Review Kimchi Grandma - Carnegie

Stephanie K
My favourite Korean restaurant. Especially love the Fried Chicken and Beef ribs. Takoyaki lacked a lot of flavour, not crispy. The chicken ginseng soup lacked ginseng flavour... I assume they used a packet rather than it being home made but still enjoyed it and meat was tender!

My second visit and will absolutely be going again. Service was warm, friendly and professional. We ordered the Pork ribs, potatoe noodles and pork fried dumplings. The ribs were spectacular, not too spicey, great flavour and falling off the bone. The potato noodles were delicious and the dumplings perfect. šŸ§”

Been here may times. It is not as busy as previous years. Food is still good however the Banchan are not offered and now you have to order and pay for them. Come on donā€™t do this. Service as just ok. Might be my lay time here :(
Keven Luan
Decent Korean restaurant if you select the right menu items. Had the spicy beef bulgogi, spicy cold noodles and kimchi don. The spicy beef bulgogi is decent and popular. The spicy cold noodles were bad. The kimchi don is great and very filling. Expect to spend around $20/person.
Shahram K.
Large portion of foods. The price is reasonable and the food is moderately good. The place is normal not a fancy restaurant.
Katy ST
Everythingā€™s on average. I like the sauce of the ribs. First time being charged for sides in a Korean restaurant.

Everything comes in big portions! Highly recommended fried tofu, bibimbap and seafood soup. The kimchi pancake wasnā€™t as good as we expected, but in general was okay. It was a bit cold inside of the restaurant so make sure you dress properly. Staffs were really friendly and helpful, quick service. The best thing in the restaurant was the kimchi! 10/10 absolutely delicious! They do sell it in containers, itā€™s cheaper than buying from Asian store.

$25 for seafood stir fry udon??? Iā€™d pay $30 for that!! It was amazing šŸ‘šŸ½šŸ‘šŸ½ full of flavour and seafood ingredients. I recommend everyone to try it šŸ˜€
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
We where meant to eat at shyun ramen bar but they made us wait 40 mins after telling us it would be 20 mins. So we decided to go somewhere els. Thatā€™s when we stumbled upon this restaurant. My partner really wanted ramen where as I really wanted Korean bbq! When we arrived here I thought it was bbq but it wasnā€™t. Thatā€™s ok. <br/><br/>We ordered spicy beef soup that was amazing. Full of kimchi and good amount of spice.<br/><br/>We order bbq pork ribs. This was a little let down. Because the waiter said these ribs are totally different from<br/>The soup with the ribs inside. When the ribs arrived they had net been bbq. It looks like there from a soup :-(<br/><br/>Over all the taste was good just the service was not up to scratch.
Steph
Celebrated my birthday here which a crowd of nearly 20 ppl. Reasonably priced food and good portion.<br/><br/>šŸ—“ Visited in August 2016

Came here last night at 8 pm and was seated immediately! Meals came in fast and service was prompt. Loved all the dishes I ordered, the meals are a big size so make sure you come empty stomach! <br/><br/>PS: Must try the seafood pancakes.

Yet another not so cheap and cheerful Korean restaurant on the Koornang Road strip. The service was friendly and the dumplings were good however the meat that constituted the bulk of the Bul-Go-Gi was, unfortunately, very chewy and not appetising.
Lauren Prentice
Out of the seaweed salad, seafood pancake, ribs and tteokbokki, my favourite one was the seafood pancake. It wasn't too doughy and the accompanying sauce added a nice flavour. The ribs and tteokbokki were both unfortunately not spicy enough despite being called "spicy", although that comes down to personal preference.<br/>The seaweed salad was good, but nothing particularly special.<br/>The service was pretty good. The food was brought out fairly quickly and the waiters were not rude or impolite.

