Review Ginger And Spice - Canberra

Regularly get dumplings from here and always love them. Also love the Shallot Pancakes. Have eaten in a couple of times as well and service is always friendly. Love seeing the dumplings freshly made.

Really disappointed in the quality the chicken used for their kung po chicken. They used low quality cheap drumstick meat with lots of tendons instead of chicken breast meat that's suppose to be used in kung po chicken. This is honestly the worst kung po chicken I have ever tasted in my life. As a chinese. I can tell you this from the heart Also they charge $4 for a 375ml can of coke, ridiculous. edit: in response to owner: I asked to confirm that the chicken was instead leg part because I was writing this review. Normally Chinese charge $2.5 to 3 for a can of coke and use breast meat for their kung pao chicken. I only ate about 1/3 of the dish, mostly the rice. Even the fried rice was subpar. I paid $17.5 for my meal and was still very hungry because I ate only a little bit.

Booked dinner for my mum’s birthday only to be told when we turned up that our booking had been cancelled one hour ago. The staff could not tell us the name of the person who cancelled or the phone number. We are regulars and now don’t want to come back because we have been let down and my mum’s birthday dinner ruined. Not happy.

Ginger and Spice ticked almost all the right boxes. Great ambience, fantastic service, lot of niceties, including complimentary fortune cookies and wet towels. We ordered a sweet and sour pork, a ginger beef, and a hot and sour soup. I really wanted to like the ginger beef, which smelled incredible; without the sauce, the meat was rather bland, which I found disappointing. On the bright side, the hot and sour soup was delicious and the sweet and sour pork worked well. Overall, a deep menu that bodes well for my return because I'm sure to give a place like this another shot.

I have eaten here multiple times before both in-person and through online ordering, it has not always been a fabulous experience but this restaurant deserved this review today. I ordered on Doordash an hour ago. The food arrived within 35 min, steaming, fresh and tasty! It is quite common to recieve cold food when you order through a delivery portal but that was not the case today. I called the restaurant prior to make an addition/changes, which was also reflected in my order. Overall, with staff service, food quality, taste and experience, this place is a winner in my books!

Great food, but i was extremely put off by the surcharge fee, which is not mentioned on their website, or even anywhere for that matter, staff should also be informing customers of extra surcharge fees, before charging them not after. It's dishonest.

The best option for Chinese food in Gungahlin. Service is always friendly and owner is amazing. Would highly recommend the garlic steamed prawns from the Chinese menu.

This place is tasty, but be wary for the gluten free diner. Check they use GF soy! And you must check every dish served. Easier to go elsewhere

It was the only chinese place I actually like in Canberra! The garlic pepper chicken is dry and very salty but the fried rice and Mongolian lamb are fantastic! Presentation of food is a zero but the flavour is there so that's all that counts! The wait staff are very rushed! As soon as you put down your spoon they take your plate immediately! It's rude to do that especially if others are still eating!

Just happened to be in the neighbourhood on a Friday so ducked in for takeaway on a recommendation. Service and price definitely a plus as a lot cheaper than in town. Flavours okay, but definitely a local favourite judging by the foot traffic! Disappointed that the Crispy Skin Chicken with lemon sauce was a cut up schnitzel with the sauce added???

Very solid neighborhood Asian food with a little bit of makes for everybody as well as nice friendly service. I would definitely recommend this place for a casual night out.

A bad night to be there, a large group booking and VERY loud female patron with a laugh that would disturb the dead. People were moving tables to get away from her.The food was OK - nothing great. We have been there 3 or 4 times previously since moving to the area in 2014. A very standard menu, we asked for extra chilli/heat/kick to the food - none - it is VERY mild. My partner is Spanish - so we like spice and flavour. It does not have to be about being eye watering hot. What salt (and table salt does not count - it should be used only for cooking and nothing more) does to season western food, the sauces do the same with Asian food. And they lacked good strong flavour. It is what I call 'country Chinese' - when compared to what you get in big cities, or Asian restaurants in Civic or Barton. I did enjoy the Singapore noodles, brought back memories of curries with Keens curry powder mum made when I was growing up.

Good food and Quick service. Request to make the food spicy was kindly adhered to. Staff were friendly. The only thing i can pick on is the ambience and table spacing. It was bit congested for my liking.

Best in Canberra!. They do the best food..<br/><br/>Chinese is always 'Ginger and Spice'<br/>Aussie takeaway is always 'The G Spot'<br/><br/>Best 2 places in town!

Popular due to its middle-of-the-roadness. This restaurant is just like every other chinese restaurant out there. Menu is very generic and you will find all your favourite dishes here, whether dining in or getting take away. No faults, at the same time, not memorable either. The safe option.

Good value, quick service. I've never actually eaten in but always got takeaway, so this review is for takeaway from Ginger and Spice.<br/><br/>The service is super quick! They always tell you 15-20 minutes but unless it's a huge order it's usually less than 10! <br/><br/>It's nice enough Cantonese style food, a bit better than the average suburban Chinese restaurant. Not overly salty or unbalanced sauces and the meat is decent quality. While the restaurant itself doesn't look flashy (clean and tidy though) like Sammy's etc in town, the food is pretty much the same quality. I'm happy to go back there regularly for takeaway and I'd probably do the sit-down service if I had relatives with kids visiting. Like most Chinese restaurants it seems to be family-friendly.

There is not a lot on the menu but it does have all the traditional Chinese dishes that you would find in a typical Chinese restaurant in Australia. The service was nice and friendly. It wasn't to expensive either. I would dine here again.

Tasty and value for money. I have been eating here with my family and also business associates since it opened. The food and service are second to none. Always fresh and tasty, I have never been disappointed with the food or service. The menu is extensive and contains all the favourites, however if you ask the staff they will recommend other dishes that are not listed. Fiona and her staff will ensure that your dining experience is a memorable one.
