Review Timmy's Kitchen - Canberra

Aaron Curran
I went there Friday for the first time in many years. My first experience was good but the standards of food and ambience has taken a huge dive. I ordered the Chinese roast duck. The skin was soft and it felt and tasted old. The fried rice was good - smokey and tasty. That was it. Three tables then left and it was just me. So the staff thought it a good idea to start vacuuming around me, sweeping the floors and having chit chat. Um, I'm still here people! Zero awareness or care. I dint think I'll go back.

On a family visit to Canberra in 1995 (as a kid) I always remembered the fantastic fried rice that they served when we dropped by at TK. ~25 years later I moved to Canberra and was pleasantly surprised to see that TK is still around. The fried rice is still great, but the other dishes we ordered had bold and authentic flavours, generous portions and no skimping of key ingredients. I will gladly keep coming here.

nice little spot for some classic chinese and malaysian dishes they have a good amount of seating indoors as well as a few options outdoors at the front definitely check out the specials board because there are some winners there! some of our favs was the shan tun chicken and the mongolian beef. everything was definitely enjoyable and would be happy to come back again theres plenty of street parking around as well as a small carpark complex too

Ordered via Uber eats . Won’t bother again. Had hot rock salted chicken: dry tasteless and presentation looked like the delivery guy has been in a collision with a cyclone!!! Also the beef rendang - which was quite nice - that’s what the ⭐️⭐️ are for. Very disappointed
Mandi Carters
Friendly staff, takeaway dishes only half full, beef chow mein had no flavour and hardly no beef, Mongolian lamb was ok. The price was way over the top for what we got. $65 for two half dishes and a fried rice with four dim Sims

Very disappointed. Very cold inside, asked to turn on heating and they did for 10 minutes. Staff in auto-bot mode, feed people then go. Not friendly. Focussed on take away and Uber-eats. Restaurant is used as a storeroom, stuff piled up. Asked to turn up heating, not interested. Food ok only won’t rush back there’s better options. This place has really lost its mojo.

Simply amazing, not covered in oil or deep fried. Authentic flavours, beautifully balanced. The vegetables are fresh and crispy. Love all the sauces. We got takeaway and we're very impressed. Staff were polite and friendly. Was a pleasure thank you.

Not as cheap as most Asian food places but that's fair for the quality of food. The staff is very friendly and gave us great recommendations of best sellers. The food is really good but I wasn't blown out of my mind, hence the 4 stars. Manuka is a really nice area too, so you can have a nice walk around after eating here.

Beautiful Sate Chicken and love this lamb ribs. It is a definitely to go restaurant. Bit shame as I was too full to try the Malaysian flavour, but there will always be a next time.

Great value, great service and great food!<br/>The rock salt squid was recommended to us and it was a huge win! Thanks for a great night for our family.

An old Canberra favourite. Good quality Malaysian and other Asian food, served fast, for a good price. Tables are packed in tight, but atmosphere is good. A great place to eat with friends, but not for a quiet rendezvous. Free dinner parking in the multi-storey car park right across the street. Highly recommended.

One of the only places open late in Canberra! Quick service and always good food. Had some great Australian/Chinese classics which too me straight back to my childhood faves of sweet and sour pork and lemon chicken with fried rice...sometimes you just gota do it ;)

Just good reliable Chinese. I live down the road and have been eating here for years. It is very hard to get food in Manuka these days with mainly Pub options or Italian food. This is the perfect place to stroll in at any time of night and have a reasonably priced meal with friends.

Not as good as Sammy's. Visited this restaurant because we love Sammy's in the CBD and Timmy's is just down the road. The famous Shan Tung chicken although appeared to be the same as that at Sammy's had a completely different taste. It was obvious that that the food we ordered was prepared quite differently and unfortunately not for the better.

Have just moved to Canberra and some friends took us here for dinner...liked it so much we went back the next day. We were told it was a Canberra icon and can see why!

Ordered takeaway and prices have gone up since last year. Servings are so small I don't think I'll be coming back

Consistent... Never had a bad meal here. The food comes quickly, but they also want to quickly push you out and it is also very cramped. OK if you know that is what to expect. But always on my shortlist of Asian food restaurants to eat at in Canberra.

Average food for average prices. Food comes out pretty quickly though.

We stopped in at an asian restaurant called Timmy’s Kitchen and ordered our take-out dessert. We ordered a deep-fried ice cream and a deep-fried banana with a scoop of ice cream.
Eat Love Move
Wishful thinking. The food was okay, and so too was the price, coming to a total of $50.50 for two. I couldn't help but think that our 8.30pm dinner seating was putting them out, as we were asked if we were ready to order three times!! I don't appreciate feeling rushed to order, particularly when it's a menu that I'm not familiar with. During our meal the staff insisted on moving and cleaning the tables directly next to us which was extremely distracting. They asked us for the soy sauce bottle that was a part of our table condiments, just so they could top it back up. it was almost full. We watched them do this, and the
