Review Lolo And Lola - Canberra

Honey BBQ chicken was great. However, the crispy pork belly was quite oily to me. The dessert was a highlight, l love the egg pudding (plan cake) the most.

The best filo restaurant we have eaten so far. It's just a shame they have small space. Walk ins are accommodated outside though with heater can still be cold. The ice scramble was so good. Their sinigang sa sa salmon is also very nice and perfect for winter. Sisig could improve by putting it in a sisig plate with egg. Restaurant clean. Staff friendly. Toilet available. Recommended.

A lot of overhyped reviews on here but is definitely is a good restaurant: good service, tasty food and reasonable portion sizes. The menu is fairly concise and easy to order from. I forgot there were additional dessert options up the front in their display window. 3 caveats: * They have an electronic ordering system, even for customers who are dining in. This makes ordering additional items a chore. If you want an extra drink, you have to go through the whole rigmarole of punching in your email and card details. * Some dishes are dry, and need extra sauce. The steamed Barramundi was great, it was stuffed with a few tomatoes but more sauce or toppings would have been nice. Same with the pork belly dish - it was very dry. They did provide a vinegar dressing but what if you didn't want vinegar? I asked if they had chilli sauce or something like that, and they kindly provided fresh chili. * I wouldn't take any vegetarian or vegan friends here. There are limited options for them. I would like to visit again to try the authentic dishes, especially the desserts.

Compared to other Filo restaurant in Australia, the price of dishes is reasonable but man, the rice which is served in a small bowl is freakin 4$ cant believe how inflation hits this place. Otherwise taste of dish is not bad. Not the best either. Halo halo was good though, but exxie. u judge bro

A must dishes to get Bagnet, Sisig, garlic fried rice, calamares, pinoy ribs, sinaign isda (barramundi fish), bicol express and finishing with halo-halo. Good service and food comes out pretty quick. This review is late but going to Canberra on a weekend from Sunday to Tuesday, I found we could only attend on a Sunday so I made it a priority to go there and made a booking - which is highly recommended. So came on a Sunday and it’s really nice looking at the menu, it reminded me about all the filo dishes I always liked and had in Phillipines. We picked our food and I think we over ordered LOL but couldn’t help it, it was so yummy the food. We of course ordeeed the filo bbq which they do really well. I also had their taho which was amazing and I don’t think I’ve seen this in any filo resturant here in sydney!? (Or I haven’t seen one yet) The halo halo was a good portion. Really enjoyed all the food I just wish I could eat more. The great thing also is that I believe they change their specials on a weekly basis which helps add variety for you to choose! I’ve made the decision that every time we go to Canberra we are visiting this place!! Can’t wait till next time :)

What can I say about Lolo and Lola. Well, to begin with it's an excellent restaurant. The owner and the people who works their are very friendly and very welcoming. It's a very friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Tha food are excellent and it's the best. It feels like you're in the Philippines. You can relax and enjoy your meal. I will highly recommend it to anyone to come and try the Filipino cuisine.

Honestly I don't eat at Pilipino restaurants, because it's very disappointing paying for food that's not worth eating. Why can't they cook food that you can appreciate and comes back for more. As I said to my friends after eating here at Lolo & Lola's the chef was horrible for cooking something so tasty and delicious. OMG it was so good that I over indulged myself with the food and dessert. It was a delightful experience, all the crew are so friendly, helpful and very accommodating to their guests. Highly recommended to visit and eat. Even if you have to drive for hours to get there. Thank you and more thank you that I finally found the BEST place to eat Pilipino food. PS...I could hardly walk after eating, I was so full..

When a restaurant has 300 plus reviews you don't really need my two cents but here goes. I've been coming to Canberra from Brisbane for almost 10 years now and for the past three trips I have always popped into Lolo and Lola. First it was a market store, then it became a shipping contain and now it's a restaurant. I couldn't be more delighted with the food and sweets (Sans Rival, Kanto style ensaymada and ube chiffon cake is like crack) and the service is incredible. I ordered a cake and some bread back in May and Kim did not forget. I have lots of love for this place and couldn't praise it more highly. If you're in Canberra, schedule in a visit.

Today we had lunch with Gabe and Don. Ate Pancit Chami, Chicken BBQ skewers (a must !!) and Pork Bagnet (to die for !!) plus the super yummy leche flan and Sapin sapin for dessert. Was not expecting pabaon of the star bread from Chef Kim - maraming salamat.

