I walked in on a Sunday afternoon to smiles and fantastic old fashioned friendly service.
The pie I had was absolutely top notch.
I plan to pop by again whenever I'm in the area.
After reading some reviews I knew I had to make my way out here during my lunch break. Parking around in the area was scarce but it didn't take too long to get a spot close by. It was a Wednesday lunch time and there wasn't a lot of people in the place. I was greeted in a very friendly manner and was more than happy with the customer service. I ended up ordering a Pepper Sheppards pie which I chose to takeaway but noticed there was free sauce and cutlery in the place. I love how they even accepted credit card as payment with no minimum purchase. The pie was cheesy on top, a lovely mince and sauce. It was warm to hot when served. What I loved was that it was homely, wholesome and hearty. Though the pie prices are higher than your norm... I think you really pay for the quality. The pastry isn't the best but it makes up for it with the filling and cheesy tops. I'd definitely be returning to try their other options!
Potato topped or macaroni cheese pies of many varieties are wonderfully unique and delicious.
The sign claims these are award winning pies so I thought I'd stop and have a quick lunch. Quite a few pies were already gone when I got there around 1pm. The different types of pies include chilli con carne, beef stroganoff, pepper chicken, curry steak, chunky pepper steak and more. Prices range from $4.90 to $5.90 each. I decided on the steak, onion, tomato and potato pie ($5.90). This was awesome - the steak was chunky and tasted great, the gravy was delicious, and the potato (hidden underneath the cheese) was fluffy and light - I loved how there was lots of it. I wanted more! One of the best pies I've had in Canberra. Yum! Foodgasm 7.5/10
Nice little pie shop, plenty of outdoor seating which was very clean, very friendly staff. Huge selection of pie flavours, chicken parmy pie was divine chicken and mushroom pie was tasty creamy and filling. Plenty of parking nearby.
Good Canberra pies. Chunky pepper steak goes really good. Will go back and try to potato pie range.
Too many amazing pies to choose from!! Every single pie I have had from here was amazingly good, no sauce required! The best pies and best range of different flavours I have ever had!
Has to be in the top 2 of the best pie shops in Canberra.
You can't beat a homemade pie. Especially with the extensive range that they make, genuinely impressive, with large amount of veggo options.
The staff are always awesome and polite. They make you feel very welcome and are very used to people needing time to make a choice with such a large range.
Certainly a must for foodies and pie lovers alike.
Perhaps the best and most comprehensive gourmet pie shop in the country!
I first discovered Elaine's when I was sent down to Canberra for a course and the instructors suggested that pie shop for lunch. Well, for pretty much the rest of the month, we were visiting Elaine's every second day as we worked our way through their extensive selection of pies!
My number one recommendation for anyone visiting Canberra is to drop on by and grab a pie or two from Elaine's. I always do!
Got there close to closing time, but still amazing pies. Staff were so friendly!
Easily the best pies in Canberra. Great value too
