Hands down the best coffee in Braddon! Try have just spruced up their menu, so make sure you dine in to taste this delicious meal!
The atmosphere upstairs is so comfortable; it is my favourite study location!
The coffee is not burnt! Hoorah! It actually tastes good. Well balanced flavour.
This little place on Lonsdale Street has an inviting atmosphere when you walk in. It feels intimate with the service counter stretched all the way down the left wall with a staircase that extends to the heavens on the right. At first it seems like only a few pockets of seats and tables to sit at (I particularly like the communal table at the front) but there are stacks more upstairs.
Come inside and try the coffee out. I haven’t tried the food yet but I can assure you that I will in the near future.
Great coffee for Canberra. Still a little weak but hot with a rich and interesting flavour, so very unlike almost all Canberra coffee. Interesting foods with good veg options and sandwiches going beyond the norm. Very distracted service though.
Ordered zucchini fritters and Spanish breakfast. Fritters are good and well seasoned with crispy skin , but a little bit oily. Go well with avo and cherry tomatoes though. Sausages are good!
Large cafe offering plentiful indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a takeaway window for convenient ordering of coffees to go. Service was fine and the coffee was much-needed for the return drive to Sydney.

Coffee, food, location, service, ambiance, value for money- ALL ✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️
One of my few favourite places in Canberra to get breakfast! I honestly have nothing to complain about. I will be back for sure :)
A good breakfast spot, great coffee. Nice atmosphere, very busy. Service was satisfactory and quite quick considering the crowd. Liked the hollandaise, salmon was fresh but eggs were underdone. Nutella French toast was quite good. There's better places but I'd come back.
We were ignored by the staff when we first entered, leaving us standing around like dinguses. Once seated, however, everyone was quite pleasant. We had the corn fritters and eggs Benedict. Not the most interesting, but still delicious! I don't know what happened with my latte, though. It tasted like the foam was just scooped out and thrown on top. It was decent flavour-wise. Overall, it was OK. Not the worst, not the best.
Stopped by for a life saving early morning (6:45am) coffee on the way to the snow... heard a lot of hype about it and the fitout looked trendy and the baristas looked hip. The quality of the coffee and milk were very good, but coffee not strong enough. I'm a barista myself, and drink a double shot latte - and unfortunately the one I got from here was weak, just a single shot :/
I'll give it a one more go though next time I'm passing though.
In the up side - THE BEST CROISSANT IVE EVER HAD!
Update: coffee was excellent. Food was not amazing, but still ok!
Yep. Get here. Stopped for a coffee and doughnut. Yep. Delicious. Melbournites approve of this coffee. Breakfast looked pretty spot on too. Looks like a little Canberra gem
They were pretty busy but managed to get our food and drinks out in no time. The food and coffee was great as a usual.
The chips with the steak sandwich was especially tasty.
Very popular coffee roasters on Lonsdale St. I wanted to try their breakfast, but did not get a chance to try anything on the menu. The coffee, though, is great. I tried their house blend in a latte, and absolutely loved it. The roasters and barista know and love what they are doing.
I will be back to try their breakfast.
Coffee is the highlight here. It is some of the best I have had having lived in Wellington and Melbourne, both coffee city's.
Food was also very good. Price is a little expensive when compared to Melbourne but that is to be expected in Canberra. The capital is not the cheapest place to visit.
I got the beetroot and sweet potato fritter with eggs. Was delicious.
Others comment about the service which I found fine but I was here at 10am on a Tuesday.
Would definitely visit again.
YUM! Great staff, awesome breakfast selection and damn good coffee. Love the ambience of the place too, laid back and vintage. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, their hollandaise sauce is made from scratch (rare nowadays) and the flavour is delicious with a velvety texture. I shall return!
Yummy corn fritters with bacon, avocado, sour cream and tomato. Super corny. Hubs got the scrambled eggs with bacon and spinach. Really great good coffee.
Firstly the coffee was great
However we had to wait a very long time and ask for it as they forgot to make it
The service was a bit average all round
The food was a bit hit and miss only 1 out of 4 of us enjoyed theirs - me - I loved it
So the points here are for the coffee
The lauded coffee was good, but the non-egg options for breakfast were a bit lacking! The environment is relaxed and friendly, if a bit stark.
