Review Kellys Cafe And Restaurant - Canning

First class cafe & garden centre. Meals are delicious with great friendly service. Garden centre stocks all of the best plants as well as accessories.

Friendly staff, chill ambience & great prices for their big portioned breakfasts! My brother had the Buttermilk Pancake, AMAZING. Tastes homemade and generous too on the mascarpone cheese :D

Great breakfast place near home, for those who live in canning vale. Not too dear on the pocket either, has a good variety of breakfast options.

Wide selection of meals to cover all appetites and tastes. Very enjoyable lunch. Fair prices.

Cafe was a blast from the past. Food was delicious, coffee and chai was nice and hot and service was fast and friendly. Lovely gift selection.

Came here for an early morning breakfast. This is such a nice place, very quiet and peaceful (at least on the Saturday morning when we got there). The outdoor seating is also very nice. Service was very good and prompt, the food was delicious and very well priced. I would definitely come here again...preferably for lunch or dinner, to try more of the food.

Had a coffee here . Now if your a cafe surely making a coffee can’t be that hard. First time I went it scalded my mouth. So they took it back and it came back at a reasonable temperature . Pretty average coffee. If your going to run a cafe you need to serve good coffee . What’s the point of serving terrible coffee that burns your mouth . At least get qualified people to do the job

It's an interesting place for sure. The location is amazing and love being able to go plant and antique shopping and then have a nice meal. The décor and ambience of the place is nice but the food I found a bit overpriced.

Bizarre place!! Seems to have a superiority complex - thinking they're something extra special. Reminds me of Fawlty Towers for some reason. And they've got a chip on their shoulders. Extremely unhelpful wait staff; Customers have to stand in queues at a crowded counter, pay up front then be handed a number and get pointed towards the tables. Zero table service. Food took ages to arrive.
When I eat out I use my own standard of cooking as my benchmark and I expect food to (hopefully) be better than what I serve myself at home. This place disappointed me - food very uninspiring and plain. The Garden Centre adjoining it is good though ;-)
Now - in times where a half decent local Cafe is called for I go up the road a bit to Ramons - who never disappoint. Or to Napoli Mercato for a genuine continental roll.

Beautiful garden surroundings. Nice spacious seating areas. Good variety of choices in the menu. However no drinks was listed on the menu. Cutlery was dirty, menu was printed and torn. Food took forever, my garden salad was probably the worse i've had. While eating, bins were getting emptied, so the smell was foul for a moment. Defs one and only experience.

Waited 15 min for food and coffee. Went to check up on the coffee's and barista is just standing there talking. Then food and coffee's came out out 20 min later and the eggs florentine needed a steak nife or sciccors to cut through the tuff leather bread. And were stingy on hollandaise sauce. People order eggs florentine for the runny creamy smooth sauce but the hollandaise sauce was thick like mayonaise and just drizzed on and made the meal dry.

It is pretty hard being a vegan when it comes to eating out. Most vegetarian options include cheese or eggs which I don't eat. I chose the crispy spinach salad at Kelly's for $15 with the option to add meat for $4. It was very unsatisfying on its own. Please may I suggest offering a side of chickpeas, pan baked potatoes, sweet potato or other delicious plant based foods as an added option. The venue itself is quirky and cozy and I enjoyed my visit... just left a tad hungry.

Went in for lunch on a very rainy day but was nice sitting inside. I ordered the grilled fish and salad only. Could not have the chips as they were dusted with flour. They were nice enough to put the dressing on the side for me also just in case, nice little touch. Food was nice but very over priced. Had a coffee and GF raspberry and white chocolate cupcake, which was also quite nice. Lovely service, tasty food and nice atmosphere, just a tad pricey. I paid $17 for one small coffee and 2 cupcakes. But food was GF and I did not go home unwell, no cross contamination, that's always a bonus.

Two of us went for breakfast. Nice quite sitting areas both inside & outside. Menu got plenty of options to choose from. We tried the pouched eggs breakfast with coffee. It was efficient service & breakfast was presented well by the smiling waitress.

Good spot for catching up with friends, if you are a local.

I have been here many times. The food is usually ok and coffee previously been very good too. I don't know if they have changed their coffee staff lately, but not nice coffee recently. The garden setting is lovely and peaceful.
Mimi
I go here very often to catch up with friends, and this place is never a disappointment! Great food, good size meals, friendly staff, beautiful view out in the garden! Lovely place!

The venue is lovely. The menu, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Average cost of $25 for lunch. I find that a little bit expensive for what is basically pub grub. Lots of chips on the side to fool you in to believing you have received good value. Ordered chai tea expecting a hearty warming drink only to be delivered a stainless steel teapot with a Twinings Tea Bag on the side. Bring in some cheaper lunch options, daily meal specials and see your business expand.

