Without a doubt the best coffee and cafe food in canberra. The staff are so friendly and always happy to help with any requests. The food is delicious and caters to people who are vegan and gluten free. The music selection is fantastic and creates a vibe that makes you want to come back every day. Can't recommend this place enough 😊
Honestly the best place to go to for a catchup, study, breakfast anything, the place is great and staff are so friendly and easy going. Breakfast was amazing and have never had such good soy coffee ever. Loved it
I was visiting Canberra from Sydney this past long weekend and went with a Canberra local yesterday on the public holiday for breakfast. It was listed on a review list as one of the best coffee places in Australia. I was very pleased. The coffee was smooth and warm enough without asking, lately i have had many coffees elsewhere that are nearly stone cold. I had the apple/cinnamon waffles and they were amazing, My friend had the pumpkin/eggs waffle special and she was also very pleased.
This place awesome! Atmosphere is great, food is tasty and imaginative and the coffee is smooth and delicious. The staff are really friendly and attentive to boot!
Good service. Good food. And good ambience. Got the #fit breakfast bowl with a coffee. Cost ~$20 the bowl is a mixture of Indian style chickpeas with a salsa type salad
Ol ye faithful, oh yeah. Please, if you havent tried it, you must. Im from Adelaide and was in Canberra for a business trip. Pialligo bacon and super soft bun, yum!!!
Good place for lunch. Choices of coffee, tea and juices for beverages and all-day breakfast and sandwiches for food.
I had a refreshing raspberry tea. The chicken bae sandwich was good with grilled chicken with Asian salad/dressing. Sourdough with avocado was my friend's healthy lunch choice
Taste: we had Saturday lunch here; I had a Buddah bowl and added grilled chicken with it, (+$) also requested for more dressing that was heavenly and gives the dish a good creamy finish. The soy milk dressing is definitely the winner ingredient of this dish that ties all the flavours together from the saltiness of the seasoned green beans, kale and Moroccan cous cous to the butteriness of the butternut squash to the slight bitterness of the slaw with a tinge of lemon zing to it. It’s a dish we definitely enjoy and keep going back for.
My partner had the ‘Ol Faithful’ the potato bun was nice and sweet but I think the fillings was a little too salty because of the mixture of Swiss cheese and bacon... the spicy tomato jam helped cut the richness of the cheese and bacon perhaps a little bit more would have made it less salty? The James brown sauce was also a nice addition to the savouriness of the bun.. maybe a little bit of lettuce could also cut down the saltiness of the burger in itself, but in all, very very flavourful burger!
Look: very aesthetically pleasing dishes served!
Service: outstanding ! Staff are friendly and very accommodating, prompt and helpful.
Ambience/crowd: ambience was warm very well lit, and pretty chilled vibe
Location: a bit hard to find if you’re not from around town, but accessible to a big car park
Price/value for money: for average of about $15 a dish, definitely worth every cent :)
Thanks for having us, coffee lab! Would definitely bring some friends over to try your buddah bowl!
Quite pleasantly surprised. Great service, very good coffee, presentation was also beautiful. Staff really willing to swap around ingredients and salmon was perfect. Well seasoned. Price was moderate, do recommend however.
Great coffee, maybe the best strong flat white I've had in Canberra. Food is good too - had the no regrets breakfast and it was true to its word
Beautiful pastries and excellent coffee! Being from Melbourne i find it hard to find a good coffee in Canberra but this place certainly lives up to Melbourne standards. Great service too. 😊
Coffee Lab is a straight up 5. This is hands down the best cafe I have ever eatenat. Every visit to Canberra I come here. The service is always excellent and very friendly. The food is excellent, the coffee is next level. I seriously cannot flaw a single thing. No matter if its busy or quiet its the same everytime. Baristas that know coffee and the 'no regrets' breakfast is the only thing you should order on your first visit. Seriously 3.5 on Zomato. Its a 5 all day everyday. No photo from me cause I dont wanna wait to hook in!
Good vibe here and I like the trendy menu but it's really quite limited when you boil it down. Got the lemon ricotta hot cake which was ok but a bit heavy and dry. The shake was yummy (corn flakes on top surprisingly worked well) - sweet but not too sweet. Prices on the high side for what you get. Table service is good but it's a long wait at the counter and super disorganised. I'd go again.
It's a good place to start you Sunday and go straight shopping. Located in Canberra Centre and good vibe, decorations. I Lov all about Avo and ordered it. It's yum but seem to not fill me. Anyway, I'll back to try more.
New to Canberra, we stumbled on to this wonderful cafe. We really enjoyed the latte and hot chocolate drinks and the food was really delicious as well. Looking forward to coming back for more!
Craving French toast or even a French toast burger? Say no more because Coffee Lab have the best ones going around. Covered in melted Nutella, berries and nuts what more could you want?
Great cold brew and cronuts too.
Only had coffee but it was delicious. Super cute setting and friendly wait staff, which always makes me happy. A nice spot to chill and read a book :)
This is a pretty nice place in Canberra. Came here with my wife today for breakfast when visiting Canberra and was not disappointed.
The staff was very friendly, smiling all the time and very attentive! Kudos for that! The menu offered a great variety of original and unique food, salty and sweet, light and heavy. We opted for Lil Italy, which is the cafe's version of Brushetta, a vegetarian dish. (As myself and my wife are trying to be more Kilojoul-aware) and it was very good!
I did not order any meat, so I did not ask if the cafe offers Halal food, but I doubt it.
On the flip side, I like my coffee hot but mine came barely warm and not really hot. Also, we were not told about the different coffee sizes when we first ordered and we ended up getting the small ones, which seemed to be smaller than what we're used to.
Also, expect to wait for a while to be seated (we waited more than 15 minutes) and expect sharing a big table with othet people. (We did not find this a problem, but some people do).
