Review Edgar's Inn - Canberra

Highly recommend The Terrace for great seafood and BBQ. The melt-in-mouth tuna tartare was the highlight for me. We sat at the bar to watch the cooking action. Very engaging team but be warned you'll get very hot! I would have liked a hook under the bar for my handbag but a small complaint for an otherwise incredible 'pub' meal!

I'm referring only to the bar upstairs. 5 stars for ambience and expertly assembled decor like a speakeasy which is on trend right now. And the wine list is extensive and even I cluded not 1 but 2 Priorat wines from Spain and lots of variety from Australia and old world regions (for a short wine list). Food was good charcuterie boards at a function so can't comment if menu or food.

I want to go to Edgar’s more, because it has a great local pub feel to it, but the menu options for vegans are pretty bad. I had the cauliflower salad, that was mostly spinach leaves, hardly any pieces of cauliflower and was more like a side salad than a main. I went home hungry.

Checked in for dinner last moment, asked for a table for two, the hostess managed to find a spot for us and then we enjoyed THE BEST BEEF TAGLIATELLE in our 4,5 years dining out in Australia! Wish I had taken a picture, but was too good to wait for the whole dish! 100% homemade taste, the beef pieces were melting in the mouth, the pasta was as it should, not overcooked and just the right quantity of grated cheece, maybe it was Pecorrino, not sure, but it was great!

Located in the heart of the Ainslie shops on the corner, this cafe pub offers meals from early breakfast through to dinners. You could easily spend all day eating and drinking here whilst having a good catch up with family and friends. There is parking at the front and rear of the shops as well along the side streets. Seating is available indoors and out. Outdoors is under a permanent umbrella with patio blinds and heated on cool days. You certainly won't be cold sitting outside. On this occasion meals were a little average. the Edgar's breakfast appeared sufficiently supplied though was a tad bland. Similar with the chia pudding. The chia pudding was good and recently presented though missing that pizzazz you might find elsewhere. The texture had a crunch of the toasted coconut offset the softness of the chia seeds. However the berries itself was not enough to provide zing to the pudding. Perhaps a little maple syrup, granola or infusing the seeds in more ingredients. Meals were still enjoyable though and staff are friendly.

My second time here in as many days for drinks. The first time, I had a non alcoholic drink. The second time, we were just "fuelling up" on some Sangria as we couldn't afford the matched wines at Pilot. It's just beautiful at night. I still haven't been able to get in to see what Wakefield's upstairs looks like. The first time it was full, and today (Tuesday) it was closed.

My wife and I visited on a Monday evening. We stumbled upon this gem, The design is well thought out and as a result was bustling. The beer was ice cold and my wife had champagne. I got the scotch fillet which was cooked to perfection the veges fresh and crisp. My wife got the southern fried chicken burger which she said the flavour was perfect. The service was first class and then we attended the quiz competition. We have a great time and we will make a habit of returning.

Great place, food and service always efficient. Staff are gorgeous and that chef was definitely sent from heaven. Children and pets friendly. You can find a quiet space if you need it or meet your mob after work. Just continues to outperform expectation. Had fabulous Neal there with my nephew after a day that was very busy and demanding. Restored by food and chilled, laidback energy. Nephew thoroughly enjoyed dinner with Aunt. Thank you people

We have just had an excellent dinner at Edgars, great food and great service. On top of this...our car broke down in the car park and the boys at Edgars helped push it into a better spot and were happy to have my husband to sit in the nice warm pub and watch footy whilst they cleaned up. Terrific food, thoughtful and kind staff.. Feeling very lucky to have Edgars as our favourite pub

I came for lunch yesterday and Geez what an experience I had. The lovely staff members greeted me and my friends on arrival. The coffee made by the red headed staff member was absolutely exceptional and the addition of furphy's on tap is a great touch. I am going to put it out there the Mexican Parma was the best Parma I have ever had, a shout out to the manager for the recommendation. I will definitely be back! Thanks for the experience!!

Very nice atmosphere. Food was great and staff is lovely. With 4 very well behaved kids, it's nice to walk in a place and not be looked at as if I'm walking with satans spawns! Hot tip, the coleslaw is to die for!

Yesterday we (3x kiwis) arrived at Edgar's Inn bout 5pm and asked the barman if they were playing the super rugby at 5.30pm. They changed the station for us and we got to watch the Highlanders take on the Western Force! It was awesome!! Thanks guys! We had a meal as well, the schnitzel, and it was yum!! Would recommend to anyone to pop in and visit Edgar's Inn

My local. Love walking the pups there for great coffee. Great ordering a Special as a take-away. Please put those spiced chicken tacos on the regular menu - had them two nights in a row!

Well my favourite bar is open again after a mini upgrade. The pizza’s which we tried tonight was some of the best I have ever had and please make sure you leave room for dessert.

Great little pub in a great location. Beers are great, so is the coffee (before 10) and I have had breakfast here with family and it is fantastic. I will get there for a lunch or dinner soon - I promise

Great vibe and have a different special every night that includes a glass of wine or beer with your meal.

I love the quiet location and the cafe was excellent - not coarse like other coffees. I would recommend to others.

Our previous visit to this place about a year ago lead us back again as the food had been so good. Sadly, we were disappointed this time. The meals were reasonable pub grub but not a patch on the previous ones.

