Review Catch Fish & Chips - Canberra

Great fish and chips (especially by Canberra standards!) in a relaxed casual atmosphere. I had snapper with chips. The serving size was perfect for me and the batter was light and not greasy. The outdoor seating area had plenty of shade and some ceiling fans.

The classic fish and chips, what could go wrong? I also liked the little diner vibe they had although not much seating inside, more of a takeaway. My friend was able to purchase one of their shirts because it looked so cool!

In a city that is very absent of fish and chips places, it is great to see somewhere new that not only delivers but does it with excellence. The atmosphere is splendid, a licenced venue with a good array of outdoor seating. Fine details like capers in the tartare sauce and malt vinegar add awesomeness to what could otherwise be a stock standard joint. The fish is fresh and the staff super friendly. Whenever I'm in town looking for my fish fix, I now know where to go.

My personal favourite barramundi fish grilled. Other then that very nice place especially they have seating arrangement outside on Lonsdale street

Went here for the first time, OMFG, this joint has to be one of the best fish n chips in town, love the chill atmosphere, they served ours fresh with a greek salad... deeeeelish... Our go to fish n chips place from now on...

Big variety of fish. The only problem is that everything is really oily, even the grill. The prices are relatively high for the food quality.

We ordered two fish slices and one chips, one potato cake to share between 2 adults. The fish was fresh and cooked well, better than some other ACT fish & chips shops. one serving chips was enough for two people. It also has a nice eating out area. Only negative side is the price, $18 per piece fish was expensive. Overall, thumb up.

I don't normally do reviews but WOW!!! There is no need to go to the Bay anymore to get great Fish and Chips. Large serves, and without a doubt the freshest fish I have ever had in Canberra. The fish had a light batter and was served with fresh cut / cooked chips, along with an amazing tartar sauce, superb!

I really wouldn't recommend this place. It survives because of its location, not the food it sells. It's expensive, pretentious and average. Avoid if you value your money.

Don’t go here!!! Fish is definitely NOT fresh, we couldn’t eat it. Not sure which country the fish comes from, not labelled. What we had was the snapper. Calamari rings were not fresh and crunchy. Probably the worst fish n chips I have ever had. Aioli / tartare sauce was the only good thing.

Complete let down. Only in Canberra visiting , this was a huge opportunity cost 😓 given what other yummy stuff we could’ve eaten 😭
Popular spot at 6pm on a Saturday. The seating area is shared with Grease Monkey so you could order at either of the joints. There is a bar to order drinks in the middle of the courtyard- great idea! Thought the prices were a little high, however food was good and filling. Asian slaw salad very fresh and has a chilli kick! Warning to those who can't handle chilli. Chips and potato scallops were crispy. Being vegetarian I didnt try the fish but my partner gave the snapper a thumbs up.

This is one of few seafood outlets that doesn't label the fish; imported/local which I believe is mandatory for raw fish. I had the takeaway grilled snapper with salad. The fish was firm and tasty which indicates freshness, on the other hand the greek salad was also fresh so all in all pleased with the taste, loss of points were for the labeling and some poor customer service from the manager on duty.

Finally, little bit disappointed they offer takeaway but dont provide salt & pepper sachets.

Catch is a trendy fish and chips shop in Braddon. The fish and chips serving that I had was huge and could have easily fed 2 people. It was $15 for the fish and chips and you can choose from chips or salad. I also had some oysters kilpatrick and they were fresh and creamy. They have chicken salt shakers on the table which I absolutely love! It's a great spot for some fresh or cooked seafood or some burgers. You could sit in the outdoor space of grab it to go and sit in the park or by the lake.

We had dined at ‘Grease Monkey’ yesterday, so we thought to give ‘Catch’ a go.
It was a well lit, spacious takeaway/ dine in store. The music was great, family friendly and pet friendly environment.
The fish and chips were crunchy and tasty. The fish burger was filling and well put together.
There’s a salt/chicken salt shaker and malt vinaigrette at each table. A nice complimentary for each dish.
Well done ! Yummmm

Tried the standard fish and chips (hake) and was disappointed. Chips were not very crisp and the fish was littered with bones. The batter used was not too thick which was good. For $16 it is way overpriced but I guess this is Canberra.

Would rather drive to Bateman’s Bay to get my fish and chips fix.

Pretty cute interior with rather romantic playlist hahahahaha It felt really weird getting a fresh fish and chips like 3 hours away from the beach but it was overall pretty noice. I'd say the portion was a bit smaller than your typical fish nd chips🐟 but good addition to variety of Canberra city's restaurants. You can also substitute chips with greek salad or asian-slaw ☺️

The fish was crispy and fresh. It was really crowded but overall the food and service was good. This is one of the first meal I ate in Canberra and it just gave me a good vibe.

Went here on friday night. Got a really good feed of fish and chips. We had flathead - not flathead tails, flathead. It was huge. Crispy and fresh. Potato cakes (or scallops as they call them in this neck of the woods) were good. Made a hog of myself and ordered a cheeseburger as well. It was tasty. No complaints here. We will be back. BEST FISH AND CHIPS IN CANBERRA to date.

Fish and Chips were mediocre. But their scallops were cooked to perfection every single time - tried it 4 times! Would also highly recommend their grilled calamari
