Real gem on Mailing road. Great coffee, good food, friendly staff and fantastic service. My daughter often say this is THE place for babyccino and brunch on Sunday.
Wonderful ambience. Great service. Very good coffee and green tea. Good portion size meals. Tasty food with good textures. Just one tiny complaint, and that is that my poached eggs were lukewarm. I will be back

Since arriving in Maling Road, Canterbury, "Between Us" has raised the bar of style and taste to a new, very high level.
Attention to detail, fresh flowers each day from Canterbury Flowers next door, firm control from Rosie, bright, young, trained and caring staff, all dressed in uniform black cocktail dresses. Very stylish.
What stands out is that you are greeted at the door by a bright smile and a pleasing demeanor.
Just what is required to raise one's spirits on a cold Melbourne day.
The menu is delicious, and the service first rate. They even know what "double checking" means.
i.e. They come back a moment later to check whether everything is satisfactory.
A fork, an additional spoon, raw sugar ?
"Between Us" is also a nice place to spend a dinner on Thursday and Friday nites. (Only)

Not too full, not too noisy and a delicious Tomich Champagne from the Adelaide Hills, backed up with good wines, simple menu and charming but not too chatty service from Anthony.

Highly recommend between us cafe'. Had my 40th surprise party here organised by my husband with the assistance of management at between us cafe'. By far the best food and coffee on maling road. Rosie and her lovely hardworking team have a definite presence in canterbury. We just love them! Delicious scallops and the best lamb dish I've tasted!! Keep up the good work gang.

Caught up with a friend on the weekend at this clean lined and friendly cafe on Maling road. We had coffees and shared a serve of fruit toast. My friend is a regular and this is her go to place on week day and I could see why. My strong almond latte was really creamy and had a good coffee hit. The chai (my friend chose the powder over the tea option) was super sweet and was enjoyed also. No complaints and friendly service
The white picket fence drew us in. As I walked through the gorgeous classic door the decor was beautiful & perfectly finished.

This cafe has lovely feel to it. Every table had nice fresh flowers, a single rose. Smart decor. Contemporary but warm. Staff were lovely and friendly. We had a hot chocolate, coffee and lemon and sour cherry cake. The hot chocolate was presented beautifully and was really good. Nice long black as well without hitting it out of the park. The cake was delicious and very good as well. Good place. We’d very happily return anytime.
The French toast was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked - soft and fluffy with a nice balance of flavors. The smoked salmon egg was fresh and tasty. The Golden latte was served in nice big cups but could do with a bit more spice.

Between Us is a quintessential beautiful Maling Road cafe. Complete with a white picket fence out the front and a beautiful interior inside, this cafe is a delight to eat in.
We came here for brunch recently and I chose the ‘Davo’ which was their take on a smashed avo.
It was definitely one of the more memorable smashed avos that I’ve had because of the wisely-chosen accompaniments. The slather of nut butter on the thick cut toast, as well as the little rocket salad provided great earthy/bitter flavour which really enhanced the dish. I loved it!
The service was super friendly and our food came out very promptly after ordering.
Between Us is definitely worth a visit next time you’re in Canterbury.

I was so excited to visit when I heard they revamped their menu. I had the calamari with feta, squid ink aioli, and a small salad. This dish looked so good, and it tasted fresh and amazing. We wanted to try the lobster with a brioche, but they were out of lobsters and replaced them with Tasmanian prawns. That was also stunning, with black caviar, a slaw, and fluffy brioche buns. The thin red strips puzzled us and we were trying to figure out what was, and turns out they are shaved and dried capsicum, for a textural component. I love that they care about the little elements on the plate too. Coffee was spot on, the latte art was so fun, and the chai lattes were massive and so good. I will definitely be back soon.
Breakfast zucchini fritters were delicious and beautifully presented. Quick and friendly service. Loved the coffee. Service and food is consistently good.

