We stopped in for lunch. It was amazing. I had the chicken massaman curry off the specials menu- it was spicy and so tasty. My preschooler had the kids burger meal and was entranced by his caramel shake. My husband had the Korean fried chicken burger and raved about it.
We got some cronuts to take home with us which were also awesome.
Love love love the service! The wait staff are sensational! They are always bust but never treat you like you're an inconvenience. My favourite is the Lamb salad but everything is delicious. It's fun to watch the busyness of the kitchen... they are a finely tunes machine. Just a nice place to breakfast/brunch/lunch.
Everything we had was delicious! The staff are great and service was spot on. Lots of options for dietary restricted people. I was very impressed with their gluten free menu. This gem will remain high on my list of favourite restaurants!
The gluten free options and the staff were all wonderful with dairy free options as well! Can't recommend this place highly enough!
WOW, spectacular, the hot chocolate was delicious although it could of been a little hotter. Hubby said the coffee was really nice. My breakie was devine the Pancake but too much for me to finish. Hubby had the minor breakie & that was a great size. We brought some desserts & biscuits to take home. One of the best places we have had breakie at
Did high tea at Space Kitchen and it was amazing!!! The savoury food was delicious and the desserts were yummy! Me and my housemate couldn't finish it off we were so full! But we were able to take our leftovers home. Staff were super friendly - made a great first impression. Will definitely be back :)
I really enjoy going to Space Kitchen - every visit is a treat! The food is great, with delicious combinations of flavours that never disappoint. The cakes and desserts are out of this world!
The best breakfast I have had in a long time compliments to all the chefs and all the staff were so friendly and a big thanks to Cam Deeble and Mikey Carey, I highly recommend Space for a fantastic experience.
I go everyday for the best hot chocolate in Woden. Add a peanut butter butterbing and you're in heaven!
Its expensive compared to the local competition but so is private first class cabin on a plane. You get what you pay for and I'm not complaining.
The food was amazing. It's a very pleasant place to dine in. The serviced was good. My family and I had a lovely time dining in. And the deserts was yummy and delectable. Overall the place is amazing. The only problem is the parking. It's very hard to find a parking space especially with people with disability like me. That's the only problem
They made Unicorn waffles for my daughter even though we had missed the breakfast cut off....winner winner!!
My Wife and I have had breakfast here for the last 4 days,, Staff Service was excellent.
What a terrific place! Excellent quality food and efficient friendly service. Well done. We'll be back many times for sure.
I took my son and daughter to the Space Kitchen to celebrate my sons 10th birthday. Unicorn waffles were amazing. Staff were friendly... cakes in the buffet looked out of this world ... we will definitely go back with the rest of the family another day.
I normally go here quite often with family and friends. I recently organised a work breakfast for 15 people and again the Space Kitchen did not disappoint. The staff were so helpful in taking our orders and being very patient with us as we were such a big group. Great food, great coffee, great atmosphere- thank you so much!
Great fast service and food with lots of gluten free options
great breakfast options. super stylish interiors. good coffee. It's a winner
Sooo delish was very pleased with the professional service and the food is great and artistic to
Great food, delightful treats, and friendly staff. Many GF options.
Fabulous food that was beautifully presented. The cakes are an art form but also taste delicious. Will definitely be back.
As a Queensland visitor .. I was just loving the ambience and then the food came .. Yummo! I had more than 20 friends love my choice of affagato coffee !
Service was speedy, food was amazing (Space Benedict particularly great) and the space is beautiful. Looking forward to going back to try the dinner menu.
Yum! I could drink litres of Oreo mint milkshake and eat every sweet!
Had breakfast with friends there. We all loved it. Every choice a winner. Awesome service.
I was hoping to try the breakfast menu but we had a busy morning! I was so happy that the lunch menu doesn't disappoint!!! The lamb sandwich was the bomb! Flavourful pulled lamb with caramelised onion and a yoghurt sauce. The chicken sanga was also nice but lambs better! My friend had the North African cous cous salad with chicken and that was delish. The sauce was a sort of mild sweet curry ish flavour? So good. Had food envy.