Quick service... tasty food, beef ribs were nice however very chewy, better to eat in smeller pieces. Rice cake very nice, Overall good experience

Not the place to go for if you're looking for good authentic Korean food.<br/><br/>Yookgaejang (spicy beef soup) was definitely not authentic - didn't even use the correct ingredients (had bok choy, mushroom and too much bean sprouts). Kimchi pancake was too thick, you'd only taste the batter. Galbi (beef short ribs) was the worst. Beef was tough, too sweet and tasted as if it was old beef but covered and marinated in thick sauce to hide the fact it was old.<br/><br/>It was also expensive. Portions were large but wasn't worth it.<br/><br/>Never going back - was quite the disappointment tonight.
Alvin Lee
Today we ordered:<br/><br/>Beef Bulgolgi<br/>Spicy BBQ Chicken<br/>Seafood Pancake<br/>Soybean Stew<br/><br/>The dishes were all so tasty! The spiciness of the chicken was pretty mild, but if you like spicy food, feel free to ask them to make it more spicy. One of my favourite korean restaurants in Carnegie!
M3lissa____
An oldie but a goodie, they have amazing korean dishes and its perfect for sharing. The favourite is the la galbi ribs
Stella
portions are amazing! ordered the salmon naengmyeon and wow they're so generous w the amount of salmon!! very impressive!! the kimchi pancake was really good too!! overall would rate 4.5/5 but that option isn't available - quality overall is great, just not rating it a 5/5 since i've had better korean food
Stephen
Still good food here<br/><br/>Pork spare ribs<br/>Beef bulgogi <br/>Beef spare ribs were all good.<br/>Hite, OB , Cass. Beer were good value and went down real well.<br/>Gave 3 stars because I was disappointed with just 3 banchan side dishes. I remember they had much more. Please donā€™t be so stingy.<br/><br/>
@_@
One of my favourite Korean eatery. Dare I say, the best pork bulgogi in town. The taste is so different to all the other Korean eateries. Also comes with two bowls of rice. The pork stew and the seafood noodle were also amazing. Pricing is on par with other places and the portions are generous.
Ramieleatsshootsandleaves
Enjoyed the atmosphere of this place, and one of the most delicious japchaes I've come across - mighty bbq aroma and flavours!<br/><br/>Also really like their roasted eggplant dish, paired with bulgogi beef.<br/><br/>Great place for groups
Blair He
Nice food and service. Don't like the tofo because it's too oil. Other dish are pretty good! Squid is spicy and sweet, quite a lot in one plate. The chicken soup is very nice for rainy night.
Savvy And Lifestyle
Came here for lunch and itā€™s really lively, upbeat and has a nice sense of vibe here. I opted for the miso soup, seaweed salad and fish salad. Everything was so delicious and Devine. Nothing felt heavy it was so light especially the salads they were definitely fresh, service was very attentive Iā€™ll definitely be back.
Hazel
Came here multiple times and the food & service have been consistently great. Loveeee their beef bulgogi, kimchi soup & japchae! Also their side dishes are amazing!
Andrea
The food here is great, I would give it a 3.5 though as the flavour of the stew we got we on the sweeter side. It lacked a bit of a punch I've had at local Korean joints, although you get your bang for your buck. There was a imbalance between meat and vegetable in the stew, far to much beef for my liking.<br/><br/>The pancake was great, as it was super crispy and had lots of seafood scattered throughout. I would recommend this! The panchan was also nice, the Kimchi and soybeans were nice.<br/><br/>This is a great place to bring a date, or groups of up to 10. Its got a cozy setting and warm ambience.

