I’ve come here quite a few times to have the dessert. The snow range is amazing! Highly recommend giving the mango snow or the milk snow ice w/mango a try. The ice is always super silky and sweet but not sickening. The perfect dessert to have on a hot day. I also recommend the fried squid. It has great flavour and it’s super duper crispy! The price overall is a little bit high but for the amount, it is pretty worth it. You can share it with 1 or 2 other people.
We only ordered one thing here- the fried chicken wings ($8). I didn't expect them to be any good as this is a dessert place but the batter was crispy fried and the chicken was moist.
One of hangout place in carousel that offer various kind of dessert. My favourite are their ice mango snowy and popcorn chicken. I also tried their herbal eggs. It's nice.
I remember first time they open people lined up to try. Now they have expanded the sitting area. My fave is the popcorn chicken and the squid for the hot food. And for the ice, I like their mixed pudding and the original. The price was pretty pricey for the desserts but it's so good
Wasin Thammaraksa (วศิน / U Kumara)
+4.5
An excellent place so far in Western Australia for Hong Kong style desserts. Wide arrange of dessert menus to indulge any Oriental dessert lovers.
Coconut Colada with coconut jelly and mango cubes is a frozen drink definitely worth a try to those who love rich coconut milk based dessert drink. A perfect balance between true richness of the coconut milk, sweetness of the ripe fragrant mango and a hint of pineapple flavoured vegan jelly.
Their soft, silky and rich fragrant Peanut Tofu and home made Walnut Soup too are classic Cantonese sweet treats worth a try here.
A slight down side of this place was their Chicken Chop Noodle Soup which I ordered on my recent visit. The noodle texture was brilliant but the soup base was bland and with hardly any flavour apart from chopped scallions. The Taiwanese fried chicken chop was beautiful however. So I ended up getting just a serving of their fried chicken for me to enjoy.
After about 10 minutes of convincing my dad and brother that dessert story was the place we wanted to go to for dessert, we spent a while searching for it (we don't come to carousel often). It was recommended to me by a friend last time we were here. I was really hoping I made the right call. My brother ordered the strawberry shaved ice, and my dad ordered mango. I went straight for the herbal ice + taro + cream. I anxiously munched on my dessert, peering at the two of them occasionally to see if they were satisfied with my choice. Both of them loved their selection of dessert, as did I! Thank you for not letting me down! Only downside was the loud music and I had to yell-talk at my brother who was sitting across from me.
Probably the only chinese dessert/hang-out place in the big Carousel shopping centre! I am actually really glad they open one in Perth (and so near to my house too!) as I am a big fan of Dessert Story in Melbourne.
Dessert Story not only offer delicious dessert at affordable price but they also offer plenty and plenty of variety from ice cream, snowy ice (which is my personal favorite - with the mango snowy ice to be more precise), bubble tea, variety of chinese dessert and many more. More than often I was confused on what to order. Not seldom they also comes up with new menu or special edition.
As mentioned, my favorite is the mango snowy ice. At $10.90 you get one big bowl of mango-flavored soft and sweet snowy ice that can be easily shared among 3-4 people. There was once or twice the mango fruit was a bit sour but I was able to overcome it with the snowy ice. But generally, the mango fruit was sweet and decent.
If you are @carousel shopping centre -feeling hungry and want to snack you can try this place..love their fried squid..soft and crunchy..and they have Asian dessert which pretty good too..I wish they have any durian ice cream as well😄
I am a big fan of those stinky fruit😁😁
The food is always so good yet affordable here! Ordered the mince pork rice bowl with pickled mustard, pork mince, rice and bok choy which tasted amazing together. Maybe a little stingy with the meat but so good for the price. Also ordered the coconut drink with mango and aloe vera that tastes so refreshing and sweet. The aloe vera was so soft & chewy
The prices aren't displayed on the menu boards, so you have to grab a menu for that, but the menu does have a lot of pictures. $5.90 for a smoothie is pretty good, especially as you choose a base, the main body, and fruit for the top. The food and drinks take average time to prepare, and come out looking rather nice, especially the snow ice mountains.
Came here twice for desserts. The mango shaved ice is quite sweet after a few mouthfuls. I like the herbal jelly dessert, except that I found it hard to scoop from the bowl. Definitely would come back in to try more desserts as it is nearby, especially in the warmer weather. I also came to try the savoury bowls. I ordered minced pork with with noodles, tea egg and veggies for $10.80. I like how you can either choose if you want noodles or rice. It was tasty comfort food and quite a reasonable rice. I wouldn't say that the service is rude but I think they need to improve on customer service.
Took me a while to pick a dessert because there were so many to choose from. Eventually I chose 2 dessert with mango. The dessert itself was good but the quality of the mango was questionable as some tasted overripe. Would love to try the shaved ice once the weather gets warmer.
There was a huge selection of desserts here. Ended up choosing the black sesame rock and coconut tofu pudding. I can honestly say that the black sesame ice dessert was delicious for every bite! Definitely a recommended choice. The coconut pudding is the standard tofu fah with coconut milk and not flesh - so this was alright I guess. I would recommend this place over taro taro.
One of the nicer tofu pudding in Perth. At least the tofu pudding structure is not all smashed up when u take a spoon off it. Meatball soup delicious. The herbal tea leaf eggs probably is good on the average but does not have the kick in it. Probably if they put more of the tea leaves to infuse into the eggs longer then it will be much more tasty.
Overall at a convenient location and plenty of seats around.
Absolutely loved it here! The tea eggs were lovely, and we shared the huge mango snow ice between three of us. The snow ice was light and lovely and not too sweet.
Service was very fast, and the staff were great. I'm looking forward to trying some of their hot meals, and introducing all my friends to their fabulous desserts!
Craving for asian sweets SATISFIED!!!. As good as the real stuff you get visiting east Asian street markets etc. Authentic, generous portions, exactly like photos, chill factor 10/10 on summers.
Would go there practically every other day if not for the distance (I live northeast). Please open another branch in Midland or Morley!!!!

Gluten Free Desserts in Perth - tase of the orient. Looking for deserts that may have less gluten. Try deserts with beans, sweet potato and taro root. Visit Dessert Story for oriental flavours but sweet - sweet - sweet! May take getting used to but once you are over it lots of gluten free alternatives as long as you avoid the barley. Also serves savoury foods. As it is oriental type dessserts there is not alot of dairy. Mainly sweet - sweet - sweet soy milk or puddings.
Love love love. LOVE this place ever since discovering it in the eastern states.
So glad that it has made its way to Perth. Shame that it is located so far, and tucked away in a shopping centre. Wish it was in the city or northbridge for convenience sake, and so that others can enjoy what it has to offer.
the watermelon smoothies/snow shake drinks with lychee/watermelon balls etc are amazing!!! So refreshing.
The herbal jelly desserts are delicious every time, and so so filling.
Thank you for coming to Perth!
Smoothest to fu fa (bean curd dessert) in town!
Shopping in Carousel shopping Mall and plagued by sweet tooth. Love candy but trying to cut down on gluten - try Dessert Story. Can't get enough sugar but avoiding dairy - try dessert story without cream or with soya bean.