I was in a rush. Food came out quickly considering the place was packed.
Currently sitting in my car, eating the fritters and didn’t get far through before I wanted to share how incredible this food is. It’s rare for me to say. This is the perfect brekky!! Coffee is awesome too. Love it. I will be back for sure!!
Tasty food, quick service. Good for a casual catch up as it’s in a business area so lots of meetings going on at the tables around us. Beetroot hummus and dukkah were innovative and delicious additions to your traditional breakfast fritters. Also, amazing looking cakes on display, I didn’t eat any so I can’t vouch for their taste, but they did look incredible.
Decided to drive out here after reading other positive reviews and we weren't disappointed. We loved the creatively designed cakes here. Had lunch too and the meals were impressive. Would definitely come back here.
Space Kitchen is a must stop in Canberra. It is a sister restaurant to another local named Riccardos - but I prefer Space Kitchen because of its ambiance and vibe. It is located within a business area so it is busy at peak times, particularly for takeaway coffee.
The food is really good here. One of my friends went all out with a unicorn waffle. I have been here a few times and even if you just get the toast with butter and jam - it is real value for money.
You can't not eat here when visiting. And a dessert is a must! The gaytime mousse chocolate coated dessert went down a treat...which i took on the road and ate a few hours later in Gundagai.
We love Space Kitchen! We have been many times. The coffee is good. To be honest we go for the cakes. They are gorgeous, decadent, fun, adventurous and most importantly delicious. The "Im a Tart" is so subtle in its flavour but blissful. Lavender and lemon curd......I was transported to Venus!
The cafe has a lovely ambiance and is always busy... a good sign!
We hardly ever said let's come back to this cafe. So it is a good sing!. We were able to get a sit straight away even though it was very busy. It was a bit pricey although it is worth it. Staff are friendly and efficient. The fritters and the minor service were well presented and delicious. We did not have the chance to try the desserts. They look amazing and a lot of people seemed to come for desserts to this cafe.
If this is what food is like in space, sign me up for a trip to Mars! This was the first time I'd heard about Space Kitchen, let alone visited, and it was well worth the trip! The smashed avo was like no other smashed avo I have tried. The addition of the cauliflower cous cous was fantastic and perfect for those looking for a healthy start to the day. The pavlova pancakes also looked divine and I'm told they tasted it too.
While you're waiting for your food (which wasn't long at all) the dessert cabinet holds some absolute masterpieces 😍 Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Canberra!

New menu for winter.. always get excited with this cafe. This is red velvet waffle so yum with sour and sweet flavour and combine well with matcha ice cream.. also the soft shell crab burger is really good accompany for the waffle..
ToFeedTwo became ToFeedFour at what is a trendy & warm cafe in the business district of Phillip. Staff friendly - no table service but ordering at the counter is much easier 😃
Breakfast: Breakfast Fritters were really nice; perhaps not the best fritters we have experienced, as they were a bit dry but still lovely! Pork Benedict was good; eggs perfectly poached and pork was flavoursome but served on an ice cream stick - quirky/odd touch. Serving size for this was probably a little small, left feeling a little hungry. Finally, the Apple Pie pancake was very nice but very sweet. Overall, really good but all could have been done slightly better... a little more/a little less kinda thang!!
You'll be hard pressed to find a better dessert in the major cities, let alone CBR. Wow, wow, wow - beautiful and impeccable in presentation and indulgent in taste. 'I'm a Tart' - (lavender-custard lemon-curd) & 'Peach Melba' (peach-custard & berry filling with white choc) were both simply outstanding.
The food is awesome. The coffee is awful. Completely recommend the pancakes, zucchini fritters, and pretty much anything else on the menu. Service is good, though don't be afraid to speak up. Mistakes are fixed quickly if pointed out.
The food is not cheap, but was well made and delicious. Staff are friendly and easy going. Love it! Will definitely return for more brunches with friends.
