Great friendly staff!! The breakfast options are divine. Waffles and pancakes amazing. With a great courtyard. It's hard to go past Figjam.

Overall: 9/10
We’ve been to this place a couple of times now and have been pleased everytime. Warm and friendly staff. Food is delicious just the right size and very satisfying. Kids are offered crayons/books. Reasonable priced and tasty kids menu always keeps them happy. Would definitely come here again and recommend to all our friends.
One of my favourite weekend brunch cafe.
Went here over the weekend for brunch and was seated out the back of the cafe. It was really cozy and had homely feel to it.
Going out for brunch I often try to stray away from the typical smashed avo but I had a real craving and when the menu says with pomegranate seeds I'm a huge sucker. I ended up ordering the 'avocado 2 ways' ($19) and added a side of bacon which was cooked to perfection, crispy and delicious. It was a very generous serving with 2 slices of toast and a poached egg. Would definitely order again when very hungry!
My friend ordered the 'Mr Benny' ($18) which came with ham hock on a sweet potato rosti, definitely delicious and elements of complexity I wouldn't be able to whip up at home. Well worth it.
Coffee was on point also, I went an almond milk cap as I'd already filled my cow's milk quota for the day and I was pleasantly surprised. Almond milk was creamy with a decent amount of froth.
Service was excellent and very attentive. I'd walked past Figjam hundreds of times as I frequent Carnegie often and kicking myself I haven't eaten there earlier.
Was in the area at about lunch time on a Wednesday.
Enjoyed the mushrooms breakfast dish with a pot of jasmine green tea.
A most delicious and tasty dish that was presented appealingly.
Lovely friendly staff.
Quick service.
Cafe has a back room and courtyard too.
Great breakfast! You can take your dogs along and have a nice meal without interruptions. The fresh juices are delicious and I sudnt think fried kale would taste so good with the toast.
I had one of their breakfast burger. It was the perfect size, not too big and not too small. The brioche bun was delicious and also not too sweet. The fried egg was also slightly under cooked, just how I like it.
They have indoor seating as well as outdoor/ back seating. Really great ambiance, really nice place for breakfast/ brunch!
I sometimes eat brunch here. I always feel. It's cozy and nice here. There are outdoor tables at the back, so this seat is very nice on a fine day.
Coming here for last 7-8 yrs and it still got the old charm and mouth watering food. Watching the busy street while waiting for order is fun as well.
A+++
Figjam is one of our family favourite cafes. Love the vibe, the very friendly staff and the quality of the coffee. They have amazing tumeric lattes.
Typical brunch setting. Eggs were slightly over cooked, hot chocolate and soy latte were mediocre. Favourites was the crispy chicken burger and the breakfast board which offered a good selection. Average pricing, may return if in the area.
I’ve been here several times and they’ve never let me down. Highly recommend giving them a visit and trying their house shake (peanut butter and Nutella).
Food was great, service was quick and the ambience was above par.. I had the Mushroom dish, rainbow char wasn't available 😞 but the spinach replacement was a fair substitute!
Absolutely LOVE this place, I’m local and my mum and I come here Every week for breakfast! All the staff are
Absolutely gorgeous and always cater to my annoying dietary requests without fuss or hesitation, coffee is always made perfectly, food is amazing and the portions are generous! Service is always above and beyond :)