Was quite stunned. After nothing but abject disappointment from Filipino restaurants in Sydney, we decided to visit Lolo and Lola while down in Canberra for the annual model train exhibition. This place takes it to the next level. The staff are awesome from the second you walk in. The food is fantastic and there is tonnes of it. Like the average Filo party, we had to take the rest home in containers. Even the dunnies were spotlessly clean and had framed Filipino comics decorating the walls. Loved everything about it. They do Filo food better than restaurants in the Philippines, certainly a massive step up to those I've had to endure in Sydney. We will be back.

Wish you were in Melbourne! Had the yummiest dinner tonight, best Filipino restaurant with true traditional flavors that remind me of mums cooking. Our Halo Halo Espesyal was delicious, and massive- took 4 of us to polish it off. Maraming salamat

First of all the food are astonishingly, mouth watering delicious and that is a given. Personally the thing that gets me is how friendly and hospitable the staff are specially ate Kim who is really close to my heart. Eventually the smiles and goodvibes are very contagious in this resto. The atmosphere is great and definitely invites you to have an amazing appetite. Furthermore the whole set up is perfect, food are amazing and staff are great. Lolo and lola is the perfect epitome of success in delivering not only the authentic filipino food but also the real vibe of filipino culture.

The atmosphere, customer service, quality of the food and the regularity in which they change the menu are all undisputable hallmarks of a restaurant that wants to give customers an experience to remember... And they're succeeding ...

Was recommended by one of my Filipino friends. Had the pork belly and rice. The only problem is that my stomach wasn’t big enough Such friendly service and great atmosphere. Can’t wait to come again

My friend said that the chef is horrible because the food was so delicious and it made him over indulge. We walked around the nearby park to walk off our full stomachs. Highly recommend it. We’ll definitely go back to LoLo and Lola next time we’re in Canberra. Thank you Pao, Kim and the rest of the staff for your hospitality.

Great taste food, feels like I’m home...fast and friendly service. I have never seen a Filo restaurant this busy in Australia...love the sisig so yummy!

Aside from being the best restaurant I have been, LOLO AND LOLA provides very good service with their customers. Never have I seen any of the staff loose their smiles throughout every busy service times. Back of house staff surely puts efforts and passion on their plate and every creation they make. I love the whole team.

The staff were lovely and food came out quickly. Unfortunately the beef was very gristly and salty. Chicken skewers were nice. They also couldn't do any sides and had no small meals suitable for little kids.

Always yummy and great quality food, don't mind paying these prices. We enjoy the rotating menu, keeps things interesting and makes us try new things.
Nicole Palsky
Absolutely delicious food, left feeling very satisfied and wanting more Will definitely be back to enjoy the food and be welcomed by the gorgeous staff. Thanks Lolo and Lola for a fantastic experience and I can't wait to visit again soon!

Came all the way from Sydney. Wasn't disappointed. Great Food, Lovely service. Nice interior decor. Probably the best Filo restaurant I've been to so far here in Oz!

Thanks Kim!!! At last, a Filo Restaurant that we can be proud of. If you are from Sydney, it is worth the drive. LoLo and Lola will be our go to place whenever we are in ACT
I Love Food
Dined for dinner with friends. We shared the bbq chicken skewers, baked whole barramundi, crispy fried pork belly, slow cooked beef curry, seafood rice noodle dish & garlic fried rice. All the food was delicious & a great way to sample a variety of Filipino food. I had the homemade sweet ginger tea which was tasty. Service was very friendly & they allow you to take home any leftovers.
The World’s My Oyster
Great serving sizes, really friendly service and definitely one of the more authentic Asian food experiences you can get in Canberra. Can’t go past the chicken skewers or the roasted pork belly! The Ube dessert had strong taro flavour, interesting ingredient topping and HUGE size!
The Happy Tummy
The best sans rival I’ve tasted! It’s so good I can’t have enough of it. Must try when here are also their bagnet, chicken inihaw, leche flan and halo-halo. I always try to come here whenever I’m down in Canberra.
Nicole Bulseco
Probably the best Filipino restaurant in Australia. Authentic taste with a dash of uniqueness. Love the weekly changing menus and the halo halo is a must try.

