeseburger (with bacon) sandwiched inside *TWO* mac + cheese patties. This needs to be ordered 24hrs in advance, but what a creation. It was so messy that I couldn’t even pick it all up in one go! But it definitely scratched that itch when it comes to devouring a deliciously “greasy” burger. 👌🏻

Sensational venue with absolutely first rate fried chicken and superb range of craft beers. No tables available when The Dear Luncher was present so the chicken was consumed shamelessly at the bar. A must visit destination in the capital. The fried chicken was crispy and flavoursome, not dry beneath the skin. The accompanying slaw was the ideal partner in crime for the chicken.
Super busy place so better come early! They are famous for their burgers, so we went for it.
It was what we expected! Greasy, juicy patties and super satisfying. I loved the full service, it has everything! The chips are well seasoned and crunchy.
The fried chicken is alright. Their own lager is very delicious! Make sure you try that!!
We were very happy!
I love a good jooci burger and Grease Monkey really hit the spot. Would recommend to anyone in Canberra, wish they had one in Syd 😫 cannot fault anything about this place, chips were also poppin, covered in some spicy seasoning 🌶 🔥
If you want to take it to the next level then you should also try their mac and cheese bites 👉🏻👌🏻💦
Burgers are delicious here. Chips are seasoned pretty well. Decent price. SUPER quick with service of the food. Would not mind coming back again.
Recommended by a few of our friends, food was definitely worth the $$! Chilled out atmosphere with good laid back tunes. Great idea with the paper towels readily available in your table reminds you of good ol Los angles burger joints, the burgers were packed and the chicken wings sauce was definitely something you’d go back for! Staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks heaps grease monkey, we’ll be coming back there soon!
Loved the food and atmosphere! Definitely one of the best burgers I've had, all the ingredients were fresh and full of flavour. The seasoning on the chips was great too. I left feeling full but not overdone, portion size was great for a hungry person after a day exploring Canberra!

Grease Monkey is one of those places everybody in Canberra wants you to go while you are there. This place was recommended to me by atleast 3 friends and I am glad they did.
Went in late-ish on a Wednesday night and was surprised by the crowd. I tried the veggie burger (nimbin) and it was great! Additionally, most places tend to serve ordinary fries with their food. However, the fries served with my burger at Grease Monkeys were absolutely delicious too! Perfectly cooked, no sogginess and extremely flavorful.
Burgers were great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Music was a little loud for the crowd that was present kids and families but it was Friday night. Overall a great place!
This is a funky bar with multiple areas and decent staff and a good beer selection. The burgers are ok, decent patties but not good enough to cook less than well-done, weak and tasteless buns, sauces and so on are barely there, and high prices but you get ok chips with a $15 burger.
We love grease monkey! Burgers and side are so yummy- some of our favourite in Canberra. The jalapeño poppers and fried chicken are a must! Atmosphere is great for casual dining before going out.
Didn't expect Grease Monkey to be what it was - seriously cool. A super chill vibe, friendly staff and great food. We cured the Sunday blues by coming on a frosty Sunday night. The seating outside is warm enough (due to adequate heating) and there's plenty of room. I've never been big on my burgers - but these were awesome. Special mention to the bun, which was tasty, soft and not messy chaos to eat. Burgers come with chips, nice ones too! We ordered several cocktails and I was pleasantly surprised at their quality. 10 dollar cocktails on a Sunday is a hit, with the Glen Co-Co being a great option on a cold Canberra night. Why have a hot chocolate when you can have a hot alcoholic chocolate?! We'll be back Grease Monkey!
After our walk at mt Ainslie, we felt like rewarding ourselves. Since Grease Monkey has a free drink offer that comes with every burger purchase, we headed there. I had 'The Greasy' while my friend ordered 'The Single File'. Really enjoyed these babies! The bun was soft (just how I like it because I hate dry tough buns), moist patty, yummy 'greasy sauce' and massive serving of fries! I had the Batlow cloudy cider to wash everything down. I personally didn't enjoy the fried chicken. If you have been to Belle's fried chicken in Melbourne, you would not like Grease Monkey's fried chicken. But their burgers taste good! I would definitely go back for them.
those burgers and chips were yum! and love the atmosphere in that place. A good venue for some food and drinks with a bunch of your friends on a Friday night!