Went here for breakfast with extended family.
Great venue and the food was most enjoyable.
Great serving sizes and very freshly prepared.
This is the 2nd visit to Kelly's Cafe.
A group of 13 of us came to celebrate my lovely sister (in law) Vikki's birthday 🎁🎂🎉
The food was lovely, fresh, reasonably priced and well presented.
Everyone enjoyed their meal.❤
Staff, especially management were really lovely.
Amenities were clean.
Loved the fact it is BYO🍾🍺
Will definitely be returning a 3rd time..

Very popular daytime venue however, breakfast is only served until 11am which seemed a bit strange because some breakfast items would have made good lunch options such as the omelettes. I had a bacon and egg muffin and it was nice but it was exactly that - an English muffin with a slice of bacon and a fried egg plonked on a plate, no garnish. My machiatto topped up was undrinkable and I can pretty much drink most coffee but it was really revolting. I then ordered a chai tea which again was a cup and hot water with a tea bag still in its envelope. The presentation is really bad and the food average. I understand the Wednesday night roast is very popular but I will let someone else be the judge of that.

We used to go there because my dearly departed mother in law liked to have a toasted sandwich and we could chose from the main menu. However, the price kept going up and the service, food quality and surroundings did not match that. At best it is a cafe in quite nice surroundings but so overpriced we stopped going there over 2 years ago. I have recently considered going back but looking at these latest reviews it would indicate they haven'y learnt why people vote with their feet. In a word CRAP!!!!!!!!!

My family and I go for breakfast here whenever we come up to Perth. Usually the food is good, nothing to complain about there... but almost every time we come in, all my family and I get is attitude from the wait staff. I would like to point out that on several occassions we have been served by a young girl, she is not friendly at all. She's always giving us attitude, speaks to us with a rude tone, seems very sarcastic and uninterested in pleasing customers or delivering good customer service. Now we come in every few months, but my sister who lives in Canning Vale comes in every month with her girlfriends. She has also pointed out how rude the staff are, especially this girl. I would get some new wait staff if I were the owner.. because word is getting around quick that the service is rude and horrible. Why would you spoil good food with bad service? Who knows...
Perfectly acceptable cakes and milkshakes - nothing exciting, nothing terrible. Didn't dare try the coffee after the reviews. Looked at the dinner menu ... Amazing prices!
Lauran B
Worst place. Offer gluten free, don't have gluten free bread available. Coffees are milky and tasteless. Don't offer lactose free milk either.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Basic food & so expensive! Prices are so extreme for what you're getting. Nothing stood out on the menu except a Smoked Salmon dish, but the $27 price tag put me off it. Ended up ordering the Vegetarian Brekky, and it was bland and boring. The tinned baked beans were the most flavoursome part of the dish, and that's saying something. Coffee was average. Will not be back. 👎
Happymuncher
Mediocre food and for the price you're paying. I had the buttermilk pancakes ($16) with bacon ($6) which was ordinary and not worth it- although it did look "pretty". Drinks came while we were almost finished with our meals and I was incredibly disappointed with my Chai Latte. It was basically milk with a dash of cinnamon.

Looking at the menu, I don't get why it cost $3 more for scrambled eggs in comparison to poached or fried- Perhaps due to the additional ingredients required. This place is really overpriced and you might as well drive elsewhere eg to Victoria park which has better breakfast spots.
Jellee Babee
This place is horrendous in quality and pricing. Coffees are simply awful. Some of the dishes are acceptable but mostly just general pub grub fare with a tonne of chips on the side. The only thing going for it is the adjoining garden nursery which is really quite inspiring albeit a tad on the expensive side.
Not sure how this place continues to do business after so long. Maybe it's the local captive market that has stunted Kelly's ability to be more adventurous with the menu, or maybe it's just expertise - either way, they have to seriously lift their game if they want me to return any time soon.

The outdoor area of Kelly's is a great place to relax and have a meal on a warm day. The staff are quite friendly here, but it took them two or three goes to get the right plates to the right people. We kept saying, 'nope, we didn't order that!' In the end one of our meals went to another table and we had to wait for another one to come out. The manager (I think?) was apologetic and really nice about it though.

The meals are a bit overpriced for what you get. But the food was fresh, and it's a nice place to go once in a while. I'd return.

A great breaky at Kelly's Cafe. We had the eggs bene with ham and breakfast brushetta (bacon, tomato, cream cheese and pesto on garlic bread. Everything was nice but the mega lattes did us in and we had to grab a takeaway cup.

Great Food. My partner and I have been there a few times and the chicken Parmigiana was fabulous. Nice and relaxing.

Word of advise. We have been to this Resturant many many times in small groups and large, during the day and in the evening and have never had bad food our dinners all have come out almost together. Which I no is very hard with large groups.BUT the other night we were out in a group of 10 the Resturant was the quietest I ever seen "just b4 Christmas" I suppose. We all ordered our meals took an hour and 10 mins approx b4 arriving at the table. And the one who ordered first never got his he had to go up and asked where is meal was....By the time he got it he was passed being hungry and wasn't happy.
The day b4 one of us was there at lunch time the same had to wait along time...."WHATS GOING ON GUYS". Sounds like you have a communication break down between kitchen and waiting staff...The "owner" needs a course in customer service!!!! It's no good.constantly saying we concentrate in bringing out quality food (which I might add "IS" lovely) when there is a total breakdownn else where....I believe you need to lift your game in this area otherwise you will find trade will start to dwindle. And that would be very sad :-(

Love it!. We love going to Kelly's Cafe. We've never had a bad meal and the meals are always of a large proportion. Service is great and the atmosphere is wonderful as it is different!