My favourite Korean restaurant in carnegie and its surrounding suburbs. Beef bulgogi & spicy bbq chicken have heaps of flavour and the serving size for the price is much better value than others, strongly recommend this place if you like youā€™re Korean food or want an introduction to Korean cuisine !
Bun's Food Diaries
This place has plently of seating but does get rather packed and noisy. We got here early Friday night and there was a queue on the way out. Good place for some loud conversation and larger group gatherings but too much if you want a place with some peace and quiet. I quite enjoyed the chap chae noodles. The beef spare ribs were a let down as meat was tough, it was nice of them to leave a pair of scissors behind though. The tofu entree was pleasant and nice to have with the sweet broth.
Richard Tom
Had a very great time here, the food was very tasty with heaps of umami, the takoyaki was cooked to point and the seafood pancake was crispy as can be, with the bibimbap to accompany the rest of the meal, definitely worth coming in.
Rifan Thamrin
This is the best Korean restaurant around Carnegie for sure! The price is an absolute bang for the buck for the serving sizes. Their pancakes were delicious and everything else was just so flavourful!
Tj Peco
The rice tea they give you is great. Can be a little hard to get the waitress attention when itā€™s busy but the food is good for what you pay. Big fan of their cold noodles and galbi
Hello. Imnikki
It is only when you're searching for food after 9pm on a weekday when you become less picky and just want to get fed ASAP. My first choice was already closed for the day, so I basically just looked around, spot Kimchi Grandma and walked in. No time to dilly dally, I need food and I need it now!<br/><br/>Luckily this grandma made sure I was well fed in the shortest amount of time possible. Not sure what sorcery the kitchen was up to but our dishes came out in less than 10 minutes.<br/><br/>The Goon-Manh-Doo (Korean dumplings) were fat and juicy, and really hit the spot. The dumpling skin was just thick, yet not too thick enough, so that we got a good ratio of dumpling skin and meaty filling with each bite.<br/><br/>The kimchi stew was a warm bowl of delicious goodness. It was however, comparable to most good kimchi stew out there so I wouldn't say it was something extraordinary.<br/><br/>The bibimbap, on the other hand, was one of the more generous serving of bibimbap I have had. Picture does it no justice. I couldn't finish it and I had to take away this yummy bowl of fresh assorted veggies, and tender meat. Great flavours on its own and even more flavourful with the gochujang sauce.<br/><br/>All the staffs were very lovely and welcoming, making us felt right at home, as would one feel at your grandma's house.
Littlefoodiekiki
My family and I are a huge fan of Korean food and this restaurant has become one of our favourites. Although it is quite far from where we live, it is worth the distance. The portions of the meat and dishes were quite large and great to share. The flavour is very strong so if you arenā€™t into that then be cautious. The galbi ribs are the best Iā€™ve had in Victoria, the sauce is sweet, but salty. The Bulgogi is not too dry or too salty. And the japche was a perfect blend of veggies and meat, complimenting the chewy, but soft sweet potato noodles. Service was great, with the staff always willing to fill up the condiments. All meals come with kimchi, pickled veggies and more! Overall, a great place to come!
Willtravelforfood17
We came by 40 mins before closing time and were asked to order inmediately as they were closing. We ordered the spicy beef ribs, tofu soup, katsu chicken and kimchi pancake. The spicy beef ribs were so tender and flavourful - hands down my favourite dish. The kimchi pancake was thick and full of kimchi - it went well with the dipping sauce. The tofu soup was thick and comforting. The only dish I didnā€™t like so much was the chicken katsu - the crumb was too thick and the meat was underseasoned and dry inside. 20 minutes to closing they started cleaning up and we felt pressured to leave so we hurriedly finished our food and left with indigestion. The food was pretty good though and we will be back especially for those ribs!
Streaky Eats
Had the bibimbap with pork and a side of beef bulgogi.<br/><br/>The bibimbap portion was on the big side but I find it had too much rice and meat portion was too small. The beef bulgogi was the highlight here, generous amount of meat and very flavourful, the better idea next time is to order the beef bulgogi with a side of rice for a satisfying meal.
Kaseyzz
This is a cozy place and staff are all friendly. We came here at about 6:30pm but fortunately there were not many people in so we can choose where we would like to be seated. Food was amazing esp the seafood udon. 2 main dishes are definitely enough for two people.
Caroline Beaney
I got a bibimbap delivered to my place tonight thanks to Deliveroo. It came with miso soup and a container of gochujang sauce. I wish there had been more gochujang sauce.... two containers are definitely needed. The dish was a bit cold, and it was different not eating the dish in a stone bowl because it was a home delivery.... Over all it was tasty but I much prefer Miss Koreaā€™s bibimbap. I am glad I tried it though. Definitely recommend eating bibimbap in store though and not takeaway. Plus I wish the takeaway bowl had been bigger since it made it difficult to mix all the ingredients together when the bowl was too small.
Amanda Alkira
Yummy hearty Korean food. I am lucky to live so close to this restaurant, as they serve up delicious dishes and I always leave with a full belly and smile on my face!

Great atmosphere, authentic Korean food.Ā There is a nice and spacious dining environment.<br/>Staff are very friendly and the restaurant serves complimentary rice, tea and a large variety of side dishes.Ā <br/>Prices are very reasonable and the food is of high quality. Dishes are packed with flavour and taste fresh.Ā <br/>I recommend the spicy beef ribs, grilled eel and seafood pancake. Definitely coming back again.

