Great food, particularly the bi bim bap and Korean fried chicken. Fun and quirky restaurant upstairs with a nice outside area for summer. Give it a try!

Been to Pocha a few times for dinner. The ambience is very homely and modest.

I would reccomend the Original Korean Fried Chicken and the Beef Spare Rib Stew as they were delicious. Not personally a huge fan of corn but my partner loves their Corn Cheese. I found their seafood and kimchi pancakes fairly average; and their takoyaki and croquettes quite bland.

Overall, I've still greatly enjoyed all my dining experiences here and would highly recommend.

Good food, a set of meat with some cook dishes can feed 8 of us. Good portion of feed, very tasty and I had my dog with me. The outside bbq area is nice. It’s better than having bbq indoor, because it’s really oily and the smoke can be real bad indoor.

This Korean bar is very good. My friend and i order the fried chicken and beef soup. The beef soup a little spicy and sweety which is very delicious. The beef and the bones are also amazing!
The BBQ of next table smells really good.

Amazing restaurant, we have been here many times. The beef rib stone is very impressive and the quality is great, enough for two people. What’s more, the side dishes are perfect compared with other restaurants. Anyway a fabulous dinner experience!

We enjoyed our dinner at Pocha. As we entered the restaurant, we almost walked past their kitchen and taught its probably just a take away joint. So dont worry if you feel the same when you walk-in, as there are ample tables set on the top floor. They had a good variety in their menu. For entree we had ordered the Hot Chili Korean Fried Chicken. We were expecting it to be a little spicy, but it was a little extra sweet for our liking. For the Mains we had ordered Sizzling BBQ Spicy Chicken with Cheese and the Hot stone Chicken Bibimbab. Both the dishes were brought hot and sizzling to our table. The appearance was impressive and the flavours were bang on. For the drinks we had Orange Punch, Bongbong grape drink and the Green tea rice punch, and all of them were nice and refreshing. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and would definitely go back with our friends to try their other specialties.

I have to start off saying this is the best Korean fried chicken I've ever had in my life. Crispyness is on another level and it always comes perfectly sauced. It's also incredible value at only 16 for a huge plate with chips cooked in the sauce. Always go for boneless however. Top flavours are the hot chilli, sweet chilli and "awesome" chicken, so good! Although unlike other Korean restaurants where kimchi is included with the meal, at Pocha you order it seperately. However it is house made and incredible. I also really enjoyed the corn cheese, one of the better ones I've tried. Other dishes such as the kimchi pancake, takoyaki, bibimbap and rice cakes are tasty enough however I've had better elsewhere. I went here for my birthday with a group of friends and it was the perfect venue, even with several bottles of soju down it was really affordable!

One of the better Korean joints in Carnegie.
They have a tent and tables out the back which mimics the casual street food tents in Seoul, with soft kpop playing in the background.
Bring a few friends and enjoy yourself over beer and snacks.
They open later than the other Korean restaurants too.
The spicy beef rib stew is excellent...the meat has been stewed for hours, and it's just so soft. The soup itself is wonderfully spicy, beefy and sweet. My fav here.
The hotstone bibimbap is also really good - better than some others with a yolk in the middle as well.
However the dukkbokki is super damn spicy, and the sauce can be a little gluggy.
The Korean Fried Chicken is good...can't go wrong with fried chicken, but I think I've had better elsewhere.
A good variety on the menu, check it out!

Lots of variety of Korean dishes. Value for money meals, plenty of meat/veges in their dishes. The only thing lacking would be their slow service though it is handled in friendly manner. Environment needs cleaning up, looks like they attempted to start renovating then left that idea.

It s my one of the most favorite restaurants in Melbourne. BBQ set is new dish but the pork belly is awesome. They taguht us how to taste BBQ meat in a real korean traditional way. Beef rib stew and chicken fillet are highly recommend!!I order this two all the time while I come. I always enjoy my meal in Pocha.😋

As we were the only customer at that time & they only had 1 staff working , which was the owner, service was slow. I had to go downstairs & made an order as I pressed the button various times, but no one came up to get our order.

We ordered the fried chicken with soy chilli sauce & beef jap chae. The 2 dishes are both delicious. The chicken is crispy & tender. The jap chae is fabulous, with a lot of beef compared to other restaurants. The beef in the jap chae is delicious, it has smoky bbq flavour in it.

I do agree with other review that their food may contain MSG.

