Review Cisco's Retaurante Mexicano - Canberra

Friendly staff who are so helpful, I don’t eat meat and neither my partner or I have dairy but they were totally happy to work out the best options for us. We’ve been twice now, I had the baked enchilada the first time and the burrito the second. So glad to have a place like this around the corner.

So damn good. Service was efficient, friendly and fast. Meals were so tasty and satisfying - really hit the spot! Can't believe it took me this long to find authentic tex mex here in Canberra. Will definitely be recommending this place to family and friends. Well worth the visit.

An absolute must visit restaurant; and when you go once, it’ll be calling you back every time you think of eating out. I cannot tell you enough how much I enjoyed my time here. The staff are all just absolutely fantastic and so warm and friendly! The food was absolutely amazing, I was hesitant when my friend pulled me in saying $6 Taco, lets do it! We walked in, was seated and provided with water immediately. The owner loves to come out for a chat, and just has the warmest and friendliest smile and demeanour. We got the $6 tacos as a start alongside a bottle of the house Cabernet Merlot and and I was absolutely astonished at how terrific my taco was! (All I can think about is going back for another taco). After a while of some perusing of the menu, again I wasn’t sure about it being Mexican food and wasn’t sure I’d like any mains; but I decided to get the Baked Chicken Burrito. Now I don’t usually have any qualms about saying negative things, but I have nothing negative to say here. Absolutely nothing! The food was fabulous, I enjoyed every single bite and when I couldn’t finish the large portion of food I had to ask for a takeaway container so that the scraps of left wouldn’t go to waste; that’s how obsessed I was with getting that burrito in me! (I ended up eating it at midnight after I got home) Now I’m a loud person, a very loud person, and the owner approached me saying that some customers did find me a little bit loud, I had absolutely no animosity about reigning myself in; as I said I know I can be a loud outspoken person, so I did and I was so impressed by the way he approached me, without giving me any animosity or anything. The owners customer service is beyond comparison for restaurants in the Kingston/Manuka area and I would go there again over ANY place in the Foreshore (having tried most) and any other place in Kingston or Manuka for one of the most well priced, enjoyable feeds you could possibly want. If you’re looking for good food, good wine, good company and good service; all I can say is Cisco will provide in every single way.

A good selection of food but very average taste. The chicken was dry and the beans didn't have much flavour.

Pretty good for a Mexican place. Staff were friendly and food was Swift and tasty.

I really wanted to like this place i love mexican and like to try new places often. The atmospeher was great the staff very friendly but unfortunately the food was very average. The entrees were good but the mains were not. I went with a vegetarian friend the veg burrito was just Mexican beans nothing else in it very bland with a small amout of sauce on top no avocado or anything else more beans on the side and some rice. The chicken enchilada was simmilar with chicken brest and nothing else very plain inside some green sauce mexican beans on the side and rice sorry to say it was not enjoyable

This is not good Mexican. It is bland, has no flavor, and doesn’t at all taste fresh. After eating here I looked up reviews and saw there were many people who felt similar. I can only hope they see these reviews and have a look at the food they are producing. Staff are lovely and pleasant.

A perfect experience; the food is exquisite and the drinks are so satisfying! I will be back!

Service was quick, everyone was very happy with their meals, we had the fajitas, prawn and Carizo burrito, nachos and burrito bowl. Biggest selection of tequila I’ve seen in Canberra too. Not sure how Zomato figured out the $$$$ indication when all of the meals are around $20.

Let's be honest... this is not an authentic Mexican restaurant... it's your typical Aus-Mex Ol' El Paso style restaurant.
I went there for a Saturday lunch with a group. The place was quiet and subdued but the staff were friendly and attentive.
The menu consisted of multiple variations of the standard tacos, burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas... plus Dave Nelson spare ribs!
I had a seafood burrito which was tasty and favorsome but the accompanying refried beans were straight from the can and the rice may have been from a packet as well.
The one brought point was that they had Modelo beer, which was quite surprising and thoroughly enjoyed.
It's a real shame that Canberra does not have a 'real' Mexican restaurant that makes tortillas fresh on-site, serves authentic rice and beans, and delivers something beyond the predictable, such as tamales, carnitas, cerviche, molè sauce, etc.
That said... this is a good value restaurant if you want a flavorful meal that delivers the typical Mexican staples without being overly adventurous.
I would really love this place to step up and improve their menu beyond the predictable.

My wife and I had dinner at this place and were both disgusted with the service. The food was satisfactory but the staff need replacing or training. One waitress spent most of the time on her phone outside, another spent a large amount of time boring a patron with her xmas camping plans while we sat with empty drink glasses. We requested a drink while we waited for a meals and I had to retreive it from the bar because both waiters were socializing with the chef. We have tried tbis place 4 times over a period but will never go back.

Went with a large group of friends, the food was AWFUL! The vegetarian filling in the chimichanga was mushed beans (probably straight from the can) and on the side the put more beans as if it wasn't enough, the rice was dried and not seasoned, and when I complained about the lack of vegetables, they brought me salad and guess what? the salad had beans in it! it was a joke. My partner had a vegetarian burrito filled with beans as well with beans on the side. My point is there was no variety food wise, no research on what Mexican food is about and a total misrepresentation of it.Other people in the group was also disappointed with their dishes. The decor was of bad taste and no effort was put into it. It's a disgrace to Mexican food and culture. The prices were too high for what you get. Nothing positive about it.

