Review Asian Noodle House - Canberra

The Truth Seeker Files
I concur with the other reviews, the laksa is terrible (for noodle house standard) not the worst laksa I have had, by far but no where near what it should be for the noodle house brand, the soup was white not orange, no spice, just coconut milk with a dab of paste. I only went here as a last resort as dickson Asian noodle house was closed for new years day. I read the reviews and despite having had this experience there previously I was desperate for laksa so just hoped for the best, the other ingredientswere fine though the prawns didn't taste very good. Also got the seafood feed rice, the seafood was half the amount you get at the dickson one. Never going again, ONLY get your laksa from the Dickson shop!!

Wait for our food was slow. The entree that we ordered: salt and pepper squid was so dismal – it came out cold and basically store bought...WOULD NOT RECOMMEND The actual laksa and duck noodles we got were quite good but overall, not the best experience and I'm sorry to write this review :(.

Family run business and usually have seating most of the time. We went around six and the staff were quite busy doing the delivery orders, so recommend to avoid that time slot if you're going at that time. Food was good and portion sizes are decent and fair price. But similar to other franchises some locations are better than others. But in general good place to socialize if you're in the vicinity.

The food was average. Good presentation but lacking flavour wise. The fish cakes were OK, not too impressive. The laksa (I got a combination laksa) felt like the meat came out cold out of a fridge and was just unceremoniously dumped in the soup. Having said that, the soup base wasn't bad and noodles were well cooked. Overall, I have mixed feelings about the food here though...

I've been here about 4 times now but everytime has been disappointing. The food is just "Meh" at the moment, almost feels like the chefs have given up trying. But I really hope they pick up their game because several years ago we went to the one in Dickson which was amazing.

Beautiful food but so focused on meeting the needs of uber drivers that we waiting 50mins for food despite my friend already being served her laksa, there was only 6 of us in the entire restaurant but about 10 uber drivers hanging around ruining the atmosphere entirely.

While the food is normally good the service was not good here sadly. Decided to dine in and they forgot half our food so we were there for just over 1.5 hours as each of us eat and prompted them for the rest of the food and drinks (4 times in total). It seemed that the Uber/Deliveroo market was their focus with a constant groups of drivers waiting in the restaurant. This left dine in guests cramped and overlooked. It is sad that this normally great place has slipped badly. The food, when it arrived, was OK but was not up the the quality I remembered. It was not bad, just not as good.

Tasty Laksa and Jasmine tea, but felt as though the staff were only half-hearted about us being there for a quiet mid-week dinner.

Dinner with a friend at the Asian Noodle House in Belconnen πŸ’πŸΌπŸ’πŸΌ which is greatly inferior to the one in Civic πŸ‘Ž but was still quite busy. πŸ— Chicken satay skewers: The chicken was overcooked and the sauce was watery, thin, and lacked any peanutty oomph. πŸ₯— Beef tom yum salad was okay. I asked for mild, but it felt like the flavour balance was completely off and so the salad was oddly sweet. πŸ’° Food is cheap enough so I wasn't super disappointed but I don't think I would bother to go back either.

Firstly all the veggies tasted like they were "fresh out of a can", tofu was bitter, incredibly dry and chicken was dry and overcooked.

Fried rice had nothing but peas and a few bits of chicken.
Salt & Pepper Squid was like chewing a rubber mouth guard.

The sauce the veggies were presented in was awful, and tasted nothing at all like oyster sauce, we didn't eat this dish. It was indeed Not Edible!

Fortunately they had good iced coffee and curry puffs.
But certainly not worth $80.

Would not recommend, venture a little further up in Belconnen or to the churches centre for great Asian food.

Laksa is full of MSG. We definitely would not return to Asian Noodle House.
I decided to order Laksa and There are tons of MSG added in Laksa, that make me feel sick and thirsty. I started to notice bad side effects from what appeared to MSG make me headache 24 hours, vomiting and my stomach wound. They should declare that MSG is added on the menu. And, this type of MSG is also not good for kids at all. Fish cakes taste like they were made with half fish- half flour. My friend ordered Pad Thai and came with black colour noodles, it's fake and not based on tomato paste that we used to have at other restaurants. Would not recommend this ! Avoid !
Eat Canberra
I think there are four Asian Noodle House's in Canberra. I live in the Belconnen area so was happy when I heard there was one opening by Lake Ginninderra. Asian Noodle House claims to have 'The Best Laksa in Canberra'. We had tried it at Dickson before and weren't blown away by it and came to the conclusion that we'd had better in Canberra. But I can say that I think the Belconnen one has the best Laksa in Belconnen and they even deliver! Yep, delivered Laksa on a Monday night. Best ever! I love the rice paper rolls but it's pretty hard to go wrong with them. As for everything else on the menu... it's okay but I think I'll stick to the Laksa and rice paper rolls. That would be my recommendation!
Spooning Australia
I got my first review request for Canberra and was very excited, the ASIAN NOODLE HOUSE in Belconnen was keen for Spooning to come in and try out the venue, the food, the atmosphere and share thoughts and pics. Luckily a work issue arose and I needed to head to the Capital for a one night flyby and Asian Noodle House was able to fit me in. My regular Canberra dinner guests, The Schmollinghams, were split for the evening so I was lucky enough for the company of Mrs Schmollingham and the two of usΒ trotted off with wine and camera in hand.

Came here for dinner last night. Service wasn't amazing but the food was delicious. We had a vegetarian pad Thai and a vegetarian red curry. We were a bit wary of ordering pad thai at a non-Thai restaurant but were pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. The curry was very nice too. Overall it was very affordable and we will definitely return.

I would only ever get the laksa here - anything else that I or my friends have ever ordered have been pretty terrible.

Warning: one time I found a bug in the laksa soup, which was rather unpleasant considering I'd already eaten more than half the bowl. The waiter, when I told him, didn't even apologize as he took the bowl away, though he came back afterwards and offered another bowl (which I didn't accept) and didn't charge me for the laksa.

For some reason this Asian Noodle House in Belconnen is the best out of all the branches, including the original one. The laksa soup is more tasty and full of spices here, just like what I've had in Singapore or Malaysia. The location being on the lakeside is a plus point, during warmer days we could take a walk by the lake after having our meals.

The service was really bad. We asked for hot water and got ignored a few times until she finally put her whole thumb into the glass in front of us and came back with a very unclean glass of hot water.
The food was also very average. Nothing special. Will never revisit.
Canberra Gourmet
Below average. Sub par food, awful service. The worst of the Asia noodle houses in Canberra.

Food is a mixed bag, generally fairly average. The laksa is the best item on the menu. Beware the $25 minimum eftpos plus $1 surcharge.