I was surprised by the amazing flavours that this place dished out. The serving is staff provide excellent recommendations. Although it gets busy during lunch (not sure if they are open for dinner) it's worth the hustle.

Having only spent 1 day travelling in Canberra, this was a flawless choice of cafe. For lunch I had the mediterrainean pulled lamb. No issues there 👌
The stand out was the coffee and desert. 5/5. They make the sweetest of hot drinks as I discovered with my salted caramel hot chocolate. For dessert, they have the most intricate and extensive range of options imagineable! I opted for the 'cookie monster', which was like a burger. Macarons as the bun, whilst a fluffy oreo moose in the centre. Amazing.
If you're in Canberra, and are after a drink and something sweet, look no further.
The same dishes often look very different the next time I order them and this time the Space Bendict $18.90 was just so pretty!. The Corn Fritters $19.90 are still a great choice…. …and the Fruit Toast $6.90 is excellent for something very light. But the Hotcakes $17.90 went past…and wow, are they dramatic now, dark with contrasting white shards of chocolate…amazing! Something for next time…lunch even!
If you're going to Space Kitchen our recommendation is to check out the Space Benedict and the Hotcakes - we ordered them and left very satisfied. Both are really colourful, nicely presented and best of all, flavourful. Space Kitchen also do great coffee and a range of fabulous sweets and pastries. Our pick is the jam donut. Simple, but delicious.
First up - quick service. Very important for a working week breakfast spot. Coffee on par with Canberra offerings. Menu is beautifuly presented and we'll designed. Nicely constructed meals arrive hot and quick. Atmosphere is plenty (resisting using a space pun) Will come again.
But the favourites are still there including the Breakfast Fritters which are as good as ever $19.90. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Very nice food and beautiful present. Great service and very good value for money. Staff are friendly. Will definitely return to this place again.

My quest to try all of the Ricardo’s/Space cakes continued at a friend’s baby shower held at Space. Everyone else ordered lunch – I ordered cake. I’ve had my eye on the Cookie Monster ($9.90) for a while now, and this was clearly the moment. Now, I must advise you of two exciting facts about this cake (apart from the fact that it is both blue and named after the Sesame Street character, which you will have gathered already). One, it is large. Like, you may doubt your ability to eat it yourself, large. But wait… Two, it is light! Hooray, you can enjoy it all to yourself. The giant macaron top cracks open to reveal a half-mousse half-sponge filling, dotted with Oreos. Mmm. Oreos. The texture is quite unusual, but definitely in a good way – everything is
Had an amazing breakfast here one morning recently - the polenta waffles. Everything about the plate was just spot on, and it was plenty filling too. Coffee was also good. Cake display looked amazing! Wish I had room for that! I was slightly confused about how to order, or whether there was table service etc when i walked in, so some signage or guidance would help with that. But other than that, a beautiful dining space with great breakfast options.
The food here has always been very consistent. The atmosphere is lively and the coffee is good. The service can be improved though with better attention to detail. I'm not a fan of counter service especially at a nice new cafe like space. There aren't many good cafes on the southside so this place is worth visiting.
Deep in the heart of business Woden is a new stylish cafe, bringing well-constructed food and inventive desserts to the expendable income of the workers in the area. It's a welcome addition considering the extremely limited quality eating options around Woden (previously limited to food courts, Kingsley's and that now defunct foodvan). Set in a modern building and frequented by mums with prams, business suits and the odd group of stragglers seeking out something new (like myself), it's a pleasant atmosphere and easily to people watch through the high glass walls and the queues waiting for coffee and eyeing desserts.
Really yummy food, nice fitout, and access to more ricardos goodies!
I had the hotcakes which were fluffy and tasty (but a bit small). I liked the curd they were served with and the coconut mascarpone, but found the crumble a bit sweet and the raspberry meringue things were pretty inedible.
The juices are well priced but the orange/pear mix was watery and a little bland. Maybe some lemon or mint for zing.
