Review Kickstart Expresso - Canberra

This was my first experience after recommendation to try this place. It is a very clean place and the staff were exceptionally kind however I just did not have a good experience. The whole dodge the cars and hope you don't die isn't great but the computer only placed one of my coffees through the order, I definitely should have noticed from the price but I am fairly ignorant when it comes to my first time trying an establishment. The batista made my second coffee straight away, I actually received the coffee before the computer could sort itself out for me to pay. This caused a line of people waiting to form and don't forget that it's literally a laneway for cars so it was huge hazard. Coffee was amazing but the banana bread 😂 I feel like I am being kind leaving it at the worst banana bread we have ever had in our lives (with the butter and cutlery forgotten in my takeaway bag). The Banana and Milk Chocolate muffin was really nice but it wasn't enough to return.

Like finding an old penny in the sand, this little cafe made my day feel very lucky, like the penny, you can tell the experience and worked in character of this hotspot! People constantly passing through for some wholesome grub and an even more wholesome bit of chit chat with the friendly team while they preciously cradle their delicious beverage. The owner Liat, or Leah, was very kind, especially in our slightly emotionless COVID living, giving details on the menu through the extras and adaptations that can be done for food and drinks. I got my spot in line and no sooner than it takes to sing Humpty Dumpty, I had my hot ‘DirtySoyChaiLatte’ and scrumy Banana Bread! Look out for this shop, although it’s just a hole in the wall, the trailed line of customers is a dead give away of its hiding spot!!

Best latte I've had in 3 years! Bloody beautiful!

Hole in the wall coffee shop in the heart of Dickson. Friendly and quick service with a really good cup of coffee to match.

Surly service and only above-average coffee, makes me not want to return. Try your luck elsewhere. What a shame Sfoglia is gone...

Hands down the best coffee in Canberra. Great food too, and the staff are excellent.

Are you looking for some really decent coffee and tasty food stuffs without having to dip into the devils drive through that is Maccas? If you live in Canberra or you're just passing through on a road trip I can't recommend this place enough. The "not so humble" toasty is delicious and the service is top-notch.

Nice owners, good staff, great coffee, genuine home made slices and biscuits the old fashioned country way.....................................

If you are specific with your coffee order, the coffee outcome is excellent. Their bacon and egg and roasted tomato Turkish bread is a divine way to start the day. The #earlyCBR opening is welcome.

From the minute we stepped inside, the three people behind the counter chatted to us, joked with us and were just friendly without any wankiness you can get at a lot of cafes in Canberra!
Coffee was solid, bacon and egg roll yummy, and the added extra of a little slice of cake on top of our coffees was a nice touch.
The loyalty card system kept on file is a good idea, and I can imagine how this place will build up a loyal following and have their regulars, who purely come back for the friendly service.

Hidden away behind Subway on Woolley Street in Dickson is Kickstart Espresso, a new cafe offering Toby’s Estate coffee, breakfast toasties and bacon and egg rolls, smoothies and healthy sandwiches and rolls. You’ll notice the cushioned wooden crates and beautiful wooden tables outside. The wooden furnishings continue inside decorating the front counter. The cafe is tiny with only two small tables that fit inside. The outback theme is prominent with rusted metal sheeting lining the bottom of one wall and the R.M. Williams signage. I do like the small pieces that decorate the place. The front counter has goodies such as muffins and biscuits from the Byron Bay Cookie Company. The menu lists coffee prices, breakfast options and other specials. I decided on the breakfast special of a bacon and egg roll + smoothie for $15. My choice of smoothie was the Red Berry with strawberry, banana, yogurt, maple syrup, skim milk and cinnamon. The smoothie would’ve been better with ice as it got warm very quickly. I was asked what sauce I’d like with my bacon and egg roll – BBQ sauce of course! A close up of the bacon and egg roll. The bacon was slightly burnt around the edges but other than that I still enjoyed it. Service is friendly and it seems to be a family-run business. This was one of the few cafes open during the Christmas/New Year break and I noticed quite a few locals going in to grab a coffee. Kickstart Espresso is open from 6am-3pm. I forgot to ask which days but you can contact them or check out their Facebook page for more info. Foodgasm 6/10 Price 8/10 Service 8/10 FPJ score 22/30