Today I thought I'd give LSR's lunch menu a try. It was Easter Saturday, the place was busy, and my partner and I sat up in their serene second floor eating area. Such a good atmosphere up there. Really relaxing.
I ordered the beef short rib tacos and my girl got the beef royal burger. Both were top top quality. As good as anywhere you could hope to find. I really hope lots of people from all walks of life visit this cool little joint. I love it when you are served food that meets/exceeds your high expectations. Top work.
And at $16.50 or so for each plate, the pricing was really reasonable for the quality that was on offer.
As for the coffee, I have been going to this place for an espresso most days of the week - and am of the mind that their short blacks from those freshly roasted beans set a standard many cafes should aspire to. Super creamy, full bodied, full of flavour. I recommend getting one when the morning public servant rush has died down though.
I'm new to Canberra and stumbled upon this little gem. The coffee is incredible. I love the outside seating area. I found the staff rally friendly. Definitely one of my favourite spots so far.
Definitely my favorite Sunday morning reading place. Lonsdale street boasts a relaxing, homey atmosphere where one can easily read a book or get some work done with a delicious cup of coffee. It's conveniently located so you can access the city-wide wifi. The second level is spacious with a great view and a few couches for a more casual dining or cafe experience. It's seen quite a bit of change in the last couple of years and I've only grown to love it more.
Had a piccolo and some avo on toast. My partner ordered a mocha and the salmon dish. Food was alright but nothing special. The coffee blew us away though. Delicious! Will definitely be back for more coffee in the future.
Canberra has some pretty good coffee and I want to tell you about Lonsdale Street Roasters. Not only do they have some pretty good coffee, they have some pretty good food. . Located on Lonsdale Street (funny that!) in the suburb of Braddon, the smell of coffee leads you up the front stairs into a large piece of real estate consisting of a ground and upper level. The walls are adorned with huge, colourful murals which add an amazing splash of colour to the already bright premises. The area is popular as a hip hang out, a place to unwind after a spot of shopping or perhaps for that post bike ride coffee fix.
Usually go there for a quick bite in the afternoon before closing time but held off writing a review till I tried breakfast there. Food and coffee is good, nice selection at the counter (both savoury and sweet) and while the current breakfast menu selection is small, what they do they do very well indeed. The place occupies a two story shophouse along the road so if you sit upstairs you get a nice view of where Civic and Braddon meet. An all round nice breakfast or tea time experience for anyone who goes there.
Consistently good coffee, friendly staff and some great food! An easy go-to and a great one to reccomend. All my visitors have loved it here :)
Oh Lonnys, your coffee is pretty good, which makes your skimpy servings all the more depressing. I ask for a large flat white and I get an inch of foam and an inch of air from the top of the cup. Why am I bothering to purchase a large serving if I get a medium serving size at best?
LSR has been pumping out reasonable espresso in Lonsdale street for a few years now, and while sometimes it can be hit and miss, generally the coffee is pretty consistent and the food is good.
Love the Kevin Bacon roll with an Espresso for $15. Great value
I asked for soldiers & eggs when I saw 'any eggs on toast'. No? Then don't put 'any'. Disappointment. Egg benny served on big cold plate. Obviously the fat solidified within seconds. The corn is dried as, is that from yesterday leftovers?
Pretty good coffee, stock standard 'hipster' decore but not overly wanky. All in all not bad
Best toasted sandwiches. It really says something when they can have two Lonsdale Street Roasters on the same street. Fantastic toasted sandwiches and excellent coffee. The service is good, considering how flat-out busy they are. Super excited they've opened a coffee place southside.
Nice spot. Good music, good coffee, excellent variation on a Cuban sandwich. Good service.
Canberra's first hipster cafe. It was the first hipster place on the Canberra block. But backs up all the hipster attitude with a great coffee.
First of it's kind. These guys have been killing it for years and they aren't going to stop any time soon. Strong support from canberra foodies and cafe-hipsters alike.
Paninis!!!!!!. The BEST paninis ever! I prefer the old shop to the new one... But I would recommend either as I enjoy the coffee and the all round feel of the place :)
Great coffee!! I love the ghetto interior and punk music played just at the right level. Trendy friendly staff make it an all round funky, great-vibed hub for young and old. Limited menu, I didn't eat, mainly because I was too hungover but the toasties looked and smelt awesome! Get here!