A quaint little cafe in Carnegie, that I never really considered to be a top brunch place, but just another instance of "don't judge a book by it's cover". The staff are super friendly, they have plenty of indoor and outdoor (courtyard) seating and serve both lunch and breakfast options. I went here on two occasions, in 2016 and 2017, and have combined the review here.
I've been here many times before always trying different dishes but this one dish (Brioche French toast) blew me away! It looked amazing just like a rainbow on a plate and it tasted DIVIIIIIINNEE!!!
There's a "cloud" of vanilla custard under it all and the fresh fruits and pistachio crumbles compliment it so well.
Red velvet pancakes is perfect. If you like gooey soft hot cakes, definitely try this! The pancake doesn't sweet at all, ice cream and cream are sweet, and raspberry jam balances the sweetness very well.
The owner of this cafe is so lovely and the food is to die for! We ordered a few dishes to share and they were all delicious! Personal favourites were the fritters and the smashed avo with beetroot relish - highly recommend!
Absolutely nice choice for your brunch 😀😀the backyard is cool. The red velvet is delicious and the mushrooms one is yummy as well. Good place to meet friends!
What a fabulous cafe in Carnegie. I came here for brunch with a friend as we were in the area. When the deco is quiet dated however the food and service makes up for this. I ordered the mushrooms on toast it was a huge pile of sauteed mixed mushrooms, creme fraiche, melted pecorino cheese and a perfectly poached egg on two slices of olive bread. My friend had the sweet potato, kale and quinoa fritters. I loved the avocado and lime mousse when I had a bite of her meal. The service was fantastic, the owner spoke to everyone who came in, we will be back for more, especially when the figs have grown in the courtyard.
PSA: Their menu on zomato is out of date, but don't let that stop you. Way more delicious choices in store. The food was delicious. So tasty that I ate too much and gave myself a bit of stomach discomfort after haha. Honestly though, can't fault it. Had the mushrooms with rainbow chard and an extra side of haloumi. It was my first time trying rainbow chard, so delicious and savoury, supposedly healthy as well! The whole dish came together beautifully, but it may be a touch salty for those who prefer clean eating. I'm usually not fussy about bread and most bread tastes the same to me, but their bread was really flavourful and soft in the right places, pleasantly surprising and went really well with the mushroom, chard and cheese. The mushrooms were really fresh, flavourful and delicious. The haloumi provided a deep umami flavour. I only wouldn't recommend mixing your egg yolk with the bread and mushrooms cos the egg yolk sweetens yet dulls down the flavour of the other ingredients. So yummy.
The service was alright, adequate I guess, I'm usually not too fussy about service as long as the staff aren't rude or condescending. Here, it was fine. Normal standard of service but a little inattentive at parts.
Ambience wise, nothing to shout about but I saw that they have a back garden or something which might be lovely in spring. Really convenient location as it's near the Carnegie train station!
The matcha latte was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it still tastes nice nonetheless. Barista could have exercised better skill with the art, since we're in Melbourne after all. But for those mushrooms, I will be back!
Brunch with some of my favourites this afternoon at an old favourite of mine. The service and the food were as good as I had remembered it to be. The staff were polite and friendly. Service was decent despite the fact that they had a full house. The waiters were also very apologetic when two of our ordered meals had already run out. I had the polenta fritters, T had the sweet potato and kale fritters, M had the avocado benedict and Mon had the red velvet pancakes. Great place to have a meal but as with most places on koornang Rd, parking was a nightmare...but don't let that deter you!
> Sweet potato, kale & quinoa fritters with poached eggs, avocado & lime mouse, Persian feta cheese, sriracha yogurt & dukkah spices <
The sweet potato, kale and quinoa fritters sounded incredible! It combined 3 of our favourite foods so we had to try it. At first we were not sure how it was going to work out, but when it arrived we were in awe. The quinoa was held together by the sweet potato and the kale worked so perfectly with the other two elements. The fritters were extremely filling and we scuffled them down extremely fast because we could not resist demolishing every crumb.

> Avocado benedict with pulled ham hock, poached eggs, topped with avocado hollandaise, served on house made hash brown <
This dish is very unique twist on the typical eggs benedict. The avocado hollandaise is so delicious, it tastes like avocado, but still has the tang of traditional hollandaise sauce. The hash brown is a perfect replacement of bread. It is very thick and large, which is great because you will be able to have a complement for every mouthful of egg. All the flavours work so perfectly together and we believe they have nailed this alteration.

