Love this place! Huge selection of wines and spirits at the bar and the food was delicious with good sized portions.

Had dinner here around mid May 2022 which was a very disappointing and led me to give some scathing feedback - mostly to do with the service and how a legitimate complaint about the food was poorly handled. However, I must commend the management, particularly Desiree, for their sincere response. They were gracious in acknowledging the faults and took my feedback on board. They were very accommodating to my partner and I, whom they invited to return for dinner and try their revamped menu. I must say our experience compared to the first time was like night and day.. We went on a Tuesday night and even then it was buzzing. Good if you like that kind of atmosphere but probably not the best if you want a quiet, peaceful chat. Anyway our host Jun was superb, providing us with a personal selection of dishes and drink pairings. The food came out promptly and the quality was exquisite. The scallops and king prawns for entrée were vibrant and delicious and the lamb and rib eye for mains were so flavourful and just melts in your mouth. Also the bombe Alaska dessert was...the bomb! Definitely changed our original impression and we had an great night. Thanks for the great service Desiree and Jun :)
Stayed the night at qt visiting relatives, took my parents to the restaurant that night as I forgot to book a restaurant.
Manager Jun on duty was great and accomadating for the last minute reservation.
Food was great, highlight on the steak that would usually cost alot more then it is at other restaurants I have been too. Albeit still on the higher end pricing of hotel restaurants (we did order a few bottles of wine too) its also a lot nicer with better vibes than most.
Would definately recommend, not sure why people are referencing it to a pub when its not what its aimed to be.
Friendly staff at the time, tried to be attentive and offered services. overall great experience!
If you're looking for a fabulous night out with great food and amazing cocktails Capitol Bar & Grill is your go to. The atmosphere is so vibrant and relaxed, the service at the restaurant and bar is absolutely amazing!!
I have been going here for many years now booking the place for many occasions without disappointment. After I found out my favourite cocktail was off the menu the amazing manager Jun went above and beyond to find the recipe and absolutely nailed it!
I have celebrated many occasions here with everything from service, food and atmosphere being 100% on point.
UPDATE - after another amazing experience two nights ago. You have to try to book for the new ‘chef’s table’ experience. Mel the cuisine chef was personally looking after us and it was one of the best meals we have had ever, anywhere in the world. Sound like hyperbole? Go and check it out for yourself! Desiree, Jun, Steven and the team always take amazing care of us when in Canberra.
Google needs to permit the option for 6 stars for places like this. Not the first time I've eaten here, but it was for some of my comrades this time around - everyone has been raving about the most incredible dinner that we had. Hats off Desiree to you and your staff - special shout-out to Jun (who always takes great care of us) and his offsider Stephen (apologies if it's a V and not a 'ph'!). Can't wait to eat here again (actually later this week, lol!).

Lovely experience at Capitol Bar & Grill.
The restaurant was quite busy after 7pm so a booking is recommended. The staff were friendly and helpful and took attention to details e.g. refilling water at the table.
Decided on sampling all the starters followed by dessert (6 starters 1 dessert between 2.) The food was delicious, the flavours blended beautifully- a well constructed menu.
Highly recommend.