TOPS. Had a great coffee here last week, worth a visit if ur around..best coffee by miles
Out-of-this-world coffee. Iced Coffees and coffee in general here is absolutely top-notch. I've not had a better iced coffee anywhere in Canberra - it's served with a flavoured syrup of your choice, a twill of orange and a little jug of milk to add yourself.
The sandwiches are so-so, not huge nor filling, but very reasonably priced, so not bad at all. It's difficult to get seating so don't come during peak periods.
Fantastic Beans for Sale. I read about this place on another website and was keen to check it out as I just moved to Canberra from Melbourne. I have started grinding my own beans for added freshness when making coffee at home and I wanted to try some new ones, preferably single origin beans. The staff here were friendly and efficient and happy to recommend their latest beans - 100% Arabica from PNG. They are delicious! I also ordered a take away coffee and the service was fast and the coffee was great. Will be a regular from now on. The vibe in the place was on the trendy side, which I think there is a shortage of in Canberra.
As a Melbourne coffee snob I can say that roasters make INCREDIBLE coffee. Best strong treacly espresso with amazing character. I always buy their beans (which they roast themselves) to brew at home in our stovetop espresso maker..... bliss!
BEST COFFEE IN CANBERRA!!!!!!!!! Don't ever NOT go :)

Went there for brunch on new years eve and it was busy as usual. Lovely food and great service. Ordered the pulled pork panini which was yummy and very moist, the pickled jalapeño also added a nice kick to it. The other panini that we ordered was the prosciutto with bocconcini - it was nice but just a tad salty but that was expected. The hazelnut ice coffee was lovely and refreshing - No cream and ice cream, just milk ;)
I'd heard so much hype about this place that I wanted to see for myself - the coffee is pretty good, I can say that. It's all terribly hipster but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I like the souvenir spoons they use, it fits in with the whole inner-city, funky vintage vibe that Braddon is going for these days. I didn't have food as it was late arvo but the menu and specials all looked pretty nice. My only (mild) criticism was the lack of snacky options - all they has was giant muffins and Danishes. But it's not a big deal at all. i also thought the service was great considering how busy they were. I liked it and I'll be back.
Quick lunch turned out to be a protracted affair on account of the challenges presented by a lack of parking. If not for the greater patience & keen senses exhibited by my colleague who was driving, I would have been inclined to give up prematurely. 20Min later, four laps of the block, we found one. Coffee fantastic, as the name suggests, panini with grilled pumpkin, rocket and basil pesto was simple but delicious. My associate enjoyed a "yummy" chorizo cheese and relish ensemble. nice decor, vibrant atmosphere. Thumbs up.
The coffee was good. Portobello mushroom truffle was awesome. Highly recommended
A main stay of Lonsdale Street serving great coffee. My flat white was super frothy! Scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, cooked to perfection and the side of bacon was generous and just crispy enough. Some outdoor seating plenty indoors. Staff were friendly and service was fast despite the crowd.
One word: YUM!
My hubby and I dined at LSR for breakfast this morning and we really enjoyed ourselves. Our coffees were well made and the food was delicious.
I had the Haloumi and Corn Fritters and the meal tasted as good as it looks. The sweet potato crisps were a beautiful addition and the flavours went together well. My hubby had eggs benedict which he enjoyed.
Highly recommend.
We had 〜
Lonsdale Breakfast, Eggs Benedict with Pulled Pork, Brioche French Toast
Simply delicious.
Perfect poached eggs. No overbearing flavours. Generous portions.
Thank you.
Great food and coffee with friendly staff. Our favorite brunch is baked eggs and smashed avo.
Really nice Cafe. The coffee here was the best! And the brunch was pretty good too! Would definitely go to Lonsdale street roasters again. Friendly staff and comfortable seating. Highly recommend visiting this spit
Fantastic, friendly and fast service. Helpful staff and delicious food with a great vibe. Kids loved the art work.Chili jam … divine. Even got a great tip on where to take the kids next. We’ll be back.
Wonderful place and a Canberra icon. Great service with wholesome food, prompt and table service. Music was probably slightly too loud and hard surfaces amplify background sounds so the acoustics could be better, it would be difficult to hold a comfortable conversation when busy (hard surfaces and poor acoustics seems to be a general cafe trend) but overall a great local Canberra icon.