Service is good. Will definitely be back
Who would have thought you can get great coffee and service in Phillip on a Saturday afternoon? But you can. And one of the best ranges of cakes that are THE benchmark for work events.
But, when we returned for breakfast, mixed result. Smoothies are great and the fritters. But the pancakes are a little too thick and dense, and the mueslie needs more yoghurt.
But we expect this will become our go too place for Sunday breakfasts when they start opening on Sunday.
Space Kitchen opened several months ago, and I've been itching to get down to Canberra to try it after seeing all the amazing dishes on social media. The cafe is housed in the mammoth Skypark building. The venue itself is light filled, spacious and industrial. It's a casual cafe, with a order at the counter system which works well.
When Space opened on 8 October 2015, it was Fine Eating’s most popular post for the year. Woden CBD had been longing for a new eatery – stylish, creative, exciting!. . Space is all that and so much more. Each dish is both a work of art, and full of surprising but wonderful flavours and textures – both beautiful and delicious!
Hands down one of the most impressive restaurants to come out of the Canberra food scene. It lives to its name by raising the standard of Cafe dining to extraterrestrial levels, innovating and creating new flavours and dishes which I've never seen before. The atmosphere is buzzing, service is excellent and presentation is on par with other fine dining places. The Space Benedict was an impressive dish that takes the eater on a journey of new tastes, from the beetroot sauce to the alien looking pork crackling and a range of other seemingly bizarre additions that all come together to deliver a complex masterpiece. I strongly urge everybody in Canberra to visit space kitchen!
Space has only been open two months, but it’s the best thing that’s happened for Woden CBD dining for years. Every dish is a winner. You just can’t go wrong. This however, makes choosing very difficult. Whether to go for one of the all day breakfast dishes, like the Polenta Waffles with lemon thyme sautéed mushrooms, goat’s cheese poached eggs, corn purée, salsa verde and the truffle oil that is added at the table with great flair and fun! $18.90…
Amazing food for breakfast - and lunch it turns out. Mine a pulled pork with Beetroot hollandaise was very pretty....but not that tasty, my companion had the fritters which were the winner of the day.
...and you can have dessert: this one a raspberry globe atop tangy lemon curd wrapped in a chocolate biscuit crust. Dessert might become a breakfast mandatory. @spacekitchen
I'd normally think twice.about giving full marks to anything, but Space ticked all the boxes, some of them 3 times. We had to wait for a table, all of about 2 minutes.
Staff were fantastically friendly, helpful and well presented. But the thing was the food. Prices the same as any cafe serving serious breakfasts, only of a fine dining quality. The vanilla shake was good, very cold but let me tell you about the Polenta Waffles.
2 polenta waffles with 4 kinds of mushrooms, popcorn, corn purée, 2 poached eggs, goats' cheese and orgasmic salsa verde, served with explanation and a mist of truffle oil sprayed on by the waiter making the meal look like some find of fantasy. The only change I would make is one more waffle to eat with the corn purée, salsa verde and runny eggs, as none of those things are substantial enough to stay on the fork, and you won't want to leave any of them behind. Less than $20, and filling.
Just ate the chicken and peach salad and wow. Flavour explosion. The perfect amount of chilli to get the taste buds tingling, thinly sliced peach, cucumber and fennel. Coriander explosion with some mint to balance the herbage out. Chicken was moist and the dressing cut through really well. Just a tad too much dressing (with extra on the side if you want to drown it) serving size small ish
but enough. I'd definitely come back.
Space in Woden is the hottest spot for lunch and it’s hard to go past it for dishes that look like works of art and combine flavours and textures in exciting ways. So it’s excellent that already Ricardo has introduced some more new dishes to try. The menu this week features two new salads that are both very beautiful to look at and include ingredients that complement each other well.
