Amazing chicken and the service was quick and friendly. Big serves so I recommend going with four or more people. Also means you can try more of the delicious sides and other dishes. The chips were incredible! If you order too much they have take away containers so you don't have to leave the deliciousness behind. I'll definitely be back!
On point every time the lager!!! The fried chicken is perfection! Highly recommended!
Awesome food and friendly service. Will go again. Great place to catch up with friends.
Great food, excellent service. We really love the ambiance. Definitely will go back
cannot fault a single thing!! Chicken - Corn - and potatoes was insane!
We ordered the deli burger with the fried chicken burger with the batter fries and chicken wings. The fries and burgers were massive and delicious. The chicken wings were average.
The ambience is great and staff very friendly. Overall quite pleased with my experience.
Excellent cheese and chicken dishes. Amazing taste. Never fail to delivery. My always go to whenever I feel like eating chicken wings. Strongly recommended!
My fav fried chicken joint is finally available in Carnegie 🍗
A relatively new dish introduced is the ‘Potato Heaven’ which basically consists of mashed potato in cheese 🧀 topped with wedges. So good but it’s fregging carb & fats loaded.
This place fixes my fried chicken cravings every time.

Good korean fried chicken franchise located at Carnegie. Simple decor and great food. Chicken are well prepared and the selection of sauces are amazing .
The cheese corn are perfect for kids. Staff were great and they do lots of take aways.
There is a reason why this chain is so successful. Delicious chicken, delicious sauces, friendly staff! Would recommend. There is also a large menu of non chicken items. Beer prices are a little inflated
This is the best fried chicken restaurant I’ve ever had. Highly recommend rice cakes, fried chicken and the potato noodle. Asking for dipping sauce separately instead of having sauce on top of the chicken is better as the chicken is crisper that way.
best fried chicken for sure. my favourite things to have are potato heaven and jab chea . Food is amazing always service was good and the ambience is nice.
Came here for dinner and got the whole chicken with soy garlic and sweet chilli sauces, as well as fried rice cakes and potato heaven on the side. The chicken was nice and juicy, the rice cakes were nicely fried and the potato heaven was great. The food was all very saucy though and after feeling satisfied with the meal, the rest of it felt a bit heavy and was difficult to finish. Overall the food was good, the staff were friendly and the interior was nice, good eat.
Got soy garlic n sweet chilli!! Rice cakes dont taste that fried, they were still good though. Potato heaven was good but got sickening at the end. Chicken was tender n well cooked. Would defs recommend
Gami is arguably one of the most popular Korean Fried Chicken places in Melbourne, with plenty of stores throughout the city and suburbs. I’ve been to Gami a few times and I find the chicken tends to vary from place to place.
This time, we decided to go for the boneless chicken with the honey mustard and sweet chilli sauce. Unfortunately, most of the breast pieces were quite dry for us (although the thigh ones were nice and juicy!). The skin wasn’t the crispiest we’ve had either sadly. Really needed the sauce (honey mustard is my favourite) to make up for it!
Other dishes which we had were the potato heaven (my favourite dish - it’s a MUST TRY!), the corn cheese (very sweet and creamy), the mandu (quite average), and the jap chae (surprisingly very good!). Servings are quite generous too.
Loving this place so much!! They always have the same ambiance with most of their restaurants with yellow wall that looks good in picture
We had Soy and Garlic Boneless Chicken, Corn Cheese, and Kimchi Fried Rice (Lunch Menu)
Soy & Garlic Boneless Chicken is always our go-to-ordered-menu. Chicken is really crispy that you can taste the butter coated with flour. Chicken itself is very tender and juicy. It really tastes delicious and tender. Sauce combination is sweet, savoury, and proportion is just perfect. Couldn’t ask for more...
They give a very generous portion of cheese. It tasted a little bit more in the sweeter side. Have a try for those who love cheese and sweet at the same time. However, the kimchi fried rice is a little bit tasteless. They do not taste sour nor feel the kimchi.
Overall, their chicken is one of the best in Melbourne!!
These photos are from the first time we had Gami so many years ago (I can't remember a time without Gami to be completely honest).
Since then, we dine and also do takeaways from the Carnegie restaurant (both pick up and through Ubereats). This is definitely our go to place for fried chicken!
