We went for our anniversary dinner last night and we were SO impressed. I read a few bad reviews and was almost put off- but so glad we went. The fried calamari was amazing, my steak was maybe slightly over cooked but was tender anyway. My partner loved his too. And the white chocolate creme brûlée was honestly to die for. The staff were so friendly and helpful. If we lived in the area we would be regulars!
Would definitely recommend!
Amazing, top quality service and food to die for. Entrée was some of the best seafood i have had in ACT, the steak was just WOW. This is my new go to place when in town.
Visitor to Canberra, have eaten at Marble and Grain the last three visits and will certainly continue whenever in town. Arancini balls are delicious and so is everything else we have tried. The hardest thing is deciding what to have. Only complaint I have is when ordering sides the waitress did not tell us the steak came with potatoes so ended up with a side we just could not eat, she then said oh yeh that's my fault I should have told you when you ordered them. Would definitely recommend to anyone though!!
I would love to thank everyone at Marble & Grain for making my son's communion lunch such a wonderful day.
The food was amazing as always, but what really made our day was the attention to detail, the wait staff were so attentive with all of us, they really did an amazing job.
I would recommend Marble & Grain to anyone who would just like a beautiful lunch or to celebrate a special occasion.
Thank you all again for making our day so special.
Enjoyed a wonderful meal on our first night in Canberra. Food was full of flavour and the lamb shank risotto devine. Brandon is to be commented for his excellent service. We will return.
We were visiting from interstate (3 from Hobart and 1 from Brisbane). Started with the Butchers Block and followed with the steak. Service was great and attentive but the steak was outstanding! All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Can't recommend highly enough.
By far one of the best chicken burgers I've ever had! Amazing fish also! The buffet breakfast in the morning got me excited to get out of bed! I honestly think your food is reason my boyfriend and I keep coming back to Canberra! Please franchise and open in Melbourne! Because of your logo we refer to you as "The Cow and Wine"
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food. Simply a fantastic place to eat, drink & be merry with friends & family, anytime of the year.
Awesome . Went last night had a great meal . Top service from the waiter couldn't fault the place. Good job .
Most amazing night. Great service and amazing meal sizes. A must go place for a great night
I’ve been there for brunch as well as dinner. The breakfast menu is elaborate and you could literally get anything that’s brekkie menu. Their steaks are amazing and I slurped until the last bit of jus was in my belly. I’d definitely recommend the Brunch and if you like your steak done perfectly. But don’t forget to make a reservation first !
Well executed steak ordered the mbs6+ orederd rare got medium rare not a big issue but the flavour was up there with mbs9 steaks I’ve had because this had a woody taste to it....potatoes that came with it were rather plain....7/10
Lemon tart was very good the pastry use was amazing compared to other places I’ve eaten tarts at 10/10
Salads were not to my taste one person enjoyed it rest of us didn’t 4/10
The steaks are amazing.Great ambience for a well earned meal and a good start to a night out.
Only reason i didn't give 5 stars is because they don't offer porterhouse, which is my favourite cut of steak and the service was a little slow.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
+4
Food 5⭐️ , ambience 5⭐️ , service 4⭐️
We walked in on Thursday night28th of September at 9:20 the waiter said we could only have bar food and drinks as they where fully booked, but the restaurant had a lot of empty seats. So we said not thanks I really wanted a good steak. So we left. We went to black fire which was our second option. My partner rang marble and grain and asked them if they could do a table for two they said yes if you can came in the next 5 mins. I looked at him and said no we already made a booking els where it was a bad start to this restaurant however please read the whole review!!!
I said to my partner I’ll take you to marble and grain tomorrow night for dinner because we both where craving steak. He said ok. So I called and booked a table for 3 people. We walked in at 8:05 pm on Friday 29th September. It was a little busy they waiter said table ready I’ll talk you over.
The waiter asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We said still please then he said any other drinks from our menu? I did yes please a Espresso martini and my partner will have a black Asahi
We then where looking at the menu for about 10 mins. The staff where. Little slow to come back to take our orders.
After about 25 mins they came to take our order. The waiter was very switched on when it came to the steaks because I wanted mine rare he recommended a different cut as the one I chose came with fat on it.
For our entree we order the pork belly. Then for another entree we ordered the Scallops
The scallops had a very Indian taste but was cooked to perfection .
The pork belly was the highlight of the entree!
For a main my partner had scotch fillet cooked medium. It was nice but not as good as my steak.
The waiter recommended I have the beef fillet. And boy was he correct I had it rare it was amazing! One of the best steaks I have had. Even my partner who don’t like rare loved it!!!
We also got a side of garlic greens
And a Greek salad. The greens where amazing the Greek salad was very vinegary.
My friend had the duck with wild rice and pumpkin purée. The steaks here are amazing!
I tried getting the waiters attention during the night because we wanted to add garlic butter to our steak but took a while to grab there attention but also they didn’t keep a eye on our drinks to see if we wanted more !
About a 15 minute walk from our hotel, and we had high expectations.
We weren’t disappointed at all.
Kicked off with Mojitos (even a watermelon flavoured one) which were amazing. I had the 6star marble score Wagyu steak which was so tender, probably the best Stark ever. My wife enjoyed the surf and turf with the Moreton bay bugs, she thoroughly enjoyed this dish.