Good food, good services. We ordered the spicy octopus (not really spicy though), ginseng chicken soup and stir fried noodles and were happy with all of them. The food came out quick and nice. Will definitely come back to try the beef ribs šŸ˜Š

Great food, great service! This large restaurant in the heart of Carnegie has a range of Korean dishes on the menu. The food comes out quickly and the tables turn over fast, but the atmosphere is casual with friendly staff and great service. Our meal (2 mains, one shared entree and a drinks) was just under $60. The kimchi was excellent too!
Frittata
Pretty yummy food although on the slightly more expensive side. With so many more affordable Korean places opening up near by, I havenā€™t been back to this place in a while.
Jess
Attentive staff...<br/>Been here many times. Staffs are always friendly. Not a big fan of the Seafood Casserole, the spicy soup leaves a strange after taste (I think its the chilli powder). The Spicy Beef/Port BBQ is too sweet. I used to like the deep fried tofu, but this time its a bit soggy. My favorite is the ginseng chicken soup and the grilled eel. Complimentary rice tea. Prices are a little dearer than similar restaurant.

Delicious food and fast, friendly service!!! Recommend the kimchi jjigae, croquette and kimchijeon. This place gets really busy but we didnā€™t have to wait long to get seated. Good choice in Carnegie!!
Susie Jiang
Friendly service, not noisy. The stone rice taste great, it has rice, soup, various vegetable, meat and side dish. I will definitely visit regularly.
Stelly
A fast, casual and affordable Korean restaurant, conveniently located a short walk away from Carnegie station. The food is okay, however service can be a little standoffish at times.<br/><br/>We ordered the kimchi stew, potato korokke and bibimbap, along with three side dishes which were provided. The kimchi stew was flavourful but a little too salty, however it balanced out well with the white rice. Although the bibimbap was topped generously with lots of vegetables and meat, the hot stone was not quite hot enough so we werenā€™t able to get the desired ā€˜charā€™ on the bottom of the rice (or maybe because the rice was a bit too wet and mushy). The potato korokke, however, were really crispy on the outside and perfectly soft and fluffy on the inside. <br/><br/>Overall, itā€™s a decent place to go for locals if youā€™re craving authentic Korean food.
Josh Andres
We had the tofu, BBQ bulgogi, chicken soup ginseng. Really good flavour, service and well priced. The side dishes are delicious and fresh, kimchi šŸ‘

Have been to this restaurant for a few times. Their Gal-Bi is so small in portion and I would recommend Yami Yami in CBD if you want better LA Galbi. Their Ribs are not good neither, meat is too hard. Bul-Go-Gi, Dae-Ji-Bul-Go-Gi and jinseng chicken soup are OK, same taste like most of other Korean restaurants.<br/>Overall, not too bad but nothing special at all.
FoodLoverQueenM
First try in Carnegie for Korean food. Great services for all time. Tofu and kimchi package are my favourite. Beef soup is also nice. Good option for dinner.
Moieats
One of the popular Korean restaurant in Koornang Road. <br/>Ambience : 4/5. Spacious dining area. Ample space for diners to move around. Decors are simple, minimal and inviting. <br/>Food : 4/5. Seafood is fresh. Dishes are with flavor. Tofu was soft and silky. The kimchi was spicy and enjoyable just how I like it. <br/>Service : 5/5. Great service! Waitress were quick to attend to us; getting us to our table and taking orders. Food came fairly quick. We often had to take away leftovers and they did not charge us extra for doggy bags or containers. <br/>Highly recommended : For authenticity of the food and excellent service. <br/>Will definitely come back like always.

Finally got the opportunity to try the place after shopping at chaddy. We got the chicken ginseng soup which tasted similar like the soup my mum makesšŸ˜‚. She enjoyed the soup. We also had the seafood fried udon which tasted delicious and came with a lot of seafood and was more worth it. We had an array of side dishes which made the meal very filling!