An evening well spent with my friends at Gami, Carnegie. With almost 13 outlets across Melbourne, Gami is very famous for delicious Korean menu and Fried Chicken. We tried their ‘Fry To Heaven’, Fried Chicken and it was flavoursome. Chicken was crispy and incredibly cooked. For the flavour we tried Sweet Chilli and Soy Garlic, the popular choices. The service was good and staff were kind. The place is well maintained and it was a laid back ambiance. Overall, it was a great experience and would love to recommend to anyone who loves Fried Chicken.
Gami's chicken wing is the best chicken wing I have ever tried in Melbourne! It is next to my gym so I use to have the chicken wings after gym.
The chicken was incredibly cooked, although sickly sweet. We got the spicy coating and it tasted like sweet chill and spicy sauce. It was too sweet to finish. The potato heaven was lovely but a little bit over priced. Overall a good place just on the pricey side.
GAMI IS SO YAAAAAAMI!!!
Yum yum yum! We tried these really yummy Korean soda drinks and they were great! So good.
Chicken is always so yummy! My fav is the original chicken mmmmmm!
I am so excited to have something apart from pancake and Hot pot. The fried rice cake is so crispy as crunchy. The taste is actually quite similar to the prawn crackers.
I reckon people always order the fried chicken wings as its popularity. My partner tried the potato heaven, which is literally potato “heaven” lol. Too much potato, liked mash and chips. 😂 can’t eat them all.
Sticky saucy chicken.. tick tick tick. Beer.. tick
Great location, great food!
Service is good. Very transactional.
Recommended for a group looking for a great beer and chicken feast!!!
Took my son to celebrate his 10th Birthday on Friday night. We brought cake and they happily stored it until after dinner. Staff brought the cake out and sang happy birthday for him as well. Food and service is excellent. Love the fried chicken with bones and spicy sauce, kimchi pancakes and corn/cheese side platters. YUM!!!
Very friendly staff eager to take your order. Boneless Korean chicken was spot on with the sauces. Ambiance was very nice also. Just wish I had more wet towels for the sticky fingers afterwards
Food is great as per all Gami chicken outlets, nice seating areas and atmosphere. However I did find the chip portions to be much smaller at this particular outlet compared to other ones we’ve been to across Melbourne.
Was craving Korean fried chicken and knew exactly where to go to get my fix. This place never disappoints and always has great service. You can’t go wrong with potato heaven, it’s literally heaven!! Definitely recommend you check it out if you’re nearby! Or any other gami store to be honest 🤤
Yes, yes, yes! I heart Gami in Carnegie! A regular go to with chicken deliciousness on offer. Spicy and soy garlic sauces are highly recommended. Spicy is not for the faint of heart, mind you. Corn cheese is an absolute must. The potato heaven is a little much, and takes precious stomach space away from the chicken - don't be tempted by the devil potato! Get extra radish, Carnegie is a little skimpy on their single radish servings. The staff here are a little weird with booking expectations. To save yourself the hassle, just make a booking! On the day or even hour before is fine.
Keep it up Gami, I'll catch you soon!

The chicken was tender and crispy. We ordered the boneless chicken for 2 with spicy and soy garlic sauce. Service was friendly and the interior was nice 👍
A cozy and spacious restaurant with plenty of seats available on a Friday night. Service was prompt and friendly. The original fried chicken was just ok, crispy but a bit too dry, more bones than meat. The corn cheese was incredible; fresh corn covered with lots of tasty cheese. The spicy seafood soup was spicy and flavourful. The coleslaw was very disappointing; ketchup was used as dressing and we found a hair on it =(.
Been here a number of times and for fried chicken, gami do a decent job. Sides are a little meh, but you are not there for the sides, you are there for the fried chicken. With a few different flavours you are sure to find one you like. Original is good, and hot is hot and Gami is available via Ubereats.
KFC(Korean Fried Chicken).. Place was average.. Spicy Korean Fried Chicken was great had a nice crispy-ness and flavour to it! You could taste the fire on your lips ! Will be definitely visiting again!!!
This is a good place for a Friday night drinks with a group of friends who are not eager to have the best food in the world. Simply beer and fried chicken summaries the food here. Friendly staff and clean environment.
It’s a good restaurant to enjoy fried chicken and beer with friends. The chicken is not too bready, and is delicious, especially when made “spicy” or “sweet”
The chicken ribs are amazing and flavoursome. I would definitely go back and try the whole chicken. The interior design is clean and bright. A nice place to go for fried chicken and beer with a friend
Been here a couple times and this place never fails! Chicken is always crisp, gami chips are some of the best I've had. Could expand on the size of tables though!