What can I say... firstly, and most importantly, the service is shocking. We came in for lunch and had a totally uninterested and rude waitress. The food is ridiculously overpriced as it is... I'd expect the attitude of the servers to be excellent for the price I'm paying. We asked for a spoon for my Nasi Goreng and were met with a frown and a very sarcastic reply that the meals come with cutlery (even though there is cutlery that customers can pick up at the counter), no smiles, no thank yous, nothing. I'd be cool with that if it was some cheap fast food joint, but together our very average meals were well over sixty dollars with drinks.

Needless to say, I will never return. And will recommend others to do the same.

Betty. I ordered a toasted chicken, sundried tomatoes mayo and cheese, I asked the girl if she could leave the mayo out and add avocado and olives she first said no the lady behind her said the change would be fine but they wanted to charge me $4 for the avacado and $2!for the olives on top of $16.50 what a joke, I will never go back :(
Megannw87
Very ordinary food. Ordered two beef burgers one with chips and the other with salad. Both beef burgers were undercooked (still raw and pink in parts). The side salad consisted of only lettuce and a fraction of carrot and the chips were cold. We were very disappointed with our meals. Staff were however very lovely but as the meals were so terrible we will not be returning

LUNCHES. I have lunched here on two occasions recently and have enjoyed the service, the food, the whole ambience of the place. The first time was a birthday lunch with friends and I had a main meal (Chicken Parmagana). The serving was enormous - was well cooked and delicious. The second time was last week for a quick lunch after I had bought a few items in the gift shop. As I didn't have much time, I ordered a Bruchetta and coffee and it was served within 10 minutes. Coffee was hot and good.... Bruchetta was a disappointment though - just half a sub roll with slices of tomato and avocado... overpriced for what it was.

Enjoyable lunch. I had heard good recommendations about Kellys café many times over the past few years , I have finally dined there for lunch . Myself and four others all choosing different meals . We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch . The young waitstaff were very pleasant . I enjoyed it so much I am meeting a different group of friends there tomorrow. Thanks Kellys staff

Margaret Cardoz. Went and checked out the new menu, very very nice. There's a curry of the day, chicken cashew, vermicelli Asian noodle salad, fresh Turkish bread sandwiches, etc etc. well done chefs.

New menu, great service. We went to Kelly's last night for dinner and discovered the new menu was starting that day, I had the Cashew chicken which came out very well presented and tasted even better. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other new dishes. Service was excellent , with everything coming out together nice and hot and served with a smile . Definitely will be back !!

Disappointment. Yesterday we took my mother to Kellys for her birthday lunch, we took a small cake along with our own knife and when it came time to do the honours my sister placed an order for 4 teas and asked if she could take 4 small plates and forks so we could have a small piece as a celebration and she was told she could but it would cost her $2 each plate, which I think was over the top since she had spent over $100 on lunch and also ordered the teas as an extra,

Port Kennedy. Had a wonderful breakfast at Kelly's Cafe today, the food was terrific could not ask for anything better and plenty off it, the service was outstanding and its great to see Kelly's giving young ones a go in the workplace teaching them how to interact with customers. Well done Kelly's we will be back.

Always pleasant and enjoyable. We have been numerous times and enjoy the meals. Sometimes there can be a wait if it's a busy weekend but this has only happened once. Nice and relaxing venue, not five star but then again you wouldn't expect it to be so i find other poor reviews bewildering.

-----14 Jun, 2014-----

Some reviews would suggest its a bit hit and miss but we have been several times and enjoy the food and wait staff. Always a pleasant meal.

Fantastic Cafe/Resturant. We came to Kelly's Cafe for Lunch seated in the verandah with a lovely lookout over the gardens, the food was plentiful and delicious the kids thoroughly enjoyed there meals and the coffee, the best coffee I have had in a long time!! not sure why the bad reviews, I wonder if it is there competition being unfair.
We then strolled around the garden center and took in the beautiful sunny day, we will definitely be back!!