A good range of burgers. I opted for one of the vego options (the Nimbin), and it was really great. Soft bun, great filling and flavour. Also ordered the mac and cheese bites and my god, I could eat them everyday. Boyfriend had the classic 'Greasy' and loved it, in addition to his sweet tater fries. Jalapeño poppers are also great. Atmosphere is lovely, bar was great (during happy hour), service was sufficient and food was one of the best American I've had. On the pricey side but absolutely worth it in my opinion.
As much as I wish I tried their burgers which looked good, my husband and I came here for some drinks in the bar before dinner.
Nice vibe and very comfortable sitting in one of the booths for a few drinks. Friendly service as well!
Called in here on recommendation from a friend whilst on a recent trip to Canberra.
The burgers were great. The atmosphere was good but not really my kind of restaurant.
However, the price of drinks was a joke. I think $12 for a schooner of cider was pretty steep for this kind of venue.
Delicious burgers and fries here. I bought the house burger and added bacon and was absolutely impressed with the ingredient to ben ratio. Their bun is a sweet and soft bun and the meat was cooked perfectly pink.
I also tried the fried chicken the following night and whilst tasty, it was a bit KFC original. Some spice and extra crunch on the batter would take it from good to excellent.
Also bought a dessert (cheesecake) the first night and it was deliciously smooth.
Service was also great as they demonstrated they were prepared to resolve a small oversight the first night.
Definitely check them out!
We stopped by here for some drinks, then some food to takeaway. Great atmosphere, very chill & relax, the bartender & staffs were friendly. My lychee mojito was massive, but mostly full of ice, so got watery before I could finish it. The food were a bit hit & miss, my fried chickens were crispy & juicy, not bad. The chips were ok, but the coleslaw was terrible, drenched in a spicy mayo, it was impossible to eat. My friend's got burgers & they all enjoyed them. So overall worth a visit.
I'm not a fan of burgers, however my friends chose to go here. I ordered the Wanda, a hoki fish burger with cheese, lettuce and tartare. I absolutely loved it, it was EASILY the best burger I've ever had. The reason I don't like burgers is that they always make me feel ill because they're so heavy, but not this. the bun was incredibly light, the fish perfectly crispy without being oily and it was just delicious I want to go back now!!! The only reason I'm not giving a rating of 5, we had a cocktail jug and honestly could not taste any alcohol in it. But I could not fault the food.
It's food is in the name!!
Great selection of beers and a good variety of burgers and food to appeal to everyone (minus vego's and vegans).
Really good service despite how busy it was for lunch. Food was great as always.
Appreciate it.
Fantastic food & terrific service. I had read a couple of negative reviews & really was concerned we might be let down. Couldn't be further from the truth.
The burgers were sensational, the fried chicken was magnificent. Even my fussy kids have the fried chicken a big thumbs up.
Out of 4 adults & 4 kids it was a unanimous winner.
The service was quick & super friendly.
Highly recommend!!
Pretty decent burgers (pineapple in a burger is divine). Fried chicken is great. Great atmosphere to chill out. Awesome hospitality. Would recommend to friends.
Dirty Bird chicken Burger was very succulent, along with the lettuce and tomato. The chips could have been crispier, but were thick cut (I'm not a fan of this trend for thin fries) and very well seasoned.
Although we were there realtively early there seemed to be a real mix of customers, ranging from bucks parties to groups with large numbers of small children. Great range of craft beer on tap at the bar.
I love this place! The burgers are quite simple but sometimes that's all you want/need, especially when they're so damn tasty! The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere inside and out, it's easy to understand why it's always packed. We have never made a booking but always been lucky enough to get a table. This is the perfect place for a few beers and a burger with the mates. The menu as I said is quite simple but all of the options are so tasty. I've eaten my way through about 4 different burgers and haven't been disappointed with any. The burgers come served with a side of fries and you can order additional sides. My favourite burger so far would have to be the 'Dirty Bird' a Fried chicken burger! At $17 with a side of fries i'd say it's very good value for money. All the staff are really friendly and it makes this burger joint stand out from the rest. I'm sure i'll be back shortly to continue eating my weight in burgers!
Not much to say except that the burgers are excellent! They beef patties are always juicy and pink. The buns are slightly crispy on the insides. The tomato relish and GM sauce just make the burgers finger-lickin' good. The chips are crispy and sprinkled with an interesting mixture of powdered spices. I wasn't crazy about the taste at first, but came to like it later on. Highly recommended for those looking for a great tasting, albeit greasy, burger. However, the expensive fried chicken is too salty for my taste. Oh yes, come here on Tuesdays as you get your drink (milkshakes included) for free!
