I recently celebrated my 40th Birthday at the Civic Pub, Pool Room. Craig and his staff were wonderful. My guests raved about the food, absolutely delicious! Everyone had a ball playing pool (some had never played, others not in years) and the location was perfect. We had a great time. Huge thanks to Craig and Shelley for their ‘nothing was too much trouble’ attitude. We’ll be back!
Great service, really accommodating to large groups and dietary requirements. Good selection and drinks and a fairly standard pub style menu. Steaks were a favourite, I really liked the fish fillet and the vegies were super fresh - although was on the small side considering the price.
Great Steak, great staff, pub life !!! The staff were very friendly, good honest hungry food. Recommended! Little noisy but it is a pub. Very happy night.
Haven't been here long at all. But so far so good. I'm here with my work mates who are also my regular mates. Enjoying a cool glass of the old VB and enjoying every bloody drop. Everyone is on their phones at my table but so far so good. Lovely staff and the bouncer enjoys a good joke. Looking forward to my chicken avocado bacon burger. Just ordered it then. Music could be a bit louder and the customers could shut up a fair amount but so far so good. Would go here again if I was here again.
Great atmosphere particularly being Melbourne Cup evening, quick professional and friendly service. Food was just above what you would generally expect for pub fare. Would recommend.
Great pub with very efficient and helpful bar staff. This place has never failed to deliver on service or food and despite all the high-end restaurants in Canberra they still do the most consistent and best rare steak for the best price. Great and inviting pub atmoshpere.
The Civic, what a pleasant surprise to see the new digs. May have been done a while ago, but it hadn't been years since I had last visited. Love that they still have the old pub style atmosphere. Great place to hangout and watch sports whilst sinking a few of an arvo if this is your thing.
Relaxing place to go for lunch and a quick play in the pool at the back. Service was quick, although I was quite disappointed as I have ordered an American salad but didn't get the nuts in it as promised by the menu. Anyhow, it was still a good meal 😀
Today we went to Civic Pub for lunch. The beer and wine price is reasonable and great food. I like the chicken schnitzel serve with mushroom sauce, chips and salads. The others had salmon also serves with salads and sauce. It was all good.
Not a high class venue, but you can't go wrong with their $15 steak night. Tops value, and if it's warm you can enjoy it outdoors with a cold one.
Great place for after work drinks, nice menu with great food and also on Fridays and Saturdays the place to be and catch some fun. It is pretty much The standard.
Pretty good pub feed, good salad options and GREAT chips. Great wine choice and new (not that new) is really classy. Great area for viewing the raiders if not too over packed
Great service, delicious affordable meals. Went here with some friends for some wholesome pub fair and relaxed night out.
Very pleasantly surprised at the service and food, which were both amazing. We got a steak, parma, soup and chicken burger. All were amazing. They had sweet potato fries as an option which were delicious and different, good vegies, and a good selection of beers (though some more local ciders would be nice). Steaks and Parma cooked perfectly. Perhaps some more flavourful napoleton sauce in the parma? Two thumbs up!
The best thing was the service! The guy taking our food orders was really friendly, great with letting us know what was good, and for our friend with dietary requirements, bent over backwards to make her feel welcome and not any burden. Even whipped up some custom salad dressing! Didn’t get his name, but had a decent sized beard – top marks for service, really! Will be making this a regular.
Thank u ! sister coming in on a late flight needed food the guys welcomed us raced to the kitchen at nine pm and secured our ability to order (promise of a beer we hear ) good lamb shanks wouldnt go crazy but very happy !!
Lovely atmosphere and VERY generous meal portions. The staff were very nice and quick! The Pork ribs were honestly cooked to perfection, but way too much sauce applied which took away from the flavour of the meat. I cant wait to try a steak next time. We will go back.

I first phoned up to confirm that they could do a takeaway soup order and the staff member was polite and helpful, even went to check with the kitchen.
When I arrived I had a drink while I waited for my food. The staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming to all patrons.
This pub is very well run.
Terrific atmosphere and a lovely meal. Gorgeous little menu for dogs which can be seated outside - my kids would have loved a steak option on the kids menu though. Great location, really easy to get to from our Braddon Hotel, and easy QR code driven menu ordered from the table.
Great pub in the middle of Canberra with an dining area loud with parrots 🦜. Fun atmosphere, great service, great food and I loved my steak 🥩. We had a large group and you order from an online menu but the servers don’t get a name so it takes a while to figure out who gets the plates that come out. Better than all the other pubs we visited in Canberra.
Second time dining here and the food is awesome. I had the Steak, which was cooked to perfection and the pepper sauce was to die for. Others ordered the Chicken Schnitzel and Grilled Barramundi. All meals were awesome.
Last time I was at the Civic was 40yrs ago. My sister said why did I want to go to that dive! I said it's been done up sis! Enjoyed the food, the beer, the staff was great. All good value, no diving there!!!! Cheers!
I'm an outgoing of towner and been going for yours. It has a great vibe, good food and great service. The layout is old school, it feels organic and not fancy pants hanging plants organic, it's a pub so go and enjoy going to a pub.