Fantastic Food an Service. We had the nicest service and most delicious lunch Drunken Chicken followed by Sticky Date Pudding . Great food great prices . Definitely becoming a regular. Well Done Kellys

Expensive. poor food. charges corkage cakeage and $2 extra for an fried egg or a spoonful of baked beans charges extra for just about every thing wouldn't recommend it

Looked promising but that's as good as it got.. OMG how bad was this place, we went for a friends birthday along with twenty eight others. The waitress acted as if we were an inconvenience, she threw the menus on the table, slammed down glasses and was obnoxious and rude. She ordered us to let down a bistro blind someone had raised, to let air into the stifling, narrow balcony that all thirty of us were crammed into. Why? "Because the blinds always stay shut at night"!
Really?
The food was ordinary, I had Chicken Scallopini which unfortunately didn't live up to its amazing description. Instead of the anticipated creamy rich sauce with mushrooms and bacon, it closer resembled a convenience garlic sauce with a subtle fishy flavour. This was served on a potato croquet, the consistency of which brought to mind a cow pat.
Definitely won't be going back
Ajbrennan.au
Poor service, barmy house rules, customer hating waitress, average food.. This could be a great venue if they cooked for the numbers they could cope with easily, the interesting aspect of this business is that it's also a garden centre and you can purchase seasol after you have had dessert.
Obviously the food business has grown up around the garden centre, but sadly they have over stretched themselves.
This was evident by having two large parties in tonight and a handful of other tables which appeared to be made of two's and four's,of which I was with one of the parties of around thirty.
Now you would not expect the table to be served in one go unless they had pre-ordered.
BUT,
I ordered my meal with my partner and my step daughter we ordered prior to most of the table, theirs arrived mine turned up about fifteen minute later.
I ordered a steak medium rare,it was more medium to medium well.
What was described as a croquette on the menu was a pillow of slop, "come on chef lift your game, if you want to make a rosti, then make a rosti, or serve it with a portion of delicious Pommes Anna but not that deb like travesty please"!
The sauce appeared to not reduced and was just cream that had heated up a bit, good effort not!
My partners scallopino seemed to have the same finish and both were bland.
My Step daughters caesar salad, ceased being a salad as soon as it was plated it hardly had any dressing, instead of poached egg it had hard boiled, and what appeared to be bought in croutons,
It was very wrong looking.
The waitress who may have well been in charge ( she gave the impression that she was the fuhrer) threw our menus on the table for us to peruse, she made no mention that we should make our orders at the counter, we had to guess.
We found it very stuffy in the area we were in on the veranda, we opened a cafe blind in order to gain some airflow but were told to close it again as the owner Brian demanded it stay closed, we explained our plight that we were uncomfortable and the waitress who I described earlier rolled her eyes threw her hands in the air and stormed off.
If she had good reason to ask the blind remained closed as the owner stipulated then fair enough, but customer service was not one of her concerns it would appear, and entering into a conversation about it appeared below her.
Then a young chap came and told us not to have the blind rolled up, explaining also that the owner didn't like it rolled up, but again could give no explanation as to why.
When all the food had eventually arrived we found two or three people were eating their meals on their laps as the seating arrangements were so cramped this included the birthday girl whom had invited us to celebrate her birthday with her, it was not an ideal seating arrangement for such a large party, they had tables in abundance in the foyer part of the 'cafe' and would have been able to accommodate us easily there.
Serving the table was haphazard and reliant upon the good will of the clientele to take their plates off the waiting staff and reach over the other guest opposite because of the previously mentioned cramped conditions, had the verandah been a foot and a half deeper the waiting staff could have served us properly.
A friend had ordered a Nasi Goreng it was drab with over cooked rice and amazingly tasteless (see photo for reference)
As a former professional chef I am blessed with a knowledge of how good food can be and what an enjoyable experience you can have, sadly on this occasion I felt it was a bit of a curse than a blessing as to me this was to the standard of a greasy spoon cafe.
The menu may also be a hindrance to Kelly's cafe as they have a many and varied selection of dishes to choose from, they would be better off producing a menu half the size and selecting the dishes that sell the best and perfecting them.
I was disappointed that no one came to visit the table and enquire that the food was up to scratch, and the only member of their team worthy of praise was a young lady called Kathleen (I believe it was) who was pleasant and attempted to resolve issues as they arose.
As I said it could be a great venue and nice little independent restaurant cafe.
But I feel that the indifference to their clientele and the inability to deliver food in a timely fashion, precludes this 'food joint' being anything other than below par, which is a real shame as there are enough poor and forgettable cafe style restaurants plying their trade around Perth already.
Should the owner Brian see this he should consider showing his face to the clientele and get first hand invaluable feedback directly from the horses mouth, as I happened to pass the fuhrer waitress and Brian talking, with herself giving the low down on the pesky clientele on the verandah, and discussing the dramatic blind rolling up that took place earlier in the evening, sadly for Brian I think she has his ear.
I wish them well in the future.
4/10

Worst experience ever!!!! Not only were the staff members extremely rude the food was horrendous, I ordered a chicken ceaser salad and it resembled something you would expect to get pre made at sumo salads but double the price. Absolutely discusted and will not be returning.
Jasmine Wylle
Tonight a large table of us came here for a nice birthday dinner but it was ruined by absolutely arrogant rude waitstaff who made us feel like such inconveniences if we ever needed waiting on. Unfortunately not redeemed by food. Tasteless nasi goreng. Extremely overpriced. None of us will be returning
Ianxr400
Disappointed to say the least. Seems Kelly's has lost what it had, not sure if there's a change of ownership or change in the kitchen.
Their pitiful attempt at bruschetta was embarrassing, it resembled a soggy footling from subway with slice circles of tomato. This just screams lazyness!!!