Come here for Canberra’s best Filipino food. They have a changing menu (changes weekly) with a couple of their all time favourites that remain on the menu daily. They love their pork here! I have tried their pork bagnet and sisig. Fantastic flavours and generous portions. Their Jolli-bee drumsticks were delicious, the batter was thin and crispy. They have great customer service, super friendly and they even remember their frequently visiting customers. Make sure you try their lechi flan, they have some ready for takeaway too!

Restaurant was new when we dined there. Wished they put more variety into the menu. Food is 3/5; leche flan is good but too dang sweet. Place is nice, 5/5; price is 3/5. It was okay. You pay for rice, it doesn’t come in meal sets.

The food was delicious!! I havent had a good Filipino food in a while and this one is definitely one of them. The crispy pork was really tasty and crunchy and i really liked the pork barbeque sauce. I guess the only thing i didnt like was the drink we ordered (kalamansi and ginger tea) were too sweet.
Me And My Belly
My favourite local go to.
I've never been that familiar with Filipino food, but always impressed, they have weekly specials and everytime I'm blown away.
There's nothing on the menu I wouldn't try, and their cakes are always a good idea, for either a take home snack or eat in.

Finally got to visit Lolo and Lola the restaurant (having previously eaten at their food truck in Acton Park) and it was fantastic! Same super friendly service and a slightly larger menu that changes regularly.
I had chicken bbq skewers and the halo halo espesyal, both of which were really, really good (the halo halo was enormous and had to be shared). Lighting was decent and music at a good level where talking was still feasible.
Also recommend checking out their daily sweets, the ensaymadas are great (if you've never had ensaymadas, they're little soft rolls filled with butter, sugar and cheese - try them!).
Will be back on my next visit to Canberra!

Amazing Filipino restaurant in Canberra! Awesome service, nicely designed interior, food did not take take long to cook, big serving and food was really filled with flavor! We ordered the famous pork bagnet, kare kare, miki-bihon, leche flan and sago’t gulaman. All highly recommended! I only had the chance to take a pic of the leche flan as we did not waste a minute in devouring the entrees. This place is really worth visiting!

Ate here on a Saturday night of the Australia Day long weekend, the restaurant was packed but have been greeted and treated promptly with the staff’s 5 star hospitality. They had the Jollibee specials this week; and we just had to try their Palabok, thin Palabok noodles served with a generous amount of sauce enriched with baby prawns and finally topped off with boiled egg, spring onion and really crunchy pork crackling. We also tried the burger steak, definitely felt nostalgic with this one! The burger was cooked juicy and that mushroom gravy definitely brings you back to jollibee days for sure! Another highlight dish of the night is the pork Bagnet, no wonder this one was on their “Bestseller” list!! It was cooked to perfection! Generous amount of salt and spices with precise cooking methods has clearly been executed to present an absolute winner of a dish. Was aesthetically served hot, super crispy and cut in to bite-sized pieces which made it a lot easier to indulge on. The sauce took this dish from a winner to a champion! The sweet and sour-ness of the dipping sauce had you eating more and talking less.
And finally for dessert, we had Halo Halo Espesyal, super colourful, tasty and had your tastebuds dancing with the complexities of the textures and tastes this dessert had. From the crunchy toasted rice flakes to the soft gooey jackfruit, mung beans, sugared bananas and yams, the bouncy bites of coconut gel and tapioca pearls.. to the ultra creamy Leche flan and Milk; down to the fine powdery textured shaved ice.... it’s like a party on your mouth and EVERYONE is invited!
The food was superb, the ambience was very warm and welcoming and the staff is definitely something to be commended for. Fast, attentive, effective, always smiling and pleasant and most importantly got things done.

Location: was a bit far, but had ample parking space and quite accessible.

Price: was on point, with generous portion sizes.

It was a great experience, and would definitely dine here again. Would highly recommend! Thank you for a great feast, Lolo&Lola Canberra, keep up the great work ;)

The best filipino restaurant so far since migrating here. Loved their best selling ensaymada and the banana nutella sansrival. Their bistek is on point as well as their pork bbq. Apparently they change their menu to keep it interesting. Also the “regular” size is actually good enough for 2 people. Try the restaurant now before the line goes out of hand when they get popular because they don’t take reservations. I tried convincing them to open a branch in melbourne but so far their heart is set on canberra. Will ABSOLUTELY come back on pur next Canberra visit 😊