Very dissapointing experience at Cisco's Restaurante. Drinks are served warm and service was average at best. Not a single smile was seen on any staff members face the entire evening. Not a nice atmosphere at all.

Was a big fan of Francisco's and was devastated when it closed but was ecstatic when Cisco's opened a year later. We've been 3 or 4 times and have always had an excellent experience.

My wife and I are big foodies and we've been looking for the perfect Mexican joint in Canberra, so when we heard of Cisco's in Kingston we were quite excited to give it a try.

We went to Cisco's on a Friday night with no booking and the staff were very friendly and accommodating, they found us a table even though they were relatively busy. They have indoor and outdoor dining (the outdoor dining is inside a see-through canopy ) we were seated inside, the tables were clean and the staff were over straight away with water and menus.

The atmosphere- I feel like it lacked what makes a Mexican restaurant great, the music was so quiet that you could hear people crunching tacos. The restaurants styling wasn't great either, when I think of (Western inspired) Mexican restaurants I think of dull lighting, dark uneven paint on the walls and bulk candles.

Entree- For the Entree we ordered the Con Queso, A cheesy dip served with a more than generous serving of corn chips, This dip was nice, had a great taste and was very filling for an Entree.

Main 1- Nachos, it normally comes with Minced beef, I believe this to be a travesty, especially when Shredded beef is a thing! They had no problem with us ordering the shredded beef instead of the minced beef. The Nachos were delicious, the corn chips stayed crunchy, the beef was tender and slightly spicy, there was plenty of cheese too which are all big ticks.

Main 2- Enchiladas, there are different options for the Enchiladas I ended up going with two beef. I'm glad i went with two as they're quite small. I was expecting them to come with shredded beef but it ended up being more like slow cooked steak strips, these were quite nice and a bit different to what i was expecting. The dish comes served with Mexican rice and refried beans, the rice was quite bland and the refried beans seemed as through they could've been from the tin.

Overall the majority of the food was tasty, the meals came out quite quickly. They have a good drink selection. The staff were helpful and accommodating, However the restaurant lacked the atmosphere I was hoping for and some of the food was bland.

Excellent atmosphere. Above average service. Waitstaff go the extra mile for you. The food is excellent and the owner is a legend. Always making sure everyone is happy even on a busy Saturday night.

I went last night with my grandmother and 2 other guests (5 in total). From the moment I made the booking through to the end of our meal the staff were friendly and accommodating. I mentioned during my booking my grandmothers mobility issues and a few other things and when we arrived they had ensured a table with clear easy access and a cushioned sturdy chair for her. Even down to taking orders they were attentive and friendly (without being patronising or condescending that sometimes happens when people talk to someone elderly). Anyone who treats my Nanna nicely is top on my list.

The food was delicious! We shared a small beef nachos and a quesadilla for entree - the nachos were massive (considering they were a small) and we were practically full by mains! I had the chicken fajitas for main and they were fresh and very tasty. Everyone really enjoyed their food and it was all very reasonably priced considering how full we all were at the end!

They allow BYO wine at $5 a bottle so we brought our own, so I can't comment too much on the drinks menu - but we loved everything and had a fantastic night! Many thanks to all the staff :)

Eaten here twice now with major issues both times. First time I bought the expensive seafood burrito, came out about 10 mins after everyone else's mains and was cold in the middle. Second time our waiter brought the bill to us after our entree, having completely forgotten our mains, meaning we then had to wait another 20 mins for our main meal (meaning about a 45 min break between entrees and mains). Service is slow. All the waiters are absolutely useless (except one girl who seems to know what she's doing). I feel bad writing this as I feel the owner/host works really hard to create a good experience but the wait staff and kitchen really let it down. Highlight is that the beef nachos are good, otherwise the rest of the food is average at best..

Me and my husband were big fans of Francisco's Mexican in Manuka, so we were happy to learn that they've re-opened in Kingston after closing for almost a year. Even though our first couple of experiences eating at the new & re-branded Cisco's was not as good as the meals we had at Francisco's, but the third time we were there, the flavours are back. Highly recommended if you're looking for authentic & good quality Mexican food, and not the toned down fast food or hipster versions. Recommended dishes: Pork Ribs, Nachos, Cisco's Platter, Spicy Quesadilla, seafood burrito.

Some friends and I headed to Cisco’s Restaurante Mexicano in Kingston after walking past it a few weeks ago. Seeing as there aren’t may Mexican food options in Canberra, it was a must try for blogging purposes. We were there for Sunday lunch where there was only one other table of diners in the establishment. The inside is decked out in kitsch Mexican prints, sombreros and a random mannequin wearing a poncho, mo and sombrero. We were thankful for the air conditioning since it was one of those 40 degree days.

Amazing food. We had the Cisco Platter (1 x Burrito, 1 x Enchilada and 1 x Spicy Meatball with rice) Both of us loved it. It was very spicy but in a good way. We took my partners little brother and he struggled a bit but I think that was because his tastebuds are very plain at the moment. (he had the traditional tacos) We both tried the traditional tacos and it was so good. Amazing food, great service and wonderful cocktails.