Loses a star on pricing, however service and food was amazing.

My partner is super fussy and only eats chicken schnitzel and steak . She said the steak was amazing and she couldn't stop talking about how good the chips were
I've been meaning to try this restaurants for months, but finally did last week, albeit only for lunch. I got there just after 1.30, so it's past peak time. There were about three tables filled when I got there. The greet was friendly and I was given what was clearly the best table available. Kudos there. The ambience was serene and the seat was comfortable. I intentionally wanted to try the advertised $15 lunch menu so I did (Fish & Chips - no steaks for the deal). But I also wanted to try a starter (truffle & parmesan aroncini). The fish batter was really crispy, which I like. The chips were also crispy, which I crave for. The tartare sauce and the coleslaw were creamy and delicious. Very good indeed! The aroncini itself was served right off the fryer and the abundant parmesan used and garnished really helped bring the taste out. The aioli was a perfect combination. Overall, a bit more salt would make it perfect for my taste buds. I'd come back and try the dinner experience.
It’s a warm and cozy place in winter, with excellent and accommodating service and an inviting interior. The current specials are five including a good looking salad and a generous chicken schnitzel. Probably the best steak I have had in Canberra so far. I think the best thing for me was the bone marrow which comes with every steak dish ordered. I absolutely love bone marrow and I was thrilled with the huge bone marrow I got with my steak. They need to have a side dish meal just with bone marrow. Also had some sourdough bread and smoked butter to start which was delish. Good deco, large seating capacity (indoor + outdoor) and open plan kitchen.
Great place to catch up with friends. The bar area is open and conducive to a pre-dinner drink or two with a small range of boutique beers on tap and a decent wine list.
Our shared entree of arancini, empanadas and sourdough bread with smoked butter was generous, flavorsome and nicely presented. Main for myself was a well executed venison pie with mash and a side of savoy greens. The pie filling was superb and the venison tender as a slow braise should be. My only criticism is that I prefer the pastry top to be cooked on the pie not baked separately and placed on top. Also...the savoy greens were just a bit underdone so they had that bitterness that Brussels sprouts can have instead of the sweet nuttiness that develops when fully cooked. Apart from those minor issues it was a fine meal and I would return another time.
We were told that the servings were undersized for the price but that was certainly not our experience, leaving with full stomachs and a satisfied palate.
The after dinner coffee was very good and rounded a pleasant night of food, wine, good company and coffee.
Service was attentive and polite...perhaps a tiny bit wooden but certainly professional.
Prices were good if you stayed away from the steaks, which I think we're a tad over priced hence choosing from other options that were equally satisfying but easier on the pocket.
A good, civilised venue in the heart of the thriving Braddon food sector.
Stayed at the avenue the night before and decided to make use of the reduced breakfast rates.
Breakfast buffet for $19.95 was a good deal. There was all the usual hot food options and there was good juice of yogurts and juices as well.
Would definitely recommend.
Having only had the buffet breakfast here whilst staying at The Avenue Apartments we didn't have too much to rate it by however, even though we don't like buffets this one wasn't too bad and was actually quite nice with a great spread. Perhaps next time we're in Canberra we will have lunch or dinner here too and give it a proper review.
Pre-booked buffet breakfast at the Avenue reception gets you a $19.0 charge otherwise a walk in costs $26.0. Staff here are attentive and very welcoming, accommodating to every need. Especially coffee. With light flooding through the windows onto are warm and specious dining floor, it wasn't a bad place to be in the morning before the day began. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!
Nice atmosphere and fit out. Service is efficient and friendly. Menu has a good range for all tastes and food was very good. Prices very reasonable.
The standards of Canberra's restaurants have really improved over last few years and this is another Canberra restaurant which can compete with restaurant scene in Sydney and Melbourne.
The restaurant is spacious (great for large groups) with modern deco and open kitchen. The service was wonderful, courteous, prompt and polite.
We were there for lunch and the lunch dishes were all wonderfully well cooked and presented and value for money! $14 per person!
Will definitely return
Marble and Grain in Mort St, Braddon is well known for its meats and share dishes, but not so well known for its five great $14 lunch specials, available 12-2pm, 7 days!. While there’s plenty of spots close to the CBD offering good weekday lunch specials it’s rare to find one you can take advantage of on weekends!
And the meal we had gone there for, the steak. I didn’t try any so I can’t say how it tasted but Jarrod really enjoyed it and was glad he’d had the opportunity to have a ‘proper’ steak for his birthday dinner. Although it was 300g of meat he wished there had been even more because it was really well cooked and the mash was also perfect. He left the bone marrow behind though.
We really love the wajayu cooked there. The medium raw wajayu is juicy. One shortcoming is that its sauce is a little bit salty. And the chicken salad is so-so.
Good food. Awesome cocktails. Good service and comfortable atmosphere. The big platters are enough for 3-5people. Chocolate tart was the best of the 5 things we ordered.
Food was delicious, I think I would go as far as saying best steak I have eaten. Would have liked the option of a smaller steak though as it was too big for me. Staff were great. Music was a bit much for the restaurant side and was really more for the bar and that made it hard to talk.