Staff are always super friendly - love the buffalo chicken wings!

Had a lovely relaxing breakfast. Eggs Benny brilliant. Pancakes needed more syrup. All round a very nice experience

Great spot with so much potential - could have been an off night for the staff.

When you pay $24 for a schnitzel, chips and salad I think it is fair to expect a decent sized meal of a good quality. I would estimate there was $2 worth of overcooked chicken 3mm thick deep fried in Woolies brand breadcrumbs. Chips were undercooked. Gravy had nice flavour and the salad was fresh.
If you like getting a decent feed at a fair price, I wouldn't recommend going here. I think your local takeaway would prepare the same quality schnitzel for $8 on a roll.
Went here with my parents, gluten free girlfriend and 9 year old brother: recipe for disaster, however the gf burger was unreal, atmosphere is great and range of drinks is excellent. No kids menu = no worries, nachos sorted the little one out. Next time we are in Canberra we’ll be popping in! Love the vibe Edgar’s Inn!!

Wonderful bar / bistro what the folks at Ainslie refer to as their “local”! Had a nice relaxing evening with the crew sipping on Coke 0 and munching on salt n peppa squids.

Just an amazing, delicious experience!! Staff, atmosphere and food is just awesome; so glad we stopped on our way through to Perisher - the gluten-free bread was the best I’ve ever had.

Loved the coffee and the food just what we needed sitting back and watching the world go by.Really friendly staff and lovely and clean even when it was really busy will be sure to return thanks guys

Good pub location. Great outdoor area, reasonable alcohol selection and good menu. Nachos and sweet potatoes were nice. Service was also good. Prices reasonable

I’ve been here a few times and it’s been good but today’s experience was really average. Breakfast of bacon and eggs was okay but the bacon was barely cooked and the toast soggy. My large coffee was so weak I asked the waitress (who was lovely) for an extra shot and she offered to make it again. I said no worries an extra shot will fix it. She then went inside and came back out and asked for 50cents for the extra shot when the coffee was pretty terrible to begin with. The barista clearly decided it was not their fault. Not great service and now they won’t be getting repeat business from me

Went for lunch with friends and I ordered fish and chips. The fish was very dry and pretty awful, the salad on the side was swimming in dressing. The food was very overpriced for a poor quality meal.

Adorable little local pub in what appears to be a very residential area. This place was suggested to us to visit while on a trip to Canberra and when driving towards the place thought we'd gotten the wrong directions. Cosy family ambience with possibly the best hot wings I've ever tasted!

I have been to Edgar's Inn on a few occasions now - mostly when I have been with my dog who I have been trying to socialise after rescuing him. Normally the guys who work on the coffee machine are very accommodating and let me order my take away coffee at the window despite the sign asking people to order inside as I have explained to them I am with my dog and I can't tie him up because he is very anxious and a little bit frightened. However I have not received the same kind reception from the female who works there who rudely dismissed me today and told me to tie him up and order inside or she won't serve me - thanks for the terrible service and pathetic attitude. I won't be returning to this place again!
Underwhelming, over priced food that presents a large disappointment given the high price. North of $20 for a burger is a big ask and this one certainly fails to impress. Long wait times, edgy staff and bad acoustics make for a somewhat stressful dining experience. Stick to the outside covered benches and the shoestring fries to whet the appetite.

Good value local pub, recommend going on Monday- Wednesday for a good value meal. Nice selection of beer and friendly staff. Can get very busy but they pump out the food fast

Lovely little pub in Ainslee. Great little pub near Wakefield Gardens. Great seating outside, perfect for the current weather. Food was spot on for pub fare. It was schnitzel night when we stopped by, nice and cheap and could have easily spent the whole night in the outdoor seating out front. Well worth stopping by, a little gem indeed.

Food was served almost cold and was tasteless. Coffee was nice, service was on the wrong side of average, but the food was especially disappointing.

Not what it used to be. It was always overpriced pub food before, but now even more so. Our choir used to visit for brunch every Sunday after mass, but not any more...
Kate Charlton
Nice pub feel - rare in Canberra. Good burgers, schnitzels and the buffalo wings are amazing!

Very North Canberra. I have been to Edgar's a few times and I've really enoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant/bar itself is quite small, however the outside dining area is the perfect place to catch up with friends for a drink and some of the BEST beer-battered chips in Canberra during the warmer months.

Is it just me... Or the steak at Edgars is not as awesome as before?

Nestled into the corner of the Ainslie shops Edgars Inn, boasts a warm and relaxed pub atmosphere. I had tried to indulge in brunch here once before, just to realise that it is only served on a weekend. On Saturday mid morning we had showed up with rumbling stomachs and high hopes. We sat outside in the alfresco dinning, bizarre to me but most patrons were sat inside or in the shade so the seats in the glow of the sunshine were ready for the taking. There were menus already on the table and once you were ready you just went up to the bar to order. There was a good brunch selection at all very reasonable prices, I would even go as far to say cheap! Friend decided on a classic eggs benedict and I decide to try the Spanish Omelette. After patiently waiting in line to order I returned back into the sunshine. Our coffees were served; I didn’t get a chance to snap a photo of them as Puppy practically jumped onto the table to guzzle it. Looking woeful as I would not let him have any caff
