Review Briscola - Canberra

Delicious food served here and a great menu selection. They catered to our son really well too and staggered our food to help. Staff were amazing and the atmosphere in here was great. Indoor and outdoor seating available, and there was a queue when they opened up whilst we were there, which was only a good sign.

The young staff were on the ball friendly and efficient.I liked the fact that the poured from the bottle when I ordered wine by the glass. The Arancini was delicious and not at all stodgy like some Ive eaten. The Gnoochi was not so suceesful.I think someone was a bit heavy handed with the salt which spoilt the dish. Would I come back again next time Im in Canberra....sure would

Good selection of food and drinks. We had the bruschetta, ravioli, gnocchi, pizza, and barramundi and All tasted good. Staff were really friendly.

Intimate and great service. Gianni and his team are amazing. They even cooked a special meal for my dietary requirements off the menu. Food was beautiful. Atmosphere perfect. Great vibe for those who like a small and intimate restaurant to dine with close friends. 👌 the best.....

This place is fantastic, squeezed us in without a booking, which was very kind. The food is authentic italian food. Highly recommended booking in and coming here!

What a beautiful meal! The staff were under the pump, all tables booked & yet the staff were on the ball. The staff were very accommodating to amending meals. Food arrived beautifully presented & quite quickly. Will be returning soon! This time I will make sure I leave room for dessert.

Bought takeaway for the family, was shocked at its size for the money, ended up being nowhere near enough for us. The one size pizza should be clearly listed as small. They were flavourless & crispy thin. The pasta was a much better size, but was pure salt, not much else flavour wise. Well done to all at the restaurant, you got me/us good...never again. I'm off to get a proper feed now. Thanks

A cosy institution worth visiting for lunch or dinner. The wait staff are lovely (old school customer service) and the food is delicious - authentic Italian as only a family run business can deliver. Endorsed by the Italian Embassy no less! Excellent online booking service too. We were fortunate to score a last minute Friday night booking indoors on a rainy evening!

Had to wait over an hour for food. Noisy. Nice waiters but no complimentary waiting food. Pricey and not worth it.

Your typical overpriced Italian restaurant joint. Food is average but it is hard to make pasta and spaghetti exciting. Young staff members talking behind the bar about their difficult patrons that they had to deal with is slightly unprofessional.

Took 10 hungry basketballers here where they had a banquet for $35 a head. I was sceptical that they would be fed enough but they were given plenty of pasta and pizza to keep them happy. The adults ate dips and prosciutto pizza. Pizza was great, dips were fine. The four pastas came out in quickly but were only just ok. Gnocchi was way too rich and clearly not home made. Ravioli was too thick and subsequently too hard. Risotto had too much crunch. Spaghetti was ‘just ok’. If you’re walking past it looking for amazing eats, probably keep walking Brett Atley

The pizza was lovely and the risotto was good. Have been noticing this restaurant for a long time and it was ok but a little too pricy. Maybe next time with a friend to try other things.

Had a lovely $32 banquet lunch for nine. Plenty of pizza and pasta - all delicious. Great service and atmosphere. A fantastic place for a fun work lunch.

After eating at Briscola on a semi-regular basis for some time, I took my family there for my sister’s birthday. I am incredibly disappointed, and frankly, humiliated that I had made the recommendation to eat here.

When I made the booking for eleven people, I was told that it was not possible to order al a carte, that our only option was to choose a banquet. I chose the option advertised as an assortment of pizzas and pastas. I didn’t understand this at the time to mean that we would not have the opportunity to select the pizzas and pasta that we wanted to eat. Instead, we were served whatever the kitchen had slapped together.

This “banquet” option was $35 per person - a total of $385 - for four small mediocre pizzas, two bowls of pasta, and one green salad between eleven people.

The one piece of pizza I ate was average.
When we made mention that the food was completely inadequate for the price, the owner spent about twenty minutes arguing that he wouldn’t discount the price because charging these prices “funds his lifestyle” – as he expressed it. Surely, if one’s lifestyle were funded by hospitality, they would make it their business to ensure repeat customers have a good experience.

This used to be a place that I would recommend to friends and family – it’s become one that I will tell people to actively avoid. A solidly disappointing evening.

.

Briscola Pizzeria is a warm and friendly spot to share pizza and red wine on a chilly Canberra Evening. Offering BYO wine at $4.50 per head and a 25% discount to Canberra Entertainment card holders, it’s also good value. Gianni is a welcoming and warm host who is keen to help you choose well.

Was looking to eat a good pizza and saw a sign 'Best Italian 2015', so that's where I would find my pizza.

The place is nice and service is friendly, but pizza isn't amazingly good and the medium pizza was quite small for the price I had to pay. I do liked that they had some special Italian beers on the menu.

Tried it once but will not come back.

I ordered a 'medium' pizza which is actually a small size everywhere else at a cost of $23. Thought the pizza was average especially considering that they advertise that they are Artisan pizza makers! Would recommend you look elsewhere for a good pizza. Won't be going back.

We had a good night here - the pizza was great and the atmosphere was nice & rustic in a modern sense. The pizza bases were the best I've had for a long time - really good, the dough was crispy and light. I had a nice glass of Shiraz and they gave us some complimentary home-made Italian crostini with our coffee....probably just a one-off gesture, but it was nice :) If I lived in Canberra I would definitely go back to this restaurant.

This place is awesome. The best italian restaurant other than my own kitchen. Anyone who walks past and doesn't stop to try it will never know how good it is.

Tasteless food, ordered veal that was tough as. Kids eat free did not include icecream yet waitress said it did in deal. Not worth money.

This is an outstanding little restaurant. We arrived to a buzzing atmosphere and we're promptly seated, it was Friday night and thankfully we made a booking, as it was packed!

Everything was fantastic, from the wait staff, entrees, pizza and pasta mains to the 'to die for' Tiramisu, yum! Without doubt I would recommend this little slice of Italy.

Pricy pizzas but they really are excellent. Bring your own wine though- their by the glass wines are terrible! Otherwise stick with their beers.

Family friendly, full of kids and retirees and bustle. Solid pizza, decent coffee, terrible deserts and sides, atrocious wine list. Good if you're wanting a basic, low-key evening.

Best Pizza!. Briscola's pizzas are authentic Italian style and always delicious. We loved the pizza at La Posada and are happy to know the same recipe is still being used. The young Italian owner is always very friendly and welcoming as well. One of our Canberra favourites.

I would say that Briscola La Pizzeria is a fancy family pizza restaurant. You pay the money for good pizza, in a fancy setting. So if you’re looking at a restaurant that is child friendly, but still fancy enough for special occasions, please do look at Briscola La Pizzeria