Not even half filled on a Saturday night, when the place used to be packed out is a sure sign Kelly's have lost it!
Never again!
Honeybee
Not as bad as people make out!. Was here for lunch on a busy public holiday with a large group. Wasn't too excited to be going due to the reviews, however was pleasantly surprised by the service - sure not top notch but not bad either, and the food which was plentiful and tasty. The whole table seemed happy with their variety of dishes which were promptly served and given that everyone ordered seperately staff ensured everyone had their dishes and chased up the ones that were missing - something you rarely see these days. The children's meals were especially large and well done and all in all I look forward to going again - loved walking through the nursery afterwards and the verandah setting was lovely. Not sure why all the negativity really, sure not cheap but where the heck is unless you are doing fast food or a food hall. More people who enjoy this place need to speak up I think. Because the place was packed so they must be doing something right!
Crazydoglady08
No frills, bad service, nice location. I have been to Kelly's a few times for breakfast because it is in a lovely setting amongst the palm trees & nursery. The service has never been great and the food has been average but because the setting is nicer that other cafe's in the area, we went back.
The food is overpriced for the serving size. $26 for a full breakfast, without drinks. The staff on the breakfast shift (both weekends and weekdays) never smile and always seem stressed despite it never being busy. On our last visit we had finished breakfast before the hot drinks arrived and I had to go up to the counter to ask if they had been forgotten. The wait staff deliver orders but don't clear dirty tables on their way back to the kitchen (poor training?).
If you want to pay a premium for sitting in a nice cafe then this is the place for you. If you're looking for a value for money then avoid it. We won't go back.

Whisk the plates away. Dinner with friends in a lovely setting. Great big veranda setting overlooking a nice large courtyard type setting with a beautiful tropical ambience. Yes the portion size is generous here which is appreciated by most. All our meals came out together and were all very good. Staff were kind to give us some Mosquito spray when one of us got bitten a few times under the table, just a bit of bad luck as gardens are close which makes this place comfy as atmospheric. My reason for the review is that it was annoying that one of us was still enjoying the meal when staff reached in and whisked the plates finished away. They watched continuously from a distance though to swoop in and gather more. Nice to clear dishes but not nice when relaxing out and a person is still finishing their meal, made us feel we were being rushed and it was not very busy. If this is Kelly's thing to do at least do it with more style! So meals were okay, setting is nice, some of the staff could go to learn to smile school. We went home for desert and coffee as we felt that's what they wanted us to do. We will visit again.

Good place. We went there for Sunday lunch with friends for a birthday, Have been there a few times before, food and service was great, a nice time was had by all. Can recommend Kelly,s Cafe

Worst breakfast experience ever. Service, food and coffee absolutely horrible. Do not come here.

We came here for breakfast on Sunday Morning and ordered the Eggs benedict, juice and a long mac (traditional).
The coffee was appalling, a latte sized cup filled with murky brown "coffee". I asked for it to be re-made, and it was sent back looking equally as disgusting.

The manager then proceeded to come out to tell me that I was wrong, and that's how the coffee is supposed to be. OK, so every other café/restaurant I order my coffees from must be wrong.. so I requested my money back.

When our meals came out, we were served our Eggs Benedict on raw, soggy, untoasted English Muffins.. Yuck. We asked the waitress if they were indeed supposed to be toasted, and yes they were.

The only part of the meal that was acceptable was the Orange juice that came in the bottle (no glass, no ice).

I'm not one to make a fuss at a restaurant, and we more than likely would have had our meals re-made with toasted muffins if the manager wasn't so horribly rude. Needless to say we got our money back, and will never be returning.
Pmfg
Bad experience. Dont go here unless want a milky cup of coffee because this is one of the worst cups of coffee I ever had.
We arrive at 1.50pm thinking that we could still get lunch only to be told we had 5 minutes otherwise we would be too late.

I ordered fish burger and my wife ordered greek salad both of which were awful.
and the cost did not reflect what we had.
Do not go here for anything if you want to value a decent meal.
Yuk!!
Paula
Favourite. I haven't lived in the area very long, so haven't been to very many places, but this place I have been to twice, and I'm just arranging another booking for next weekend. Absolutely love it, can't rave about it enough. Went for the first time with a friend, couldn't wait to introduce my husband to it, and now looking forward to taking my Mum. This is a definite favourite of mine :)

Great on weekend mornings. Plenty of seats outside and in. Decent breakfasts, reasable price. Order at the counter then fast service. Friendly staff. I was pretty impressed.

We visited on mothers Day and it was extremely busy - always a good sign. Food was plentiful and lovely but we did find it on the expensive side for lunch!