> Red velvet pancakes with white chocolate ganache, chocolate soil, raspberry coulis, salted caramel ice cream + honeycomb crunch <
The first thing we have to say about these pancakes is WOW. They look so vibrant and thick and we were so excited to dig into them (after snapping the perfect pic of course 😉). They had a cake like texture where they were moist but fluffy, which is great if you have a sweet tooth. The raspberry coulis is a great addition to the dish as it breaks down the rich flavours of the pancakes, allowing you to demolish the entire dish without feeling sick. The salted caramel ice cream was probably the sweetest and creamiest part of this dish. It adds a smoother texture to the dish which enhances the flavour of the pancakes by balancing out the other rich flavours and textures. The honeycomb crunch is probably the best part of this dish. If you’re a honeycomb fan, then this is for you! It is a type cream with honeycomb flavourings and pieces inside, which is unbelievably delicious.

Had a lovely brekkie here this morning. Tried the Special - Creme Brûlée French Toast, how good does that sound? Good! Looked spectacular & tasted yum! The Wild Mushrooms was also awesome. Mushrooms were cooked to perfection, cheesy & those crispy fried enoki just lifted the whole dish! Enjoyable! 👍
Great service, creative food with flavour and zang! Staff and very friendly and coffee is fantastic. Takeaway coffee is always quick here.
Always enjoy something from here when I want something different. Thanks guys, great work.
Came for brunch on a Saturday and was seated in the courtyard. They have a lot of seating available, outside, inside, in the backroom and in the courtyard. The menu has a lot of nice options, which made it hard to choose. Ordered the poached eggs on toast with mushrooms, a camomile tea, and my partner ordered the avocado smash on toast. I really enjoyed the buttery mushrooms that came with my dish and my partner enjoyed his avocado smash too. But said it needed a bit more flavour because there was a lot of avocado and cheese and needed something to add a bit more kick.. Service is really friendly and we didn't have to wait too long for the coffees and teas to come out and the meals followed shortly after.
Very good I wouldn't day it was perfect the staff were friendly and the food was good but it takes along time for the food to come out when it is very busy so make sure you are able to wait
Today I went to figjam with a few friends and I got the triple Oreo stack. It was so sweet and chocolatey just what I needed this morning. My friends got savoury meals and a hash brown on the side. I was fortunate enough to have some and honestly best hash browns ever!!!
Coffee every morning for the past 4-5 years 👌🏼
Breakfast menu is great lots of options, staff is very friendly and welcoming treating everyone like family
Visited recently for lunch. I ordered the soft shell crab burger which was tasty but didn't taste any chilli, still the flavour was good, a generous sized burger and the chips very tasty! My daughter had the southern fried chicken burger which she said was awesome and my little one had the kids nuggets and chips, he especially loved his chocolate milkshake. We sat outdoors in the courtyard which was lovely.
Fantastic service and food came out relatively quickly ! I tried the dukkah eggs with the sweet potato hash and it was surprisingly well paired with the saltiness from the haloumi cheese. The healthy portion size is enough for a hungry soul, and really fills you up. Was in the area and decided to try this place out, I'm glad I did !
An old rustic cafe on a busy strip holing it's own with fresh dished food and good coffee's and this beaut of a monster double cheesy! .
Fig Jam is a café located on the busy food street of Koornang Road. They serve up a great selection of brunch options and the food is generous and delicious. Also a range of drink options to try out too!. Skim Cappuccino ~$3.80. Average coffee. 4/10. Figjam House Frappe $6.50 with Crushed Oreo Cookies, Ice Cream and Shot of Coffee