I have my favourite Korean restaurants in this locality that I frequent and though I donā€™t eat at Kimchi Grandma as often as I used to, itā€™s a place that you can certainly depend on if you want home-cooked Korean cuisine. Food has remained consistent and authentic throughout the years which is testament to the crowds that continue to patronise Kimchi Grandma. Standard sized portions of what youā€™d expect to pay for Korean food. Good menu offerings of Korean dishes. Love their sizzling meats and soups. Good attentive service. This place is definitely an institution that is here to stay and will long remain.
Food Junkie
This place is an institution. Been here as long as I can remember. The food have always been good and my family always love the spicy stir fries and soups. Always generous with their side dishes. Food always comes out quickly, perfect when you are starving (which I always seemed to be lol). <br/>Hope to visit again soon.
Nomafoodic Chipineats
Very good soya bean paste beef soup, bibimbap and kimchi condiments also a wide range of flavours. Good service, came in late at night when about to close but did not feel rushed.
Munchie Master
Went here for Motherā€™s Day, all left pleased. Nice selection of mains but would like to see more entree options. A bit pricey though not unreasonable. Ordered the Hae Mul Chon-Gol (casserole), very flavorsome and so tender. Also got the tofu twi - gim, and Spicy pork bbq ribs, all get a thumbs up. The Octopus balls were very nice but could have a better octopus to batter ratio, too much batter.
Bubbles
Great portion, authentic food, great place to catch up with frens and have some beer. The ribs goes very well with beer for sure! Definitely one of my regular place.
Kei
Probably my third visit here. Your average Korean restaurant, nothing much to say. The type where you donā€™t come all the way for, but is a backup plan if youā€™re around the area.<br/><br/>Ordered<br/>- Soondubu: Flavour was nice, but not the best Iā€™ve had.<br/>- Spicy pork: Really flavourful, a personal favourite. Although I wished it came quicker, as I was full by the time it arrived.<br/>- Seafood stir-fried udon: Was pleasantly surprised by the generous serving of seafood. Flavour was really well done too.<br/><br/>Ambience: The loud customers did my head in. Not the restaurantā€™s fault, but it ruined my experience.<br/><br/>Service: The service today was particularly bad, but could be because they were understaffed on Anzac Day. Still, nothing can excuse the almost 15 min+ wait between each of the three dishes we ordered.
Helen
Fairly average food given the price point. The meat dishes (ribs etc) are around 30 dollars per plate. The ribs I ordered (beef and pork) were both quite chewy and tough, marinated in that sweet sauce. Service was okay, the typical service youā€™d receive at an Asian restaurant.
Zoe
The food is so delicious best Korean had had so far the quality and taste of even dishes Iā€™ve had elsewhere want anything in comparison. Want to try other dishes- they have a great range also. Only thing would be if the service was more attentive
Alwayshungry
Have ordered the seafood pancake take away. The tasteā€™s alright but Whereā€™s my seafood? All I can find here is one tiny calamari so that I cannot go back and complain about thereā€™s no seafood in it??Thatā€™s not the way you treat customers who order take away.
ZzzPpl
Food is authentic, a bit pricy though. Environment is ok. Service is good. I probably would recommend this place for Korean food in this area.
Charlotte Cooper
The food is authentic, the seafood from the hot pot is very fresh. The appetisers were very well made. The only bad thing is you are sitting way too close to the other customers.
Eatalatte
Definitely flavours more suited to non-Korean taste buds. The food isn't bad but when we have grown up on those dishes, its definitely a LOT sweet and not quite what it traditionally tastes like. <br/>Had the pork ribs and soon dubu jjigae here. The ribs despites being less spicy and sweeter than what we were expecting, were quite tender and nice. Only wish that they serving size was a bit bigger than what we got. The jjiagae however was not great... too sweet ( why....). We asked if they could make it more spicier as my friend was not anymore of that stuff but came back to us just the same... <br/>I use to come here as a kid with my family often, back when the OG kimchi grandma was looking over the resturant. Its a bit sad that her legacy hasnt quite truly been kept by the current management of the resturant now...

