I always make sure whenever I'm driving up to Cairns or going on the coast that I always stop here now at Jesse's Cardwell pies. It's located in the rest. Stop Just as you enter Cardwell from the Townsville side. There are heaps of carparks available as well as toilet facilities for a nice rest stop on your trip. During school holiday periods it can get quite busy, and sometimes pies may be sold out after lunch. All the pies are made fresh daily by Jesse himself and are ready to eat upon purchase. My favourite pie to get there is the beef and mushroom pie, and they also have the option of adding a scoop of mushy peas on top of your pie as well. There are a range of different pastry options available, as well as drinks and chips. Definitely recommend dropping in here if you are ever in the area and check out their pies. What a great spot to stop off for a break and enjoy one of the best pies in the North.

The pies are delicious. The crust is, I'd like to know who makes pastry like that. The filling is just right too. Hats off to the cook. We'll definitely stop any time we go through.