Never have I seen a cafe so divisive in opinion in the review section...was looking for a brunch place in the area. Was never too impressed with Maling Room despite its popularity. So together with my lovely wife and kid...we tried this out...glad we did.
I can only comment on my own experience. Service was good. Warm, friendly and welcoming. I really appreciate the decor in this place. Very understated but so much attention to details. The natural light, the choice of cups and plates, tea pots, glasses for still water, the minimalist approach...it is obvious all things are hand picked including the hand wash and choice of toilet. It's a labor of love. Owner would most definitely be someone with a good sense of style. Hats off to u.
But for me...the most important thing for brunch are coffee and food. My usual double shot latte is perfectly executed. Pleasantly surprised to see a slightly larger serve without any compromising the coffee strength. Great start. We had the smoked salmon, scrambled egg & triple cooked wedges. Both were excellent simple dishes in deceptively generous serving. Particularly satisfied w the creaminess of my scramble and how it work so well with the spring onion. It was so good, I hardly notice the thick cut bacon...can't go wrong with that.
Wedges didn't impress me though...nothing too much to complain abt but considering the thoughtfulness put in most things in the cafe...the wedges could be a lot better.
Will come back to try the lunch menu. 😊
I have been in various places to have an artistic lunch or mainly very fine stylish dinner but it was my first experience for such an artistic breakfast which is served by very friendly staff in very elegant uniforms. Certainly you need to visit this place and I am pretty sure you will visit it again.
What a lovely place to visit. Fastidiously clean! The décor is all in harmony. Prompt friendly service- not bad to find a spot, even on a Saturday. I definitely recommend this little gem. And btw, the food and drink is excellent too.
Modern cafe with a fine decor. Love the little details in this cafe especially the fact that each table has fresh flowers every time I come. Every piece of furniture matches perfectly. Coffee is still great although food was better in my memory.

I went for an EARLY Sunday breakfast. Not too many people up and about so it wasn't too busy at this time. Coffee was nice, had a smooth creamy texture and was larger than your standard serve. I only had a croissant, but it was light and crispy on the outside, just how I like it. Staff were friendly, nice atmosphere and the cafe was clean.Will be back.

Wonderful food joint at the beautiful Mailing Road. I had Lamb Shank and it was simply amazing. Perfectly cooked and thoroughly delicious. Also the Lemon Yogurt syrup was very good.

Between Us has really good food and coffee. It's also a rare cafe in the area that's licenced if you want a glass of wine. The prices are marginally on the expensive side which is the only down side, but worth it.
Love the location, Maling Rd is wonderful (may be bias because I'm a local). Nice atmosphere, great chai and fairly good food. Good customer service, and a nice little selection of cakes and biscuits at the counter too.
BetweenUs Brilliant experience!!. So happy we were able to get a table after only a short wait, Staff were so thorough, even before our water began depleting it was replaced without even being requested, Now that is what I call service, Great coffee and the food was just scrumptious, we will be back!

Yummo!!!. Visited for Lunch today and It sure was busy for a monday, My gf and I took and stroll down the street and chose this place because it was the busiest, the service was swift and friendly, I ordered the prawns and my gf the scallops both were very generous portions and so flavoursome, Must be true chefs who pride themselves on presentation as our meals looked just to good to eat, wine glasses were so nice and big not like your average glass, we will be back!