When in need for a decent, Korean meal, Kimchi Grandma is a contender - with its large selection of authentic Korean dishes and its friendly staff, you are bound to have a fulfilling dining experience. Flavours throughout the dishes are hearty. Still as good as from my younger childhood memories.
Tran Minh Tu
I had a great meal today @Kimchi Grandma. Seafood pancake was crispy with abundant fillings. The super tender spicy beef ribs were literally the super star of the meal. Then we ended up with the fresh and interesting cold noodle. My cravings on Korean food were totally satisfied. Definitely come back to try more dishes !
Burgers Of Melbourne
Good value for money. You won't leave here hungry that's for sure. An authentic meal that you know will make everyone happy. The staff don't speak much English but the menus have pictures!
Foodie Goodie
Use to love this place however portion sizes has now decreased a fair bit. Still one of my favourite Korean places though. Their potato korroke are to die for!
Johnny
Very warm, inviting place. Service was friendly and efficient. The menu was quite extensive with something for everyone. I enjoyed my Sashimi rice which, nice and fresh. Other dishes were generally tasty but nothing spectacular, seemed like very standard asian cuisine.
The Dear Luncher
A late night out and Kimchi Grandma had Your Dear Luncher's name all over it. Well it was mainly because a table could not be acquired at a similar establishment over the road. So much food was ordered the staff had to park other items on another table. In retrospect The Dear Luncher and his fellow glutton perhaps should have ordered less, but that's OK. The highlight of the session was easily the spicy beef ribs, they were excellent. The other meals, not really as exciting. Worth another visit however.
Syt
My favourite local Korean place. Can't go wrong especially if in need of a nice warm meal. The bulgogis are good as well as the seafood pancake.
CJ
We went to Kimch Grandma for dinner yesterday. We booked through Zomato but needed to change the time due to the traffic. They were happy to change our reservation time and it went so smoothly. We ordered Spicy Beef Bulgogi, Dok Boki and Mandu-guk soup. The dishes came out quickly. Altough the potion is small for the price, the taste is good!
Silvia Forese
They serve hou hot tea the moment you sit down. The food is served in hot stone pots that keep it warm while you eat! Amazing! Never had korean food before and I definetely like it!
Vt
Our family favourite for no fuss and tasty Korean. Service is fast and the food arrives to the table promptly. The price you pay, servings are generous.
Aria L
Have been here twiceļ¼Œ at the first time I order Ginseng chicken soup and seafood pancake , which I enjoy lot. This time, I order seafood casserole, there are lots of assorted seafood, but I in terms of flavor, it is a bit too light and less salty, would order something else next time.
Flying Forward
This place has been around forever, even before the Korean wave came in. Although it's on the pricier side, you do get decent side dishes, and the flavours and options on the menu are pretty legit. My Korean friends rate it...and so do I. Nice portions too.
Liang Vuong
Came here with the girlfriend one cold wintery night, I had the Bibimbap and the girlfriend had... some dish... that had soup... and.. stuff. Anyways, my dish was a decent serving but very bland with very little meat, just imagine that you took a table spoon and shoved it into a bowl of thinly sliced beef and heaped a bunch on the spoon then dumped it on your food, that's how much meat there was (hardly any). <br/><br/>The girlfriends food looked flavorful but when she gave me some soup to try I thought I was drinking warm water with red food coloring in it, it was that bland. It looked like it should have burnt me dead from the inside out but it didn't, much to my dismay. <br/><br/>I will not come here again. Also the prices were too expensive.
Nadia
I do think this is my favourite place if not in Melbourne, at least in south eastern suburbs. Every single time it's delicious, it's fresh, service is great. It's packed no matter what day it is. And best of all portions are so generous! Recommended for a quiet Tuesday dinner with your significant other, as well as family or friends get together
Mei Yee
Friday night peak hour and we felt like Korean!! <br/>Got a seat straight away which is always a good thing . <br/>Took a while to get the attention of the floor staff to order . <br/>We ordered the 'Bim Bi Bap ' which was delicious ! Generous serving of vegetables, could have had more beef, but nevertheless was piping hot and fresh. The rice was a little soft for my liking , maybe a little over cooked...:: The spicy beef bulgogi was nice, very tasty but a tad on the sweet side... which detracted from the other flavours . <br/>The seafood pancake was massive! It was nice and crispy but a little too oily...<br/>Overall it was good food, the plates came out quickly . I liked the little condiment plates, kimchi is always a winner .
Nina Shu
great food. every dishes that I had were tasty. For me the restaurant looks like more family restaurant, nice place for good food. I will recommend the seafood udon.