Rip off !! I will never go there again . Couldn't care less attitude . Over priced . They should be ashamed to call themselves a restaurant .

Expensive but portion is massive. A main could be shared by 2 adults.

Service is always good here.

Gone down hill. My family and I dined at Kelly's Café for my mums birthday in May.
When my mum made the booking she was told she would need to make a deposit as it was a large group and was told when we arrive we will get the deposit refunded back to the card.
When we arrived at the restaurant mum asked for her deposit back as we would all be paying separate and was told they wont refund it they will give her difference back once we has ordered. This wasn't what she was told and as it was her birthday she wasn't paying for her dinner anyway.

We were then told about the corkage of $2 per person that was fine but cakeage of $2 per person when bringing a cake is silly and hard to organise in a group unless the person bringing the cake pays the whole cakeage for the table which isn't fair.

We finally got our meals most people enjoyed theirs although a few were cold..
A family friend and I ordered the Chicken Scallopini that comes served on a potato cake which was FROZEN!!!!!!!!!!!
To pay $34 for a simple chicken dish at a casual restaurant is already a bit much but for the meal to be frozen is a joke.
When we approached the waiter, a young boy he said I will bring you out another one. we had already eaten a bit of the chicken so were no longer hungry and put off by the frozen food anyway so we said no thanks. He still came out with 2 more potato cakes. We asked for a discount on the bill and were told that this would not be possible so we then asked for a free coffee he said he would talk to the manager and get back to us. When he returned he said a coffee would be fine. I still cant believe we had to ask and were not offered something to make up for this.

Last week my mum, nan and I thought we would give Kelly's another go, after all we used to love Kelly's Café, so we went in for breakfast. when we arrived there were two staff members (middle aged to older ladies) standing next to the coffee machine neither of them greeted us or even smiled or acknowledged our arrival. My nan then asked for a table and one of the ladies said you can go out the back, we also asked if any of the heaters were on as it was cold and they said you can have a look but there should be. Not one of the two stepped out from behind the counter to say hi, show us to a table or even smile.
After this welcome and a quick look at the very OVERPRISED menu ($6 to add 2 rashers of bacon to an already $20 vegetarian breakfast) we decided to leave and went to Dome café up the road where we were served by a few friendly young girls and had a nice cooked breakfast with all the trimmings and a coffee for under $20

Kelly's Café has really gone down hill
1. the service/staff - They need to learn customer service skills, to smile for one thing.
2. the prices - some of the prices are like you are dining in Mount Lawley which is not right for a casual café at a nursery.

Very disappointed at a once good restaurant . We wont be back.

Lovely!. I have been here on several occasions and thought it was time to write a review regarding the cafe. Firstly I think that the location is fantastic, it just shows that you don't have to travel too far for a nice afternoon!

I find it so very interesting that people complain about the price of this cafe's food, you all have obviously never eaten out before and realised the cost of meals in many restuarants, furthermore the portion sizes are fantastic!
If you do not want to pay for quality then bugger off to dome or some other cheap cafe where all of their stuff is packaged, dropped off and put into a microwave!! I myself have worked in hospitality for a number of years, and you can honestly tell the difference. I think the prices are very fair for what you get however I wouldn't design my own toasted sandwich cause it can be quite pricey, mind you though you don't go out for a nice meal and order a toastie!!

I just recently ordered the fishermans platter and could barely finish what was on the plate. My partner ordered the spanish chicken chorizo salad and my girlfriend ordered the steak sandwich - it was a monster! At the end of lunch we felt it was time to order coffee, the coffee was gorgeous and made properly, I highly recommend ordering a cappaccino with the big mountain of foam that they put on top how can you not!

As I have already said I have been here on many occasions and even had a family dinner party here. If we wanted to bring our own cake that was absolutely fine however we needed to pay a cakeage fee of $2 per head, I didnt think it was such a big deal since it was explained to us what the fee covered which included supplying a knife, cake stand, candles, plates, napkins, and forks. I think this is a reasonable price since the dishes arent going to wash themselves after our usage, someone is obviously employed to do that,
There was also a corkage fee, $2 per head, wine glasses were supplied along with a few ice buckets. I think its time people pulled their head out of their asses and understand that when you go out for dinner/lunch or whatever nothing is free. Ever other BYO restuarant charges corkage and some even do cakeage! I don't know what you're all complaining about.

Overall I had a pleasant experience and didn't have any issues with the staff being rude etc, I found them all quite friendly and knowledgeable. I am still yet to come for breakfast and will be sure to provide feedback.

The owners of this establishment really have something to be proud of! .

Singapore 2 minute noodles.... Need I say more?! 2 minute noodles with a couple of veggies for $25!!
My partner ordered the fishermans basket and said the seafood was disgraceful even thought it was maybe off. Always disappointed when I go to Kelly's... Staff aren't very friendly and food is a joke. Not going back that's for sure.