Good honest burgers, I had the pulled pork which could have been hotter, jalapeño poppers too hot for my friend and too cheesy for me. Solid choice of wine and beer. Will be back.
On Tuesday Grease Monkey do a burger and beer combo. We stopped by after work to check it out. The place was packed and we can understand why. The burgers are super tasty, generous in size and really affordable. We got the original greasy burger - hands down the closest thing you're going to get to Shake Shack in Canberra. Definitly worth checking out.
Absolutely delicious! Best pulled pork burger I have ever had. One of the best gluten free buns I've ever had also. My only criticism? That you're not in Melbourne!!!
Best fried chicken in Canberra so far!! The chicken is deliciously spiced and very juicy. It's always a must when coming here. The burgers are also pretty fantastic! My recommendation: the Nimbin. I'm a huge meat-eater but their best burger is the mushroom burger. The Greasy and Dirty Bird is a favorite from my peers but I'm not fully convinced. Also, I highly recommend taking advantage of Tight ass chewsday! Burger and beer (or alternative drink) for $15. Great deal! Great place to gorge!
Nice atmosphere and well themed. The food came with a decent serving of seasoned chips and lived up to its reputation and name, being delicious and well made, and with just the perfect amount of greasiness.
Good, moist and tasty burgers if you get the regular burger. The brioche buns were nice and fresh. Chips were good too but could do with more seasoning. The burgers with bacon were dripping with fat which wasn't nice! Can take kids there and best to sit outdoors but you can only consume alcohol indoors...so hmm?
Pros
- good value
- good atmosphere
- good burgers
Cons
- chips were slightly on the burnt side.
- service staff could've been happier
- took a while to get served (but visited on good Friday)
Overall
- Pleasant experience. The quality of the burgers made up for the wait. Will be visiting again.
Their Grease burger is the bomb.. Get their greasy sauce to dip your chips. Yummy and friendly service. Oh dont forget to try their yummy fried chicken too, its sah good!
Great burger offerings with all the trimmings as to be expected on an American Themed establishment. Unfortunately can get a bit too crowded for my tastes, but definitely something to be tried when in the Braddon side of town. The few times I've been shows how popular it is as it is always busy.
I frequent this place because it's my favourite burger place. The first time I went the man who served me behind the bar wasn't friendly but every other time I have been (over 5 times) the service has been great and friendly and the food is always amazing! Who doesn't like a good burger and a nice selection of beer! It's a must if you have never been!
Amazing Burgers! So good we went back the next day for another. Service is fantastic and so friendly, the price was perfect for what u got and the food was to die for
If you’re looking for a place to feast on a delicious burger with a beer or four Grease Monkey in Braddon is where you’ll find it. I love everything about Grease Monkey! The food, the atmosphere, the staff and the selection of beer on tap. Plus they have a ‘Tightass Chewsday’ deal that will give you a burger, fries and any beer on tap for $15. They also have fried chicken, a few sides on the menu and a burger of the month. I looove the truffle mac n cheese bites.
I don't do it.... I never do it!!! But I have to 5/5 straight to the top of my best burger in Aus list!!! I had the greasy on my first visit absolutely awesome I couldn't stop bragging but I became curious was the full service like so next day grease monkey again and a absolute winner!!!! This burger is hands down the best I have had, perfect proportion of meat Salad, bacon & egg.... Bun is amazingly soft and like a baked cloud and take this $15 on Tuesday with fries and a beer!!! The bar like atmosphere was very pub like and full of quirky bits and pieces and the sign out the front could not be further from the truth "burger that will make you lose your ah#t" You are my favourite grease monkey King of burgers in Australia!!
I ordered the pork and apple cider burger and this definitely did not disappoint. Service was a little aloof, waiters could seriously use a smile more often. 😃
I was thoroughly blown away by the chips. Evenly coated seasoning on perfectly crisp chips. If you're someone who likes your chips on the crispier side, this place is a definite gem.
The bun was good, but it wasn't the best. Probably cause mine was toasted a tad too long, the base was ever so slightly hard. But other than that, generous portions of pulled pork and slaw for $15? I'd say yes any time.

Pork and apple cider slaw burger was excellent. Crispy fries cooked to perfection. Murray's beer on tap. A Canberra treasure in the Braddon foodie district.
A little pricey but it delivers on its promise of greasy, delicious burgers, chicken, fries and treats. Drinks menu is good too. The service and ambience is ace.