The place is good enough to have small group of people and not recommended for a big group because the table set up.
It s located in close to Carnegie train station which is very convenient if you travel using public transport.
We ordered Korean Fried Chicken with sweet and chilli sauce, and kimchi soup.
The kimchi soup was really average, cant say the best - the taste was just too plain.
The Fried chicken was delicious, well cooked. Unfortunately it was just too sweet and too much sauce or else it will be perfect!

It doesn't look like much from outside .. very unassuming.. have walked passed more times than I can remember thinking that it was dodgy! After spotting some very content Koreans coming out of the shop smiling and laughing .. thought I'd pop in to see the menu.. lady boss and staff were very friendly .. impressed by their soup and KFC menu we decided to stay and sit in the back section. An enclosed carport :) w/ tacky retro deco. I thought it was pretty cool! Haha

Onto the food.. had the kimchi soup (m) and the
Soy chillie KFC (fillet). It was only the 2 of us. No way we could've done the other KFC .. portion too big. We struggled to finish the soup which was generous for $30. Great value! other places for the same would be more. Both were amazing! With the right balance of chillie saltiness and crisp and gue if u know what I mean. :) I think I've found my new KFC fav!! Next time will try the larger KFC w/ bone and just beer. The kimchi soup. What can I say we were sooo full we still stuffed ourselves with it. Full of flavour others I've had seem to be watered down compared to Pocha's. Will def return to try other tarngs!

Have to agree with others.. service is a bit slow but is understandable their kitchen is small. But heck we didn't mind.. was happy drinking the week away!! 😜👍

I really enjoyed visiting Pocha each time I'm in the area. After visiting it for the first time and trying the Gamja Tang (pork bone potato stew), I wished I had known this place earlier. The stew has a well cooked broth and was quite flavoursome! The meat on the pork bones were quite tender too. Pocha provides free refill on side dishes as most Korean joints do and I find that their service is adequate, not the best but manageable. The next time I went, I manage to try their Budae Jigae (army stew) and ordered extra cheese as I prefer a cheesier taste to my stews. As it's only two of us, I order the medium and find that the price is $30 which by far, has been the one of the most cheapest price for army stews in melb. Usually, other places charge about $34-38. For the medium sized stew, it fed us well, it seemed a good value for money. I can see myself being a regular customer here in the future!

On the won! The venue has great set up with a big courtyard out back and a K-Pop feel upstairs. The spicy chicken soup is a must have, with of course copious amounts of KFC and Kirin. With plenty of choice for Asian food in the negie, this is a must.

Hi everyone I just realise I have done straight Korean dining a for while LOL

Many diners labelled Pocha as "hidden Gem" and it is very true. Yet, while it doesn't have a grand entrance, the experience is something you don't get usually - to eat in a completely non-commercial environment. I believe it was renovated from a residential house and the owner kept the original layout. The courtyard is decorated with fairy lights which is really cute. Upstairs space is homey and cosy.

People comment Pocha has one of the best Korean Fried Chicken in Melbourne, which I think that's not an exaggeration! The spicy fish cake stew has amazing favours as well.

Against: the food indeed contains some MSG which some people may feel uncomfortable of.

Came here with friends on a Saturday night. The place was bustling and had a nice atmosphere. The beef spare rib hotpot soup was amazing.

Unfortunately, we were let down by extremely slow service; took about 20min to get a waitress' attention to order and then another 45min to get all our food  with one of  my friends receiving his meal almost 30min after the first meal came out! They also "ran out" of the karage 45min after we placed an order which was very disappointing, especially as it seemed people who had ordered it after us received it. Luckily we were all very full from the other dishes! We did feed this back to the waitresses who were very apologetic about the situation.

Overall, would return here to try their karage, other hot pot soups and the 'dry hotpot BBQ' which all seemed very good. Hopefully service is a bit better next time!

My go-to restaurant when I feel like eating Korean. Delicious food. Attentive service. Value for money.

Recommended dishes include:
Corn cheese which is easily my favourite entree. The KFC is a good sharing dish which you can choose a mixture of two flavours. The chicken is crunchy, moist and is coated with sauce (definitely get the sweet chilli). [Spicy] Pork ramen and Beef rice salad. Although these two dishes are simple but my gosh they are fulfilling and tasty.

Porcha continues to fuel my love affair with Korean Food. The little Korean place is located on the busy Koornang Road in Carnegie, a street filled wonderful restaurants from across all of Asia.  Its modelled after ‘porcha’s’ in Korean which are places where people go for casual dining and drinking late into the night. And it certainly lives up to its namesake. head out to the unassuming, quirky back yard to enjoy some delicious Korean food under the fairy lights.