What a joke for a cafe! Rude stuck up staff.... Here's the menu your table is over there sum where???? Sad servings food not hot 7.50 for 5 pieces of bread??? I'd be curious if this owner would even have the Gail to respond! As a local I would love to support local business this one is a joke sorry but maybe sell up and let someone who has a passion for the industry put this place in a better league

Well pleased. Was looking for a place around Canning Vale for convenience but couldn't find many places that appealed although I had heard Kelly's Cafe was good. So I went there with my parents for lunch right in peak hour, although this wasn't a problem the waitress was lovely and pleasant and the food came out all at once within ten minutes of ordering. The chips and chilli calamari were amazing, possibly the best I've tried around, while my mother had tiger prawns which she devoured and my dad a steak sandwich who got his value for money as he loved it but couldn't finish it. The tables are well spaced out as well so you're not sharing your meal with other diners. I would definitely recommend Kelly's Cafe for a tasty meal and service you'll enjoy.

Good food. Recently we came here for breakfast & found it to be expensive compared to other cafe's we have been to. The roast dinners on Wednesday nights are good value & the food was delicious.

My husband and I went here for dinner on Friday night and we chose the chefs specials of the night, the oriental plate and the seafood platter, both meals were presented beautifully and tasted fantastic, the seafood platter was delicious and fresh and a really different take on the usual fried dish served elsewhere, we would definitely recommend you to try this restaurant. The ambience is relaxing and there is a lovely gift shop too. 10 out of 10 for the night.

Even though the place looks awesome and has some good food - I was very disappointed with their coffee. Came in to have a coffee specifically, and it was very average...and cost more than your normal cafe. So don't go here for a coffee.

Ordered before the cut off time for lunch, Waited half and hour for food just to find out that the chefs had gone home before making our food. We weren't told about this, and were not approached to explain the situation. We were told there was nothing they could do after I approached the counter.
0/10 on service. This was my lunch and dinner for work tonight and I had to leave hungry with no time to eat

Nice place to go. Plenty of seating, good selection of cafe foods. Ordered a choc milkshake & wasn't too impressed with the taste. Figured choc milkshake is fool proof but not this time. Despite that all other times ive been I have enjoyed it.

Cakeage and Corkage. We recently booked breakfast for 20 people for a family gathering. We were told we would be charged $2.00 per head "cakage" and another $2.00 per head for corkage if we brought champagne..... that would mean an additional $80.00 ON TOP of our meals. I then explained we would be having cup cakes as it was easier and the staff member on the phone still tried to enforce the "cakage" charge advising we would "still need serviettes (at which point I promptly replied I would bring my own).

We have been here on a few occassions and the customer service needs a lift!!

I came here for breakfast and I was shocked by the crazy prices !! A big breakfast was $23.50 and if you want scrambled eggs with that, add an extra $3. So your telling me your going to charge $26.50 for a breakfast !!!!! That's insane. I will not be going back again.

I ended up ordering the salmon croissant for $15.50 and got two mini croissants with a stingy filling of salmon.

With these prices you might as well get breakfast in south perth or Applecross overlooking the river or something.

Fantastic. I visit this cafe on a regular basis,I find the staff to be a joy to deal with and the food to be at the highest of standards also the seating is spaced out and not all crammed in like a lot of restaurants.
I find the prices to be quiet competitive with other places in the area but the portion sizes and quality exceed their competitors.

1980's food at 2020's prices, more staff than customers and still an epic wait for a coffee that tasted like hot water that had sat in a room next to a jar of coffee beans for an hour, maybe understandable in a remote country town but not acceptable for Perth. Sick to death of businesses like this blatantly taking advantage of its customers

Good food but miserable staff. Not a great atmosphere.

My Review. My Family and I have been to Kelly's many times and have never been let down. The food is great there is not to many places around canning vale were you can get a 250g fillet steak with al the side for there price.I love that you have so many choice's on one menu and you don't leave there hunger.I don't fined them to prices as I work in the area of catering and to get good food and chefs cost alot.

Nice setting but over priced. Six of us dined here on a Thursday for a 1pm lunch. We had to wait at a counter for a while to place an order (no table order service). While waiting I heard a waitress say to another staff member "the lunch specials are now finished". So we ordered off the menu.
Our food was delivered fairly quickly to our table. My wife's Nasi Goering was served with the obligatory fried egg perched on top but it (the egg) was overcooked and a dried our specimen which looked like it had been in the kitchen bain marie for hours. It was cold. She said that the rice dish was "average".

My dish was the "chef's special hamburger" served in a huge bun with a large amount of chips. The hamburger meat was OK but quite small inside the bread bun. No salad to speak of, just a tiny sliver of onion and little bit of green lettuce or cucumber. About a small fork serve! For this I paid $22.00.

The other dishes our friends had were reasonable but all bulked out with chips. Most cost $26.00.

To order coffees and or cake we had to go back inside to the counter to re-order and wait in the queue again!

