Review Caph's Restaurant & Cafe Bar - Canberra

The character of this place is great and it has an intimate 1920s vibe. The food is bang on average. The service is attentive. The indoor tables are well spaced so even when it gets busy you can still hear/chat with your company.

Great location, staff were very friendly and polite. Homemade beef pie was absolutely fantastic, and washed down with a Guinness. I’m looking forward to visiting again for breakfast

Racial profiling at it's best. Absolutely disgusted by the behavior. The premises is vintage and so is the attitude of the people within, the only thing missing is a board saying "WHITE FOLKS ONLY" *The whole situation seemed right out of a hollywood movie ( in a bad manner) where outsiders arrive in a racist town. Out of the blue my wife wanted to eat french toast after dinner, and after calling a few places around they were the only one who still served it at that time. Upon entering this dull and rather empty place, the staff and customers alike were looking at us like we were Aliens lol, just because my wife had a hijab and I had a beard. The waitress was rather uncomfortable being around us and asking what we wanted and gave us a rather irritated look when we only ordered a french toast. I wanted to order something just to save us any further embarrassment, but I couldn't as it would require calling upon any of HIS/HER majesties (waiters) AGAIN. The final nail in the coffin was the french toast, seemed like they had slapped the bread on frying eggs rather than soaking it (refer to picture), chopped bananas instead of strawberries and were not sure if they should serve maple syrup to us or not. I guess they had already assumed that people like us wouldn't know what a french toast looks or tastes like. Had to leave without trying it and paying a surcharge for their very warm and welcoming behavior (pun intended) #racial-profiling #racist #unprofessional ZERO STARS

Been to Caphs a few times, I ordered the thai soup, salmon benny and also a waiter’s recommendation: The honey glazed pork cutlet. Upon arrival to the table, there’s an aroma of honey. The cutlet was nice, tender and moist.

The food never disappoints! Great menu selection any time of the day. Casual, relaxed dining inside or out. Has a comfortable homely feeling inside & plenty of space. Staff were friendly & attentive. This restaurant receives top stars!!

Great 1920s style and atmosphere. Service very friendly. Let down by the food. Coffee… mine was good my partners long black was cold. Toast was barely toasted, scrambled eggs overdone.

Its always a questionable indicator when surrounding restaurants are full and one is empty but i gave them a go. I ordered a glass of house red (14 Dollars charged and sirloin 38 dollars) The wine came fast enough also the steak unfortunately it was "firm" although ccoked well enough it was hard cutting and chewing. The female waitress seemed more engaged with chats behind bar despite several attempts to get eye contact to order another glass failed Probably just as well at 14 dollars a glass)( I have receipt) No one asked how the meal was as in every restaurant i've been to.On paying the bill no inquiry on the meal enjoyment Overall the staff seem not engaged more liking social interaction with friends and colleagues in a service industry it explains why the restaurant was empty 1t 730 on sunday night.