It is a really good place to have lunch and dinner! I have been there for many times. All food I tried there are so delicious, the environment is pretty good and all people there are friendly and make me comfortable. The fried chicken is the best one, and they can also make two tastes for one chicken which is really thoughtful! I do really like the beef tartar, which is made of fresh beef and special sauce. Once I asked them why everything here tastes so fresh and not oily at all, they told me mainly coz everything is home-made, like dumplings, every kind of sauce..to make things better, the price is quite reasonable. It is worth trying! Best Korean restaurant in carnegie!!

If you haven't had the fried chicken here you haven't lived! SOOO damn good! I can't comment on what the service may be like when busy, but we were the only ones there and it was great (other than getting one wrong drink...). The rest of the meal was decent to great, but the decour could be better and could do with an overall refresh, but who cares when they have fried chicken like this!!!

We have been here for many times, always order the Korean fried chicken, along with a pork and chicken bibimbaps. The sauce and coating made the chicken very moist & tasty and the bibimbaps came with the normal sidedishes.. I really cannot fault the food.
The service as they were very attentive and friendly. However, the décor could use a bit of an update, but overall it was a good night.

This is a great restaurant in Carnegie. We have been here numerous times and tonight was exceptional. Seafoods pancake with lots of seafood, delicious homemade spring rolls and a seafood hotpot that was full of seafood. Service was fantastic and questions asked about food was spot on as to ingredients and servings for 4 people. A delightful meal & set up in Carnegie. Well Done. We will continue to frequent here. ...The original fried chicken lacked a bit of flavour but was so incredibly CRISPY. You could probably hear someone taking a bite of this chicken from the other side of the room! Whereas the Oriental Chicken was less crispy due to the sauce but was nicely flavoured.

DELICIOUS!. What a hidden gem! I only discovered this place after walking past on a dog walk and decided that I had to try it that night.
So glad I did.
We ordered the spicy fried chicken which was absolutely YUM! There was no room for us to eat inside as it only seated 4 parties, so we sat outside in their fairy light lit marquee. It was slightly chilly and I was asked if I'd like a blanket, not once but 3 times. How thoughtful!
We also ordered Tofu Bibimbap stone pot which was sizzling hot and delicious but only had 3 small pieces of Tofu. I can't wait to order the fried chicken again!!!

Small yet functional. Small eatery serving affordable cheap korean delicacies. Some of the menu items were unavailable and inadequate lighting in dining space are the drawbacks. Very friendly and polite floor staff but kitchen crew needs to put a smile on their faces... The plain fried chicken needed more seasoning but their bibimbaps are amazing. The hot stone keeps it warm for at least 25 minutes. Seafood and tofu hotpot could have see more servings of seafood such as prawn or mussels. Soup was good though as it wasn't overly spicy and hits just the mark. Overall, would be back for the bibimbap and little snacks.

Baby of the family, K-Tarng is sibling to the more popular one in the family, Tarng on A'beckett Street. But let me just say, don't judge a book by its cover.  The interior is nothing fancy, like not at all, but it's when I made my way to the back that I discovered a little spot of Korea hidden in good old Carnegie. Picture a little garden, tables and stools and fairy lights stretching to the sky. All I could think of was K-drama ! But onto the food. Tarng's Spicy Fried Chicken Of course we could not pass up ordering a serving of deep fried goodness in the form of Korean fried chicken. Smothered in a sticky sweet chilli sauce, the chicken was tender and juicy on the side yet super crunchy on the outside. Don’t bother with cutlery here, these babies are finger lickin’ good ! I could not get enough of this. Pork BBQ Next came out a sizzling hot plate BBQ Pork which I wasn’t overly fond of as the pork was rather dry and lacking in seasoning. Kimchi Pancake I’m mad about kimchi pancakes an

A nice little local place which serves up some tasty, authentic Korean! Downstairs isn't pretty, but upstairs has a nice dining area. On the downside service was a bit chaotic but the waiter did his best give that he was alone. Also the buttons for service didn't seem to be of any use, and probably need to be removed. Looking forward to eating there again in the future!

I have mixed feelings about Pocha. The food was delicious, the flavors were spot on for BBQ meat. However the decore is homey, borderlining shabby. Staff were attentive and very pleasant but at times confusing. I booked a table for 5, but were given one set of menu and made our own way upstairs where we had to pull up our 5th seat to the largest 4 seater table we could find. We also had to take an additional place setting from the empty table next to us. I would liken it to a comfortable pair of old shoes, I'd happily wear it at home but not go out with. If you want somewhere quiet and low key I'd recommend Pocha, there's no pressure to eat and leave within a 2-hour window, nor do you have to queue for a table and the food is comforting.