While this restaurant is located in a nice setting (a garden nursery and gift shop) it is more of a cafe than a good restaurant. It is very popular and crowded but that is, I think, mainly due to the lack of any other similar place to eat nearby and the increasing population in the area.

Our collective view was that it is overpriced with average food.

Over-priced, over-sauced, over-salted. Restaurant prices with lunch shop food.

Farmhouse breaky over rated and over priced. eggs were bland..hash browns soaked in oil..fresh tomatoes were sour

Expensive. I visited kellys yesterday with family & I found it to be well overpriced for a cafe. After lining up for service then asking for a salad sandwich but was told they dont use fresh bread so they told me to opt for toasted. $3.50 for 2 slices of avocado in the sandwich was ridiculous. By the time my order appeared my family had all finished their meal. Mine seemed to take forever to make. Wasnt impressed at all. Ive been there a few times & the meals have been very basic. Not worth what you pay for them. I wont be going back!

Dissapointed. Great meal for breakfast however their interpretaion of a long macchiato was undrinkable i was so dissapointed

Just get up, shut up, and gets your ass to breakfast club... I mean, breakfast menu is scrummy!

My thought is that Kelly's is trying too hard to be a serious restaurant in a location and surrounds - beautiful though they are - better suited for a more simple café. The meals were slightly too big, a little too bland, and much too overpriced, although the staff were friendly and helpful. An overall mixed experience.

We were disappointed with this restaurant. Nice setting pleasant staff but the servings were too big and overpriced. The biggest disappoinent was the fish and chips and the Singapore noodles. Who knows what fish it was but you would get better at a fish and chip place. The noodle dish was inedible and smothered in sesame oil and soya sauce. There was nothing Singapore about it! This is a pity as there are few lunch restaurants to choose in the area.

Best Breakfast in Perth. By far the best place to have breaky in Perth. Have been here many times and each time has been a grat experience. Beats even the best restaurants in Perth for breakfast. Farmhouse breaky, poached eggs on muffins with smoken salmon and the fruit toast is devine. Fabulous servings, good service and reasonable prices. Have not been there for lunch but will give it a go next time.

Tasty Teriyaki - very memorable!. Lunch on Thursday - my first visit, very yummy Teriyaki Fish with rice and asian veg. Couldn't fault it... teriyaki can sometimes be quite salty... but not this one, a subtle hint of ginger was a great touch. Generous serve size. Latte also one of the nicest. May not be the cheapest spot for lunch, but the taste was worth it. Also lovely surroundings. Look forward to returning :-)

Overpriced. Went here today for lunch with a party of six, including my two teenage daughters. We ordered a steak sandwich, two chef specials of roast beef rolls, two soft drinks and bottled ice tea, the total cost was $71. Granted, all meals came with lovely steakhouse style chips and caramelized onion. The cost for the steak sandwich was $25. On top of this we had to queue and order at the counter, there was no table service.

We sat out on the verandah. It was winter, cold and very rainy outside but the plastic drop down blinds and overhead heaters helped make it a pleasant environment.

We ordered coffee following lunch. The flat whites were lovely.

My mother tried to order the Thai Prawn Salad off the menu only to be told it was no longer available. They are in the process of changing over their menus and the prawn salad is a summer dish. She then tried to order lasagna off the loose leaf sheet in the front of the menu only to be told it was only available at night time!

One of our friends' ordered a chicken salad. His comment was that there was a lot of salad and not enough chicken.

Our overall impression was that although the food was acceptable and the environment pleasant, for cafe style food with no table service, it was very overpriced.
Steve's A Big Foodie
Great Place. Myself and wifey went there on two separate occasions
On the first visit I ordered: the Lemon pepper Calamari with chips and salad, whilst wifey ordered pesto king prawns. Both dishes were great with ample serving of king prawns and calamari. I love my squid dishes and have to say that the calamari was one of the best i have had for while, cooked perfectly.

The next trip to Kelly's was about a month later, this time I tried the MSA steak (med rare) and wifey tried the Thai salad which came with a big serving of king prawns. Once again the meals were excellent. I hate steak over cooked and mine was done exactly as I like it. The serving of chips was a good size and a nice salad accompanied it. Being locals we wil be back for sure.
The meals were served in about twenty minutes and staff were polite and friendly.
The Grizzly Bear Perth
...a Tomato, Onion and Cheese Omelette with toast ($16.50) and a Farmhouse Breaky with bacon, 2 eggs, grilled tomato, hash brown, mushrooms, baked beans and 2 slices of toast ($23.50). I personally ordered the omelette, and it was delicious! The omelette was cooked well, the ingredients inside were generous and the size of the dish was very satisfying. There is definitely something on the menu to suit everyone here.

One criticism is that ordering is done at the counter, which is fine if you’re there early but a lengthy queue can form when it gets busy. A long wait queuing up to order during dinner could really spoil an intimate evening. Other than that, the service is efficient, friendly and unobtrusive. Kelly’s Cafe isn’t licensed, but you can BYO with corkage at $2 per person.