I wonder if you stopped to have a think about the fact that this long standing successful business might just have a following of regular customers that have written those reviews, They must be doing something right in order to be packed out everyday, did the owner not respond to your rudeness is that why you feel it right to rant about it on this website, This is a place were unhappy people may validate their feelings so they may feel better, Im sure you don't understand the mechanics behind running a business so I wouldn't comment on another's choices or other peoples positive words, make your own opinions
Excellent, professionally run establishment.. After numerous visits (weekends & during week days) "Between Us" has delivered great dishes with unyielding consistency. It doesn't overcomplicate, but still gives great attention to detail. The staff are well-versed and attentive without being annoying. The internal décor is warm, friendly, inviting, with a chic and sophisticated elegance. This is a boutique, tucked away, adamantine little gem that should be experienced.
It's certainly worth the long drive my partner and I undertake to eat there. Perhaps we will try lunch or dinner one day.
Lovely and Consistent.. I have been here a number of times now and I come for a fair distance - I am very pleased to say how consistently good, the food, coffee, and service has always been. Lovely atmosphere - happy to recommend and that is rare for me.
Hungry no more!. My mate and I arrived early monday morning so hungry after a big weekend, the waitress was friendly and ordered our coffees as soon as we arrived, so pleased we didnt wait long as we needed them, they were nice and hot and quality beans, nice to see a barista who doesnt make warm coffee, great place to have a good size meal
Don't believe negative review by Chris. The owners of this cafe are far from money hungry! As the had a free candy buffet for customers to help themselves to celebrate a 2 year anniversary, this is very RARE and so so KIND, the lollies were delicious and the salt water taffy from America most certainly not cheap, I have booked the communal table on many occasions and because I specified to book the entire table the staff accommodated happily, nice to see staff happy to be there and always striving to make a customer satisfied! Thanks for your hard work
Canterbury's top cafe. First time visitor and so happy with service, arriving in the midst of their lunch rush, we were seated within 10 min of arriving when some busy cafe's leave you standing for over 20 min, drink orders taken right away and received shortly after, staff notified us their kitchen was short staffed so meals would be 20 min, so appreciative we were told although completely understand as they were the busiest cafe on the strip, delicious food, worth the wait, friendly staff
Breakfast here is truly amazing! The barista is brilliant and so warm and friendly. The best coffee in the area. The staff are welcoming and extremely friendly. Attention to detail is there thing at Between Us. The staff are always attentive and clearly enjoy working there. Would recommend in a heart beat.
Excellent cafe, nice and warm. Their signature salad and schnitzel were both great. The restaurant was very accommodating for our 3 young children by allowing them to order off the breakfast menu despite being past breakfast order time ( I am sorry the previous reviewer felt upset about this). Friendly staff. Cakes were heavenly. Will return.
An amazing establishment. Not very often you see a menu you want to try everything, and each dish does not disappoint! Amazing food and coffee delivered by friendly staff! I hear management is a mother and daughter team. Well done to them I say. I have been there a couple of times now and they are always busy, I'm sure many repeat customers back to try something different on their menu!
Best place on Maling rd!. Came here ravenous today. sat down for a while, not too long but patrons arriving after me were having menus and food brought out with no movement towards me. got up to order and the lovely couple next to me stepped in and took my order. apparently they were the owner and friend? anyway, lovely people, obviously keeping an eye on patrons and ensuring excellent service. an intuitive approach to customer service and highly welcome! salmon provencal was to die for and I'm sure my rose was more than a standard serve, thanks guys! this is why I drive from Mont Albert to Canterbury for lunch. just amaze!

Delicious & Delightful. I am so glad I took Mum here for Mothers Day afternoon tea. The experience was delightful and delivered on so many levels. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the customer was made to feel special with gifts and a real treat was experiencing the staff doing a "happy dance" in unison. The tea and coffee well made and hot (not lukewarm) and the cakes were sensational.The staff were prompt and friendly and reflected a professional can-do attitude. I highly recommend Between Us.

Delightful. I'm surprised this wonderful addition to Maling Road has such a low rating, as I've been here four or five times now and am consistently impressed. Coffee still isn't as good as Maling Room but the atmosphere is great and the menu more than adequate. Well worth a visit.
Great food.. Breakfast was very tasty with an excellent range (even a 'piccolo' size, which was perfect for the not-too-hungry misses). Staff were fairly friendly with the exception of one grumpy waitress. Coffee was the only significant disappointed as it lacked texture and was bitter.
Great idea. I like that I could order a 'Kid' size meal and not have to be under 12 ....PERFECT ... Didn't feel like a full meal, so rather than them miss out on a full order, makes sense to me to make that option available for all ....!

I've not gone beyond coffee and cake but can't fault the venue on that experience. An interesting and appropriate array of cakes on offer, fresh and tasty. Friendly and efficient staff. It is clean, has a good number of well spaced tables, comfortable chairs. Indoor and outdoor (with umbrellas) settings. Not an ideal location for street parking but a big carpark behind the strip shops accessed via a 'walk through' lane and/or the PO, is very convenient. I've only been weekdays but I'd guess weekends are flat out.
From the moment I stepped into this place, I was welcomed with open arms. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was out quickly. Do yourself a favour and try one of the many delicious cakes on display with a beautifully made barista coffee.
What an amazing accomplishment it is to come out the other side of the pandemic despite the constant challenges this beautiful cafe has endured; Staff shortages, in and out of lockdowns, and everyone in this place still had a smile on their faces.

The food was delicious and worth the wait but the staff were slow in serving the food. Surprisingly we waited the longest for our drinks and not our meals. Inside was loud with the music and talking but outdoor seating areas was good but they had hard seats. The fork that I had hadn't been washed properly but the staff were very apologetic and got a new one. Some of the waiters weren't wearing masks and there wasn't any covidcheck in at the door businuess have to have them now the need to add this. I would return but staff need to adjust to the restrictions.
We travel all the way from Adelaide and without a doubt we will always go see Rosie and her beautiful team to have a coffee and breaky. Our favourite place to eat! Keep up the amazing work and we will see you again soon ❤️
