Do you believe in the art of writing? That the conditions under which it is done seasons the words, the phrasing, the tone? Would this review be somehow different as I write it waiting for salvation, having locked myself out for the second time this month?
Completely useless intro aside, Outback Jacks seems to be one of those "establishments", similar in stature to Hog's Breath, Sizzlers or even Han's Cafe. I had never been, but a flyer in the mail informing me of a new lunch menu soon changed that.
We got the croc burger and the $9.95 porterhouse. The latter wasn't on the menu but in chalk on the front door, so I don't know how long they're doing it for. Service was friendly though a bit slow in coming with water. It was fairly busy, with two large tables more or less winding up when we walked in to a backdrop of typical country/Aussie rock (more like Aus-C/DC amirite) twang.
Both came with a generous serving of surprisingly good chips. Tainted by a long stretch of drive-through mediocrity, it was pleasant to be reminded that salt didn't have to be just salt. These chips were crunchy, hot and piping, with a herb-ish salt not quite like Burger Edge's or [insert other burger chain I can't remember here]. It definitely put us in a good mood for the main dishes.
The porterhouse was good enough. The pepper sauce used lemony peppercorns that were not solid pellets but soft and berry-like, and it was not overpowering at all - somewhat of a shock after years and years of "pepper sauce" equating to "extract of black pepper". Decent sized strip, made fantasticbby its cost, and a simple bit of salad to go. It was done medium rare as requested even if the edges were more of a medium.
The croc burger was all right. The bun was crispy and looked fried - which perked my interest immediately - but the patty was more herbs and seasoning than croc, which as I am sure you know is best described as "chicken if it were fish". The texture was a bit dense and gave the impression of eating a compacted fish cake, which is really neither positive or negative... The bush chutney was great, though. Nothing worth mentioning about the salad.
I can't comment on the points other reviews bring up. But the food we had was fine, the price was good, even great for what it was (we had half of the chips brought back for tea), and I believe that it achieved what it set out to achieve. Therefore, it gets a solid 4.
We went to Outback Jacks Cannington for lunch on Sunday and we were treated to delicious steak! Outback Jacks is a chain steakhouse known for its big portion and great price of steak. Their menu is quite big and other than steak you can also find burgers, pasta, salad, chicken and ribs. The Outback Jacks Cannington has an open kids room where they can play with their toys or the provided Play Station and even watch any cartoon provided by the staff.
The great thing about outback jacks is the staff are very attentive and it is the ideal place to take kids out for dinner. They have a great kids menu with at least 10 choices, and they come with kids ice cream. It would have been better if they threw in some kid sized drinks too with the deal. The surf and turf meal was delicious, hot, and served with a generous amount of mash, however there just wasn't enough sauce to use with the steak which by the end of the meal had turned cold and dry without the help of minimal sauce. Overall a nice dining experience but a bit expensive on a family budget.
Good place to eat with your family. Always love place when is kids friendly. Service was good as well. Staffs are friendly enough. I love the steak, they are nice.
Started a bit worried with all the -ve review but as one says life is all about experiences! Well mine was quite nice!
We landed at ObJ with the plan to try something not eaten before!
So 1st point which really stands out is the nice warm welcome you get & we were led to our seat!
Yes it being the first time we did fumble with regular eat + trying diff but our servers we very calm n guided us!
So coming to the point we ordered skewers of Crocodile & Kangaroo @$ 3.95 was bit to small for me but yes quite tasty. The croc was the white meat bit rubbery you had to chew n savour while kang was like lamb with its taste notes in the area as if you had tried it earlier!! this was followed by the regular chicken & Garamundi fish burger!! Quiet filling & neat in taste! Spl mention goes to the fish burger for it being juicy with well synergized taste!
Net net a good experience!!
Had the greatest meal last night with my wife and son. Such a juicy steak cooked perfectly medium rare. Keep up the good work everyone. Loved the display meat fridge as well looked so fresh, clean and inviting
Amazing Experience!. One of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a long time hats off to the maitre'd! Service was outstanding, Food was outstanding and the waiter my little brother and I had was just amazing I think her name was Bec! She had this gorgeous smile and a bubbly personality perfect for hospitality, she even had a chat and a laugh with us! I was going to tip her but had no cash on me. The steak was cooked to perfection and was so tasty. I will recommend this place to anyone! Thank you!!!!
Favourite Outback Jacks Restaurant in Perth. I have been to this restaurant quite a few times and it is my favourite in Perth with both food, service and parking.
Food portions are larger than other restaurants but the drink service is also quite quick. Normally need to order two drinks because the food does take a lot longer but staff are attentive and easy to get hold of if you want something extra.
Will be back again soon.
Great meal and service. It was with trepidation that we went to Outback Jack's for dinner on New Years Eve after reading all the recent reviews. My views - could not fault the service or the food. Very attentive staff and all our meals were served at the same time and the food was delicious. On our arrival it appeared that our reservation may not have been recorded, but that was not a biggie as we were warmly welcomed to the restaurant. My only criticism would be that the gentleman (possibly the manager?) on the front counter on arrival seemed to be a bit brusque with the staff in front of customers, In my mind happy staff generally = happy customers and there is a time and place to address staff issues (usually behind closed doors away from the customer). Overall we had a lovely evening and we will return :)
Never had an issue. Have been to outback jacks in Cannington on numerous occasions. Both for lunch and dinner. Both in very busy times during the weekend and on quieter nights early in the week.
