What a busy hotel! We waited only a short time for.our dinner in a full restaurant. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. The lemon thyme chicken special was amazing! We are visiting but if we lived here it would definitely be a regular!

Only just discovered this place but it has been around very long time. Known to everyone as the Kingo it's a very solid pub establishment a great informal place to catch up in a low stress environment. Does all the usual well. Obviously going to end up there again at some time on my next visit to Canberra.

Meal was excellent, beer prices way over the top. Go there if you don't mind paying up to $9.35 a schooner for regular beer , Melbourne Bitter on tap is excellent.

Great steaks in The Grill, but make sure you book a table on the weekend. Very warm with the gas fireplaces. 😊

Been to Marble and grain, Chargrill restaurant, Eaglehawk,Asambly, Civic,Old Canberra in.......,and so on. Best value for money. All other places are good, but herd it's reasonable price for a nice cut of meat.

Great Hotel, very busy, staff all lovely. Had the best steak for dinner that I've had for years, Great place , atmosphere and food. Totally recommend this pub.

Pretty good spot in the heart of Canberra. I tasted the half rack of ribs, which was quite generous, and included cabbage slaw and potato wedges with sour cream. I had the hot and spicy BBQ sauce option which to be honest I wouldn't have again, I think the plain BBQ would be a better idea. Still it was a tasty meal, and I was impressed at how I could order from the beer garden via my phone and they bought drinks and meals right to the table. I'd be happy to eat here again. Kids meal options were pretty good too, the kids enjoyed schnitzel and fish and chips.

Unfortunately we only ordered onion rings and chips mid afternoon to have with the beers and we intended to stay on until dinner.
The onion rings and chips took 30 mins to come out ( no one else there was eating in the bar) and they were cold. Pretty disappointed, so we went else where to eat and drink.
I'd go back again if I was just having a beer, but the simple food we ordered was pretty poor. 4 stars for venue. No stars for food.

We are from interstate and believe it we asked siri where best steak was in canberra. She said kingston hotel. Thanks iphone. One of the best steak we have ever had. Will definately be returning when we travel to canberra. Also great friendly staff as well

Best place for a private large family dinner! Couldn't recommend it more highly. We had a private birthday party with 20 adults and about as many kids- staff (especially Lucy & Sam from events team) were exceptional, the room was large and lovely, and the food was great. We will definitely be back!

Great location and the building itself is old and beautiful. Pokie machines are all blackjack games. Outside smoking area upstairs wasn't heated which seemed odd. The restaurant is only small so best to book ahead. They have self cooking facilities for your steaks, you have to cook it yourself there is no option to get it cooked for you. I have chicken snitzel was nice but the gravy wasn't that great. I enjoyed my time there.

I ordered soup and a rib eye medium rare. The steak and veggies were served while I was only part way through my soup so when I finally got to my steak everything was cold AND the steak was medium not close to medium rare!! Very disappointing that staff would do that. What are they thinking?

Absolutely disgusting! How they ask people to pay for such rubbish is beyond a joke! Have never tasted anything so bad as their beef wellington at nearly $40. Appalling!

Well done this afternoon. Whilst I was enjoying my second schooner, sitting at the table next to the coppers, I was informed that I have to vacate this table. The young bloke at 4.50pm to told me that the table had a regular booking 4.30pm and the 4.30 pm booking had arrived. Looking around I could not see any labels stating that. I said that this is a pub and I am going to finish my schooner. Moments later the young lady delivered to the table a reserve notice for 4.30pm.
I started drinking at the Kingston pub back in 1985 and like any other pub in Australia, first in first seated.
If I come back to the Kingston hotel, I will order drinks but I will be double checking to see if I can sit wherever I see a vacant table.
Would not be surprised if this review is taken down.
Walked away today after that second schooner.

This is a big pub with a number of bars. The restaurant serves good food. The staff all seem really pleasant and helpful. I have even been there for a special function and that went very well.

Went there on a really hot day. At first the coolness of the public bar was a welcome relief but we soon realised how dark and tired the room was. Luckily it was late in the afternoon so we decided to move to the dining room. Much better atmosphere. The streak was really good too. We'd go back for a meal but definitely will give the public bar a miss

No eftpos paying option for my beer. Sure I can use their ATM and pay for the privilege of getting my cash. If my coffee shop can allow me to pay for my $4 coffee with eftpos, then why can't i here. Plus the coke I ordered was a flat. Will not be returning and discouraging others from coming.
