Review Thai Chiang Rai - Canberra

Had a take-away of beef Pad thai for the first time. Quite disappointed as it wasn’t really a pad thai. No chopped peanuts, no lemongrass, no bean sprouts, no lemon wedge, and didn’t taste any oyster/fish sauce but overpowering tomato sauce and vinegar. Beef tasted dry and bland.

I have very rarely left a bad review but feel compelled here becos of appealing service.I have been visiting this place for 10 years and the last was a few days ago There were 5 of us . Most food we ordered was ok. We also ordered a pad Thai and when we tasted it was too salty we sent the dish back, the same dish was sent back but too sweet now. I again sent it back and the same thing was sent back. I told them it was uneatable they said becos we tasted it it couldn't be refunded or a new one made. I asked to speak to manager or owner none came. I paid for everything including the pad thai and left. Most appaling

Quite a nice Thai Restaurant with tasteful decor. We have frequented the one in Belconnen many times over the years. The quality of the meal on the night tends to depend on the chef on duty. Sometimes not as good as others. One of our favorites ‘Plah Tod’ was not available at Kingston and their ‘Macadamia Scallops’ was a little disappointing. Not quite 4 star but not 3 either.

Delicious food as always, and after an issue with an incomplete Deliveroo delivery, the staff at Thai Chang Rai went above and beyond to ensure the full order was delivered within minutes.

Absolutely awful. Almost $54 for takeaway and i got the two tiniest dishes ever. Beef massaman with like 3 tiny pieces of very bad tough beef, all sauce and few potatoes and roast chicken which was dry, no flavour and barely any chicken that was obviously sitting there for a while, soggy cucumbers. The only thing that was decent was the rice but who can make bad rice ? Such a rip off, small portions, stingy portions. Not fresh and a big let down. Extremely disappointed. The other one is belconnen is way better, the one in belconnen is actually amazing. Huge portions, fresh and tasty and better priced. I usually eat at the belconnen one , once or twice a week. Thought I'd try kingston tonight but I made a mistake, kingston was disgusting. It's a fail.for me... This is also coming from someone who eats out lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Takeaway or eat in.

Pretty disappointed. All the food we ordered had no sauce so was very dry and tasteless. Spent over $75 and had to drink water just to get it down. Love Thai and get these dishes often. Maybe an off night but disappointed.

Only water was good. Service was below the level Plz do go there to waste your money.

Generally well executed dishes and efficient if not overly friendly service.

Went here after work with some colleagues. I found it super overpriced and kind of pretentious. I had the fried rice. But I could seriously get the same dish for less than half price for the same quality.

Warmly greeted by the staff. I had the stir fry chicken with corn and broccoli. The description said it was topped off with peanut sauce but by the time I got to eat it, the peanut sauce was no where to be found. The brown rice was cooked perfectly. The broccoli was very light on as was the corn spears. The corn was tinned from what I can work out and had that slightly rusty taste that gave it away. The take away was ok but not the best I've consumed that's for sure.

Tried after good review scores, being close to our holiday accom; 3 out of 4 dishes were below average.

Spring rolls were nice, great flavour in filling..

Panang beef - sauce was very thin and not real panang flavour (we order it regularly)... also the beef was very dry.

Chilli basil chicken - sauce was nice flavour but again the meat was so dry the dish wasn't great.

Saffron rice was sticky / gluggy and did not appear to be made with saffron (didn't even appear to be turmeric as many saffron rice dishes use - looked and tasted artificial).

I love this place for their thai duck basil, one of the best in town. Friendly staff and excellent service. Very affordable and they also have lunch special for certain meals so its an excellent choice if you work around kingston area.

Great food. Had take away from here, and although it was busy the wait was reasonably short. All the food was fantastic, and some of the best Thai I've had. Highly recommend Thai Chiang Rai.

Thai Chiang Rai Kingston, is an ideal spot for an inexpensive, but interesting and pleasant, group dinner. Noy, the manager, is very helpful in designing a shared menu and his suggestions are terrific.

Helpfully open for dinner every day from 5 pm (and lunch Monday to Friday), it is found at 48 Giles St Kingston...

Very tasty dishes. 5 spice prawn. Jungle lamb curry and chilli and lemon grass pork with rice.
All dishes were tasty. Service was great. Price ok. Sieving size was a little on the small side.
I would go again.
