Review 38 Espresso - Canberra

I don't think these guys had a particularly good day today but I can only rate the experience I had. It took forever for our food to come. The gentleman who finally served it said they had 'kitchen issues'. Pancakes were really undercooked...still in batter form. The 'scrambled eggs' where dotted white runny white parts indicating that this has not been beaten properly and there was no sign of cream or flavour. My wife's eggs had a giant long hair in it. The gentleman came and did ask how our food was in a way he was expecting the worst and we were honest in our feedback but for the price and what we got, I would dissapointingly not go back here 😔

Our food was garbage! The food was cold when it was served to us. The toast was burnt and cold and the scrambled eggs were BLACK as they were so burnt. The coffee was bitter and again COLD. When you come for brunch on a Canberra morning when it’s 2 degrees, you want a hot meal and drink. This was pathetic! Won’t be back and will tell anyone who will listen not to bother

Good coffee and pretty good food. The location is excellent right on the waterfront. Lovely place on a sunny day. Has a stand selling bacon and egg rolls outside which are a good cheap option. Friendly service. The place has a nice buzz.

Good food. But a bit slow service. I dont mean that in a rude way. May be they were busy. However, coffee could have been better. Cheers

Breakfast a bit overpriced for such a small simple dish.coffee is good and location is perfect. Wouldn't go back however.

Great coffee, excellent mushrooms 🍄 on toast and quick and attentive service. No fresh juices!

Just bought this wrap $14 and added Haloumi for $4. Not worth the $$ so thin and hardly any filling inside. Unable to attach a pic otherwise I would 😔

You'll love this place if you're a vegan. Coffee not as good as those from Bean & Table (next door). Food better

After being unable to find a place in other Foreshore venues we easily found a spot in 38 Espresso. I ordered the smashed egg on rye with bacon and was greeted with uncooked egg white oozing off the bread on to the plate and through the bacon. Nevertheless, the staff member advised that's how they are supposed to be cooked. I guess then they are trying to be exotic in some way but this result does not reflect the menu description. My untouched meal went to the bin while I went elsewhere for breakfast. The old adage may be true in avoiding venues with little custom.

Very good coffee - long black and the granola yoghurt fruit breakfast is hard to beat. Friendly and engaging staff and the coffee mindmap is an artwork in itself. Come and check it out. Oh and did I mention the location and views :)

Great friendly place that is cyclist friendly and open early. Although it must be the last café in Canberra not to offer lactose free milk!

Great coffee and the best set-up I have come across in a cafe for your dog - a trampoline bed and a water bowl.

Great coffee and mocha and the best blueberry pancakes I've ever tasted with the nice outdoor dog friendly setting. We'll be back for sure!!

I was happy to come across this dog freindly cafe, my Doberman was very welcome they also supplied a water bowl. Awesome coffee and my hubby enjoyed a delicious egg and bacon roll from the outdoor BBQ. We will be back

We had brunch here on Monday. The food was well prepared and tasty but ludicrously expensive for the small portions! I live in inner Sydney so am used to paying a fair amount for a good quality breakfast, but I was shocked to pay $20 for one piece of toast with avocado and a small coffee. My partner asked for avocado and fetta as sides to his eggs and at $4 each received literally 2 teaspoons worth of each. So his one piece of toast + small scrambled eggs + teaspoon sized sides ended up costing over $20. Surely you can be a bit more generous with the portions for the price you're charging?

Awesome egg'n'bacon rolls (mine with avocado) and a brilliant cappuccino in a tasteful setting. With water views. In Canberra! Will be back.
