Review Little Thailand Dickson - Canberra

Maggie Mallett
I don't normally review, but I decided to give this restaurant a try after being disappointed after the last Thai meal I had in Dickson. Ordered the entre chicken satay, ginger and shallot vegetables and crispy chicken with cashews - all were lovely! Veggies were still nice and crunchy in all dishes, chicken was good quality and cooked well. Satay was especially nice as it wasn't that dodgy chicken you sometimes get... Home delivery on time. Will definitely order there again.

We haven't eaten in here, but we order takeaway fairly regularly. They do the best satay skewers in Canberra (with the possible exception of yhe Griffith Vietnamese) and as long as you don't order late on a busy weekend night the food is very good and arrives in a reasonable time - if you live inner-North I recommended!

We gather here regularly and love it. Aside from the good, well-priced food and good service, it's small and quieter than most- I love carpeted restaurants. We love the lamb chops, and when they have it whole snapper - yum. The young ones love the pad thai. It's all pretty good quality.

Tried Little Thailand as our usual place is closed for January. Some parts of meal were fabulous, others disappointing. Tofu entree and tom yum rice both really tasty and I'd happily have them over and over but the penang beef was the worst I've ever had - very few vegetables or even herbs (just a couple of bits of capsicum) and lots of chewy beef. Maybe we ordered too late in the evening 8pm?

We took the family out for dinner at our favourite Thai restaurant in Canberra. Every dish was beautiful and the Thai Milk Tea was a dream. We ordered the fire prawns and padthai (the go to dishes) squid, soft shell crab, seafood, chicken cups and curry puffs with a side of the most perfect fried rice ... all for less then $38 a head. We didn't agree on the winning dish (we all had our own favourite) but we unanimously agreed that the Little Thailand restaurant is 5 stars ... might bring the parents next time.

Ordered online. Called the resto 17 minutes after the estimated delivery time only to know that our food was sitting at the resto waiting for the delivery person. When I asked for the estimated time of delivery, I was told that they don't know. Are you kidding me? And when I told him that I hope it won't take 30 minutes more for it to be delivered coz the food won't be hot anymore, he said, "Sorry, we'll do our best." I am sorry too but I will never order again and will never recommend it to anyone. If you cannot cope with your delivery orders the don't accept home deliveries. We ordered a crispy chicken for crying out loud! Called again 30 min after my first call and I was told that it's on its way and will arrive in 7 min. Delivery came in 10 min after my 2nd call. Food was cold, crispy chicken tasted funny and 2nd bite my husband discovered hair. Chicken wings was dry and for almost 50 bucks, that's a total waste of money! Would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Unfortunately very poor Thai. Number one problem is the chicken, it's like Chinese kind of chicken mostly fatty sinew bits, really really bad. And the food lacks any sort of Thai spice or flavour. One of the worst Thai food we have had, and we eat it very often all around the world. Please fix your produce quality and enhance flavour

Only ever ordered takeaway but love the massaman (big, succulent chunks of beef). The delivery person has always been very polite, too.

Whenever I want a red duck curry, this is where I go! So good with coconut rice, I have dined in and had food delivered from here many times and have never been disappointed.

It was ok. Entrees tasty, but the mains didn't quite meet expectations. The ambiance was average, carpeted floors, so a good warm feel and easy conversation. Take the tacky posters of the wall and replace with some authentic Thai art would improve. One waiter was particularly good, but the other come across as a little aggressive. Might give it another go, but might not.

Great food and lovely staff - tamarind duck was the real deal - tangy and spicy with perfectly cooked duck. Angel Fire prawns - of course. Amazing if you can get past the flames....will be returning soon to try the Yum Woon Sen!

Angel prawn is the only dish worth trying among three dishes we ordered. Angel prawns were served individually on a serving spoon with white sauce and herb. Taste good and balanced flavour.

Amazing and authentic Thai food. We have been there a number of times and we keep coming for more! Our favourites (and recommended) are Beef Massaman and Duck Tamarind :)

Sadly disappointing. Ordered the pad thai, tamarind duck and salt and pepper squid. For the price, we were expecting a decent meal but none of the dishes were exciting or bursting with that Thai flavour we are used to. The tamarind duck was over-cooked, sauce was overly sweet to the point that it was the only flavour coming through. The squid was not impressive as it literally looked and tasted like the cooks had tossed some frozen squid into some batter and into some hot oil and topped it off with heaped servings of salt and pepper. Pad thai was "nice" but nothing I couldn't make at home - it lacked the true flavour that I was used to from restaurants in Adelaide.

Sad to say I won't be visiting again.

Nice Pad Thai. Been here a few times, usually quiet and the staff are very friendly.

First time around we had fried rice with beef which wasn't excellent so we stick to other meats now (mostly chicken).

Satay sticks were delicious as was the pad thai.

My curiosity got the best of me with the 'Pink Lady' drink, I still don't know what it is but it was VERY sweet.

Very authentic Thai food. Service a little slow but food was worth the wait, thanks.

Beef Massamun and grilled chicken. I like mussamun dish. It was so special taste of traditional thai beef stew. Panang chicken was another recommeded dish. Grilled chicken was fantastic taste. They match with thai lemond tea. Sometimes, I ask for orange thai tea which is not on the menu. This tea is so unique. It is mixed by Thais only.

The restaurant is busy and popular (possibly due to the deals) but service was still timely and helpful . The house red wine was very good and it’s a bargain at $5 a glass. While flavours were not exceptional serve sizes were generous and well priced, making the meal excellent value.