This has been my life this year...sorry for the lack of posts, but with just 1 month left of this crazy uni year, I am back at it with a huge backlog of reviews and recipes! FIRST UP! Gami is honestly my favourite KFC store across Melbourne. This restaurant is quite small compared to their other locations and is constantly packed. Bookings are available though. The food is just as great, with amazing consistency across their branches. I also love that I can now get it delivered to my place (WIN!)
Ordered via uber eats, I had the half chicken (original spices) very satisfied with the meal. The chicken tasted fresh and delicious, I'm a fried chicken fan and this is one of the best I've had in Melbourne.
Gami is a must try if you love fried chicken great staff & I love the beer on tap we got chicken wing with 2 sauces - sweet chilli & soy garlic 9/10
Went here without any booking on Saturday night. Food was great and yummy 8/10, service was attentive 9/10, price was reasonable 9/10. Only down fall is parking can be quite tricky.
I love, love, love this place! The Soy Garlic chicken is my absolute favourite and the Potato Heaven really is heaven with four layers of deliciousness!
Chimek - a Korean term for chicken & beer (beer = mekju), and a staple as a cheat meal or just because. The original Gami on Lonsdale is probably the first in Melbourne before the craze kicked in, and it doesn't look like it's slowing down. People can't say no to sweet, spicy, garlicky, cripsy fried chicken paired with draught beer. Sorry KFC, you lose out on this aspect.
A rare occurrence, but they ran out of gas for the draught beer...so disappointing so we had to go for bottles, which isn't as good value.
The seafood pancake is also well crispy with chunks of octopus throughout.
The slaw and radish pickle are complimentary, so keep them coming to cut through the greasiness. On that, maybe a bit too much mayo/tomato sauce on the slaw, and the radish could be cut into bigger cubes.
Venue - one of the newest in the chain, the Carnegie outlet is super busy in the mini k-town. Brightly lit, well spaced tables, you often find a line waiting on the street. Best book a table in advance.
Chimek...always the start to a good night out.
Delicious fried chicken and cheese corn, what else do you need? Pass on the original fried chicken (bland in my opinion) but the sweet chilli boneless chicken was delicious.
Absolutely loved it!!! Definitely recommend it. Next time I go back I want to try the original & spicy chicken. The soy garlic was a bit too garlic-ey but still glad I tried it. I highlyyyyyy recommend the "potato heaven" that was just pure amazing.
It was really good restaurant. We ordered chiken, potato heaven and lager beer. They were all good especially lager beer. Only problem was I was fogetting I'm middle age... I ordered full of calories one, so I coldn't eat so much..
Good place to have pleasant conversation wiz couple of friends and having nice Korean style chicken and beer!! Heard the name for many times but haven't got chance to discover the chicken kingdom,🌚 also highly recommend the cheesy chips with sort of salty yogurt on top, absolutely delicious. We also ordered 2 whole chicken with sweet n' chill source, spy garlic and hot spicy, very tasty and fragrant smell of spice!! Finally have a place close to home to have Korean chicken~
Good service. But overly too much. They clean up the table without knowing that there are still customers sitting and enjoying the food. So spills of dips and sauces on the floor or the customer. Be careful in this way. Otherwise is a nice typical gami restaurant you would expect. Fish paste soup, Tteok-bokki, cheese corn and the fried chicken were delicious. Enough said.
Delicious Korean fried chicken! Have been here a few times now and it consistently delivers. Boneless chicken is the best option - all sauces are good with soy garlic being a favourite. Spicy is good too and not too hot. Seafood pancake has great flavours. The rice cake tteok-bokki is super spicy. Beer kegs are fun and good value too. Service is friendly and quick. Will be returning I'm sure.
Korean fried chicken done right. Never disappoints. Dined in with friends and shared a whole cut chicken two ways : soy garlic and sweet chilli. Kimchi pancake and beer as accompaniment.
Stylish decor, comfortably spacious seating, lively but not loud.
Fast service, attentive although seemingly hurried but polite nonetheless.
Went here with a mate who highly recommended gami. And I wasn't disappointed.
The boneless fried chicken was fantastic. We tried all four flavours:
Soy and garlic - the best of the lot!
Spicy - a decent kick but not overpowering.
Sweet chilli - not a great sauce, I get better sweet chilli sauce from the supermarket.
Original- comes with a side of honey mustard but it's American mustard, would be much better with a seeded mustard- my least favourite.
The salad was covered in ketchup - not sure if this was a Korean thing but no cabbage salad needs ketchup a simple dressing would have been great.