There’s many more flavours including an excellent Turkish Delight (purple) and Redskin (red). $3 each. The coffee is also excellent!. One thought on “Space, Woden – the desserts have arrived!”. Pingback: Space, Woden- amazing breakfast dishes all day! | fineeating. Leave a Reply Cancel reply
One of the great things about Space, the newest restaurant in Woden CBD, that opened last week, is that it serves it’s lovely breakfast menu all day. Inspired by Her Canberra’s post, to try the Space Benedict $17.90 – the pulled pork croquette is just so delicious, goes well with the poached egg and the beetroot hollandaise is wonderful. The pork cracking brioche crumble is lovely flavour and texture contrast.
Space opens today on the ground level of the Sky Carpark on the corner of Furzer Street and Worgan Street. It’s the brand new venture of Richardo who is legendary for his desserts and pastries at Ricardo’s Cafe in Jamieson. It’s a real win for Woden CBD. An upmarket restaurant with a creative and interesting menu that has Ricardo’s touch everywhere.
I’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of Ricardo’s Cafe’s second venture in Woden that has been kept heavily under wraps. Ricardo’s Cafe in Jamison offers a fantastic and tempting range of cakes and cronuts so I couldn’t wait to see what the new concept cafe would be offering. Ricardo’s revealed the name of its new cafe, Space Kitchen, via its social media the day before its soft launch.
Space Kitchen: An Out-of-this-World Experience!
After dazzling over the house-made pastry counter that features such unique creations as the Mouse Trap, Psychedelic Mushroom and an assortment of "bombs" ... The cakes, the cookies and macaroons ...
You'll want to radio back to Houston about this cosmic contact, too!!!
I was greeted with broad smiles and a happy hello by the counter staff. I had previewed the menu and was excited to try the Space Green Eggs & Ham - a fun twist on eggs Benedict - with focaccia bread, sautéed baby spinach, sweet potato crispies, ham, poached eggs, and GREEN hollandaise sauce!
It was after 2pm and breakfast service concludes at noon, however the server checked with the kitchen and it was made possible for me! I had an orange juice and a cappuccino that was delivered to my table before I could remove my coat!
I was seated across from the open kitchen and could see how hard everyone works. All of the staff is incredibly professional and they stay busy. I'd love to get a sneak peek at how these desserts are made! They are truly incredible!
Another table ordered the "Bomb" - a super-fun twist on Black Forrest cake with chocolate brownie, cherry gel, vanilla cremè and chocolate mousse ... And it's served with a live sparkler! The presentation of everything here is superb!
They offer a hearty menu, a positive vibe, and spectacular service. I highly recommend visiting Space Kitchen for a stellar experience!
Big smiles from staff when we walked in which I love! Food is super good and was so easy to order off the online QR code. Came Out very quickly and as always we were amazed by their cakes and got 2 takeaway.
Excellent service, very friendly staffs always seems running here and there in hurry 😊.The food is very good and coffee is excellent as well.
We been there for couple of times now and it’s been always the same excellent quality.
I would rate 5 out of 5
Table service was exceptional from the nice guy working on Thursday morning who was extremely quick to have us seated for our booking and served us water without initial request which was great! Very attentive
4 stars because hot chocolate was requested to be extra hot from the online system and arrived at warm-ish to room temperature. French toast was burnt which ruined the taste.
Everything else was great, and I’ve been here 3 times before, and I give 5 stars for every other time. Just some slight improvements could be done this time. I’ll be back though! Love this café!
Great service and amazing food. I highly recommend their Japanese Style poke bowl and Moroccan lamb salad. The lightly sweetened "real chai" was very good with loads of cinnamon flavour. Would visit again.
Space kitchen does decent food, often with many fusion options - there were some Mexican, Vietnamese and Japanese flavours on the menu. They also have a dessert cabinet filled with colourful and creative desserts, similar to Ricardo’s. The best thing is that you can order and pay straight from your phone using the QR code.
Amazing and beautiful meal — had the avo toast with sweet potato purée, then shared two desserts :) it’s was so tasty! Ordering is super straight forward through the QR code. Will be back whenever in Canberra