We went here a few years ago and hadn't been back until I recently spied the cool-looking offerings on their Insta account. Fast forward to Saturday's 'hangover with empty fridge' and Figjam was front of mind. The cool courtyard was welcoming and the tea was reviving. Husband and I both had the Hash Stack with salmon, avo etc and I added spinach. Yummers all 'round. The child had a berry smoothie with pancakes and all was devoured. Lovely to have a solid local option for breakfast again, particularly as Santianno's fell so far. Can't wait for our next (hangover-free) visit ☺.
I just wish it had a better name ...and better livery, but that's just me being fussy.
Always brings lots of joy revisiting old stomping ground ... especially for coffee or food.
We don't venture to Carnegie as much these days, 40 minutes away when Warrigal Rd is nor busy. Yes, we used to live nearby, Malvern East during my Uni student era. Carnegie did not have a lot of options in term of coffee and food, Caulfield had more.
A converted old house shop, furnished with bits and pieces of older furniture combined with some modern decor split into 4 areas; footpath, front, middle and courtyard at the back.
The young lady makes a smooth $4 Soy Latte with that La Marzocco and Community Roaster coffee beans.
Things might change a bit now, must make another visit to try the rest of their Menu and the rest of their plethora of goodness on the Koornung Rd esplanade.
Went there for breaky and was pleasantly surprised! Their breakfast menu is great, I tried their Egg and Bacon Roll which was simply delicious and was accompanied by a cappuccino. We also tried 2 other dishes both of which were great.
Overall good service, great staff and environment!
Do give it a try!
My favourite brekkie place! It's only 10 min walk from my house so I'm a bit biased.
They have a good selection of breakfast menu, but I wish they have more sweet menu (they have mostly savoury). The coffee is also pretty nice!
Good coffee and great intimate space. The food isn't doing anything new but it isn't phoning it in either. Reasonably priced and a nice bug out spot for a quiet brunch.
I love the relax atmosphere here every times I turn up and on some lucky days they tune up to the nice radio station. Their Latte is above average and most of the food taste good. My favorite is the boysenberry and yogurt cake. Never forget to ask for fresh cream to go with it. Yumm!!
great coffee, lovely food. great outdoor areas. excellent staff that take care of the regulars. the back area you cannot see from the street is beautiful for a meal.
Tried the special (beetroot and goats cheese croquettes) today and loved every bite! Seriously good food. I also indulged in a berry smoothie that was equally divine. Lovely service and lovely staff - would highly recommend!!!
Be careful as you may miss this along the busy area. But Figjam is worth visiting. With 3 different sections to sit in and good coffee for your mornings and weekends. We have the fried chicken burger which was good and the pancakes which were amazing!!

Nice place.
Ordered Chai Latte and Detox, Cleansing juice.
The Chai Latte's serving was fairly huge for its price. Temperature was just nice, and it tasted good as well.
For the Detox, everything in it was fresh fresh FRESH!
Overall, it was a good place just to chill with friends and loved ones.
Great environment and friendly staff. Service was quite quick on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered 3 meals and were happy with them all. Beetroot relish was amazing. Coffee and juices were great. #giveitatry 😊