All that said, the good food and the hospital reception will definitely make us come back here next time we revisit the capital.
We had heard many good reports about Coffee Lab and it took us a long time to get there. When we did, we were not disappointed. There are a few vegan options listed on the menu. The almond soaked chia and oats (vegan version) is topped with a yummy strawberry sauce and lots of blueberries, but is not overly sweet. The "First Frost" (vegan version) is basically sauteed mushrooms on toast, but it tastes better than it sounds and the serving size is very generous. If you want, you can order a vegan avocado on toast. Highly recommended.
One of the most decadent starts to the morning I’ve ever had, coupled with fantastic coffee make Coffee Lab a sugar fire winner. If I’m going to be waking up to Canberra, I’ll be having my brunch dammit. For part two of a stay in the state for work my friends dragged me over to the offerings from Coffee Lab, which had a Nutella donut French toast on the menu. This was a serious affair. To put things in perspective, all three of us ordered the Nutella donut French toast. Coffees here were great and whet our appetites for when the glorious plate of sugar would finally arrive onto our tables and into our tummys.
This was the first cafe my wife and I came to after moving to Canberra and we absolutely loved it! The staff are so friendly, they even went out of their way to write up a list of the best places to visit in Canberra for us. You don't need to make a booking but with limited seating you might have to wait, but you won't be waiting for long. Inside has a really nice feel, it's quite industrial softened with the Greenery and lighting. I really like the menu, the options are different and very tasty, they have some pretty funny names for some of the food to. It is also very affordable with some cheaper options available. The coffee is always on point and they have a few different blends to choose from. Â We have paid a few visits to The Coffee Lab since first moving over and there will definitely be more to come.
Enjoyed the steak sandwich, highly recommended. Tender steak with lovely flavours, and excellent portion size
Vibrant ambience and nice setting. Good coffee and friendly staff!
Found this place via Google, while looking for a good coffee spot in Canberra on a Sunday. While we only intended to stop in for coffees, we spotted the French toast ($16.50) on another customers table & decided to grab this dish to share as well. The coffee was great & French toast one of the best in taste & presentation. Highly reccomend to visit this place!
On our visit we ordered the Oats Overboard and the French Donut. It doesn’t take long for the meals to arrive. The Oats Overboard is a mix of chia and oats soaked in almond milk, and served with strawberry puree as well as fresh berries and passionfruit yoghurt. The oat mix has a great consistency—not sloppy or dry, just the right amount of moisture. The thick yoghurt is flavoured with passionfruit giving it an intense tartness, while the fresh berries provide sweetness. Garnished with seeds and nuts, it’s a satisfying and reasonably healthy breakfast choice.Â
The second dish, the French Donut, is decidedly less healthy but equally delicious. Sandwiched between two slices of cinnamon donut flavoured French toast, is a Nutella and raspberry compote filling that oozes out the sides. The dish is decorated with hazelnuts, dehydrated raspberries and a spoonful of mascarpone. We’re not going to lie to you, this is a rich dish that more than satisfies our sweet tooth. Fortunately the mascarpone pairs perfectly and helps to lighten the sugary load. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as the belly, but one you should probably order sparingly.
A good place to relax after a day's work, or even energise before your day starts. Interesting decor; very rustic creating a lively atmosphere!
I was told that the Coffee Lab in Civic had started doing all day breakfast and since I pass by regularly, I had a peek at the menu. Prices are decent for the city ranging from $7-17. A few weeks ago, I met up with a friend for breakfast before work one weekday morning to check it out. This was during those really hot weeks in Canberra so I didn’t particularly want a hot drink. Our waitress mentioned they do cold drip coffees so I thought I would try that. The cold drip coffee arrived in a glass beaker with a glass filled with ice. I’m not used to having pure full strength coffee (I do like my mochas), so this was a bit strong to begin with. However, I found it was very smooth, easy to drink and left no bitter aftertaste.
Love the decor! Especially the vinyls propped up around the place like Eagles, Stevie Wonder, The Doors etc...Unfortunately the coffee tasted burnt like the toast. Staff were wonderful which made up for the coffee, food wasn't too spectacular. Definitely a nice spot to just chill out in town away from the main strips.
Loved this place. Unpretentious and the service is impeccable. Would definitely recommend
We were comparing it to cupping room as we went there the Morning before. I liked it because there's a smaller menu and being an indecisive person it was actually quite good. Additionally it's priced reasonably.
Glad we found this place as we've actually walked past it a couple of times not realizing.
Great place for coffee made by people who care. There is a choice of coffee blends - single origin, with social conscience etc and the service is fast and fun (with a sense of humour).
Amazing seasonal blend !. You can actually taste the fruit they say is in there. Amazing rolls we had toasted and the staff were great !
My new favourite coffee spot
Great Coffee and Cute Staff - what more do you need?. Great Coffee and Cute Staff at the latest coffee place to open in Canberra. It is a bit of a hideaway, but worth the hunt.
The latest coffee house to open in Canberra is Coffee Lab housing the capital's first steam punk machine to scientifically brew your coffee. This allows a barista to set the temperature, time and more as well as apply a brew made up by a barista on the other side of the world. Read more about the process in this Canberra Times article . Wooden furnishings are dominant with its detailing outside to its use at the front counter, on the walls and tables contrasting nicely with the grey stone and cement.  Wooden pallets hang from the ceiling as added decor. Two chalkboard signs up top indicate the types of milk based coffee and espresso used (that day?). There are lots of yummy pastries to choose from at the front counter but what caught my eye were the three different cronuts available ($4.50 each) - salted caramel, choc berry and one more that I've forgotten. I ordered a soy mocha ($4.50) and a choc berry cronut. The eftpos machine hadn't been set up yet so it was cash only that day. I w