We also tried some Korean beer one bottled and one on tap and they were both awesome!
First time at this new Gami venue in Carnegie.
#ExecutiveSummary: great choice of food, quality, and speedy and friendly service.
#Food: we had the whole boneless chicken, with a side of spicy and also Soy flavoured sauces. Tip-always order the sauces on the side - it makes for crispy chicken. As usual, the chicken was delicious. It also came with prawn crackers, a small coleslaw, and some pickled radish.
#process: well done. The person who was seating people coming through, also took our order. Once this happened, the sides, sauces, and drinks came out pretty quickly. Then the chicken. ~9 mins from order to he meal coming out.
#People: friendly, and accommodating. Opened the door for us as we were leaving.
Try this place if you haven't already. It's awesome!!!
One of the best korean fried chicken in town. Once you started with the first piece, you'll be hooked to it. One of my Fridays go to place now.
Korean fried chicken heaven!
Wow, heard a lot of things about this place and boy did it deliver. If you love Korean fried chicken this place is a must. Located in the melting pot of Carnegie, down the Korean end, GAMI is a gem of the neighbourhood.
We had the original whole chicken and the sweet chilli boneless - both were exceptional!!
I had concerns that the boneless may be dry, however the sweet chilli sauce ensured that this was definitely not an issue. The original was also delicious, however for me, the standout was the sauced boneless.
Also loved the corn cheese and the fried. The spring onion and seafood pancake was yum but I'd probably prefer if they just had a spring onion pancake option (without seafood).
Probs the best Gami branch out of the whole chain.
As always, the chicken at Gami is really juicy and moist inside but crunchy on the outside. But here at the Carnegie store, the chicken was even crunchier, probably due to the the fact that the chicken was cut into smaller bits. On top of that, the sauce was also very balanced. At other branches, like St Kilda, sometimes they made the sauce slightly too sweet.
Other good pluses include the fact that they provide you a spoon for the corn cheese which they have never done before at other stores. The store was also bright, clean and spacious - totally opposite of the King Street store which was dark and underground or Lonsdale store which is tiny and always packed!
I visited Gami on Saturday night with a good friend for a nice chilled night in the burbs, and was pleasantly surprised by the decor and design of the restaurant.
I've heard mixed reviews about the Gami brand but this is the first time I've managed to visit any of the restaurants. Overall I found the service (4/5) to be better than the quality of the food (3/5) just because there wasn't anything that spectacular when it came to fried chicken.
Personally I actually enjoyed the original chicken the best, I found the flavoured options just too heavily coated in sticky sauce- it's be better if the chicken was served with the side sauce! Another item to try is the ominous sounding Potato Heaven. Picture a potato and cheese-gasmic dish perfect for the Sunday hangover and you'll have the potato heaven. It sounded too bizarre for us not to try! So if you're looking for a nice, simple and fun night out with friends to feast on fried chicken, beers and quirky sides then definitely head out and check out Gami.
Very friendly service, everyone is very attentive to you. Fried chicken is nice too, but the problem with fried chicken is they are just fried chicken, it's hard to make it feel/taste really special, even with sauce. We ordered the original and soy garlic (half half), and they are nice, but they are fried chicken. And I can't say it's better than other Korean fried chicken. Hence why I only rate 4.0. The pan fried seafood udon and the fried rice cake were also nice too, and I'd say I prefer to come back for those (non-fried chicken) meal rather than just ordering the fried chicken. But overall happy with the service and with the atmosphere. The pipe led lighting looks cool!
Simply delicious sweet chilli Korean fried chicken with the right kick! Good portions. Satisfied cravings and also delivers with Uber eats :)
The Dear Luncher's fried chicken escapades continue. The next victim was the recently opened branch of Gami Chicken and Beer in Carnegie. The Dear Luncher is a Gami veteran, so nothing new here other than an exploration of a new satellite store. Everything was as it should be with the chicken. Glorious. Original and Sweet Chilli varieties were sampled. Honey mustard dipping sauce is still the champions choice for dipping one's chicken into.
Never tried before was the sous vide prepared chips, which appeared to have sugar on them. Excellent. In addition we devoured the Mandu dumplings and 2 jugs of the rather nice Gun-Bae Lager. A welcome addition to Koornang Road, to join the 34 other Korean restaurants in this strip.
DO: The chicken obviously. I prefer the whole chicken but the Mrs prefers boneless. Either way you can't lose.
DON'T: Just order the chicken, must order the beers and sides like potato heaven and sausage too.