Jamey Campbell
Nice place to have dinner. Busy, but place was turning over the customers very fast. Seafood pancake was my favourite, also had spicy BBQ pork ribs which were yummy! Will being going back there very soon.
May
Lovely ambience and prompt service. I thought the food was pretty authentic and delicious flavour wise. Had the stone bimbimbap and seafood udon which were both served in huge portions. The seafood however wasn't fresh and pipies had sand in them. Hubby felt that the food can be more refined in terms of...
Omelette
Potato Croquette ā€¢ Beef Bulgogi ā€¢ Pork Bulgogi ā€¢ Kimchi Bab ā€¢ Tofu<br/>Wanted to have some Korean BBQ but ended up here with no regrets. Love every bit of food they served here. The bulgogi was well marinated and the potato croquette was really delicious. However, the kimchi rice was a bit too sour. I love that they have varieties of sides, and they all taste really good, especially the crunchy noodle. Overall the portions are really big so it's good to share.
Love Food
Beautiful food and awesome staff. Totally enjoyed the time and dining experience at this place. <br/>Ordered jap chae, beef bulgogi, baby octopus stir fry (mild spicy) and soon do bu Ji gae. Absolutely delicious food. <br/>The food came out very very quickly. And the spices are well mixed together with the dish. <br/>This is a place I would recommend going with group as everyone can sample every dish to their hears content. All the portions are very generous. <br/>Definitely will come again. <br/>Cheap and money well spent.
JB
Firstly the serves are so big you couldn't even jump over them! Fast food delivery service, with pleasant waitstaff. Food was very tasty, the spicy ribs although not spicy were very good as too the seafood pancake and spicy soup. Definitely worth going for a cheap eats night out.
Brenda Nguyen
One of my favourite Korean Restaurants to go to, friendly service and food is always amazing! The spicy beef ribs are a must try and the bibimbap is always a good go to meal.<br/>
DouDou
The best Korean restaurant in Carnegie. We enjoyed the meal and service. Waiters and waitresses here were friendly and patiently. We tried spicy pork BBQ and Kim-Chi-Tchi-Gae. Kim-Chi-Tchi-Gae was very nice and not too spicy. Spicy pork BBQ was juicy and tasty but less meat.
Mai T Tran
Good Korean restaurant. We found their food flavourful. Seafood dishes come big serve and full of seafood. Seafood pancake must try, heaps of seafood in there and for only $11.50, it's really cheap for that price. Bbq dishes are alright, slightly above average. I think they're strong on their seafood dishes. Have tried stir fried seafood udon, bbq beef spare ribs, bbq pork and seafood pancake. They're all good and worth a try.
Lily Qiu
Visited on a weekday lunch, only two tables are occupied and one waitress (which looks like the owner) serving. Ordered 4 plate, the portion is more than enough for 4 ppl. The iron plate beef rib is the signature dish, bibimbap tasted good with a little crispness on the edge. Seafood is bit raw in the middle, and salad mix on the cold soba noodle is bit let down for me.
Leo
I have been here many many times. And the food and service is ok. I have tried the Bimbibap, bbq chicken and beef, seafood pancake and the meat stews. All tasty and not too bad. But I think Hakki across the street is better.
Fong Yeung
This is my first time coming to this restaurant.<br/>Same as the previous comment. The aircon was not cool at all . I was sweating during the meal.<br/>Another thing is, they put a stack of menu on the front desk but the price is mieleading.<br/>The rice bowl dish was 12.8 on the menu which i think is reasonable. When i took a seat , waitress gave me another menu and show the price was 15.8. The money is one thing, but i think this is misleading. There is no a single word telling me the cheaper price was actually a takeaway price.<br/>After the meal , i felt cheated and angry
Weijia Sun
Food is fine but service .... Me and my friend ordered two dishes, and end up in one dish, after 10 minutes still no dish and the waiter kept argue with me saying I didn't order the food. I didn't know why she kept argue without considering I have not yet got my food.<br/><br/>Aircon seems didn't fix after two weeks. Are you serious?
Food_fiend99
I did not have a good experience at this restaurant, similar to what another person said below- the air conditioner was not on and it was impossible to stay inside there. I had half a mind to just leave because it was so uncomfortably hot in there, there was not enough staff and they seemed confused and were not efficient. Had to ask twice for my drink order and twice for cutlery which came about 5 mins after my food arrived. The food itself was average, not too bad but nothing great. There were also children banging on tables for the whole time I was there which added to the unpleasant atmosphere, definitely would not return.
Kev0&#039;s Food Adventures!
The service was terrible, the aircon wasn't working and the restaurant was extremely hot inside. The food was average, ordered a few dishes. Ribs, calamari, chicken, nothing really stood out as wow this was really good.