To celebrate this week of Christmas, I’m celebrating my favourite foodie thing – burgers! Welcome to #burgerweek! I adore Grease Monkey. I really do. When my friend came to visit from Adelaide I took her straight from the airport to Braddon for a solid Canberra burger experience. On my quest to try all of their burgers, I picked the Pitt Stop ($15), stacked full of BBQ pork brisket and apple cider coleslaw and spiced up with
We really liked the burgers here, Steve had a beef burger while I had "Dirty Bird" chicken burger (yuuuum!!), and we both really liked it, especially the buns- soft but crunchy! Chips were delicious as well, spicy though! :) Friendly staff!!!
Great tasting burgers, good beer and quick service surrounded by the hipster vibe of Braddon. Come and eat and drink here. I had my two boys with me (5 & 17 months) and it was easy to get them in and fed.
So back again about 18 months later and everything is the same in the best way possible. A great place to eat.

Hands down one of the best places I've eaten. Had the pulled pork and just was divine. Highly recommend to anyone and I'll be going back as soon as I'm back in Canberra.
Grease monkey provided good old fashioned burgers, don't let the names of the different stacks trick you - these are traditional burgers, fresh from the grill and oozing calories! Great burgers for canberra and a good live music environment - worth dropping by for a bite or two!
Got the Pit Stop and was pleasantly surprised that the burger came with delicious chips! Burger was delicious, chips amazing and the staff is charming as well. Top rating for this one.
Lonsdale street in Braddon, once dominated by car yards and mechanics, is now flooded with hipsters and new eateries. Owned by veteran restauranteur, Socrates Kochinos (who also owns Belluci’s, Cream, Public, Urban Pantry, Me and Mrs Jones, and the Academy nightclub) Grease Monkey pays tribute to the mechanical workshop that came before it. The burgers have names like “Full Service” and “Pitt Stop”. The breakfasts are cleverly called “Jump start” and “Automatic”.
Wow has Braddon gone hipster!
The burgers at Grease Monkey sound basic, but are very well thought-out and quite reasonably priced. And they taste good! But the chips were a disappointment, being soggy and covered with what tasted like season-all.
The staff were friendly, but not having an alcohol license for outside was a let down.
Another one of my favourite discoveries while in Canberra for work has been GREASE MONKEY; greasy gooey burgers, fried chicken, greasy breakfasts, a licensed bar, milkshakes and wicked desserts all in one awesome venue that has some tongue-in-cheek design. You can’t ask for much more than that. I had read some negative reviews for the place that came out just after it opened but it had been going for a few months longer when I decided to give it a shot. Tucked away in Braddon, ACT I think it is about 10min out of the city and it is right near the MANDALAY BUS I wrote about last week.
Tucked away in corner at Braddon is a pub, chicken/chip shop and a burger joint all rolled into one. Great burgers, decent prices and friendly staff. Can't get much better than that. The ice cream sandwich with salted caramel is a must try.
I’ve been eyeing out Grease Monkey for a while now, every since I first saw construction begin on the corner of Lonsdale Street and Elourea Street in Braddon, I’ve been wondering what awesome new eatery would join the diverse, extensive and hispter restaurants, cafes and eateries already available throughout Braddon. Wow, I’ve started a lot of posts with that recently haven’t I? Well, Braddon has had a lot of construction and I guess I just have a very simple thought process. Of course, after the construction finished, the waiting game started. But as of last Friday, Grease Monkey opened up for service for the first time and to my absolute joy, Grease Monkey focuses on one of the finest haute cuisines in the world, American food!
Picking a favourite between Broadburger and Grease Monkey is a very difficult task but I have to say I think the monkey might just get it. Juicy and very flavoursome beef 'grease' burger, great chips and also the option of deep fried chicken or pulled pork. Excellent selection of beer as well, they just need to get licensing to drink outside for the summer. Can't wait to go back!