TIP: They also do UberEATS! Thank you Gami for helping me out as I live in Bentleigh.
We had dinner at the new Gami restaurant that recently opened in Carnegie. The staff were very friendly and service was attentive. We had the original boneless chicken with all four sauces, fries and kim-chi pancake. My personal favorite is the soy garlic and spicy sauce. The chicken was cooked perfectly and tender. I highly recommend the honey plum wine (Maesil Won Ju) and the Gun Bae Ale to wash it all down. We'll definitely be back again. It's a great place to just chill out with friends over chicken and beer.
Been back twice now and have had takeaway a few times since they've opened. The chicken has always been super fresh and tasty and the kimchi pancakes are the best. Food has consistently come out quickly and the staff have been all smiles and very helpful with the menu. Have found it to be a great place to catch up with friends. Will definitely go back again.
Great to have this awesome fried chicken joint in Carnegie. Had an awesome meal the other night and the setting is very cool and hip. Will be back!
Chicken was juicy and tasty, the kimchi pancake was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The store fitout is trendy. The best part was the Lager. A good place to enjoy a meal and drinks with friends.

I had a light lunch at the recently opened Gami in Carnegie today and chose their Seafood & Spring Onion Pancake for $14. Seriously, I couldn't pick fault with the pancake's flavour, it had this beautiful almost crispy Korean batter and I found it excellent value. Service provision was great with each diner being greeted as they entered by a friendly, polite and smiling staff member. The background music was somewhat loud upon my arrival & they obligingly turned it down a bit upon my request, I was their only customer at 11:30 am.
The Juror's Verdict: Food 4/5, Service Provision 4.5/5, Will I return: Yes, it was an enjoyable experience
Phill Jury (food critic & writer)
Chicken was very tasty and moist. Staff were friendly and helpful although I had to remind them about our water twice, this is understandable since they were so busy.
Fitout of the restaurant is hip. love the lights on the back wall.
A good place to hangout on a Friday night afterwork for food and drinks.
One of my favourite place for Korean Fried Chicken. The staff were always attentive and friendly. I brought some friends to try out this place and they all loved the food. Try the Award winning Korean Plum Wine (Maesilwonju) is a 100% plum wine with natural honey, cultivated on Koreas famous Jeju Island. The aroma is a seductive mixture of wild forest and blooming flowers, rounded out with the honeys sweetness. Overall, the place is hip clean, modern and nice with a special lights design on the back wall.Would definitely recommend a friend to visit !!
As always my favourite place for chicken spare ribs, and glad they opened one in Carnegie which is very close to my house. Don't need to mention of their well know KFC-Korean Fried chicken... But sorry Gami, your Pancakes were completely failed, from oily soakky kimchi pancake (which i had in Healeys lane, CBD) to tasteless and over flour Seafood pancake, stir fried dishes are over average and not very impressed. However i'll be back for your ribs and good manners services.
Waiting more than 2 month for it to open. Menu has more choices than william st few years ago. Potato heaven is really good with fried wedgeson top and marsh with cheese as base. Fried chicken are standard flavours. Hope to add some new flavors like snow cheese and honey ones.
Great service, the waiter made sure to tell us all about the current deals. We got the big chicken between 4 people and 1 corn cheese, it was just the right amount of food and we were so full afterwards!
Lovely staff, delicious chicken!
I’ve been meaning to try this place for quite some time. It did not disappoint. Had a couple beers and a whole fried chicken, to share of course. Cut into pieces, perfect. The hot sauce, on the side, was quite nice too.
Only one small issue, not big enough to reduce the rating, the door. Customers kept leaving it open which made the restaurant quite cold. However, when closed, it got stuck and customers couldn’t get in. Might be time to invest in fixing the door.
Always great service at Gami Chicken at Carnegie! So casual and no fuss, friendly service and so fresh!
Looking forward to coming here for cheese fried chicken for a long time. Good environment and friendly staff🥰🥰Nice 👍🏻
Amazing each time we come here! Always get the boneless chicken and it’s delicious! The chips are really generous and crispy and the corn cheese was a surprising favourite! Staff are always very friendly and accommodating.
The taste of chicken with spicy sauce is far better than one in the city. Ask for fried rice cakes they are not on menu but are yummy and delightful. Sac sac drinks are a must.
The food here was so delicious. Last time I came I had the seafood udon and spicy chicken fried rice. It tasted so amazing. Some of the best fried rice I’ve ever had! Also the staff were so incredibly nice. Anna was super sweet and friendly. Great customer service by her!