Staff have always been attentive and respectful and upon paying have heard many customers thank the staff for the lovely service.
My family and I always go out for dinner and have to admit that every place has things go wrong, this includes outback jacks but they are just human and mistakes happen. The job in it's self can be difficult and people seem to have a very high expectation. I am sure that in our own jobs nothing always goes 100% to plan all the time. I have read a few of the comments here and would like to say to people do not let these deter you as we have always had really good food and great service. Thanks outback jacks for always looking after me and my family. It would be good to see more people that have had a great experience at restaurants write a good review rather than just the people that have negative things to say, and just remember it's just people trying to earn a living too.
Full & Happy. Have never been to Outback Jacks as it is expensive but since we had a voucher from the Entertainment book we thought we would try it. We ordered JD & coke $10, bottle SSB $28 (the cheapest bottle). Entree to share: cheese n chips - yum ($10.95) Mains: JD ribs served ($39.95) & Outback Jacks "3 for all" ribs ($44.95) :large serving of ribs, falling apart & really sticky & yummy. We were so full we couldn't finish our chips or salad (shouldn't have ordered an entree). After sitting for a while, we managed to fit in dessert. Sticky date pudding ($12.95) & Hot fudge brownie ($12.95) both delicious. In total with our voucher we paid $119.80. Service was very friendly, food arrived quickly & was tasty, excellent night out. *finger bowls would be a great addition*
Great food, great service. Cant fault at all. Will def be back
Good service n really yummy steak... Good dinning experience ...It's bit pricy for size of steak .. But so far it's tasty acceptable ...
Saturday Lunch. Reading some of the other reviews l wonder if l went to the same place; we stopped in for lunch and as usual ordered entree's and mains. The wife had cheese and some sauce covered chips which were great - too much to eat. I had the chicken wings - again, great (get the arse burner sauce). Ribs and a steak rounded out the mains, both well cooked and timely service. Wait staff couldn't have been nicer, even giving grandson free juice, colouring book and heaps of attention. We will go back on a Friday or Saturday night to see if different but at the moment. Great family restaurant.
Lucy the waitress was awesome! So friendly and helpful..
But I think the food is a lil overpriced for what it is.
$12 lunch specials aren't bad value, but anything off the dinner menu isn't worth it.
It's awesome. My steak was done great !!! It has kiddie section for my kids to play while I enjoy my meat. Service time did not take long -10-15mins. The staff was friendly too. The family enjoyed their steaks as well. Definitely coming back again.
We had new year party there. My steak was little but burnt. Waitress supervisor was rude and making crappie faces and showing her anger front of all customers.
Great steak well cooked good service
Good service. Great meals.. Came here with a few friends a few nights ago. Service was alright but the food was awesome. We had the Wagyu porterhouse, JD ribs and the tropical prawn salad. Service was a little slow but the staff were friendly and apologised for the wait, which was fine, we understood, they had a few huge tables that night. The Wagyu porterhouse was absolutely amazing, same with the ribs. Didn't try the salad so i wouldn't know, but my friends seemed very happy about it. All in all a pleasurable experience and a nice atmosphere. A bit of a wait for service but in the end it was worth it. A little pricey but will definitely come back again. Thank you Outback Jack's!
Fantastic food and service. We booked a table for 6.30pm Sat 10.8.13, I was very pleased to see 2 very friendly staff with smiles on their faces waiting to seat us, the service just got better from there, we ordered our meals and they ( all 5 ) came out at the same time hot and delicious he steaks was fantastic and the ribs was excellent. the restaurant was full so the atmosphere was fantastic, and the wait staff didn't show how busy they was as we was asked if everything was ok a couple of times and when we ordered more drinks we got them straight away. We ordered desserts and again fantastic and not long of a wait. All 5 of us was very happy with the food and the service, we certainly will be back here again. Not one complaint from any of us. Well done Outback Jacks I am tough cookie to please but you did please me and your restaurant made my birthday a great one x
Went hear last night for brothers birthday. Not type of place I'd usually go for, but kids playroom a draw card. Was blown away how good it was! Steaks were awesome. Delicious and well cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful. It is a bit on the expensive side and I think it's a bit rough having to pay extra for sauces, but all kids meals are only $5. A great all round experience. Would definitely go back!
I went to OBJ's tonight and it was probably one of best dining experiences I've ever had. The steak was cooked beautifully, dessert was lovely, the staff were friendly and the service was prompt. I would definitely go there again.
Had dinner here tonight with my partner and we were both thoroughly impressed. Staff were very attentive, can't fault the service. Food came very quickly, much quicker than we expected for well done steak. Steak was fantastic as was dessert. Great dining experience and left feeling satisfied enough to come and here and create an account just to share my thoughts.
I did like the good here buy the best part of outback jacks is the kids area. Such a great idea. Unfortunately there were two rough little girls so I had to watch my child. Which has nothing to do with the restaurant. Great food. Ordered the parmy, my dad ordered the ribs he loved them and mum ordered the chicken with sauce and loved it.
Great experience :)