Another week and another Braddon eatery opening! The latest addition to the Braddon precinct is Grease Monkey with ‘burgers you’ll go apesh*t over‘. Grease Monkey is an American burger joint and bar offering 6 types of burgers (with complimentary chips), greasy fried chicken, milkshakes and dessert. There are also 2 breakfast options (with bottomless tea and coffee) available from 7am Monday to Fridays (surprised it’s not available on weekends). With the entrance on Lonsdale Street, I first see the bright red gate leading into the beer garden with ‘Beware of Monkey’ signage. The beer garden has quote a lot of seating with a mix of picnic benches and bistro-style dining on faux grass. There are heaters installed above and PVC blinds to keep the warmth in. Each table is equipped with paper towels, ketchup and mustard. Cheeky monkey wall art puts a smile on everyone’s faces. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take photos of the inside of Grease Monkey but it looked very retro-cool with the bar made of timber and metal cladding, and bar seats along the front window (inside and outside) combined with some modern touches of burger wall art depicting each layer in Grease Monkey’s burgers. We ordered some drinks – the Lemmy organic lemonade and the Karma organic cola (both $5 each). I was tempted by the Double Deluxe burger but I knew I wouldn’t finish it as I wanted some dessert later on. Instead, I ordered the more Aussie style Full Service ($17) filled with a beef pattie, bacon, egg, cheese, pineapple, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, onion and GM (Grease Monkey) ketchup. This was one very tall burger (though small in width) with all of those ingredients crammed in. The soft milk bun is extremely light, like a heavenly puffy cloud that’s been glazed on top and sprinkled with sesame seeds. I appreciated the thick beef pattie that had been smothered in melted cheese. The pattie was very meaty, something I could really sink my teeth into, but had no herbs mixed in (not that that’s a bad thing and the other ingredients made up for this). The bacon was a bit soft and flimsier than I’d like (I prefer crispier bacon). The thick slice of pineapple added a sweet juicy factor to the burger. I couldn’t actually eat this burger with my hands as it was just too big to take a bite out of, so I used a knife and fork to assist. The chips were delicious and not your plain chips sprinkled with salt. These chips were seasoned with a few different spices like paprika to make them stand out on their own, and not just as a side dish. Best of all, chips are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The chips here remind me of Urban Bean‘s amazing chips with similar spices, but Urban Bean still wins hands down for the best chips. Though I was impressed with the serving size and all of the ingredients were cooked fabulously, I can’t help thinking that the Brodburger wins in the burger stakes (bigger in size and greasier). Perhaps it’s the aioli that I love and is missing from the Full Service. Either way, with all of those ingredients, this burger meal should fill most and will leave you satisfied. A friend ordered the Dirty Bird ($15) with Southern fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and Greasy’s sauce. She loved it and I was happy with the size of that piece of chicken. Another friend who is vegetarian ordered the only vegetarian meal on the menu, which was the Nimbin ($15) consisting of crumbed portobello mushroom, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and Greasy’s sauce. She enjoyed her burger too and I was impressed with the crumbing action around that mushroom. Bringing back old-school dessert with a modern twist, the three of us shared the ice cream sandwich ($7) with salted caramel. I actually thought the salted caramel was a scoop of ice cream when it first came out as it looked so full and scoop-like. But no, it was a very thick and rich salted caramel. The ice cream sandwich itself had vanilla ice cream in the middle of a soft chocolate sandwich. I thought this was a light dessert with a very generous scoop of lusciously thick pure salted caramel. You could go to town eating the salted caramel but I enjoyed small portions of it with the ice cream sandwich. Yum. Orders are taken and paid for at the bar where a table number is provided. Alcoholic drinks can only be had inside at this point in time as there is no liquor license for the outdoor beer garden just yet. Prices for burgers with chips are on par with Brodburger, and desserts are reasonably priced at $7. Gluten free buns are available for an extra $1.50. It was relatively loud inside but quiet outside (for the moment). Although I did enjoy my burger, I felt like something was missing. You know how you bite into a burger that you know is so bad for you but you want to devour it anyway? I didn’t really have that reaction with the Full Service. Nevertheless, I’m keen to try the fried chicken and some of the other burgers. Service was friendly and there were a few staff hovering around to collect our empty plates. One of us received cutlery with our burger, while the other two had to ask for cutlery so I’m not sure if we’re meant to collect our own cutlery or if it’s part of table service. But they are probably still trying to figure this out themselves as the eatery has only been open a couple of weeks.
The words ‘Grease Monkey’ are on everyone’s lips at the moment – and judging by the number of Instagram posts about them, so is the taste of their delicious burgers. If you haven’t heard, Grease Monkey is the newest Braddon hotspot (at least until something new comes along), located on the corner of Lonsdale and Elouera Street. It’s the brainchild of Canberra hospitality stalwart Soc Kochinos, and its name, design and concept pay respect to the mechanics and wrench heads of Braddon’s past.