Great food great people excellent parking. Great breakfast anytime & they will change to suit your needs. Fantastic place. Great area . The staff are very attentive & always keep you satisfied.
I asked for my coffee to be strong with not much milk and got exactly what I asked for! Love, love, love the coffee here and you will too if you like yours strong and not milky! Delish food and great service. Perfect Saturday brunch place!
Have been here a few times. I love the set up, ambiance and creativity in their menu. I'm always confused with varied choices the menu provides, they always have something different for chef specials - caters well for regulars.
I ordered salmon on house hash and a large mug of flat white. Generous portion of salmon but hash was average. Overall a decent dish but the flavors somehow failed to wow! Coffee was great though. Very busy but i found Service very hospitable and warm.
Lemon meringue was disappointing, could hardly taste the lemon.
Defintely decent servings on the plate. A little on the sweet side for me. Otherwise this would be a higher rating from me as the food is quite good.
Been here a number of times. The specials are worth a go and their baked eggs are lovely. But again the baked eggs were a bit sweet. For me that is a savoury only dish.
Love this place. Always serve great coffee even if you are fussy like me. The staff are always friendly especially Tahani. Would recommend this place.
Came for lunch 3 times. Love the garden, food and service was delightful, the staff were very friendly and helpful. An absolutely perfect place to sit and enjoy lunch or coffee.
Probably one of the hottest spots to have breakfast/lunch in Carnegie. Staff are all wonderful and friendly. Their chefs make the best and most unique specials every week. Great place if you've ever wanted to be a regular to a cafe and live your retired life well.
Dog's welcomed in the courtyard area which you can also access from the carpark near the library
Went there during my 1 month pursuit of great brunch at a decent price. Food is great, fresh ingredients and portion is decent size. The place is spacious and warm. Nothing against this place but it doesn't have the charm that caught my attention. Maybe the souls did not meet..
We went a few times a few years ago but the place was underwhelming. Were forced to go there on a public holiday as all of the other places were closed and we were very pleasantly surprised.
The kids menu (scrambled eggs on toast, fresh fruit and milkshake) works great with our 2 year old (as long as we delay the fruit).
The menu uploaded seems a bit out of date. There are a few interesting breakfast options on the menu. I will note that the servings are perhaps a little on the small side but very tasty. Service is very friendly although sometimes a bit erratic
I like fig jam cafe a lot because of the atmosphere and staff are lovely
They always greet me with a smile. Coffee is not bad, not the best I've had though
Food is amazing. They run quite different specials each week
I've tried their poached eggs on toast with avo mango salsa and rocket which I highly recommend
Love this cafe, as a local it's one of my favourites. The staff are so lovely, have never had a bad coffee & the food is always delicious. That's why I return, time & time again!
Best Cafe in Carnegie. Great Coffee and Food.
Great food and service. Top class service. very fast. food was very good as well. would go back for sure
Nice cafe with charm. Managed to get a cosy seat next to the indoor fireplace out back. Have to say I did feel like I was entering someone's home when greeted and seated by staff. My food came out fairly quick, my coffee was nice and strong. Keen to come back and try the specials I missed out on!!

The rear eating area of Figjam Cafe is a hidden somewhat peaceful haven in Carnegie. Hidden from view when one enters from Koornang Road is a little open air gem with some foliage, numerous heaters for the cooler months and old fashioned rustic wooden tables & chairs. Having now visited twice for lunch and once for breakfast I can't pick fault with the food quality and provision of service. The staff are a bright, happy bunch who compliment the eateries good food. Yes, I'll be visiting again in the near future.
Sep 15, 2016 update
Popped into Figjam café for breakfast this morning and seriously some eateries just never change, great food (reasonably priced) along with excellent service provision. Today I had their Eggs Neptune (2 poached eggs, smoked salmon topped with Hollandaise sauce on 2 large pieces of toast) and at $15.90 I find it great value for money - yes, it's one of my favourite breakfasts. It goes without saying that I'll return for more of their great food.

Best Coffee, Good Food. I frequently visit this local cafe in Carnegie for their coffee. It is the best coffee in the area, not too milky and good beans. The staff are very friendly!!
The Cajun chicken is also very worth trying!
Cute little courtyard!. A lovely courtyard setting at the rear...
We had chicken barley soup topped with two (thin) slices of bread and a fig jam deluxe breakfast...
Unfortunately both serves were on the smaller side, however both tasted good... Coffee was good, not milky, just the way we like it...
Staff really friendly. The barista girl made a really good long black.
Love their coffee. When we are passing through Carnegie we stop for the coffee and a BLAT . It is hot and fresh. My kids are satisfied and that is good for me .
Visited for brunch with mother and daughter. Lots of tables, inside, outside or pavement. We each had eggs and bacon- just ok, but cheap for this street ($10). Sourdough so tough the knife could not cut! Great fresh orange juice and good coffee. Staff need to smile. Would visit again- just watch the toast!