Terrible service. We were sitting there for 20 minutes and no one comes around bringing the menu, and this is like 6:30pm when the place is not even busy or full. Never again.

Went there with a friend yesterday. There were lots of finished dishes on tables, not cleaned ( Not a great way to impress customer ). <br/>Ordered two dishes( 1 for each of us). Mine came about 10 min, then waited about 20min, still nothing for my friend. Asked the waitress (young girl works at the cashier), and she said we only ordered one meal and she confirmed it( No She didn't). She did not apologize and was being really rude, like it's our fault. Waited 10 more minutes, my friend finally got his stone pot( which usually take 5 min in other Korean restaurants). <br/>The food was actually great, with fair portion, but the service was unbearable, so I won't consider come back.

The restaurant was packed around 6pm.<br/>I was just wondering why people queuing at that time. Soon i realized the food was really delicious. I ordered Pork Spicy Ribs and Beef Soup.<br/>The ribs was tender and tasty, the soup was really good. <br/>Service also good, the only little problem i had was the food did not come together, aboutb5 minutes different, but that was a minor. <br/>Price is around 15-25Aud per main dish.<br/>Will definitely go back for more.<br/><br/>

I ordered bimbimbap but asked for pork instead of beef, the portion is big enough BUT it was a disappointment because it had only about 30 grams of meat. Staff were ok but we had to pay for a bowl of rice that we didn't order because we thought it came with the meal. Food are tasty though.<br/>

Kimchi Grandma is definitely a solid meal. Consistently good sizzling hot food and definitely delicious. We love the bibimbap, sizzling meat, and stews. The staff can sometimes be a little absent-minded though. Chairs with drips not wiped down, clearing our food when we said we wanted to take the leftovers away... They're sincere and polite, but not always "present". We still go back every time though. ;)

The food over here is heaven!!! The price is a little bit more pricey compared to other Korean places. The service is always friendly and attentive even though they were busy.<br/>Recommend to try their beef ribs and pork ribs. Their soup is also not to missed on a rainy cold winter day. Cheers! Enjoy guys :)

The staff here are friendly, helpful and quick. This has added to my ranking, so it's worth mentioning. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. Great stews/soups and the ribs and BBQ meats are all delicious. It's not a BBQ place where you cook at the table but why not leave it with the professionals sometimes, you'll smell less of smoke ;) <br/>Great Korean option in Carnegie

My go to place for Korean food in Carnegie. I like the kimchi chiggae, potato croquette and pancake. It can be a bit towards flavourful or salty for many people though. I've tried the fried chicken dish and didn't like it.

Massive servings for the price. The food is ok, nothing amazing though. We ordered the spicy beef ribs, which weren't really spicy at all and was a little bit inconsistent with some bits really juicy and tender whilst others were far too grisly or dry. The bibimbab was ok as well but needed a lot more pork and I quite liked the seafood pancake but it definitely needed the dipping sauce, without which it would've been really bland. Loved the free sides though, every decent Korean restaurant should have free kimchi and side dishes.

The foods in Kimchi Grandma were simply delicious and satisfying! No doubt the service of the place was busy, we had to wait to be seated and it didn't took that long for us to find a seat anyway.<br/><br/>We've ordered the Soon-Doo-Boo-Tchi-Gae (Pork and Seafood Mix Stew), Hae-Mul Pa-Jeon (Seafood Pancake) and Dok-Bok-Ki (Spicy Rice Cake Noodle)! <br/>All of the dishes are tasty. I like how all of the meals are not salty and just enough spiciness in it. The portion of each is actually worth the price. Both the pancake and seafood were full of the seafood mix! So good!! The rice cake noodle was so chewy and the spicy sauce was great too ! Side dishes were OK as well. <br/><br/>Overall, it was a pleasant experience. For me, the place can be a little bit noisy but it works just fine.
